such a lovely place to have drinks. we went for the comedy night and really enjoyed it. staff are amazing and very reasonable prices. special mention to a young ginger girl who was on the bar. she made me and my friends feel so welcome and seemed to know the bar and system so well even though it was her second day. she made conversation with us like we were friends and indulged our long winded stories. she gave us amazing drink recommendations and made the experience 10 times better. unfortunately i can’t remember her name as it was unusual but she definitely deserves the credit. i would definitely come again and give her the praise in person

I was out with a group of friends on Friday when one of them fainted. It wasn’t the bar prices I can assure you. It was an undiagnosed medical condition. Straightaway the bar manager, Chris, came to help. He called for an ambulance and took control of the situation. I find it very reassuring that, beyond the friendly and warm reception from the bar staff, there is another level of professionalism. Chris has obviously had training for this kind of situation and dealt with it in his stride. I would like to say a big thank you. Stewart.

Hi all. Booked this as it was on the top list of places / restaurants/ pubs to visit in Harrogate. Downstairs is the main pub which is 99% drinking which is fine. Managed to eventually grab a table for pre diner drinks. All good so far expect that there was only 1 person on the bar and he was also clearing the glasses away which meant several people were waiting for drinks. Dell the bar person was great despite being run off his feet. Poor management and staffing from the company here. Went upstairs for our meal and the place was dead and I mean dead. The chap bless him Neo had worked a 14 hour shift and was cleaning the pub before it opened. This is simply crazy that staff are put under this pressure when they are so customer focused. Lovely team of 2 but we asked to leave as the toilets were appalling too. The manager knew that but simply run off his feet. I’d put pics on here of the loos but it’s not worth it to spoil anyone’s meal if they decide to visit. Shame that these companies put pressure on their staff. Cleaners, bar staff and restaurant managers plus waiters all in one. Not good enough. Good luck dell and neo I hope the management see this and change things.

The food was fine but the service was poor on the Saturday lunchtime about 12 of us visited. Mainly because I asked if they could prepare and bring my 1 year old son’s food out first, because it would take some time to cool down and infants aren’t known for being patient. Wait staff agreed but then brought it out last, a good 15+ minutes after others had received their mains. Even if the instruction was forgotten, I don’t understand why they would prepare a child’s meal last, seems pretty careless to me. After they brought the meals out they disappeared entirely, no offers of condiments, I had to go up and wait at the empty bar for someone to appear. Plenty of us were having chips, burgers etc so this also should have been obvious. Seemed like they were not interested in working.

We used to love this place before it closed (sometime during 2021?) We’ve not been back since it reopened and what surprise - a major renovation has transformed this place and it looks chic and upmarket but still comfortable and cosy. The food was fantastic - I had the steak pie and my husband had sea bass and mussels and both were great. Another plus is the staff - we were served by the main bar man (possibly the manager/owner?) Really friendly, professional and helpful too. The upstairs was being set up for an event/bookings so we couldn’t eat there, but I was allowed a thorough nosy and I look forward to revisiting and eating up there as it looked amazing (interior) with some cracking views out onto the Stray :)

So different from West Park Hotel which is fun and vibrant with lots of ladies. The Coach was nearly empty again, we spent £60 on beer but the bar tender opened the front door for 5 mins and it was really cold so we left and went to the Tap on Tower Street and that pub was busy and vibrant. I think the Coach should close, we will Not return. We tried the Coach again 13/10 quite busy at 8pm on a Friday night with a much improved atmosphere, rate it 4 stars this time, a significant improvement.

Enjoyed the vegan/ vegetarian option of sag aloo pie but it didn’t come with the promised Yorkshire pudding or roast potatoes. Maybe I should have asked as they may be vegetarian but not vegan and are only served if requested? Perhaps staff could ask if they are wanted when a pie is ordered? Food was tasty I had pie my mum had fish & chips but I thought the pricing was a bit steep, I’d bought a Harrogate voucher, pay £15 to get £30 off the spend, we had two meals, some quite dry cake and black ice cream for pudding and 2 drinks and the cost was over £70 which for pub grub is steep, so even with the discount I’d paid for it was still expensive. I think the issue is that if you by the voucher it cancels out any offers on the menu so it was disappointing. we were taken to sit upstairs despite tables being free downstairs and it was empty apart from two members of staff planning a wedding with a couple, which went on throughout our meal and the woman who works there was really quite loud. it was important to them but for us it was like sitting in an office listening to a meeting and we shouldn’t have been taken upstairs when the staff knew there was a meeting going on. Not the greatest experience I’m afraid

This former town centre boozer closed in controversial circumstances and was acquired, refurbished and opened by the near West Park Hotel. The trouble was nobody really new what it was supposed to be, a bar? a restaurant? - the result is it's just a mess in my view. We went in on a Saturday evening where there were just four customers in, and non of them dining. The place has no atmosphere, perverse decor and lighting - extremely high prices and I really can't see it being there for much longer. Certainly I have made my last visit there.

It’s been fairly recently refurbished and it’s got a lovely clean interior now, and a very cosy place. It feels a little more geared toward dining rather than just a drink, but there’s no trouble finding a table for the latter if you wish. The staff are super friendly at the bar and service throughout my visit was brilliant. The prices are cheap too considering the high end feel inside. It’s a really nice pub and somewhere I’ll certainly be returning too.

Infinitely more welcoming and better than it was before the refurb. Great Sunday lunch.

Booked Sunday lunch on 1 Jan as had been there for a few jars over the festive period a couple of times (as tourists from the South) and as luck would have it we just stumbled upon it to be fair. We thought the menu...

Omg, how sh*t, awful. Foods good, but it's not the pub I remember. It was the best, most welcoming pub in Harrogate. Now it's just another gastro pub

Meet up with friends. I had a nice curry and the others enjoyed food. Bitter was kept well. Ticked the boxes thank you.

Noticed today - 13th November 2024 - some work being done on the entrance - so this lovely pub may be opening again soon.

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))
