The pumpkin picking was really good, and even in bad weather, it was still great fun, and if I was only reviewing that, I would give 5 star 🌟 The reason for 2 stars was for the service in the cafe, staff not very helpful and quite rude. Sandwich was actually very nice, and the coffee was pretty good, but when the service is lacking, it ruins it. It's such a shame as I have been for a few events, and I had great experiences.

Service extremely slow, it’s like you are an inconvenience to them by visiting. Food is good, service is that bad it outweighs the food. Shame as we used to come a lot, won’t be going again

Attended the Wirral Classic Car Show over the weekend and was very impressed at the venue. They have plenty of space with hug fields, the cafe and farm shop is lovely and when the show was on they had additional food stands and vans that sold some amazing things.

Had a nice breakfast at the cafe and the service was quite good and reasonably friendly. I would give it a four star rating. Unfortunately we had the experience of ordering cones of ice cream from the counter the previous day and to put it mildly the staff did not like the idea and to be honest were quite rude. If it is too much trouble for your staff it may be a good idea to remove the counter all together. Not impressed at all….

Walked to this local farm cafe recently with my daughter and her young baby and my husband met us there. Admittedly we arrived about 2.55 just before the kitchen stopped serving food but probably would have just managed to order if the staff had taken our order immediately as meals were still being brought out of the kitchen on our arrival. Instead, after waiting 10 minutes for someone to provide us with menus I had to go and ask for them. The person who I spoke to thrust a menu at me and informed me rather rudely that the kitchen was closed so only cakes coffee etc available. I was a bit annoyed because we were actually there before 3pm but accepted the situation. However what I didn’t appreciate or expect was the ongoing rude/unacceptable behaviour from the same waitress who ended up taking our order 20 minutes later My daughter is dairy free and when she asked about the cakes was told cherry Bakewell was her only choice (Basically like it or lump it ) My daughter asked could she just check with someone if any of the other cakes were suitable and she refused. I actually had to go to the counter and discuss ingredients with other staff and yes there was one another option. After waiting a good half hour our cakes etc arrived . Basically it was thrust on the table. As if this appalling service and behaviour from the waitress wasn’t bad enough the cakes were truly awful, dried up and tasteless. To summarise an awful experience caused mostly by the attitude by the person who served us and overpriced awful cakes and they definitely need to be aware of people with differing dietary requirements and cater accordingly. I will definitely avoid this cafe in future and stick with the excellent customer service and great food at the local Coffee Shop in Spital precinct instead

We called in at the restaurant after we had spent the morning pumpkin picking at the farm, which was excellent. We hadn’t reserved a table, but on arrival the staff were excellent and were able to sort a table out for us. Staff were swift on ordering drinks and our meals. And they came promptly. The foods was fantastic. We had soup the day, chicken and bacon sandwich and a kids fish bites. Highly recommend eating here. A+ customer service and quality of food

Went with friends for breakfast on Sunday 10th September, was planning on sending email in rather than trip advisor but can not see anywhere to send feedback to, so here it is. Busy Sunday brunch so waited a while which is fine as was busy so expect that. Food when we got it was lovely and we had a lovely time. Only issue I had was with the waitress Amy who when brought my breakfast later than others as the toast was brown and I’d asked for white. Which was still not a problem worked in hospitality my whole life so I’m pretty chilled about things going wrong, a very laidback customer. So when I asked about your extra toasted I’d ordered and paid for - the response was rude and attitude appalling. I was told I brought it earlier and you never said was yours. (This the incorrect breakfast) so rather than being argumentative with her I said, if she can please just go to the kitchen to get it as I’ve ordered it that would be great, she then huffed and rolled her eyes at me and walked away with out a word. Never have I ever felt so annoyed by someone who blatantly didn’t care less and has no level of customer service. This is how complaints come out of nowhere when you have team members that have no clue how to deal with customers or care to look after your customers. I did eventually pin down and find Gaynor the manager to relay my thoughts and said I would email in ( no email I can find) She was lovely and apologised. I am not and was not after anything but if you have someone that works in your team that feels like they can behave how they like to customers and walk around like they feel untouchable then this is not right, This person would either have to correct their behaviour immediately or they would no longer be working for me as they represent the business. First visit and I may return as I don’t want to hold the rest of the team to the same standard as this girl. You may not mind if I return or not but for me in our business, it’s extremely important that every customer leaves happy and that’s our priority. You can be busy, errors can happen but you can choose how you interact and treat a paying customer with respect not contempt, especially when it was certainly not warranted. Shame…

As a respected farm shop on the Wirral, I expected the products in the shop to be ethically sourced. A proportion of the eggs for sale are from Raby Farm where the hens are free range, however, the majority of eggs for sale in the shop are from caged hens . I spoke to the duty manageress and her justification for this was that the owner has been to see the hens. I find it absolutely disgraceful that the owner approves of birds, who are flock animals, being kept in solitary confinement, with no space or facility to allow normal animal behaviours. When some supermarkets have already stopped selling eggs from caged (tortured) hens, it is unbelievable tht the owner of Claremont Farm approves of this method of farming. There are more ethical wasys to improve your profit margin! We have rescue hens, and I know the psycological damage it does to these animals. I won't be going to Claremont Farm again.

What’s happened to the staff at Claremont farm? Been coming here for years and one of my favourite spots on the Wirral not only for the food but for the service and atmosphere. However the last two occasions have been disappointing and a little chaotic. I usually avoid here at weekends as I’m aware that it gets busier and there can be a wait for a table , I much prefer the week days as bit more calmer and relaxing. However , we had friends visiting and we wanted to show them one of our favourite places to eat. When we arrived we queued for 15 minutes which I had anticipated , I was ok with this , once we sat down it took us 25 minutes of waiting before we had to get the attention of a waitress to order some drinks , she seemed annoyed at this! My partner has an accent as he is from Spain and when he ordered his drink she snapped at him “what??” …so rude. In fact her manner with all the guests was abrupt , and once she got to me and I spoke with a local accent she seemed to change her approach. Take that as you wish. It took another 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, in the meantime we went to get some water , there was none left, and when our drinks did arrive my glass was hot and the apple juice that came in a bottle was room temperature, so I waited 45 minutes for a warm apple juice! We ordered food , which took quicker to come then the drinks and was very nice. The kitchen staff do a great job and I’m always happy with the food , no matter if it’s busy they always produce tasty dishes. The front of house is what is letting this establishment down. Granted it was busy (I’ve been when it’s been busier) , but explain that and be apologetic, don’t ignore the customers and then seem annoyed that they need to call you to get some service. I really hope that the management read my review and others reviews about the customer service and make changes.

Came today for a late breakfast, queued up for 15 minutes to get in, the lady who seated us was rather rude. Said we couldn’t have breakfast as it’s past 11:30 - even though we had been stood outside waiting to come in. Plonked the menus on the table. Came for a drinks order about 10 mins later, said we couldn’t order food til gone 12. Had to ask for our order to be taken. The waitress was rather rude and made me feel uncomfortable, I asked if the salads (two for £7) were two separate salads or all in one bowl. Her response was abrupt and said “no it’s not two, it’s in the same bowl but different half’s of the bowl” maybe write the menu better then?? I asked for no chickpeas in my salad…. “It comes mixed already and he won’t stand there picking them out” wow. Asked for hot water to make babies bottle, she scowled and said “well you can only have it in a cup, we’ve got nothing else” food eventually came.. salad was awful, very soggy, no flavour, tomatoes were brown. No one checked on us to see if it was ok. Very annoyed having to pay £41 for a rubbish experience

Hadn’t been for a while so decided to go with some friends. First the lady who seated me was extremely rude, uninterested and not welcoming at all. I only had 2 slices of toast and an apple juice which cost £7.50! I completely understand inflation etc but feel that price was ridiculous for 2 pieces of toast and an apple juice. Probably won’t return in a hurry such a shame as it is a lovely place but can’t justify those prices.

First time I have been to this cafe and farm shop and what a lovely experience. I loved the menu choices, after some deliberation I chose the mackerel pate which was a nice generous portion and beautifully presented. The friends with me all enjoyed their food too. Staff were very friendly and I didn't feel we waited too long despite it being half term and busy. There seems to be a few negative reviews on here but possibly people are less likely to review when their experiences are positive so maybe it's an unfair reflection overall? I can only speak as I find. The staff that served us today were all lovely and helpful and we left saying we'd definitely return

We have visited the farm coffee shop regularly and over the years it gets worse and worse. So much so I had to write this review in the hope that management take this on board. On arrival the reception wasn’t friendly to say the least, whereby the waiter was puffing his cheeks trying to find us a table. Secondly we were just left for 15 mins without anyone taking our order. Staff where congregating around the till talking while others cleared up. We ended up going up to the till and ordering ourselves. Looking around the staff don’t look interested and approachable. What’s happed to this great little place? As a business owner myself; I’d be shocked if this is how my staff presented themselves and the business was being ran day to day. I really hope this feedback gets taken board as I’d hate to see this once amazing little place fall further behind.

It was not enough to stop me going again. My daughter is gluten free. The savoury selection was excellent but only one choice for cake. SO easy to make gluten free cake and often better!

Stopped in this morning, for a coffee but ended up eating. Glad we did. Really good organisation in terms of one way system and the usual way of queueing up and ordering at the counter had been replaced by table service - nice move. Lots of staff, had the same waiter start to finish which was good. Quick service and great food. Would recommend.

Waited 10mins to be offered a table, despite there being many free. Took another 10 mins for someone to take a drinks order which took ages to arrive. The food was fantastic.

This was the first time that I had been here for lunch having been for many afternoon coffees in the past. It was incredibly busy but we had reserved a table. On this occasion we went upstairs for our meal. There is a vast amount of choice on the menu -something for everyone's appetite and pocket. You do go and order at the counter. I chose the cheese and pickle sandwich which came on a bloomer with some crisps and some coleslaw. It was freshly made and served on a wooden platter and was very tasty. The service was quick and the staff were all friendly and efficient. Although plenty of car parking, it was difficult to find a space due to the popularity at lunchtime. A very good experience.

Very bizzy place. We had to was a good 5 mins for a table to become free. We both didn't like their Soup of the Say so we both had sandwiches.Very fresh. Good produce. Displayed very well on a wooden platter with salad crisps and Cole slaw.

8 people arrived at 10am having reserved a table and pre ordered all the breakfasts . The group included 2 young children. The cafe was freezing as the heating was off and despite attempts by the owner the radiator didn't not come on and the heater we were promised did not materialise . We were not served our food until 11am but we did see people who arrived after us and who had not pre ordered being served ahead of us . We were offered complimentary drinks . The breakfast when it arrived was ordinary and not up to the usual standard .A disappointing experience

The food here is always lovely and always well presented, the portions sizes are great too! Always impressed by the service and food. The Ploughman's lunch is so reasonably priced for how much you get and the homemade chips are fab.

Been twice this month for lunch. Undoubtedly the food is good but quite expensive. Obviously all homemade and the cakes are all very tempting. I think £6 for a bowl of soup is pricey although it was delicious.

I have visited a few times when less busy, this was a Sunday morning & chaotic. We had our dog with us and wanted a seat in the dog friendly area, by time we had the discussion of whether the seat was available with one of the members of staff, the seat became occupied and we had no where to sit. We were standing in the communal area by the till. We had dirty looks from diners & then we were told we were not allowed to stand there with our dog. Unfortunately this is the only way to access the dog friendly area that I am aware of. So if you are not able to stand there why can you walk through? You are either dog friendly or not, I will not return as don’t wish to be treated like that when I was under the impression Claremont was a dog friendly place.

We had afternoon tea for 19 women on 17/11/19. The staff (two ladies, sorry I didn't get their names) were so lovely and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The food was gorgeous (a lot of the comments were - one of the best afternoon teas we've had!). They catered brilliantly for gluten free, vegan, children and pregnancy friendly. We sat upstairs, and the room was laid out beautifully! Will definitely be going back again!

Visited on Sunday to have a hot drink and catch up with a friend, did not expect the place to be in utter chaos and to be on the receiving end of rude behaviour from a particular member of staff (assuming supervisor/manager due to her bossing around of the staff). Dark straight hair slicked back into low pony working around 2pm on Sunday 20th October.Got a table as soon as we walked in and stood in the queue to order two hot chocolates, I could hear from the back of the queue the manager barking her orders at the other members of staff and couldn’t believe how she was speaking to them in her narky & clipped tone in front of people. . The drinks arrived and looked lovely but upon drinking them my friend & I discovered they were luke warm at best, they were both drunk within minutes. When leaving I kindly informed the manager that our drinks were luke warm when we received them (so she could make sure no one else had to endure a cold ‘hot’ drink), and got a snarky “Sorry” back, no sincere apology or offer of a refund, and still looking at the cups she was cleaning around her. To then later look over and see her discussing this with other staff with a face on her. So I will not be returning which is a shame as I have thoroughly enjoyed my previous visits. All I say is god love them poor 15-18 year olds who have to work underneath her!

We decided to eat out for breakfast and after hearing good reviews for Claremont, we chose here. We arrived just after 9.30am to an already full restaurant on ground floor so we chose upstairs to their newish mezzane. The views are outstanding with fields from the farm with grazing sheep to the Welsh hills in the distance. We were greeted by friendly staff who gave us the menu and asked us for drinks. The menu had a good variety of the usual breakfast food, we found it a little odd that the usual food you get for breakfast is charged as extras, you chose type of bread 1st then: bacon, eggs, sausage beans etc comes at an extra £1 each. When it arrived it was presented well along with hot pot of tea but came in quite expensive, over £20, we didn't think we over ordered our food too.

Visited the farm yesterday, Sunday 29th September and whilst the food was great, the lady that served us at the till was outrageously rude. You could see a mile off that she did not want to be there. She was huffing and puffing and gave every single customer looks of disgust. When she served us at the till, she was incredibly rude and almost shouted at my elderly mother because she didn't hear what she said the first time around. She wasn't a young lady, she was at least mid thirties and she should be ashamed at her behaviour. It really ruined the visit.

Having missed our breakfast at our hotel in Halifax we hungrily journey back toward home in the Wirral where a bowl of soggy All-bran beckoned. Then my wife suggested Claremont Farm. We arrived at 11:30 and we were torn between a breakfast and lunch -we plumped for the former. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and tomato for two a coffee and a tea. This came to an eye-watering £20. But oh what a delight. Service was excellent and the breakfast was as good as any I have had for many years. Most of the ingredients come from the farm or locally. The food was fresh and vibrant. Eggs bright yellow, firm and not oozing liquid. Sausages were long chipolata size with high meat content and perfectly spiced. Bacon was lean and flavourful just the right amount of salting. Toast was just the right colour and the butter was soft and rich. Everything was cooked perfectly and arrived hot without being baked under a lamp. I also saw scrambled eggs with salmon which on another day I will will choose. Do not come here if you want a fry-up. Do come here if you want a seriously presented English meal. I will be back again very soon.

We went yesterday for lunch. I was shocked at paying £7 for a ham sandwich, it looked nothing like the photo, 2 small sandwiches, 5 crisps,a few green leaves and a teaspoon full of coleslaw. It was very nice but so over priced. Won't be going again! We got attacked by wasps outside the whole time. if there's a wasps nest it should be got rid of.

I visit regularly with my elderly Mum who suffers with Alzheimer’s. The food is consistently good ( Best Toasted Teacakes anywhere ) But equally important - The staff are lovely. I would particularly mention Alice who has gone above and beyond to welcome us.

This place looks grim from the outside but on the inside it is really grim. A menu on the wall that only shows a few selected prices, talking of which fish and chips ,which will take about 15 minutes to cook in dirty oil and served in a tray will set you back £9.60. That's right £9.60 The fryers are covered in filthy oil which the two uninterested serving staff seem incapable of wiping up and the place looks disgusting. Once tried never again !

As a veggie it made a change to have something that isn't pasta, I had the vegan sticky ribs which was delicious and the other people with me enjoyed their meals. Lady behind the bar was a bit miserable but we thoroughly enjoyed the visit, will definitely go again.

Lunchtime walk in. We had the mini roast and dessert deal. Proper veg x3 + roasties and roast chicken/pork. Fruit crumble and custard desert. All washed down with a pot of tea. Tasty and well cooked. Friendly staff and excellent value for money at £10 per head.
