Glad we took the bull by the horns and had lunch once more at The Clocktower. They are set up for the new normal, tables spaced out and divided by the most upmarket screens I've seen. Because of the tasteful ambience the atmosphere was not in the slightest tense. Each table was marked as cleaned by a small card in the centre, questionnaire's on the table, also asking for personal contact details. Menu was underneath the glass topped table so no handling. The staff were professional and pleasant, serving cutlery and condiments prior to the food. On the subject of food everything was tasty, hot and well presented. We had starters, mains, shared a dessert, followed with tea and coffee. Total bill was £21.00 as it was part. Of the Government Scheme, nevertheless we have booked for next week after the offer has closed. By the way you have to reserve a table. Go on treat yourself life's too short

I took my friend to The Clock Tower for a birthday treat ... and she loved it! Beautiful presentation ... in a beautiful dining room. Well done to whoever planned the decor. The dining room is fairly small which is nice but does mean that booking is recommended. The tea itself was really good ... more sandwiches than cakes which I prefer, and the cakes were light enough to eat them all! The food being served at other tables looked appetising too so another visit is definitely on the cards. Highly recommended ... fab afternoon tea at a very reasonable price. An affordable treat!

Disappointing lunch! My friend had finished hers before mine was even served....apologies were offered... but I think they forgotten to be honest! Overpriced hot meals, small portions and mediocre quality. It is, however, clean. Ignored at the till when paying (as having a chat amongst themselves) and absolutely no pleasantries or customer service shown. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and won’t be returning.

First visit impressed by the cleanliness quality of furniture & cutlery . All staff pleasant & attentive our party was well pleased with the selection of food and enjoyed our meals. I had the large fish & chips with mushy peas i would have preferred the chips to be crisper they were a little on the soft side . I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be sure they will enjoy their meal .

The Clocktower Restaurant is certainly worth a visit, our town hall is one of the most impressive in the country. The refurbishment is very impressive this was our first impromptu visit since upgrade. It is advisable to book a table, the other diners were repeat bookings from what I gather, we were told Thursday morning breakfast is notoriously busy with the Veterens. We had soup to start vegetable with cream dressing equally as good as Rochdale's top eatery, followed by falafel salad on brown bread and tasty ham salad on brown. All deliciously fresh ingredients, my only criticism there was too much bread for me, I had to leave some. We had two soft drinks and the bill was eighteen pounds, which considering the ambiance of the venue and the efficient waiter and waitress service was money well spent. Next time we will probably have a cooked meal as everything looked good. Soon there may be more interesting shopping in the new development and now we have reason to have brunch or lunch here. It is worth a visit that's all I can recommend if you try and are not happy put it down to experience.

We booked afternoon tea it was very disappointing for the cost of £12.50 each we had four small quarters of bread sandwiches including egg cheese salmon and chicken very sparse filling then scones which already had a thin spread of jam and clotted cream. We all left most of that as the scones were more like rock cakes and very dry. The finale was three each of minute Little cakes just a mouthful We were served a pot of tea each but offered no refill The surroundings were lovely with nice tables and chairs and beautiful chandeliers unfortunately I have to say the food did not match the establishment Very disappointing would not revisit!!!

Our first experience dining here for all of us. The food was exceptional - five of us had the Seabass Special with crushed new potatoes and fennel, and one had the fish & chips. The service was excellent with very smart, friendly staff. The restaurant was full, and no wonder! The atmosphere was bustling, with superb decor and lovely tableware. We all finished with the homemade Gin & Tonic cake (which was yummy!) with vanilla bean ice cream and a filter coffee... Thank you again, we will definitely be returning.

Slow service, so slow we had to cut our tour short. We had a party of16, all pre ordered meals but still had a long wait even for teas and coffees. Meals were mixed, some were really good, the chicken and chorizo pasta bake was really good. Some not so good. Same with the desserts. The slow service was the issue. The staff were really polite and apologetic. Will give it a 2nd chance after the renovations

Food described on the menu doesn't match the actual dish when you get it. When I complained they brought some extra vegetables after changing my main dish....very confusing. The second dish they brought was worse and i refused to pay for it. My starter was served on a plate of wilted lettuce that put me off eating it. They didn't have the dessert I wanted despite it being on the set menu. It was a lovely place to dine, comfortable, pleasant surroundings, the service was good.....but the food was awful, however my friends thought it was ok but not anything special.

Fabulous surroundings. Locals will say that the leader if the Germans in WW2 had eyed Rochdale Town Hall as a preferred location for their Northern HQ. If you take a tour around this majestic building you can start to imagine why. For all the bad press the town receives, this is a fine example of something it can be truly proud of. Food was very nice, great decor. However the bistros customer service let it down badly: On booking we were asked to pay £10 deposit per guest ( on a Saturday afternoon in October). We asked what was on the deserts list and was told to go up and take a photo of it to read at the table! When ordering deserts we were asked to order quickly as we had a time limit of 2 hours!! One of our party cancelled due to Ill health Leaving 7 paying ladies. We were not refunded the deposit. One more negative- the parking spaces are far too narrow resulting in a dinted door when leaving. Sorry but won’t be returning any time soon, far too many other eateries close by that offer excellent customer service.
