Popped in here to celebrate St George’s day expecting a faux pie and mash experience but was pleasantly surprised. The seating is authentic - wooden benches with marble tables, the welcome was traditionally warm but most of all the food was exactly as I remembered from my childhood. Tasty pies, good mash, and lashings (there’s an old word!) of liquor. The menu also includes eels. The whole experience took this Peckham boy back to better days. Thank you.

Great little place for all lovers of traditional pie, mash and liquor. Food is excellent. Yusuf the owner is a really good bloke and the place itself has a really friendly atmosphere. Great value too. Really recommend and will be returning.

Like many Londoners above a certain age I was weaned on pie and mash as a baby and have beautifully warm green liquor running through my veins. Naturally sceptical of any pie and mash shop that hasn't been run by four generations over at least a century my expectations were frankly not that high. However, imagine my joy and surprised when served with proper, traditional, delicious, nutricious, authentic, steaming hot, proper pie and mash. The owners are a charming chatty and welcoming couple and it was the perfect lunch served with a mug of builders tea on a cold and wet weekday lunchtime. This couple have really got the formula right and whether you are brand new to the cuisine or a Manzes snob I'd say give it a try, you will walk out with a warm glow, a full tummy, plenty of cash still in your sky rocket and a big smile on your boat race (couldn't help going all cockney there).

Pie and mash to die for, we travel regularly from Eastbourne as this is by far the best. The in house made pies are amazing, and the best liquor ever. The value for money is excellent, made an error on a previous review as only hit 4 buttons. Made no mistake this time its a 5 all the way.

Met a friend here today on my birthday, cdnt believe how busy it was but now l know.A beautiful young lady greeted me and asked what I'd like almost immediately. My friend and l chose the delicious home made cake and when my slice arrived with a lighted candle in it the whole café broke into Happy Birthday. I'd had a sad morning but what a happy afternoon. Highly recommend this place you won't be disappointed.

Oliver catered for my husband’s 60th birthday dinner (30 people at home) and did a wonderful job. The team he brought with him were delightful and super efficient. We had beef which he cooked to perfection and everyone loved it. He had actually cooked for us 10 years earlier for the 50th and was equally professional. I would highly recommend Salt and Slate for any event. Thank you!
