I hate to be negative but feel it's needed! We were forgotten about so had to go back downstairs to ask to be served/have our order taken. We struggled with the paints as nearly every other paint pot was empty and numerous colours were missing from the supply they gave us - as nobody came near our table for the duration we ended up having to seek out more paint ourselves, get new brushes, wash pallets find serviettes to keep or painting area tidy. We would have liked another drink/cake during our visit but never bothered finding any staff to order as nobody seemed to care if we were there or not - so we just painted and left. Fifty + pounds for not the best experience!

Very rarely do i feel the need to write a poor review. However our latest visit to Cobbles & Clay was the worst experience i have ever had in an eating establishment. We were treating a friend to lunch so we booked a table as we know from previous visits it can be very busy. Our greeting was ok and we were shown to our reserved table. We ordered coffee while we waited for our food , the coffee was luke warm. The food arrived fairly quickly a bowl of chilli and rice cold with a dried skin on top, the Cajun chicken flatbread also cold ( i dont risk chicken not heated through). I spoke to the waitress who i have to say was really lovely and very helpful, she took the chilli and the cajun chicken away and ordered us fresh. The other member of our party ate their lunch a bhaji butty which was a very small portion while we waited. After around 15 mins the replacement food arrived.. the chilli was piping hot ( not rocket science microwaving a bowl of chilli). Unfortunately the Cajun chicken was again cold and i dont mean luke warm, i mean cold. I really didnt want to risk eating poorly heated chicken so i told the waitress and she took the dish away and said she would take it off the bill. She was so nice and kind if it had been left at that i would have been disappointed but would have put it down to a one off. However the next minute the manageress flies upstairs and marches over to the table to tell me in no uncertain that the chicken wasnt cold because she had watched it come out of the pan, she was very rude and abrupt. I said so are you saying i am lying? she gave us all a filthy look spun around and marched back downstairs. Never as a customer have i been spoken to in such a way , even the table next to us said how disgusting it was. Why the manageress thought i would lie about cold food and spoil what was meant to be a lovely treat for our friend i have no idea. I asked the waitress who was really lovely who the woman was who had spoken to us and she said she was the manageress. It is very unfortunate you have such a rude woman as your manageress as what i was writing off as a one off problem was ruined by her awful attitude , she left all three of us feeling really awful. I am a local person and after this experience i will never ever step another foot inside Cobbles and Clay and needless to say i will no longer be recommending . Such a shame.

We’ve been here before an always had good food and service but yesterdays was awful. A guy in a table near to us had returned his food as it was cold, the second lot of chicken was the same and when he complained again the manageress all but called him a liar for us all to hear. My friends food was also cold but after the treatment this poor chap received she wouldn’t say anything, so ate cold food. It was very disappointing as the owner has always been very accommodating and very professional on previous visits, I can only assume this woman is now running it her way - which is far from ideal. IF we return it will be on a day the owner is present not when this power obsessed manager is in charge. Totally ruined our lunch and guessing by the look on the guy & his friends ruined his too!

I'd wager this is the best breakfast in Haworth, maybe even in West Yorkshire. I had the crumpet melt but I turned it into the fanciest Eggs Benedict by adding hollandaise sauce and hash browns. Absolutely delicious. Fresh ingredients, hearty portions, all cooked fresh to order. The staff were all lovely and helpful too. We also took some cake away another day; a pecan tart and a bakewell tart, both were incredible.

Amazing! The best milkshake I have ever had! With oat milk and vegan soya ice cream. The food was also delicious. Super impressed. Lots of vegan and gluten free options - I am currently dairy free due to my baby being dairy intolerant and loved it here! Staff also super friendly and helpful. The place was unsurprisingly busy. I will definitely be coming back and trying the vegan cakes in the future.

The Scones were the worst we’ve had anywhere; they were so stale, we initially thought they were frozen. Asked twice for glasses of water and still never got any. Tea cups clean, but badly stained. The score is for the friendly staff (shame they forgot the water though) and the wonderful tea.

I never leave reviews however in this scenario I feel it is necessary! I went to Haworth the other day with my mum and 4 month old baby! After walking up the steep cobbles we decided we would go for a coffee as it was starting to rain. Before we even entered this cafe we were told by a young waitress that we would only be able to come in if we left the pram by the door!Anyone with a 4 month old baby will know you WOULD NOT leave them in their pram by a cafe door and you also can’t have them sat on your knee as they are unable to support themselves so you would struggle eating and drinking a hot drink! They offered no alternative and we were left out in the pouring rain having to walk all the way back down the cobbles!Honestly can’t believe a place that’s meant to be for children would discriminate against parents with prams! Definitely won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend going if you have a young baby and pram!!

Popped in for breakfast before our friends drove home when we were staying on for a longer holiday. A fab place for any vegans or veggies with buckets of choice. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area for a holiday. Milkshakes also have a dairy free option which is really rare!

We visit Haworth in September most years. One place we always go is the cobble and clay cafe. The staff are always pleasant and happy even when under pressure as they were the 2 Saturdays we were there. We always make at least one visit for breakfast and it never disappoints. The porridge is fantastic just how it should be. Other breakfast food is equally good. Mid day snacks are good and well priced. We have tried other cafes in the village but always graduate back here well worth a visit.

Went for lunch here yesterday as the menu looked very intriguing (later to realise it was far too ambitious for what they could cater for). I had the goats cheese sandwich which was actually good however my grandma had the quiche that she said was dry and lacked any flavour. My boyfriend had the shakshuka. Words cannot describe how awful this was. Considering it’s an Arabic/Middle Eastern dish there were so many spices that could have been added and yet it did not have a single one. It honestly was like a tin of tomatoes mixed with a as glass of water. There was no consistency or taste to it at all. We decided not to say anything as the staff were all very young and seemed quite anxious anyway. When we asked for the bill (£29.80) they paid £10 each and I asked to put the remaining £ 10 on my card. The girl charged me £49.80. When I pointed this out she panicked and asked a colleague. By the time the third colleague arrived to try to assist she asked me how much I needed refunding. To which I stated £39.80. She then left the £20 cash on the table and we had to physically hand it to them on the way out. I think the staff, although very young and inexperienced, did mean well but require a lot of training, especially the chef/s!

A lovely lunch and excellent experience at Cobbles and Clay. Booked by telephone prior to visit and very glad we did as saw people turned away due to it's popularity. Chose to eat before painting, the cajun flatbread and reuben sandwich were both delicious as were the cakes that followed. We chose our pots from an extensive range... a dog bowl at £16 and a teapot at £23. Paints were supplied and we spent a lovely couple of hours creating our masterpieces which we have left for firing and will pick up next week (postage is also available).

Popped in for a sandwich to takeout, bought a Cajun chicken on flatbread, if you dine in you get trimmings with it, coleslaw, salad, still a bit pricey but you pay for service. When you get it to take out there’s no trimmings but the price is the same, £7.50. Rather expensive for a few bits of chicken and a few slices of peppers, a place a few yards up the street knock a couple of quid off for takeouts and the sandwiches are much better. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

We managed to get a table here on a very sunny BH Sunday, lured by the Mediterranean veggie platter we saw other people ordering. (Cobbles and Clay is at the top of the main street so ideally placed). Along with the platter we had a couple of ciders and elderflower spritzer (new favourite drink ). What a delightful cafe, standing out even amongst the pretty impressive range of trendy eateries in this picturesque West Yorkshire village. We ate outside on the little terrace - taking the table with the bench and cushions to give us and our daughter the extra space for her sunny but wriggly 6-month old son. The waitresses were dead helpful, bringing us a high chair and moving furniture around for us. The menu’s excellent and changes regularly but has a strong Mediterranean flavour - think hummus, feta, tzatziki, sourdough toast, olives, avocado and much more, and there are some ace-looking all-day breakfasts and the like - and the terrace is an excellent spot for people-watching up at the top of the long cobbled historic main street. Highly recommended and we’ll certainly look to come back again.

My partner and I decided to visit for breakfast and we loved it! We didn't make a reservation but they managed to sort us a table, the food was good - coupled with friendly service. We would definitely recommend a visit - make sure to go early, this place tends to get busy!

We came to this establishment today for what we hoped would be a pleasant family lunch. Unfortunately we were greeted by a surly young girl who neither smiled nor gave me eye contact. The menus and cushions which I requested were practically thrown at us and then told she would return to take our order. At this point quite honestly we were thinking of leaving, however we decided to give the benefit of the doubt. It took three different waiting staff to finally take the full order! The food arrived in fairly good time but was disappointing and the fact that we had not had great service it really did not redeem your cafe.I then went to pay and was left standing at the covid point of contact and ignored by three members of staff. The whole experience left me feeling that I shall never want to return and actually I was sceptical about trying it as there are far nicer places in Howarth to eat where the food is of a higher standard and the staff treat the customers as they should be.

I've been in this tiny place just today, and I cannot not get here to mention this place for his many qualities. In a Haworth cobbled street, just next to the Parsonage you are welcomed by lovely people who run it, who serve you efficiently and give you Really Good Quality Food, of which you have a good choice, for a good price honestly while by the street you drink wine and finally we've been welcomed inside and being offered some drinks while warmly chatting with the owners and customers. You have to go there!Excellent!

It's the first time my 75 year old mother and I have been out to eat since February, we are both in the severely vulnerable group. We were given seats at a table that everyone has to closely pass to enter and leave. The staff didn't have masks on but still talked when they were holding our plates of food. The menus were non-laminated paper and had a couple of smudges already on them, so I don't see how they could have been cleaned. There was a bottle of something on a table that everyone assumed was antibacterial get, but it didn't evaporate or get absorbed by the skin at all, so we had to use tissues to wipe it off and then we had to wash our hands to get rid of the horrible stickiness. We ordered two haddock soups with bread and a ploughman's lunch between us. All of the food was excellent which is why I gave two stars instead of one. The soup was more of a stew, there were chunks of potato and fish in it. We asked for salt and pepper and a waitress brought it to us just by picking it up from another table, which makes me doubt they were cleaned between request. There were a few social distancing stickers on the floor that everyone including staff ignored, and to pay we had to queue up at a counter. There were floor markers there, and perspex barriers but I thought all places were meant to be entirely table service ? I may be wrong with that. We left very unhappy as although we enjoyed the food, the meal was spoilt by the anxiety of trying to stay safe whilst staff didn't give much of a thought to how dangerous their carelessness was. We've been to two other places since and they have made every effort to adhere to the rules. I didn't want to write a bad review but I really can't stress to the owners and the customers how dangerous this negligence is to people who are vulnerable. It really is a matter of life or death to some.

Over priced. The food here is average. The service is shocking badly. It’s overpriced especially the pottery and painting. Haworth has much more to offer than this.

We popped into Cobbles and Clay on a busy Saturday lunchtime. It was the Steam Gala weekend and we had already tried another place but there were no tables.Initially we were told that Cobbles and Clay were also full but as a two we were found a table.I always love their soup and love the daily specials as well as the vegetable and Lentil on the main menu.My Husband had a sandwich on lovely fresh chunky bread. The place was full and tables were being instantly turned but it didn’t effect the level of service with a smile.

When in Haworth I always call in for the chicken stew, especially on a cold winters day it really helps warm you up.

Cobbles and Clay has become my go to cafe, whether it’s just for a drink or lunch. Despite being a vegan/vegetarian I find there are always so many meals I want to try and am continuously going back, bringing friends, family or going solo. The food itself is tasty and fresh - the drinks are nice too. It’s not pricy but not cheap either, however I’d say pretty good value. Every now and then it does get a little busy and noisy but it’s such a nice place it’s completely worth it. Over time I have been often and am slowly working through the menu! (and I have also taken lots of photos) (I’d really recommend the green reviver smoothie)

We all enjoyed lunch here on a recent visit to historic Haworth. Very busy cafe Saturday. Soup very healthy but small portion. Trio of fish delicious. And casserole too. Cakes equally good. Home made I think. Service ok. Whole visit spoilt by sticky tables, dirty cutlery and grubby toilet area. 2 stars for cleanliness. 4 for food.

Myself my wife my son and my grandson paid a visit for a bite to eat and was really suprised at how full it was. This means to me that the food must be good. We ordered our food including the soup of the day, fish finger sandwich, pie of the day and mac and cheese. All the food was well received and top quality. On the way out there was still a queue at the door. Enough said. Try it and see !!

What a wonderful visit we had. My 4 year old niece and I went to paint a pot and have a bite to eat. I just got a chicken mayo sandwich which was lovely and fresh, came real quick. We both helped paint the pot which was fantastic, we cannot wait to go and collect our creation! The whole vibe of the place is just lovely and so many helpful staff at hand. We already can't wait to visit again.

After reading the reviews and the menu outside this lovely little shop I was left a little disappointed! We were created my a lovely waitress who explained that gluten free foods were highlighted on the menu and asked if I'd like to see the cakes. Yummy I thought... Then I saw the cakes all mixed in with normal cakes! Cross contamination was a total nightmare! Acceptable for those with gluten intolerance but a no no for Coeliacs. After studying the menu I tried to order pate with GF toast, the waitress went to check for me and came back to say the pate was a may contain I ended up with smashed advocado and GF toast, it was nice but a little bland. Nice place, great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff but not the GF experience I was expecting

We visited just before Christmas. I had a ham & pickle sourdough sandwich with side salad which was disappointingly small and overpriced. The scones were dry and claggy. The atmosphere and decor are appealing, but food could be improved.

Visited here on a busy Tuesday lunchtime and enjoyed the ambience and menu. Great tasty food and very friendly staff. Whilst we appreciated getting seated during a busy period, our table was not in an ideal spot as very close to stairs and didn’t feel it offered enough room for staff and guests to get around. Would definitely visit again.

Can’t complain about staff they were brilliant, but the food was not worth the money, we had Yorkshire rarebit £17.95 It tasted like the bread had just been flattened and pressed into a small flat bowl topped with loads of cheese and stuck under a grill which the bread felt very hard to cut and quite solid it was topped with 3 half cherry tomatoes and a salad leaf (one) Not impressed We had come for the experience decided not to have the cakes as didn’t want to spend anymore money It’s not hard to make cheese on toast should of been better

We live in baildon, and have used cafe Nine quite a lot. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Quick to get your order taken, even if they are very busy. They have a bit of seating outside too which is nice when we do have some sun! Food is always nice and fresh. Usually have a large breakfast and coffee. Never disappointed. Absolutely no problem recommending them if you fancy a bite or a coffee, they will sort you out!
