Superb evening, fantastic music and staff.

Decided to go for a jog along the sea front first, having seen a recent review. Excellent food, drink and atmosphere.

Wow! Great pub, brilliant! The pub is huge with a garden, they have live music at the weekend and jam nights, good food and it’s great to see they put allot back into the local community.. a really lovely place to visit.. DO IT !

Old fashioned boozer in Swalecliffe. Half full of loud overweight locals who've clearly been skipping the gym! Band almost drowned by the noise of the regs in there! Doubt if I'll be revisiting the place especially at nearly 8 quid for two bottles of 330ml beer which you can get for less than half that in Aldi!

Booked a late family lunch here yesterday and it was great value. Our waitress, on her first shift, was very friendly. Would recommend

Excellent friendly service. All staff were polite and inviting. We came on a Sunday and had the roast which was excellent, also. Good portion sizes and great value for money. We will certainly be making a return soon.

Does not do food in the Evenings it’s entertainment nights are used for live music So disappointing the menu looked lovely But went to the Wheatchef which was excellent

We came here on a Monday (no food service on a Monday) but Annie was sooooooo very helpful. Let us order some dinner and get it delivered at the pub and eat it there. I had a 13 year old and a 3 year old who were so hungry and she made us feel so welcome and very accommodating. Thank you Annie… xx

popped in for lunch didn't pre book took the chance , food was very good plenty of it onion rings were proper onions not cheaper variety , lasagne was piping hot , starters were very large the only thing I'd say is we weren't asked if we'd like a dessert or coffee after our meal , the atmosphere was good and good music playing

Hi I rang and asked if you could accommodate 19 people for a birthday Sunday lunch and without hesitation you did you also accommodated us for some who wanted of the menu...I would like to say a special thank you to jodie who did all the table decorations for me..who served us all through the day with another member of staff sorry I didn't get he's name but you were both amazing and nothing was to much..The food was great piping hot plenty of it..there was not one complaint everybody enjoyed it..overall experience was just lovely and we will ALL be back again..I have another person to say a big thank you to is the chef josh and kitchen staff he took time to come and meet us and thank us for coming and to ask how our food was well josh it was lovely thank you..well done..x DO I GET THE JOB LOL..

Advertise quality food. Don’t do food. Only on Sundays. Advertises Sunday roast 12-5, Sunday roast finishes at 3!! Current website isn’t up to-date as from previous owners!! There are no other pubs around, why wouldn’t you do food. Place looks run down

To reply to Alison Winch, I would suggest her poor attempt to slate such a great pub, reflects more on her as a person. Had my wife felt "bullied" I certainly wouldn't of remained in the place, for the entire evening. I know for a fact the service given, was fast and polite. Reviews like this bare no resemblance, on a venue, that caters for all, has zero tolerance on trouble, and is very well known as a friendly environment..When the band returns, ( who she clearly loves), one hopes she has a pleasant time elsewhere..

The best pub in the area. Bank Holiday Monday putting on an Easter Bunny visit for in excess of 70 children. Bouncy castle the lot. Always supports local bands. Friendly and welcoming to all, lots of holiday and local patrons, great atmosphere! I would advise you to try it out. You won’t disappointed!

Sadly we were not made to feel very welcome, my wife especially! We specifically wanted to see the band booked, my wife needed to sit as she's got back trouble. The bar stools with backs were all taken so I asked the barman if I could grab a chair, he said it was fine. We put the chair against the wall, careful to ensure we weren't encroaching on the band, blocking access to the mens toilet or bar as well as leaving room for 2 stools that had been reserved. Unfortunately the bar lady (who seemed to be in charge) kept telling my wife to move nearer the bar.....we moved it twice but she kept on, if we had moved it again we pointed out to her that getting to the bar would be a problem but she kept on and on! My wife felt very unwelcomed, bullied even....so she went home without even finishing her drink and quite upset. My wife did tell the lady to her face she'd been made to feel unwelcome. Maybe If the bar lady had actually bothered to walk round she'd have seen that we weren't in the way....there was certainly a better way of dealing with it rather than just relentlessly calling out from the bar and embarrassing us over something so petty, "jobsworth" springs to mind. Myself and our friends did stay for the band but I can assure you none of us will be back or be recommending the pub to anyone!

Staff pleasant, when they finally came to serve us. We were on the point of walking out. Food pretty basic, ok, if you like burgers with everything, but sensibly priced. 10/3/24. Place was heaving. Mothers day. Our booking was for 4pm, and the food was still as fresh as it would have been at 12.00. I was impressed, much better than out 1st visit. Live music as we were leaving at 5.15pm.

Fantastic. Mel ensured my birthday trip to the Plough was extra special. I had roast potatoes and vegetables which was more than sufficient for me. All food was well cooked and hot.

No nonsense proper pub. Had a great Xmas meal. Brilliant decorations and a live band. Made to feel really welcome, they couldn’t do enough for us and we will be going back.

There seems to be so few of these large public houses left and this one looks nothing special from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised once inside as it is well maintained with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The food, usual pub fare, was very good and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a return visit.

Came in for the Sunday roast and it was absolutely delicious. Food was freshly cooked, served quickly and with friendly service. Very generous portion sizes. I would recommend to anyone. We'll be back again soon.

Found this lovely pub whilst staying near by the end of September. The staff are all very welcoming, can't do enough for you. Good homemade food and the roast was so good that we decided to come back for another long weekend near by and enjoy one of the best roasts we've had out in a long time. Will be coming back again

What a great pub! Came yesterday as we were staying locally and what a treat. Originally popping in for 1 but when we found they had Harvey’s that started a very nice afternoon. We ordered food which was very very filling and very reasonably priced for the size portions (would recommend) They even gave the dogs an ice cream which was greatly enjoyed. All in all a very nice afternoon at a friendly well priced pub. Thank you!

We had an amazing Sunday lunch. We were not locals, and had read some posts about not feeling welcome. We felt very welcome indeed. Dinner was delicious and our desserts were excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Lovely place to come and loved the recent event. There was some trouble with a really stupid inconciderate man but the people behind the bar were very quick to sort it out after I had mentioned it. Very professionally run and happy to go back more and more.

Met up with an old friend for drinks and chat. Have to say the service is excellent. Garden at rear is well kept and shuts out road noise making it perfect for conversation. I think if I had any specific improvement,it would be to have a ramp in the garden for mobility users. Definitely will visit again.

We stopped here for something to eat not actually knowing much about the pub! We were not disappointed! We were a group of 4 adults, 3 of which happily had the pie and mash, which, I am told, was delicious. I opted for the burger, which was lovely. Will definitely return when we are next on a little outing from Folkestone 😊

Re. the review left by Kim K in July 2023 and the reply from the owner, to which Kim K is not able to reply to. I was there and can 100% verify this is an unwelcoming pub if you’re not ‘a local’ / your face doesn’t fit. First off rather than the review being strange (as stated by the owner) I find it very odd the owner seems to be able to identify precisely who left the review and the day of the visit, even though there is no date of the visit given. How did you manage to do that? Surely we weren’t the only people who sat in the garden in the month of July? Or could it be we weren’t the usual type you expect in the Plough? Secondly, there were multiple people staring and behaving in a hostile unwelcoming manner - pretty much in keeping with previous reviews stating ‘no longer a friendly local’ and ‘such an unwelcoming pub with locals dominating the pub and look at you as if to say how dare you walk through the door’. The first observation when entering the pub was the woman serving behind the bar two metres directly in front of us raising the back of her hand to cover her mouth and leaning over to the man serving to make a comment, all done while both of them were looking directly at our young family group. We all know that’s what people do when they want to hide what they are saying - why would they need to do that I wonder? I’m more used to a friendly bar greeting customers with a smile rather than feel the need to conceal their mouths to make comments about people entering the premises. The fact this was the least diverse group of people you could possibly imagine in a bar in multi cultural England in the 21st century probably hints at the nature of the comment. Perhaps the owner will be able to assist in deciphering what that comment was by reviewing the CCTV footage again? Now obviously the owner has a reputation for not receiving honest feedback well so I’ll be expecting the familiar denial and refusal to accept there may be a problem welcoming customers who are not ‘a local’ or ‘faces don’t fit’. To any other unsuspecting customers who want to avoid an experience like this, I’d recommend you assess what side of the cast you’d be on in Mississippi Burning before subjecting yourself to this type of experience.

Went for Sunday lunch . Despite the unlucky result with the football . Couldnt fault the food or service. Very helpful staff , we had our dogs with us and couldnt eat with them in the normal place as it was full of football fans . So they allowed us to eat in main resturant area with them . Meals were all well cooked and presented .

The Sunday roast was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly. Had roast lamb and it was great value for money. Its taken myself and my sister to find a decent roast, we've had some bad experiences, but the plough was great and we would go again .

I went to a charity afternoon tea hosted by Mel and her team. I had never been to the Plough before and had a very warm welcome and the food and service was excellent. I would certainly visit again. Thank you for your kind support of MacMillan Mel.

Ended up here by accident as place we had booked had shut there kitchen and The Plough was the nearest place. So glad it happened best family meal we have had in a long time

Amazing pub great food great staff

We visited this pub as a big family group with small children. The atmosphere was very unfriendly and hostile. When we walked in it was clear we weren’t welcome, lots of staring with disgust. I’m not sure why we stayed for drinks. We decided to sit outside and avoid any customers who were clearly put out with us being there. If your face doesn’t fit you aren't welcome!

Lovely Sunday lunch . Food was great excellent service. Lovely decorated restaurant. Been twice now and both times enjoyed it .

We were a big group catered for really well, a pre order went in ahead of time and the kids had time to play and let off steam in the garden before eating Drinks order taken at the table which was really helpful Food was all hot and tasty, no mean feat when serving 20 hot meals We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

This place was so lovely the interior is amazing the exterior is just as good... But the service was absolutely supreme, the food was brilliant and piping hot when it came out to us, the gentleman that served our table was great. This is such an unwelcoming pub! The landlady did not crack a smile all evening, the barman was a little more cheerful. The locals dominate the pub and look at you as if to say 'how dare you walk through the door' and was also quite uncomfortable when you need to use the ladies whilst they are in there sniffing drugs. Will never visit this pub again.

First visit here and the venue hired for a friend's 60th was incredible. It's own bar and then the room opened out onto a heated terrace. This is the perfect venue for a celebration and the staff were amazing and so friendly. The price of the drinks were very good. Can't recommend this place enough we will definitely return here for an event. The food layed on for the celebration was fresh and a good selection

Popped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch - Mum (in a wheelchair), stepdad and myself. We received a warm welcome, staff were friendly and accommodating. Excellent service, good value, overall a very good experience. Food was delicious and servings were a good size. Highly recommend the apple crumble & custard for dessert - it was perfect!

Popped in for Sunday roast but wished I hadn't bothered... Nothing on the plate was fresh... Roast potatoes were "rubbery" pre-cooked and reheated, frozen veg out of a packet and the roast beef was sliced sandwich beef straight from the deli counter. All in all a very disappointing experience. I hope that they up their game because it's a nice pub with friendly staff. It would be a shame if they get a reputation for serving food that lacks effort & quality. Your reply seems very defensive and unapologetic... It's a shame that you guys aren't prepared to address a dissatisfied customer in a professional manner... The plate of food you put in front of us was poor, and returned half eaten. Sometimes things aren't as good as it should be or as good as you'd like it, and I understand that pleasing everyone is hard. IMO Being blinkered and belligerent won't help your business. We all enjoy and revel in complimentary comments cos we all like a pat on the back... but it might be beneficial to you if you remind yourself that how you deal with the negative reviews can be damaging to your reputation. Replying in a middle finger fashion is unlikely to win you a round of applause with anyone that reads it. Good luck with your business, it seemed a nice pub, nice friendly staff too.

Called in here on the off chance to see if we could have a roast, which the lovely staff said that's absolutely fine. We ordered roast beef and when it came out it didn't look too good, roast potatoes were small and anaemic let alone tasted awful, not fresh! The beef was so thin it looked like it was packet beef, all in all not good, my husband and I hardly ate any of it! We didn't even get a check back to see if everything was OK! Waiter collected our plates and asked if all was OK to which I explained it wasn't good at all, he relayed this back to kitchen but never returned to us apart from bringing the bill and kitchen staff standing there laughing! Not even so much as an apology, offered anything else or anything taken off the bill. We paid the bill as we didn't want a scene but will not be returning to eat here ever again. Spoke to a friend in the bar who asked what our food was like, we said not nice and he said that's why i don't eat here it's not good!! Very very disappointing

Popped in to the plough for an impromptu lunch. Had phoned ahead as we had our dog with us, she was as welcome as us adults were. Lovely pub food avaliable, we had Beer battered fish & chips and bacon burger with chips & onion rings, both good honest food cooked freshly for us. Christie served us at the table, she was polite and very attentive answering some questions we had about other services at the local pub. Will definitely be back to try the Sunday roast and Afternoon tea.

This is the closest pub if you are staying at Seaview Holiday Park, just a short stroll away and totally recommended. The pub was busy, the staff were friendly. There was a pool table inside but this was in full use whilst we were there. We enjoyed a pleasant drink whilst sitting outside. We heard great reviews about the food, but unfortunately due to some event food was not available on the only day we could go. We would return to sample their food if back in the area.
