Went for breakfast as we were staying in the travelodge which is practically next door... We googled the opening times and seen that it was open at 10am but it was actually open from 9am. It would be a good idea to have the opening times on the window to save any confusion. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and at £4.95 I was expecting a vegetarian sausage at least but I got 1 egg, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast. My partner ordered the medium sized breakfast and he was looking forward to the fried bread...but when it arrived it was buried underneath tomatoes so it was totally soggy...both breakfasts looked like everything had just been thrown on the plate and different juices were swimming into each other which I don't like. Both breakfasts tasted ok but I think presentation needs to be looked at. The lady serving was friendly.

Wonderful cafe towards the southern end of Lord Street and almost next door to the Travelodge. Proper full english breakfast with Black Pudding (hooray!) and even fried bread (double hooray!!) Really nice bacon ans sausage too. Unpretentious and great value, th is is highly recommended. Just a cuple of points to note: there are no customer toilets and payment is cash only (there are loos and an ATM round the corner at Morrisons)

Visited here for breakfast. We both ordered small breakfasts and waited 40 minutes for our food. It really wasn’t worth the wait. The eggs were rock hard and the food was just thrown on to a small plate. Very disappointing. The only redeeming factor was the friendly young waitress.

The absolute worst breakfast certainly in Southport and possibly the whole of the UK. They claim its cooked to order if that's correct why was every breakfast that came out had burnt sausages. The egg yolks where absolutely solid, the beans has been overcooked 40 minute wait for a pile of s....!

Stopped by Clevelands as we were in need of cake. Sadly, all they had were packaged, shop-bought cakes so we opted for cherry pie instead. Although the menu mentioned three different pies (apple, cherry & blackberry or blackcurrant?) the board in the cafe only mentioned apple & cherry. On ordering, we were informed that only cherry was available. This might be due to the fact it was almost closing time. We had two portions of cherry pie, one with custard & one with ice cream. The pies were heated up as requested. Pastry was a bit soft rather than crisp but they weren't bad. The price increase with ice cream or custard is about third more compared to having the pies on their own so that did seem a bit steep compared to other greasy spoons we have been in. Overall, we are glad we had our sweet treat. Staff in the cafe were really friendly & welcoming. When we passed in the morning, it seemed very popular with diners. Worth checking out when you're in Southport.

This was my second visit this summer to the Cleveland Cafe on Lord Street, Southport. Again we had a great lunch, their toasties are great and their chips are the best I have had in any cafe for a long time. We are going back tomorrow for lunch again. This is a record for us as we have given up on so many cafes lately. The food is fresh, well cooked and there is a good variety on the menu. Also they have decaf tea and coffee!!!

Excellent traditional cafe - been coming here at least weekly for 7mths. Thanks Paul, Jeanne, Sian & crew. Fresh home-cooked food, consistent good quality. Great salads too. They will do a "keto" breakfast if you ask for it. Proper mugs of tea - Yorkshire teabags & brewed in teapot. Clean & high standards. Gets busy so be patient as food fresh & quality. Friendly staff - very respectful of the elderly & those with disabilities. Kudos to Paul (chef / owner) - works 6 days a week, often starting at 7am or earlier until 4-5pm.

Clean place, inside and outside seating, as it was warm and we had a dog with us we sat outside. It was very busy and all the tables outside were full, inside was also very busy. Excellent food, great service, they even gave us fresh water in the outside dog bowl as our fussy dog only likes water fresh from the tap!!! Definitely going to visit again as I live in Southport

Whilst staying at the nearby Travelodge it was tempting to give it a whirl.. I only ordered the medium English breakfast, it wasn't dear so i didn't expect much. What i got was what ordered, but it was sadly only on a side plate (presumably to make it look more), resulting in everything on top of each other. I'm no snob, but not for me i'm afraid. Other than that it was clean and the staff were pleasant.

Quite cold inside. Food average. As the menu is on the wall it's really hard to work out what the cost is but it was not expensive. Our food was ready before we had even made our way back to the table. Two cooked breakfasts and two cups of coffee I could not have done better myself, at a price similar to the one round the corner.I would have preferred to have spent my cash in a local cafe than in a large chain...if only we had found it earlier.

The standard of service and food is excellent, and I have always found the staff very friendly on arrival. Always worth a visit and a meal.I have visited the cafe on many occasions, and it was due to the very friendly reception and good quality meals, that persuaded me to choose Clevelands as the ideal location for the Hub. Had the "All day breakfast" this morning. Ordered it and to be fair it came cooked exactly as we ordered it.Hard yoke and well done bacon, so really good in that respect. Just a few of areas of improvement are needed to make this place really great:1. The cafe itself was too cold.2. Sharpen your knives, they are too blunt.3. Replace your sauces, the ones you use are not good especially when in plain plastic bottles. All of us patrons know when we see them bottle that the sauce inside is cheap. We'd rather see branded bottles available as you know what you're getting then. Thanks

At the southern end of Lord Street, and almost next door to the Travelodge, the Cleveland does not pretend to be anything but a good traditional cafe.Long established and very popular with locals, you can expect a warm welcome from the friendly owners.Choose from the huge menu displayed on the blackboards - almost anything from a scone or cake, to a full home cooked meal, all at very reasonable and affordable prices. If there is any criticism, it is that there is so much to choose from that it is difficult to make a decision. You can even opt to have your tea or coffee in a cup or a mug.Tables are a little close together, and at busy times could be a little uncomfortable; although in the more clement weather.it is possible to sit at one of the outdoor tables, under the glass canopy, on the wide uncontested pavement. For those interested in local history, the walls inside the cafe are hung with fantastic photographs of old Southport.

Called by early in the morning for breakfast. One person was taking the money and a second cooking. The venue was clean enough although a number of tables had uncleared crockery. The procedure is to grab a table , decide what you want then go to the back of the shop to order your food. You also pay at the time of ordering. You help yourselvesto cutlery- best described as assorted. Having ordered I thought we waited a long time for our food. The front door was open and the smoke from someone sitting outside drifted into the cafe. We ordered coffee with the breakfast and this arrived 1st - a decent size mug and very tasty. When the food arrived, it was piping hot and clearly freshly cooked. The baked beans were a little bland and mushy for me. However, the black pudding, fried egg, sausages, bacon and tomatoes were very good. Note that there is no customer toilet. Parents with prams might struggle to fit in- there is seating outside though. No one checked that our order was ok. I have rated on our whole experience and would have upgraded to good if my negative perceptions had not been there. I noticed an extra staff member starting as we left who started by clearing the tables and also bringing food out.

We really enjoyed the food, was very reasonably priced and mostly home made. Server and cook were very warm and friendly and chatted to us for a while. Good location and relaxed atmosphere inside. I am going again today I enjoyed it so much !

Once again, the staff of Clouds did us proud. We (Southport Friendship group and Crosby Writers) took a combined party of 47 to our Christmas lunch, and along with other groups, they managed around 70. Food was well served and piping hot, and nothing was too much trouble for those serving. If your son or daughter was working there today, you should be very proud of them. The same goes for Paula, and those working in the back. Thank you all for making our day, special.

Authentic lovely food all the time! My go to place just the best never getting anywhere better! You should open in the city centre!!!

Was getting hungry in Southport so went into Waterfield's for a snack. Tried the Lancashire pasty which was ok. Pastry was a bit thick and soft and filling was a bit salty. A bit pricey at close to £2!
