We arrived very early for a Pre-theatre dinner and staff were very accommodating and altered their table plans to allow us to sit down early. The specials menu board was placed on the table to choose from in addition to the paper menus on the table. The handwriting on the board, together with the large amount of information, made it difficult to read. It was also an exercise in translation into what (at its most basic level) was fish and chips, burger, chicken supreme, gnocchi etc. Why use 5 words when you can use 20? We ordered a charcuterie board to share. It was described as a sharer. Perhaps I have been spoilt by recent visits to Rome and Normandy and some amazing charcuterie boards, but the Millers Arms charcuterie board was a standard sized dinner plate with a small chunk of cheddar, about 6 slices of continental meats, a tiny pot of oil and vinegar, some minute pickles and one small slice of sourdough cut into 2 half slices. We had 4 adults and at no point did our waitress say it would not be enough for 4. It was over £15 for this. Main courses came in good time. One of the menu items on the specials board was unavailable, but we didn't know this until after we had ordered (5.30pm!) . Food was lovely but served in cold dishes, so by the time my sons food was delivered a minute or two after my pasta, mine was almost cold. I asked for salt /pepper as none was on the table. The black pepper grinders didn't not work very well . I tried two but dinner was rapidly cooling down. They did work, but pepper was very fine. Staff and service were very good and attentive. I didn't raise any points at the time as food was good, it just could have been so much better with some very small improvements (such as hot dishes to keep food hot)

We had a gorgeous meal here today “the beef short ribs” the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth the fish and chips was also delicious it was more like a shark than haddock served with pea puree and chips all cooked to perfection. Highly recommended this place to eat and a big shout out to the chef 🫶🏻

Had a great stay here. The room was very cozy, consisting of a big, comfortable bed, a television, a desk with tea, biscuits, and a mirror, and a nice bathroom with toiletries. Everything was clean, and I felt very safe as a female traveling alone. The man at the front even carried my bag up the stairs for me, which was nice. They served a great complimentary breakfast in the morning downstairs, with many options. I got the American pancakes with berry compote and it was lovely. It was a very cute place, not far from the center of town. The price was reasonable for what you got. I would happily stay again.

We were simply walking by this pub at about 8pm and looking for somewhere that was still serving food as we realised it was quite late. Luckily they were still serving food here so we popped in. What a lovely place! We were so pleasantly surprised! This is a hidden, quiet place, off the beaten track. You wouldn’t go here unless walking by the place by accident or if you were specifically nearby so I feel it deserves a mention so more people visit. The decor was so lovely and warming inside, they did a lovely pint of Birra Moretti on Draught and their food was unique, well presented and all with delicious flavours. We ordered a selection of smaller plates for just £26! The price was incredible for the quality of food that we got. Definitely worth a visit if you want a nice, quiet, cosy pub with a warming feel and fantastic food. We will be visiting here again next time. Thank you! *****

The food is so good here, but just felt dangerous. It was steaming hot in the pub and still it was air tight. They have not grasped that the number one thing for preventing covid is distance and VENTILATION. There is no excuse for leaving all the windows shut when everyone in there is sweating. The waitress wasn't wearing her mask properly either. Is a shame as many of the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent but safety has to be a priority.

Marnie & her staff make this a bar & restaurant worth more than one visit. There is a welcoming & friendly atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to dine out. This must be one of the best Shepherd Neame pubs in Canterbury. The Millers Arms was off our radar for many years simply because it was in an area that wasn't on our regular route. It was only by accident that we were able to rediscover this bar & restaurant and have been very pleased that we did. The Millers Arms has become one of our favourite places. The food is excellent & we've never felt rushed. The Millers Arms is situated alongside the River Stour & is in easy walking distance from the city centre. Nearby is the open space of Solly's Orchard. If you drive, there are two car parks in nearby locations.

We had Sunday lunch at the Millers Arms and although the ambience was delightful, ideal to bring friends for a drink, we found the food below standard and disappointing. We will drop by once in a while for a drink but we will most likely will have already eaten. What was wrong with food? To be honest my Sunday Roast looked like it had gone cold and had been re-warmed up for me. The meat was not cut off the bone but processed slices and we wish we had gone to Wetherspoons instead. Booked a table for a small group of friends to eat here today for a pre Christmas Sunday roast lunch only to be told on arrival that they were not serving a roast due to the run up to Christmas?! What bright spark came up with that theory??? We were then told on the main menu, that one of the dishes was not available and there was only two left of another! I think someone somewhere hasn’t grasped the concept of parties eating out for pre Christmas get togethers... a family seated nearby also shared their disappointment. With that we left and went to a very nice neighbouring pub who were serving a roast and who couldn’t do enough for us so that our lunch was enjoyable. Shame on the decision maker at The Millers. Epic fail.

We had heard good reviews from friends & colleagues about the Millers Arms and decided to give it a try. One of the major problems of eating out in Canterbury is parking. We were pleased to find a public car park within close proximity of the Millers arms. I suggested to two business colleagues that we give it a try and we were not disappointed. The menu was varied and the seating arrangments and plain wood tables were different. We all chose different meals and left the Millers Arms satisfied. The only downside was the amint of time we had to wait. However this was offset by the quality of the food and the politeness of the waiting staff.

This pub restaurant is only 5 minutes walk from our home so when we moved there 2 years ago we thought it would a great place to eat occasionally. Out of 5 attempts we have been successful twice - excuses have been they were too busy even though tables in the restaurant were available, at 8.40 pm on a Saturday evening they had stopped doing food although there was nothing to indicate what time food finished and the best one they really didn't have much left. Despite all this we decided to give the Sunday roast a go and my husband booked in advance. On arriving on time, the waitress didn't have any record of hour booking but did find us a table at the end of the restaurant that was fine. First we were told that they had run out of roast beef, this was at 2pm when they advertise roast dinners from 12 to 4, but there was pork. We were going for starters but there were only three choices, red pepper and tomato soup, red pepper and chickpea houmous or cranberry and chilli chicken wings. I can't eat peppers or spicy food so no joy there. The two roast pork dinners arrived fairly quickly but did resemble something that had been thrown together from all the leftovers. No Yorkshire pudding and when I asked for some mustard it was given to me in the same pot you buy it in, crusted round the edges and obvious used by god knows how many people. This whole experience cost £12.75 per meal plus drinks. We didn't complain or ask to see anyone as it's completely pointless. Instead we really won't go there again and will certainly tell our friends and family not to bother.

Day off in Canterbury for my wife's birthday, looked around for lunch and this was on a path by the river, great location. Welcoming, attentive staff, nice open fire on a cold day. Excellent beer, food ok - I went for the liver which was OK, my wife went for the salmon which in her view was delicious. Only downside for me was the place was quiet so a bit lacking in atmosphere, maybe it picks up in the summer, so maybe worth a return visit to find out!

Eggs benedict availabe and presented to perfection. Quite a wait but I suspect they were waiting on the hen.

I haven't eaten here for a while but wanting to avoid most of the places in town full of frazzled Christmas shoppers we went along. The pub was decorated for Christmas and looked good but it was lacking a bit of atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food and drink orders were taken promptly and arrived quickly.Good 'home cooked' food and plenty of it - so much so there wasn't room for dessert.I would happily eat here again but maybe in a larger group to give more atmosphere.

We booked this pub for a meal as they allowed access to our 2 small dogs in the bar area for an evening meal. Food was good quality and the staff really attentive and friendly. Just a few minutes walk from the centre of Canterbury. Definitely would visit again.

Made a reservation for 7:30pm - gave our food order by 7:45pm - because last food orders had to be made before 8pm. By 9pm no food had arrived - therefore, we went to find the waiter and ask him where is our food??? It was then he realised that our orders ticket was not taken by the kitchen staff?!? The waiter then came back to our table to tell us it will only take 10 minutes for our food to arrive. Two eggs and ham dishes, a burger and a chicken..By 9:45pm still had no food - went to the bar and asked for the bill - the manager had the nerd to tell us that we will not get charged for our already prepared food - which we had not seen two hours later. He did not had the decency to do a discount on our drinks..This is the second time that this is happening at the same place. First time we went for breakfast - and we were left alone for 40 minutes before we had to get someone to take the order. The staff did not even know that they were serving breakfast at the place. So a piece of advice - INVEST IN CUSTOMER SERVICE - especially WHEN THESE CUSTOMERS ARE ACTUALLY LIVING NEXT DOOR TO YOUR PUB and they are your neighbours!!!!!!

I've eaten at the Miller's Arms before and as always, the ambience is welcoming and staff friendly, the one thing they cannot get right is that hot food tastes better...unlike the fire...which was blazing!

Old pub with low ceilings. Nicely laid out with plenty of room between tables. Had a lovely prawn sandwich and some onion rings which were the nicest I have tasted. Nice and crispy and not greasy. Would definately return!

We visited this pub restaurant three times on our trip to Canterbury. It was comfy throughout and the food was well priced. The service was good and the surroundings are lovely especially on a warm sunny day.

We spent a delightful lunchtime here this week. My wife had an excellent home made soup an I ate the crab cakes with a delicious home made coleslaw. They could not have been improved upon. It was a hot day and one of the parasols in the small garden area was not working but the manager and staff were so concerned to sort it out - a really attentive and delightful staff. Highly recommend and we have lived in the area for almsot 50 years!

We went here for dinner and stayed the night also. Lovely setting and delicious dinner and breakfast. For dinner we had the chicken, lamb and pork belly. For starter white bait and Guinea fowl aruncini. I forgot to take a pic of the starter but it was very generous. As were the mains. For breakfast I had the avocado & bacon on soda bread. The room we had was lovely, very clean and set out well. I would recommend The Millers to anyone who visits Canterbury.

We stayed at The Miller’s Arms for four nights and on one of them we sampled the restaurant. Although the Inn is a very good place to stay, and we would certainly go back there again the next time we are staying in Canterbury, we did find the restaurant slightly disappointing. The waiting staff is very friendly and helpful but we were not impressed with the standard of the meal. We both had steak pie, as we were informed by the menu that it was short pastry. However, although the filling with extremely tasty and plentiful, the pastry crust was not at all as I would expect a good short pastry to be. I wondered if in fact it might have been a hot water pastry, similar to a pork pie, as it certainly looked like this. If so, I suppose it would have been good, but not at all what I would expect of a steak and mushroom pie. However, I don’t think I have ever had vegetables cooked so well as they were here, just to the right degree, with just the right amount of “bite” but tender. I had treacle tart for pudding, which they willingly provided ice cream with at my request, instead of the advertised cream (which was also supplied, which was a pleasurable surprise. This was not like any treacle tart I had had before, but it was good nonetheless, and the ice cream was of excellent quality. The price was reasonable, compared to prices elsewhere. We were just slightly disappointed as mentioned, especially since the breakfasts are so good. I should, however, like to commend the staff for their unfailing cheerfulness.

Went there with a group and had an Asian style burger, which was delicious. Many of us thought we wouls be able to order fish & chips. Our group leader even phoned them in advance, telling them how many portions they should be able to prepare, but they still ran out of itl

I happened to be here for lunch. A jerk chicken wrap with sweet potato fries was remade for me into a gluten-free sandwich and side salad. It was fantastic! I will definitely eat here again!

The restaurant looks nice as did the menu & the staff were warm and friendly. However the food was abysmal at best. For starters:* The Stilton tart was pretty much a chutney tart with the faintest flavouring of Stilton. * The whitebait was soggy with no batter?!Mains:* 3 of us had the sausages with bubble & squeek. I think these sausages were the cruddiest sausages they could buy... possibly Walls sausages altho I'm not sure they were even that good. The bubble & squeek was lumpy & flavourless.* We also ordered the gnocchi which was a sloppy meal with hard lumps of gnocchi all stuck together - we sent this back it was so bad.Following our "meal" we went to La Trappiste which was excellent. Totally begrudge paying for such a disappointing experience.

Went for a Saturday afternoon meal with family who live in Canterbury. I couldn't fault the staff who were very friendly and attentive, but the food was rather disappointing. I didn't feel it lived up to the descriptions on the menu at all.My marinated mackerel on "artisan bread" came out on the same brioche buns the burgers did. The fennel "slaw" didn't taste of fennel and the wassabe mayonnaise was undetectable. The burgers were not that special at near £14, and the sweet potato fries were a little odd.It was a clean friendly pub but I think it is trying too hard to be up market. At over £70 for four people I expected more.

Unbelievably for the city centre of Canterbury, this pub has a slightly rustic feel brought on by the quiet streets and grassy canal area outside. Unfortunately, this does not work in the pub's favour, being more a kind of "outsiders not wanted" rustic atmosphere instead of my preferred "lovely countryside pub" variety. The barman did not seem to know his ales particularly well, and listed the wrong prices when we first asked which caused havoc when we then came to pay for the drinks we had already started. When asking for the toilets, he also directed us in the wrong direction at first.Despite it getting towards dinner time by this point, the pub was eerily quiet. My friend and I were the only ones in aside from the barman's friends for the majority of our time there. The seating was comfortable enough, but we had experienced better around the city earlier that very day. The walls seemed to need redecorating whilst we were there, with a slightly mouldy feel to the wooden boards. My ale was nice enough, but overall the experience in this pub was not fantastic.

I wanted to celebrate my Birthday (same as the Queen 21 April) but chose to go to the Millers Arms on a Friday 22nd evening. We had been for lunch previously and it was superb. Last night we had 6 noisy students such that I could not hear my wife opposite. I turned round and told them to keep the noise down. They did. I ordered the 10 oz Sirloin and my wife just had the Spitfire Bangers and mash. We both had a single large glass of wine (Montepulciano and Pinot Grigio). There was not a lot of waiter service as my wife had to go to the bar to order food and I had to go later to order some drinks! At the end of the meal another customer came up to me to remonstrate about me asking the students to lower their voices. Unbelievable. I really do not think a Friday nite for dining is a good one for what I think is a GREAT pub! Sorry.

Nice place but shame we weren’t allowed to sit there. As soon as we got in the guy said takeaway only. He was incredibly rude and told us it’s takeaway only many times whilst ordering as my kids sat down waiting for our drinks. He also told us the toilet was out of order which looking at other reviews, seems to be the case all the time! The drinks were ok, the lobster tails were not bad but service very poor. Wouldn’t recommend.

Nice for a beer, but the food wasn’t great at all … the pizza in particular was probably the worst “restaurant“ pizza I ever had, with (what tasted like) a shop bought crust, totally devoid of any seasoning, and a somewhat stale aftertaste. Have a drink and save your appetite for somewhere else!
