Good coffee and cakes with prompt service and reasonable price. As coeliac sufferer, pleased at the clear GF labelling and being wrapped, very reassuring.

OK if you are a dog lover. This small cosy coffee shop is now a pets paradise overwhelmed with dogs . Every customer seems to have at least two dogs which are held up at tables licking their owners food. THose sat on the floor are on long leads serving as a trip hazard for the unwary or jsut blosking access to the tables. The staff are polite and the coffee reasonably priced , but I do wonder about the hygiene side of things wit hpet owners seemingly doing as they please. If the owners want non dog owning customers ? suggest they only allow dogs on the outside tables. Will be seeking another venue for my coffee - a shame because i used to enjoy the cosy atmosphere .

Sorry but I really struggled to find anything nice about the food (limp lettuce, tiny portion and very warm) or coffee (americano tasting of hot water and cheesy milk) and the cutlery still had encrusted food on it. The staff were nice though. I don’t like to write a bad review.

Visited yesterday. The service is always slow here but yesterday was the worst yet - i could not get served at the table and I could not get served at the counter so I left and went elsewhere. Shame, because the food is not bad.

I have come in here almost weekly for over a year and the coffee is great. I’ve had a few different snacks and meals too and again, never had a bad experience. Staff are kind and friendly.

I have never tasted coffee quite like it!! I ordered two cappuccino’s. 15 minutes later I tried to locate waitress that took my order at the counter. No luck 😮. I found another waitress who said “we are extremely busy”. There were no more than 10 people already seated and either drinking or finished drinking! Within 5 minutes the coffee arrived. Again stating “we are very busy” but no apology. Worse was to come sadly. I think they missed when putting the coffee in the cup. It was similar to my first ever cuppa aged about 7. Hot milk with a couple of grains of coffee for colour. This did have foam though, about 2”of it! All in all 20 minutes and £5.50 I have wasted. I should have taken a photo but was so annoyed and left after repeatedly stirring to see if the coffee was stuck in the bottom of the cup somehow. It wasn’t 😡

Arrived at 3:46pm for a takeaway coffee, having heard how great the coffees were, only to be told everything had been turned off. They close at 4pm.

It's a bit tired and grubby, to be honest. Cracked and chipped crockery gives a sense that it could do with a refresh.

The best place in the town for proper coffee. We had 2 espressos outside on a sunny day and the taste makes you think of all those holidays we will take again sometime. But don't miss out on enjoying life now.... who would have thought you would find such a gem in Mortimer Street. Didn't try the food but there looked as if there were some tempting options.

Decided to treat myself to a cafe breakfast while in Herne Bay. There are several cafes along this stretch of high street and I picked Cafe Latino.Good scrambled eggs and a nice sausage - and just the right size meal for me, though of course everybody's appetite is different. Excellent coffee. Decent value and friendly service.

Brought 3 cups of tea which cost 5.85 so it was 1.95 for one small mug of tea. When I asked I was told 1.95 is what it costs for a pot of tea and it is the same price for a small mug of tea. Good job I never asked for another three teas that would of been nearly 12 pounds absolutely outrageously expensive wont be going back there for a cuppa. And also when I asked about the price I felt I was in the wrong

This is a great local cafe with consistently first class coffee, which is always hot. Staff are really friendly and work really hard to please. We love supporting our local businesses and this cafe never fails us. The location is also great, cosy inside winter and great outside for watching the world go by in summer

Visited with family, seven of us, mid afternoon for a coffee. Sat indoors and was advised straight away that a lot of the food items were sold out, which was understandable given the time of day and that the cafe is popular. We were fine as we only wanted drinks. Staff were friendly and served quickly. Quality was good and price reasonable. Butter biscuits were lovely.Thank you.

This is a great little coffee shop in the middle of Herne Bay. We have been here several times now and love it. Great coffee and tea with a choice of various cakes on offer. Great for people watching with the outdoor seating. Staff always cheerful.

Just visited this lovely café with a group of friends. Great service and very friendly with delicious cakes! Would defiantly go back again on my next visit to Herne Bay, everything about it was charming.

Just after 3pm we stopped in Herne Bay for a drink and sandwich or panini. Unfortunately we chose this café with a few tables outside. Having ordered drinks at the counter, we were told that kitchen was closed and only cake available, so we ordered a piece of pear cake and plum cake with ice cream - the sponge had no taste and very little fruit. The teaspoons were stained and had rings of dried coffee on them, so weren't used. The fork had a pinky glaze on it that - when wiped with a tissue - turned out to be lipstick!!! I then had to ask for a spoon to eat the ice cream and was given a tarnished odd-shaped item. We were then made to feel uncomfortable asking to use the cloakroom which luckily was clean, but with a dirty towel. We should have said something, but had been made to feel unwelcome because they wanted to close at 4pm. Had they advised this when we arrived, we would have gone elsewhere. How I wish we had as the hygiene standards were disgusting and the whole experience unpleasant. If they can't keep the cutlery clean . . . what goes on in the kitchen???

We eat here quite often, it's always fresh and very tasty. Staff are always very helpful.

Once again we were at this little gem for a coffee and cake. The staff seem to smile al the time and nothing is too much for them. Even my husband, who is not a great one for afternoon coffee, likes it a lot here. Recommendable!!

I was walking into Herne Bay looking for a place for a coffee. Lovely atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Only had a coffee but will be going back to have some cake as it looked delicious.

Cappuccino very poor, a weak bowl of milk with no coffee flavour and virtually no foam.

Lovely on a nice day to sit outside and we use as regular meeting point for meetings with friends and family for a chat

My husband and I came to Herne Bay for the day, it was a pleasant Sunday afternoon and we decided to stop at this lovely coffee shop, the ambience was lovely, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful, very accommodating. The coffee was superb with a lovely creamy taste. The breakfast was something else, the sausages were so flavoursome, the eggs were definitely free range and the bacon was so tasty. I will defiantly becoming back, lovely and welcoming

Attractive cafe with a lovely range of teas and coffees. Go for a sweet treat too and you won't regret the visit, the carrot cake is delicious! Light snacks, sandwiches available. Sit outside in the sun or inside in the attractive surroundings.

Myself, family members and friends stopped off at Cafe Latino for a quick bite to eat and a coffee Saturday afternoon.

The cafe is located so that the tables in the street are in a sheltered sunny location.

Decided to stop here for a late lunch/snack, I had a milkshake my partner had a fresh orange juice, both drinks arrived warm and tasteless, we also had the lasagna ! Bland and very small portions, the cherry on the cake was they only take cash, no signs up to pre warn you, unless it’s amongst the wall clutter.... so a walk to the nearest cash machine was had.. not impressed at all

I used to eat here a while ago, the foods ok, nothing to jump at, it seems to have gone a little down hill, not as good as it used to be. I venture inside occasionally for a coffee but thats about it. Staff however are always friendly.

... hey Latino guys ... love this little place but it's beginning to look shabby and tired ... take a day off and whiz the place up a little bit .. you have a lot of competition in the town now. I don't much like your new mugs much prefer the lovely white cups and glass coffee and hot choc holders.

My usual cafe was full so we came here for the first time, it was really good! Same prices as my normal and the coffees were both very good, comfy seats in the window and helpful happy staff, will come here again!

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, food is wonderful, good selection of teas and coffees, cakes look amazing, you can sit inside or outside, you can see them making the food, my husband says you must try the milkshakes.

I frequent herne bay a lot, and recently cafe latino has been under new management of a lady called Jo. And I cannot fault it, the coffee is perfect every time I ended up having several cups and sitting out the front for three hours, the service was incredible and made me feel very welcome. I also tried the mozzarella tomato and onion baguette and it was sublime. I will be back as often as I can, if you're in herne bay you would be wise to pay a visit, comfortable seating inside and out and plenty of choice from milkshakes to teas and coffees!

Good food lunch or a coffee albeit the menu could do with changing from time to time and it can be a bit pricey

we like this place for coffee & cake but its crowded & often we cant get a seat maybe because its so good & popular but others i know have similar complaints about seating/crowded/cramped space inside

This café has the best coffee in Herne Bay and we went there every day .The staff are very nice and gave a warm welcome

They served me a plain baguette, it tasted alright, but for that price level (£6) I expected something luxurious. Very slow service too.

We sat outside at a table in the sun - a real sun trap in a sheltered location. Staff friendly and quiche Lorraine lovely.

Popped in here during the afternoon. Good choice of hot drinks and light meals on offer. We had a latte, hot chocolate and a chocolate muffin each. Was very nice, service was good. They could do with offering more choice of cakes but it was late afternoon so perhaps choice was more limited than in the morning. Not the most economical place in the town for a coffee and cake but nice once in a while.

Lovely spot especially in the sun and some tables and chairs outside. A bit on the steep side, it's Herne Bay £16.50 for a baguette and a meagre salad is far too OTT.

we popped into cafe latino as it looked very welcoming . the panini and jacket potato we had were very nice and could'nt fault the service . The only minor thing was no frappe/frappuchino in the winter months! although the lattes we had were yummy enough!

Cafe Latino is a brilliant place to escape and enjoy the aroma of fresh coffee and tea. The food choice is amazing and freshly made. Service is second to none and everyone is always smiling.

Went here for a coffee on a very busy evening (herne bay light switch on) and despite the busyness, was served by really lovely staff and the drinks were lovely. Would recommend and I'll be going back!!

We stopped in Herne Bay and had to choose between this place and one nearby for a much needed flat white coffee - we opted for this one primarily based on an earlier review apparently from a retired barista. Well we must have very different tastes in coffee because neither of us were in the least bit impressed with their offering. It was far too large, hence lacking in taste, and the foamed milk was not at all smooth. I managed to finish mine, but my wife was unable to do so.

This little coffee shop has a fantastic atmosphere and the coffee and food is excellent. We ordered a beef and horseradish baguette and said we would share, it was served on 2 plates, half on each and both had a salad garnish and tortilla chips. The baguette was freshly baked served warm, it was delicious. We have only just discovered this little gem and would definitely recommend it. On our previous visits we have had cakes and they are also delicious.

As a former barista and coffee shop owner I take my coffee very seriously, Latinos is the only place I will drink coffee in herne bay

The homemade cakes are good and the coffee is nice but it's tiny inside with the chairs and tables too closely packed for comfort. Nice venue when it's quiet but at busy times even if you're able to get a seat it's not a comfortable environment which is a shame as care has been taken with the decor etc. It just needs to be much bigger - maybe an upstairs seating area if possible?

This was my first visit under current owners, although visited many times previously. The menu appeared smaller/fewer choices but they were very flexible and let us put a sandwich filling into our panini, even though not a 'standard' item.

I have been here a few times for coffee, which is good and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, my only qualm being very uncomfortable chairs with no lumbar support!
