Very disappointed when asked for serviettes for my wife and I to be told “sorry mate we don’t do serviettes” Rude or what. Is this a company policy or not.

Coffee at Coffee #1 The only good thing thing about yesterday's experience was the Coffee. When I tried to go to the toilet, I couldn't go into the ladies because the lock was damaged, the disabled toilet I used was in darkness although I did try to turn the light on. Indeed it in the end because only choice I had was to use the gents toilet and I wasn't about to do that. YOU SHOULD DO BETTER. I am a sight and hearing impaired woman. You need to be better.

Coffee#1 is the last remaining coffee chain that can still make a cappuccino in my area. The Thornbury branch is excellent, very convenient for parking and located on a pretty pedestrianised street. Staff are great and accommodating, coffee is smooth. Chipping Sodbury nearby is also nice but avoid Yates branch and go the extra mile or try somewhere else; sorry but it lets the side down.

The panini was ok. The Eaton mess cheese cake was very poor, base was soggy, the mousse was to. I left it on the table.o soft and tasteless and we could not taste the coulis. Just to finish it all off the coffee was undrinkable, very bitter and most unpleasant

It's our local Coffee No1 and always a pleasant experience. The coffee is very nice and my wife loves the fact they have single cream instead of milk for her Americano. Believe me, 8 out of 10 places it's milk or no milk, even though on the continent it's quite common to have cream instead. We've always found the staff to be lovely as well.

We decided to go to Coffee #1 for breakfast and because of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme we thought we would go early to avoid it being busy. It was lovely and quiet and cool in there and there are lots of good precautions in place. We ordered two giant teacakes with jam and a bacon roll, as well as two coffees and one tea. Everything was in takeaway packaging because of Covid-19 but the food was delicious and really tasty. We had an enjoyable breakfast and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be returning!

We were ignored when waiting at the till to order, and then people who had not yet decided what they wanted and were not stood by the till were served before us. When we asked the barista why we had to wait we were told they were already being served. If this were the case, why had the order not yet been entered into the till at all? And why were we left waiting with no explanation as to why we were not being served? When we asked the barista these questions and explained our frustrations the response was very defensive, with multiple members of staff telling us we were wrong. What happened to the customer is always right!? I don’t appreciate being told I am wrong when I have eyes and ears and was there to see everything that happened. Loyal customers have been lost today.

Today the weather has been really warm, but after a browse through the many charity shops in Thornbury, my friend and I decided a cup of tea was in order. Coffee #1 is our preferred goto for such refreshment and this afternoon did not disappoint. They have a new loose tea, Himalayan in origin, very light and refined, better with out milk or if you must then just a drop. We also had a fantastic toasted tea cake, absolutely huge ( 1 between us would have been enough) but hay ho we had 1 each. So if your needing a good catch with friends and then a mooch around some charity shops head towards Thornbury and Coffee #1 now the little uns are back in school.

Despite a new Costa opening up the road Coffee #1 is still really popular in Thornbury and there is almost always a queue at the counter. Since my last review they have shaken up the food offering a little bit, and now offer a range of fresh salads, as well as the standard sandwich/panini fare that you get elsewhere. The tuna and chicken ciabattas are still a personal favourite though, and the husband still likes the cheese and ham croissant, so they haven't got rid of the old standards but you can now get a Tabbouleh Salad or a Butternut & Quinoa Tart instead if you want something different. I think this is what sets them apart from some of the other coffee shops a bit.On this occasion I was going for coffee and cake with some friends, so I skipped over the savoury options and went straight for the desserts. It was a toss up between a few things, but after ruling out the white chocolate and raspberry muffin, the lemon tart, and the caramel shortbread, I thought I would stick with the victoria sponge and a latte. After all you can't beat a classic. My friends got a coffee and a raspberry ice tea, with a bosco cheesecake to share. We all enjoyed our food and drink and had a good natter in relaxed surroundings.I will definitely be going back to Coffee #1 in Thornbury again in the future, although I would like to see a few more seasonal sandwiches and toasties to mix the menu up a bit.

I absolutely adore the coffee in this place. In my humble opinion it is the best coffee you can buy. So delicious that I have to scrape the last drop of frothy loveliness out of the cup. We visited last March. It was my first visit since under going bowel surgery and I couldn't stand for long. The queue was typically long and the tables were mainly occupied. After queuing for 10 mins I needed to sit down so went to find a table. Unfortunately people were just sat chatting after finishing their drinks etc and many tables were being hogged by one person with all chairs around the table covered in coats and bags. Is this the general culture of coffee shops or just selfish people. I saw a father and son also unable to find a table and had to stand and drink their coffees and eat their toasted teacakes. Why on earth do the Baristas carrying on serving people without checking if they have room to accommodate them. Sadly, we gave up and went home.

Coffee#1 has an eclectic atmosphere with a range of comfy armchairs, dining chairs and pews. Because of the size of the room, it wasn't too noisy even at lunch time with a screaming toddler not far away. The food was homely, but interesting and very tasty. I had a Parmesan and red pepper muffin with cous cous. My husband had a quiche and salad. The desserts are very nice indeed and despite looking harmlessly small, cry husband's cheesecake was rather too much. I had yoghurt and was surprised when out came a breakfast cereal bowl full of goodies. That would have been enough on its own!The only down side was that I waited what seemed to be rather a long time for the one till operator to deal with the one customer ahead of me.

What I did find rude was the young blonde lady making the porridge who did not address me at all when I finally reached the toll to order, no smile (certainly not an apology for wait) just a scowl - very rude and not good customer service. There is like 3 workers making drinks and preparing toasties and paninis and food like that and then there is a server who works at the till. I like it in there because it is designed like your typical coffee shop and it has its awards on the wall. When I have been there the lady's toilets have been shut for whatever reason so I have had to go in the disabled toilet. Sometimes there can be a que but only of about 1-2 people. It's on the high street so it is quite a popular place because it is also the only coffee shop on the street. I liked it quite a lot!

This place makes a great coffee Fast, friendly and much nicer than some of the lacklustre offerings out there, recommended, and I drink coffee over anything else in the world- 20 cups or more a day - and this is good stuff!

I gave up on their coffee as you can see from my previous review and switched over to Suki English Breakfast tea instead. This, with an extra pot of hot water, and a toasted tea cake was a winning combination. Very recently they have replaced the tea with flavourless Canton English breakfast tea in a smaller pot and upped the price from £1.85 to £2.20. I will give it them a few more tries before I give up on them completely and move up the high street again when the fire damaged establishment re-opens.

Watch out for the excess car parking charges payable at the till on your way out if you dare to get comfortable and have more than one drink. The toilets were utterly disgusting. I definitely would not recommend this place.

What a wonderful experience, food was amazing, everything cooked to perfection, starters, main courses and desserts, great service, ideal ambience and such amazing staff, all smiling, polite and super efficient. Prosecco on arrival was a lovely welcome. Favourite member of staff; Joe, lovely young man. Live singer. 15/10 thank you, can’t wait to do it again!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.

appalling service, rude management and staff. incompetent serving, was told it was an hours wait for food when other tables after our group received theirs in 10 minutes. Management of cafe refusing to work, simply stood next to the till. Museum was ok but would not recommend to anyone at any point
