Friendly staff, good fish, but the chips were soggy / oily and tasteless (cooked to order) Chip portion size not commensurate with price either. I understand fish being pricey, but potatoes? Not the greatest overall, room for improvement.

Terrible chips. My son (13) went with his sister to order a large chips to supplement our meal cooked in our motor home. He came back with the most pathetic 'large' portion I have ever seen. My only thought is they saw a child and decided not to give him what he paid for. The chips themselves were disgusting. Soggy and tasteless. I would never come here again if this is how they treat customers. Find another chippy.

The worst fish & chips we’ve ever had. Chips were soggy & disgusting, my husband cod was so small, more batter than fish. Not sure how they can serve food like this

I live between Whitby and Redcar so have plenty of good Fish and Chip shops nearby. It’s no exaggeration to say Trawlers matches them all and I’m tempted to say is better than my favourites back home. The fish was well cooked, great batter, chips just crispy - perfect. Great value for money too. Proper old school chippy!

I’ve never ordered fried fish before as it reminds me of the awful soggy stuff we used to get at school (a memory which has lasted decades!). But today I ordered cod & chips and it was GORGEOUS. Tender, moist fish with thin, crispy batter and the BEST chips. I’m definitely a convert! Thanks Simon & Team 🥰🙏

1st visit here but not great. A tenner for 2 x steak and kidney pie with chips. Chips were awful. Appeared re heated, not great portions. Quick service but very very average at best

Very friendly, helpful staff, in this very clean fish and chip takeaway. Our F&Chips were freshly fried and just perfect, also very filling!

We were sat in the pub beer garden opposite and noticed they didn't mind you bringing the fish and chips across. Lovely washed down with a pint.

The other two excellent chippies in the area were closed. I was apprehensive & then was told that a couple we know use it & are quite happy. SO although lower priced than the others I wish we hadn't. The batter was soft, oily, undercooked and sticking to the paper, chips undercooked & many not properly peeled. Only a re heat in a hot oven made them just acceptable. I will return to the others asap. As a local I will never be using this chippy again. Clearly can't make batter & has the temperature too low.

We ordered fish/ scampi and chips for a family gathering of 7. We had read the bad reviews, but as our first choice of “chippy” was shut, we took a chance and ordered from Trawlers. What a mistake! The scampi was ok, but the cod was oily and greasy as were the chips. Although the chips were cooked, they were soft, not at all crunchy and dry as good chips should be. We shan’t be going back there again, and I would certainly not recommend this chip shop. They do not accept credit cards either.

Tonight we finally ordered the much-anticipated Skate Wing. It was enormous and delicious (according to Mr S!). Lovely freshly cooked chips and lots of scampi for me. Thanks Simon & team. Such a great little place to have around the corner. 👍😊

Don't go there!!!! . Disappointed. Fish and chips was greasy. No salt. My fish was sweaming in horrible taste of old oli. I will Never go back there again. Don't waste your money.

This place used to be awful but they've got their act together recently and it's usually very good. But, today, a Thursday at 7.30pm, they had run out of chips. Nothing more to add to that really except that it doesn't even justify one star

I came across Trawlers when camping in Arundel and was blown away by the quality of their fish and chips. I now make a special trip to go every week!! The chunky, fresh potato chips are cooked to perfection and the fish so fresh and cripsy. Portion size is excellent and the service always spot on. Do try them!

I bought 3 supposedly large portions of chips for £2.85 each, I can tell you that for almost £9 all 3 combined would be smaller than a single large chips from a much better shop in Wick Littlehampton. Shocking rip off and won't use them...
