Another good Whitstable pub. We only stopped by for a short while, but there was a good atmosphere, some decent music playing and the service was good. There was a good selection of drinks and there is also a small space outside to enjoy the sunshine if you are lucky enough to grab a seat. Unfortunately, we were not on our visit, but we will try again another time.

Absolutely love this pub! My sister and brother-in-law live in Whitstable and they introduced us to it - best pint of Guinness outside of Ireland, banging food and cocktails, really friendly staff and management - what’s not to like! Always a good crowd in there too with great DJ sets on Friday and Saturday nights. It was hard to leave, great fun and looking forward to going back next time we visit 🙏🏼👍🏼😍🍻🍺

Six-months down the line & a good few return visits, this gem on the High St is our regular. Feeling like a proper pub in Ireland (not a tacky Irish themed pub), The Coach has a warm welcome which makes you want to stay for the craic (& of course the lovingly curated Guinness). Everyone works so hard to create a safe, fun vibe. Not only in the creation of a ‘By Day’; chilled welcoming day time, dog-friendly drinking hole & ‘By Night’; lively, interesting & oh-so-fun venue, but also in the pubs transformation. Since taking over this little piece of Whitstable history Maddie & Sarah have revamped both exterior & interior (inc’ brand spanking new toilets), set up the oh-so cool (Insta-haven) courtyard with weekend stone-baked pizza & of course decorated in their unique, and at times humorous style; putting some heart & soul back into this end of the High Street. Maddy, Sarah I don't know how you do it but you pick some top bar staff. They do you proud. Whatever your approach in selecting and then training them up, it's spot on. They are welcoming & attentive without being pushy, helpful & chatty when you want them to be, and so on the ball. Hats off to you and what you have achieved in a little over only a year!

This place is just what you want from a pub. Sarah & Maddie have created a fun, safe, lively and cracking place with the friendliest of welcomes. The staff are brilliant, attentive and on the money with the drinks. The Guinness is the best in Whitstable thanks to Maddie's attention to detail and the staff know how to pour it. Great selection of spirits and beers on draft. Screens for sports viewing but also areas to sit and chat if that's not your thing. Pizza oven in the garden is fab and DJ nights on Friday's & Saturday's are not to be missed. Dogs are very welcome, with snackage on the bar. If you're looking for a friendly fun boozer which welcomes everyone - this is the place. We just love it!

Unfriendly / zero welcome, over priced drinks and comments made by staff about us. Really disappointed with the service and what this pub offers. Whitstable pubs are famous for being friendly and welcoming and sadly, this is very short of the mark. Much work to do. Will not be back and will not be recommending to anyone.

After exhaustive research of Whitstable watering holes...of which there area healthy few, The Coach has become our favourite. The staff, and owners are all so friendly, welcoming and chatty (if that's your thing... respectful if not) and give the place a real positive vibe with great customer service. Example; they had run out of a favourite tipple from one visit to the next, but by the time of ordering our 2nd round it had been secured elsewhere and was in the optics! It has a well stocked bar, including the best pint of Guinness in The Bubble, and an impressive spirits selection including some locally made which is nice. Oh btw, not tried the food, but given 5*s as they serve Taytos!

A great, unassuming little boozer with fabulous music and a killer back garden full of plants and great artwork. Good conversation taken as read. Shepherd Neame owned - but the landladies are able to make that work in their own imaginative way, and not everyone can manage that magic

Great little pub - how pubs used to be before everything got too corporate. Don’t come here if you’re after cookie-cutter polished floors, farrow and ball paintwork and a lifeless atmosphere - all done to a formula dictated by head office. Do come here if you want a cross section of conversations, an awesome art school 80s background playlist and a hark back to your heady student days, only now you’ve grown up. Food can be ordered from nearby restaurants, drinks and cocktails are good and it’s dog friendly (obvs). What’s not to like!!

A group of us popped in for a drink as we were trying out the various pubs along Whitstable high street. The bar staff took ages to serve us even though there were no other people waiting. About 10 minutes later, the staff went round closing the curtains and started switching off the lights behind the bar. It was about 9pm. When we asked if they were closing, the barman just shrugged. So bizarre.

We were a party of six who met up here from all over Kent which had been organised by one of the group. Instantly made very welcome and shown to our reserved table. We were served by the most delightful character Jenny, who we later found out is the landlady. "Character" just begins to describe this fine lady and the pleasure she brought to our table for the four hours we were there. The food was a typical choice of Sunday roasts, cooked to perfection and brought to our table by excellent staff. If you're in Whitstable, give this pub a try; I'll doubt you'll be disappointed.

Nice for a beer, but the food wasn’t great at all … the pizza in particular was probably the worst “restaurant“ pizza I ever had, with (what tasted like) a shop bought crust, totally devoid of any seasoning, and a somewhat stale aftertaste. Have a drink and save your appetite for somewhere else!

Nice place but shame we weren’t allowed to sit there. As soon as we got in the guy said takeaway only. He was incredibly rude and told us it’s takeaway only many times whilst ordering as my kids sat down waiting for our drinks. He also told us the toilet was out of order which looking at other reviews, seems to be the case all the time! The drinks were ok, the lobster tails were not bad but service very poor. Wouldn’t recommend.

We used to enjoy this place thirty years ago, and returned in 2024 to find it's just as magical as we remember. A hidden gem in Whitstable. Great staff, and a lovely range of simple food and drink deliciously made. They don't sell papers and magazines any more, as the 'times' have moved on!
