I went today for a lovely lunch with my family, 7 of us in total. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was lovely, fresh and even made me poached eggs on toast (my favourite 😋)knowing it had gone 12pm and came very quickly. Its not run by untrained 15 year olds as another customers has stated which I think is extremely rude but a lovely group of young people. Everyone needs to start somewhere for there 1st job and some people are just miserable customers! We will be returning for more food and tea! 😃☕🫖🍞🥪

Wow, that was quite possibly the worst experience I've had at a cafe. Terrible customer service and unbelievably rude staff. From arriving at the cafe, we didn't feel welcome. The waitress didn't smile once and seemed completely uninterested. Once seated, we ordered tea and scones. Being in a tea house, we thought that the tea would come in a tea pot or at least with the milk being given separately. Instead, we received a couple of mugs of already made tea in well used chipped mugs. We asked if we could instead have the tea in teapots since we saw other customers with tea pots. They took the mugs away but the teapots never arrived. After 10 minutes, we went downstairs to pay and to ask for the tea to be taken off the bill because we never got it. Our waitress never apologised and was extremely rude and very argumentative. She said in future that we should specify exactly what we wanted. We said we probably won't be back and she said "good, I don't think you should come back". I've never experienced customer service like it to be honest. Overall this was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience and has really dampened our day.

Unbelievably bad customer service and mediocre food. We had had such a terrible experience today and will not be returning. I came in here with my family and was very disappointed. My nan ordered a scone which was rock hard and stale. We mentioned it to a staff member and we didn’t get any apology she was very rude and kept giving our table dirty looks. We did get a refund for the scone but how they dealt with everything else wasn’t very professional. We felt uncomfortable. Sandwiches were also ordered which were overly filled with mayo and the bacon was chewy. Overall wasn’t very happy with this experience. Wouldn’t recommend.

Tea and Times. What can I say about this beautiful relaxed and very friendly cafe. Well firstly, The owners really have a fantastic and positive attitude with the customers. We had the full English Breakfast. Oh my God. It was exceptional. Everything tasted fresh with so much attention to detail. The eggs had that bold orange yolk and full of flavour, The sausage was fresh and perfectly seasoned ( not the cheap under cooked bland pork sausages we're all used to in cafes). The toast thick sliced with a generous spread of real butter. Tomatoes, although fried, tasted fresh and ripe. I know baked beans are just baked beans. But maybe these was something better, or was they just enhanced by the flavours around them. We didn't feel rushed, and everybody was so polite. We enjoyed our breakfast so much, we returned later for afternoon tea with fresh scones, jam and clotted cream. May I add the jam and clotted cream came in jars very generous portions. We would definitely visit again and thought you can not put a price on this sort of quality dining. Thank you very much!

Tea & Times seemed like the ideal place for a traditional English cuppa; this was definitely not the case! After a long wait, our two MUGS of tea were unceremoniously plonked down on our table (milk already added), as the waitress was passing to deliver food to another table. We couldn’t help but notice the mugs were dirty - dried tea stains around the handles rims etc. - disgusting, especially in times of COVID! This was our signal to leave! Upon telling a member of staff that this was totally unacceptable and unhygienic, she delicately pointed out that it was just that the tea had dribbled down the side of the mugs……………really? We’ve been around long enough to recognise a filthy dirty mug when we see one! We left tout de suite and found a much more hygienic establishment around the corner. AVOID!

First time we have visited. The place was reasonably busy and due to the restricted spacing in place due to Covid several persons had to be turned away, although staff would ring them if and when a space became available. The positives on this visit were. We were shown to a clean table. Our order was quickly taken by a very polite server and she was able to provide us some advice on the selection of cakes. The ginger cake was fantastic, just the right spicy kick of ginger. The coffee was delivered in a short amount of time. The quality of the coffee was also excellent. The negatives. Having placed the order we were served our coffee but there was no sign of the cake. In the end having waited 15/20 minutes we had to ask about the cake, which was then brought over. The staff appeared very disorganised with one member of staff seeming to be trying to show several what needed doing. The staff obviously needed extra training and organising. It was a shame because this let the visit down. With the quality of cake and coffee this could be an excellent place to visit.

Where to start?!We visited on the last Friday of half term. Whitstable was fairly busy but nothing like it would be during the warmer months. Our family of 4 were greeted with indifference. We asked if a table of 4 was available and were told to wait whilst they checked. Eventually, we were told that there were 4 stools available at a makeshift 'breakfast bar' upstairs. We were given a menu which was extremely limited for lunch - sandwiches, baked potatoes and the odd cake. We asked whether we could be moved to a table with proper chairs and were told that this would be possible once space became available. We placed our order. We had to wait nearly 45 minutes for our sandwiches to be delivered. The venue wasn't full and we heard a number of tables complaining about the delay. The sandwiches when they eventually arrived were OK. No garnish, no crisps etc. Literally just sandwiches. To be fair on the venue, the lunch did exactly what it said on the tin...but really?!What was really disappointing was the genuinely poor service. With numerous people leaving, others were offered a table and we were not moved as we were initially told we would be. On complaining, we were told that a table in the window was being cleared...only to be told a few minutes later that it had been reserved for someone else. Not exactly true. The waitresses friends had just walked in speculatively and they were given priority along with a different choice of food.We were then offered 2 tables of 2 but told that due to the COVID19 rules, we would not be able to move between tables - one of which had our children on it! When we paid, we received no acknowledgment - not even a smile.Honestly, as a seasoned traveller, I rarely feel the need to complain. This experience though made me wonder why this company is in the hospitality business. If you can't get staff that will engage in common decency with your customers and are unable to make basic food in under 30 mins or so, perhaps you should be doing something else. Very, very, disappointing.I should mention the venue. Quaint, reasonably clean and with potential. But without the (basic) service, it's not going to work. The recent reviews for Tea & Times speak for themselves. A message to the owners - sort it out!

Just had coffees here but have to mention the cakes as they had a huge choice and other patrons were clearly enjoying them. Coffee was excellent. One sour note was the toilet - there was just the 1 and it was tiny with access very awkward as the door went right up against the toilet (porcelain) itself. That should really be addressed as it lets the place down. On the plus side, the decor and ambience were excellent.

Tea and Times is a nice little cafe but not spectacular. I ordered a cup of tea which was brought upstairs to where we sat, the tea is a little overpriced for what you get - one cup with milk already added. A pot of tea with a separate jug of milk would be better so you can make it to how you prefer. The service could be slightly better, we ordered when we first went in rather than being able to sit down first, with the girl behind the counter telling us “I think there might be a seat upstairs” (it was full downstairs) which meant we would have been a bit stuck if there was no seating available upstairs. I think table service might work a little better or at least give you the chance to find a seat first before ordering. All in all a nice little cafe but not really special.

Just called in for a bite to eat at lunch time and as it was busy had high hope for our choice. We couldn't find a table initially but the staff wanted to take our order first before sitting down......didn't like the idea of that!!It was suggested we took the table in the window......two chairs and me perched on a window ledge!!We only ordered a mozzarella and tomato panini, a cold drink and two earl grey teas.....and was more expensive than Starbucks!! The two teas came in one pot which is obviously used for tea fod one!!! But its OK there is two teabags in it.....this resulted in an over brewed cup of tea that was far too dark for earl grey. So my wife could have two small cups I declined mine.......not that i would have enjoyed it.Then we waited......and waited......and waited for the panini!! When it came it was barely warm......and as the cheese was so thick in place it was cold and definitely not melted. This was only in one half.....as the other half was virtually empty. Very disappointing!!I thought Starbucks service was slow.....its excruciating here and more expensive. I for one will be avoiding this place.

We have visited this place on a number of occasions when in the Whitstable area but unlikely to again. There are signs stating that diners should check with the staff if they have allergies. My wife is allergic to palm oil and rapeseed oil, so asked about the ingredients of the bread sold in this cafe. We were made to feel really uncomfortable for asking and the answer given was "I don't know off the top of my head". When we suggested to the staff that they could maybe call the bakery, they did so with great reluctance and still failed to answer our question. This should be information that the establishment should know without having to call anybody. When we mentioned we had eaten there before with no ill effects they felt that we *should be okay". A really stupid comment as the bakery may well have changed their recipe since our previous visit and had my wife eaten the bread she may have become ill. We managed to order something avoiding the bread which may have been perfectly fine but we could not take the risk. Food was okay and the cafe has a quite pleasant decor, but the prices were more akin to central London than Whitstable. I have little doubt that were we to visit again the staff would still not know the ingredients of their bread. This information should be readily available as a matter of course.

I tried to order a sandwich and a fry up but was told they weren't doing fry ups that day. The man waiting in line behind me heard this and said loudly you're not doing fry ups?The owner then said they could do it for him because he was a regular. We had a pleasant mid-afternoon visit, and were greeted by friendly staff and found seating upstairs with a street view. The food was ok but just average and unimaginative (both in terms of choice and presentation). The ground floor blackboard menu was the only menu, and we had to revisit it twice to order as it was not drawn to our attention before finding our seats upstairs. With so many other choice of eateries in town we’re not likely to revisit.

We went there to get out of the cold of Whitstable and we were not disappointed. I had a BLT and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Lovely bread, succulent bacon and plenty of mayo.

Good selection, lovely atmosphere. We had quite a long wait considering it was for sandwiches, bread was fresh as was the locally sourced mackerel.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and was blown away by how good my crab sandwich was - probably the best I've ever eaten. Such a nice spot and the staff were very welcoming.

Come here regularly for work meetings and small networking breakfasts. Staff are always great and the food and coffee are fabulous. Being a locally run cafe it has a real welcome rather than a corporate manufactured one. I am sure you will enjoy your visit.

We had a lovely lunch here and our daughter was able to find something to eat which was a relief as she was trying to eat lactose free . We all tasted different teas and throughly enjoyed them as well . The baby was welcomed although we had to carry the buggy upstairs but that was a small price to pay for such a lovely lunch . We bought a piece of chocolate cake to take away and I keep badgering my husband to take me back for another pice as it was to die for .

The sandwiches here are truly wonderful, simple, fresh and of the highest quality. Fresh cakes are prepared every day and it is very friendly. The only frustration I have and this was the same as when I used to visit each week many years ago is the fact that space is limited and they seem quite happy for someone to come in, take up an entire table and cuddle a single coffee whilst they read for well over an hour whilst others leave because they can’t sit down as I witnessed today. This can’t be good for business but they are doing something right as I visited over 20 years ago !! In summary great simple food but probably not fulfilling its potential but there again, in this world this is part of the charm ! Well worth a visit to perhaps get a picnic to take on the beach.

Tea and Times is a friendly, welcoming cafe in the heart of Whitstable. We have visited many times and have never been let down. They do a great English breakfast cooked to perfection everytime, good tea and coffee, and their carrot and pineapple cake is lovely. This place is a must for us every time we visit the town.

With everywhere else full, I ventured in here. A decent bar/cafe, nice scone and none coffee in a mug. Plenty of seating upstairs. Nothing special particularly but fine for a drink. Shabby chic decor. Toilets. Wifi. Friendly staff. Would return.

Lovely clean tea rooms, soft music, polite staff and the best Victoria sponge ever. Not a bad price, £5 for tea and cake and they had decaff and skimmed milk. Excellent.

There is a laid-back, welcoming feel about this café, that sense that everybody can pull up a seat and be treated with courtesy and respect. And even if you don't come back for a few days, or weeks, they remember your order and are unfailingly hospitable.

Came in here for lunch, specifically for the jacket potatoes, due to two of the party being gluten intolerant. The jacket potatoes were delicious and plentiful! The choice of fillings were vast! The coffees were also really nice! Definitely worth it.

Tea and Times is one of the oldest and best cafe in Whitstable. I get so sick of the DFLs (down from London) complaining about places like this. They ruin it for the locals as the DFLs are so rude and moany. Just go back to London. They’re always in rush and moan about slow service when they come to Whitstable. These are family run businesses! People moan about prices but Tea and Times produce is fresh, if you want cheap food go to spoons, I also love it there as I know I’m getting what I pay for. People moan about the prices of the Sandwiches but you’d be willing to pay extortionate prices for a tasteless starter in prezzo or any of these chain restaurants, willing to pay £6 for a piece of garlic bread or plate of mushrooms? So I recommend Tea and Times as it’s absolutely lovely in there, lovely family who run it and lovely food. You Londoners just need to realise this isn’t LONDON and stop annoying us locals.

Nice place but shame we weren’t allowed to sit there. As soon as we got in the guy said takeaway only. He was incredibly rude and told us it’s takeaway only many times whilst ordering as my kids sat down waiting for our drinks. He also told us the toilet was out of order which looking at other reviews, seems to be the case all the time! The drinks were ok, the lobster tails were not bad but service very poor. Wouldn’t recommend.

Nice for a beer, but the food wasn’t great at all … the pizza in particular was probably the worst “restaurant“ pizza I ever had, with (what tasted like) a shop bought crust, totally devoid of any seasoning, and a somewhat stale aftertaste. Have a drink and save your appetite for somewhere else!

Excellent food and wonderful service from Gracie, our waitress. Ernie our dog loved her, and was a great atmosphere. Superb pub.

A cosy place to have a drink with friends. They even accepted my little dog. So refreshing
