This is the second time I've been this year, and unfortunately we experienced poor service again. Order taken fairly quickly, and notes were made that one person required gluten-free due to being coeliac. The chips are cooked in the same fryer, so there is a risk of cross-contamination, so salad was ordered as a replacement. However order arrived with chips and also the toastie included relish which wasn't listed and so needed to check with staff to ensure this was gluten-free. Disappointing and probably won't come back again.

Having deliberately planned our countryside drive in order to stop at Cobbs Cafe for lunch, we were pleased to find there were plenty of seats available on arrival. The greeting was friendly and the drinks arrived quickly. The food itself was delicious, I had the autumn salad bowl and my wife the Halloumi toastie. The only downside was the attitude of the manager (Sharon) who was quite brusque when taking our food order after we had to remind them, even insinuating it was our fault despite us having accepted menus and asking for details of the days specials.

Overall an underwhelming disappointing experience. The highs and lows… - Slow table service - FOH team needed prompting more than once - Let’s have some fresh greens with our Sunday roast please. And more than one carrot! - Beef roast and trimmings were underwhelming, expected it to be packed with flavour - Ask for a table in the main dining area. Staff constantly in and out of the garden door letting in the cold air - FOH. Cheer up…it can’t all be that bad! - Suggest instead you spend your money on the lovely cuts of meat and vegetable racks in the farm shop, and cook your own!

After shopping at Marlborough it’s an easy drive to Cobs ,we had the most enjoyable breakfast at Cobs farm restaurant I had Scrambled eggs double grilled tomato’s with bacon and my lady had pancakes and berry with cream. Amazing. Great tasting food and lovely coffee. Shop and butchers is just wonderful there are things there that you cannot resist. Easy free parking and E Charging. Friendly helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend this farm shop and restaurant.

A very disjointed service. Our family of 4 adults were the first people to arrive for breakfast. Beatuful morning, seated outside and then it all went downhill. We first ordered coffees, which took about 30 minutes , finally arrived well after breakfast had arrived, which also took far too long. A painful process. Lovely staff but……….. The system used for ordering drinks and food has changed, and yesterday it really didn’t work .

After a very enjoyable previous visit, my wife had booked for us and her parents to have brunch. We ordered 2 lots of pancakes, one pesto fried eggs and I went for the avocado benedict. When it arrived I was disappointed to find that my poached eggs were over done, my muffin wasn't toasted and I was missing pumpkin seeds, that were listed on the menu. Furthermore, both lots of pancakes were particularly dry and dense. With the price that's being charged, I would have expected a better quality of food. At no point did staff come to our table and ask if everything was okay. As we had two dogs with us we had to sit outside. This meant we had to pay when we ordered. Had this not been the case and we paid upon leaving, I would have certainly mentioned how unhappy we were with our meal. Sadly, I think this experience will prevent me from returning for brunch again.

We had a really good experience at the cafe. We weren't aware that the restaurant would be that busy on a Sunday and did not make a reservation, but they were able to move some tables around and seat our party of 4. The service was really good and staff were patient and friendly with us as we had a number of menu questions and add-ons. The pancakes were delicious!

A very disappointing visit, I have visited for afternoon tea previously and throughly enjoyed it, sadly the offer and quality of the food has dropped, a sausage roll that was lukewarm on the outside and cold inside, quiche that was stone cold and dry scones. When a member of staff eventually came and asked was everything ok I said sadly not, there was hardly an apology and no offer to put things right. I shall not be returning.

Booked for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Good job as it is a busy place. We were there ready at 10.00 when it opens and it didn’t take long to be almost full. Lady at entrance was actually very rude and treated four 60+ adults as if they were small children. She needs a few lessons in manners and customer service. Customers pay wages. The chap who actually seated us in the restaurant, as well as everyone else serving, was very good. Coffees and tea nice (hot which is good). Full breakfast nice. Avocado Benedict & Eggs Benedict almost nice......because.......poached eggs were hard on both of these which is a real shame and ruins the breakfast as they ARE the breakfast. Obviously too late to say or do anything as the other diner had their food and would either have to wait & let theirs go cold or eat ‘alone’ letting us wait instead and then watch us. It is expensive. I would say overpriced.

A family group looking forward to a pleasant breakfast was greatly disappointed. The place has lost its way big time. The staff were unwelcoming to the point of rudeness, the table was dirty and sticky [and others were saying the same], the food was uninspiring, the tea cups stained and the tea itself was undrinkable. A very poor effort all round. Despite it being local we won't be returning.

First and last time at Cobbs hungerford and we used the play barn. I would not recommend. We booked a table in the play barn at 12pm, got there and a party was in before us..it was hectic! We had to queue outside for nearly 10 minutes waiting to get it because the party still hadn’t finished. When we got in the floor was filthy, food and drink everywhere from the party. We were there a good 45 minutes before someone swept the floor and they only did this due to being asked by a member of public to. Not a good experience and will not be returning.

Such a disappointing visit to Cobbs Farm cafe. Was meant to be an early mother's day treat with a pot of tea and a nice piece of cake. Arrived mid afternoon and was told we could sit outside only as busy. Ordered 2 pots of tea and cake and 2x hot chocolate. We waited outside. Husband went in after 20 minutes of waiting and they'd forgotten about us completely! They had to retake our entire order. 10 minutes later, waiter came out with tea finally but no cake. Then, came out again and told my husband his cake choice was gone. Ridiculous service!!!! For quite a lot of money. Won't be going back again!

Mixed feelings really. I'll start with the good bit. I arrived at 12:00 on a Wednesday and got a table. The staff were friendly and got my baby a highchair, menus and water. I ordered the soup of the day which was parsnip and apple. It was really fresh and delicious! My three year old ordered the children's sausage and chips. 1 sausage arrived with a mound of cold chips. The sausage was hard and dried up...clearly left over from the breakfast/brunch and had sat under a heater for hours. I wouldn't have minded but for £6 I'd have expected a fresh sausage. The head foreign female waitress was also very rude. She was stood by our table barking orders at the other waiters and waitresses to keep running around and doing more even when they had explained to her they already had. You then pay at the same place you wait for a table...which makes for chaos at the entrance. This place could be great. Just needs a good manager to step up.

What on earth has happened to the Hungerford Cobbs cafe? It used to be buzzing, with lovely well cooked fresh food and good service. I haven’t been for a while and should have known something wasn’t quite right when I arrived this time and there was hardly anyone else there. It soon became apparent why. I was sat at a dirty table and given a very grubby, extremely limited menu. The food was terrible, very poorly cooked and fatty. The eggs I ordered were undercooked with runny egg whites and thus inedible so I sent them back. When they returned they were very overcooked, dried out and dripping in oil. To top it all, I also found a hair on my plate. The man who served me was arrogant and clearly couldn’t care any less. I don’t eat out often but felt I needed a bit of a treat. What a huge expensive disappointment. I kick myself for not checking the reviews first as it seems my experience was not a one off. With all the amazing eateries in Marlborough I will never return to Cobbs.

Visited the cafe after pumpkin picking. We booked around a week in advance as they get busy especially around October for the pumpkin picking. We were greeted and served by a polite waitress and the coffee and food were nice and quick. I do think £10 for a toastie is expensive, and we opted to add chips on for +£2.50 and you don’t get many. It’s not somewhere we would go regularly due to the high prices. The cafe is buzzing with staff, maybe even overstaffed as it seems chaotic. It would be good if you could pay at your table as you have to go up to the counter and it ends up with a crowd of people at the entrance, half paying and half waiting to be seated.

Visited the farm today with our 8 month old to take her pumpkin picking. When we arrived it was super busy. We had a hungry baby and decided to visit the cafe first. When we arrived there was a queue to the entrance which we stood in for a couple of minutes before my partner decided to nip up to the front to see if the queue was for tables or for paying (we saw people with their cards out). My partner politely asked if we were ok to take a seat at one of the multiple empty tables we could see in the restaurant or if that was what the queue was for. Right at that moment a waitress walked past and barked “unless you’ve got a booking you’re not getting a table” in the most impolite manner, I was shocked. Having worked in hospitality for over a decade myself I understand that we didn’t book ahead and could see that the farm shop/pumpkin picking was busy so we weren’t bothered about the fact that they were fully booked (bad planning on our part, however we have been to the farm every year for pumpkin picking since 2020 and it had never been this busy). It was just the manner in which this woman spoke to us. Next year we will be trying somewhere else.

Came for pumpkin picking (do not recommend!) and booked a table in the cafe. Had heard that this was a really nice place to eat at, but was left rather disappointed. The staff seemed lovely but very busy. The staff member who initially greeted us was quite sharp in manner when asking if we had booked. We were seated at a very small table for four people, barely managed to fit everything on. The menus were a bit grubby looking, and crumbs from last guests still all over the seats and table. The menu was quite limited, not much choice for vegetarians, and nothing child friendly. It was also very expensive for what you got, £3 for a small can of fizzy drink, £10 for a toastie. That being said the food we did have was good. There seemed to be cakes/ice cream etc but no mention of that on the menu and no one came to clear plates or offer desserts. We actually had to go find someone just so we could pay the bill and leave. I wouldn’t recommend or go back again, have had much better experiences at other farm shop/cafes.

Lovely farm shop and also gorgeous flowers and plants. Good location and lots of parking. In the cafe, we only wanted a drink but had to wait quite a while whilst the person on the till finished some paperwork they were completing before seating us. We then had to ask for the table they took us to be wiped as previous customers’ food crumbs were all over it. Paper menu was also really grubby. Coffee was a bit cold when it arrived but was replaced without any problem. The food coming out to other tables looked very nice though (especially the toasted sandwiches) so I’ll probably give it another go especially as the farm shop is so nice!

We chose to stop here for lunch. The restaurant was barely a quarter full. There were five of us and we chose a long table that could potentially seat eight - mostly because my mother-in-law had a mobility walker and we could tuck it away so it wasn't a hazard for anyone. As we sat down, a lady came and asked us to move as this table was 'reserved' for a party of eight. Four people then arrived, sat there and only had drinks. . . .the other four never made an appearance. We ordered chips with our meal but they never arrived, tables around us remained uncleared for the duration of our stay, while four staff members stood chatting. When I tried to pay I was given a different tables bill. . . .the food was ok but certainly not worth a return visit. The young waitresses were polite but it seems they are lacking in training. Maybe if the other lady spent more time showing them the ropes, rather than moving us unnecessarily and rather officiously, we may have had a better experience.

Sunday lunch (slow roast belly of pork) was OK but the service was poor. Waiter service inattentive and very slow, even though less than half the tables were occupied. I reluctantly gave the staff a tip as it’s unfair to penalise the staff for bad...

We are usually regulars at Cobbs and it never failed to disappoint, until recently. The quality of the food itself is definitely worse. My partner had the burger and it was not only over cooked and dry but definitely a cheaper burger than what they...

I dropped in to Cobbs Farmshop coffee shop last Friday for a coffee at 10.30am. It was an unpleasant, rainy and windy day. As I bundled myself in to the cafe I was greeted by an equally cold and unpleasant member of staff. No greeting...

Arrived en-route home. Popped in for pot of tea (1) a Coke and a toasted Teacake. Three young people were at the reception area chatting amongst themselves. No acknowledgement of us standing in front of them, until the usual“hrmm”. Was shown a table and menu. Order taken. After a good 15mins and Two attempts of Calling across the cafe for attention I asked where our order was as another table who arrived after us had already started their meal. He went away towards the kitchen but upon returning he went straight back to the reception area with no indication of what the delay was. At that point we got up to leave. Having got as far as the Shop area I looked back and said there was a lack of Customer Service skills. They were non existent. A lady member of staff who didn’t identify herself came over and asked if we had a problem. Really ?I reiterated my feelings to her. There was no apology, no empathy , Nothing. She also went back to join her colleagues. We walked out. I sent an email message to the store with my comments. No acknowledgement. That says it all .Perhaps management need to learn “Customer Service.”

The lunch menu looks good but the offerings are very ordinary. Dishes described as ‘skin on fries’ came out as chips, chicken and mozzarella panini dry panini / chicken and certainly not melting mozzarella. Saddened to I’ve say I’ve tasted better in a Costa. Presentation, ambiance and pretence of posh eating venue doesn’t succeed in persuading you that you’ve had a good experience.Good food quantity but had indigestion after only a few bites.Card payment system, always asking if you want to pay a gratuity seemingly a way of making you feel guilty if you don’t. Have been before and liked the occasion but will be very cautious about trying here again anytime soon.Service was attentive and quick.

What a pleasant surprise!Last time I visited I was disappointed .Today was a special friends birthday so was apprehensive but it was convenient for both of us coming from different directions.Greeted by the manager ChrissyFriendly, nothing too much trouble, was quite okay when we changed our mind and wanted to sit inside. All the necessary fresh table wipe downs done. Staff were friendly, smiling this time and quick with orders, drinks Food was tasty and noticed the manager welcomed All the diners personally which was also different from last time. staff were attentive and smiling. Well done

Popped in for coffee, tea and a piece of shortbread and waited 25 minutes for it to arrive. Couple on the next table received their drinks and breakfast within 10 minutes! Tea, cappuccino and shortbread were very nice though..

We ordered our coffee and breakfast which was very enjoyable. When it was time to pay I offered a twenty pound note which was refused as Cobbs DO NOT ACCEPT MONEY only electronic transfers! This is not stated anywhere when accessing the restaurant or by the staff when you are seated. Unlike shopping where you can choose to leave and return the items this is not the case in a restaurant that takes the payment at the end of the meal! There has not been a single documented case of Covid infecting cash and of course anyone handling cash would use a hand sanitiser. This is just a very badly implemented policy that is blindly following the dangerous path to a cashless society. If you share my opinion then shop elsewhere.

I met friends recently at Cobbs for lunch. It wasn’t busy inside and their Covid measures were good.We waited quite a long time to be served, but when the food arrived it was tasty ( I can only speak for myself here as I didn’t taste my friends!) I had the BBQ chicken quesadilla with salsa and it was very good. my only gripe was the salad was on a hot plate! We wanted water, but it was impossible to get anyone’s attention, I eventually had to call across the cafe! After our main course was finished we sat for about 15 minutes before someone came to clear the plates, she only took half of them and never came back for the rest. We were not asked if we had enjoyed the meal or if we would like desert . When we decided to pay there were no staff in sight , several people were outside queuing to come in but staff were nowhere to be seen. I went off to find a few of them chatting amongst themselves. The waiting staff were all young people so possibly had little experience of customer service, but this could be improved so easily with a few tweaks and some good training.

As a paid treat my 87 year old mother rang Cobbs on 17th to book a table for 3 people on 18th. (She had to ring me for the phone number as she has no mobile/computer) She booked the lunch for 12.15.We arrived on time and no booking was logged!! No apology and treated like the mistake was ours!! Fortunately there was one table left outside. Lucky that my elderly mother is weather strong. Only on leaving and paying did I spot blankets by the till (not offered). Waited ages for food, they forgot the sugar, water, coffees. I had to go back inside to inquire. For an expensive farm shop where we are regular customers it’s a poor show. Will be doing lunches at The Pelican Pub up the road from now on.

My wife and I were on our way to the Pig Hotel near bath and decided we wanted to have something to eat and drink half way there and rather than stop at a service station we used a website called ‘theextramile.guide’ which tells you about great places to eat just off the motorway so we put in that we were approaching junction 14 on the M4 and Cobbs Farm came up as an option so we thought we would give it in try.It is about 6 minutes drive from the motorway and there is a farm shop to which the cafe is attached.Service was friendly and attentive and the staff observed COVID safety protocols wearing masks and keeping everything spotlessly clean. The food was great, my wife had a heritage tomatoes salad with Buratta and I had a Caesar salad with chicken, both were delicious and good portions. They did great coffee as well! There were lots of home made cakes and pastries available for afters but we decided to do without as were quite full and new that we were going to have a full 3 course dinner later on that evening. The shop was great with meat and cheese, all locally sourced if not from the farm itself. My overall view is that this is an excellent place to stop if you are on a journey but also a great place if you live locally which judging by how busy it was the locals are fully aware or others used the same website as we did.Highly recommended!!!

Visited here without booking on the of chance they had availability. Thankfully we were in luck. We were greeted by a lovely lady who sat us efficiently and politely helped us get checked into the venue. We ordered the asparagus brunch and crab cakes which was do die for the asparagus was amazing and so glad we where told we could purchased this from the shop. Our coffee was just as splendid! Unfortunately we couldn’t managed a cake however after being informed of how popular they are we decided to take some away with us.We had such a pleasant visit to Cobbs and would absolutely recommend to a friend. Staff friendly, service is efficient and the food is delicious!

An English village pub in a pretty village, serving fresh tasty food, where you can sit outside on a warm summer's evening or enjoy the comfort of the bar and restaurant. Hubby ordered skate, which came with a decent amount of potatoes and veg, I ordered the Rendang beef curry, the meat was tender and the flavour fabulous. Compared with other pubs in the area the food is reasonably priced. We sat at the window table overlooking the front of the pub, where there was an array of interesting books to ponder over while waiting for our food. A nice touch. BBQ food was on offer outside the pub, which was popular and looked good. We would happily go there again.
