my local spoons but ut some staff need lessons in customer service i went in on saturday morning for breakfast ordered our meals then went to get 2 cups but there were none clean so asked the young girl behind the bar could i have some clean cups the reply i got back was YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT IME BUSY i didn't expect them right away but that's what i got met with i love the spoons but some staff need teaching people skills or they should get another job

Weatherspoons and staff are love but Porn Star Martini Cocktails - Dont even bother, out of a can sickly and sweet. I get there is a profit margin, but you don't get what you pay for.

Disappointed last night as watched the England Final and then was told as a lone customer at 2350 that I couldn't be served as they were short of staff ( by Tyler!) This is in front of 3 staff!! Plus a manager on the floor. And yes! One customer ( me!) At the bar. Very poor in my opinion!

Disgusting pub, avoid!! Managing in hospitality myself, I’ve never ever been made to feel so small infront of my friends as I have done today coming into this spoons. The staff are rude and management is no role model. Judging by the new faces, this place is under new management which has done this place no justice from what it used to be. Good luck 👍🏼

I have never been anywhere, where your feet stick to the floor, when you go to the bar area. The floor appears sticky everywhere. It was really bad . I have not visited the venue in a long time and I am in no rush to go back.

My wife and I eat regularly at the Clairville so we know what to expect and have noticed the increased prices which make it not such the bargain that it was a few years ago. Firstly the unsmiling woman gave me two pretty short pulled pints. I didn't complain , she was so severe and unfriendly. We ordered mixed grills. Both were lukewarm and the quality of the meats was atrocious, scrag end of lamb and steak which could hardly be cut and tasted awful. Poor quality food is almost acceptable but when its also lukewarm, ugh. I did not complain and no one enquired as to if the meal was ok or not. I rarely complain about a service and have never reviewed before on trip advisor but such was the standard of yesterdays meal that I feel that Mr Martin himself should know of it , especially as his company have also let the town of Wallasey down so much by abandoning the nearby Master Mariner. Greene king pubs will be place where we will eat out in the next few months at least. Reasonably priced, decent quality and served WARM

A New Year's meal out with the family. As always with a 'spoons' you get good food at quality prices. Fried Buttermilk burgers, pasta, curry and kids nuggets & chips, all served quickly and most importantly hot! Lots of seats around on the floor area and both areas on the upper sections. Rwally worth a call in if around the Wallasey/Liscard area

Our food was ok but not our second round of drinks: my beer hadn’t settled and when it did it wasn’t a full pint, and my partner’s cider had dried food on the glass, (see pictures). We couldn’t complain as we had our seven year old with us and there were no staff around.

We visited your restaurant but unfortunately it was quite possibly the worst food I’ve ever ordered. We usually love a coming to a Wetherspoons and on a visit to Wallasey for a gymnastic comp we had a short amount of time to spare to feed my two children I thought we’d pop in as i know it’s always great service and we were short on time. Although the food came relatively fast, no drinks came i had to go up and ask for them, the food was cold and for the most part inedible. There were a lack of items on the menu due to stock issues and what we did end up with just wasn’t at all nice and I just feel like it was a total waste of money as we had to leave most of it. My sons egg was cold and rock hard. There was no salad in the burnt vegetable burger except one end of a tomato (the end you usually throw away!) overall it was just awful. I couldn’t complain at the time as we had to get back to the competition but I am very disappointed. I have been in contact over email to make a formal complaint but no one seems to be able to help! I have been told someone will be in touch but it’s been a month of chasing and no one is replying or if they do they just say contact someone else. Ridiculous

We love the Spoons, however this is by far the worst. Was a cold day outside and it was so cold inside everyone was still wearing winter coats and beanies, inside! Plates and cutlery so cold bacon was stone cold when it arrived. So cold inside we didn't even stay for a hot drink. Staff etc great as usual, just remember to take your ski gear on a winters day...

I went with my family for lunch today at this pub and was distinctly underwhelmed. I found out that they had run out of tomato ketchup and vinegar only when I went to the condiments counter and couldn’t find any. I had fish and chips and my seven year old had scampi and chips: there was no mention of these shortages when they took my money, (there are two convenience stores on the same stretch of road nearby). My partner had a stake dinner which was supposed to include onion rings which were missing, and no staff to be found to complain to. We then had deserts and only when they arrived were we told that they had also run out of chocolate sauce, again no mention of this when ordering. Very poor.

Great spot to dine with a very quick service and lots of choice. We just picked a table and dialled up the app so drinks arrived within minutes followed very quickly by the food. We were there for the shopping so no time to lose!

My twin brother Stephen and I were enjoying visiting some of the great pubs to be found in the Wallesay area and a trip to The Clairville Pub was a must go pub,a Wetherspoon pub offering great drink and meal deals. I like the look of this pub,a modern ,light and airy interior, your typical Wetherspoon decorative scheme and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, a really good Wetherspoon pub. We were here on a bitterly cold Wednesday late evening, pub was packed with a great atmosphere, we very luckily managed to get a table were we ordered a buttermilk chicken burger ,chips and as part of the burger meal deal we were entitled to a beer,we both chose Shipyard Brewing Co pale ale ,these were served in excellent condition and quickly followed by our burger meals. My burger was outstanding, delicious lean chicken that was coated in breadcrumbs, a delicious filling served between two fresh tasty buns, chips were also superb and coupled with our fantastic craft beers made for a very pleasant dining experience in a good Wetherspoon pub. We both really enjoyed our burger meal and beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Clairville Pub is easy to locate along Wallasey Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 8am till 11pm. A great Wetherspoon pub,one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

Curry night,lamb Rogan josh. Would like to say it was vile, but It was worse. Large was still same size as small,with a flat over cooked charcoal onion barje and a samosa that tasted like a chippy fish cake. Popadoms that where rubbery with NO chutney. The half a bowl of Rogan Josh was like eating a blended bowl of vegetables smothered in vinegar, Disgusting isn't even the word.

We had 40 minutes before an appointment, so decided to get something to eat in Witherspoon's. Waited for ages, then went to ask howlong it was going to be, we were told 20 minutes. We had already to waited half an hour. When the food eventually came the chips were stone cold. Had to get a doggy bag, for the food. To eat on the way to the appointment. Not impressed.

Absolute joke. No weather spoons in my eyes. The manager was rude and disrespectful towards my fellow friends, If you have ID make sure it is in date. Wrecked our whole day for us

I visited this Wetherspoons in july the service was great food good but the whole enjoyment was ruined by two young girls running amock round the pub screeming at a very high pitch complained to staff but nothing was done very bad for people who want a quiet drink will not be back unless children are controlled not a good night.

I've eaten and drank in Weatherspoon's pubs all over the UK, from our 3 local ones in Moreton, New Brighton and Liscard, to ones in Ireland, Scotland and Wales.This is without a doubt, the worst one I have ever had the misfortune to visit.On the last 2 Saturdays, I have visited this branch to sample the Eggs Benedict that they offer as part of the breakfast menu. On the first occasion, I sent 2 servings back and on the last visit, I sent one back and demanded a refund. The problem?. Other than appalling service with a wait of 25 minutes last time, no one in this branch appears to know how to poach an egg. Poached eggs, by nature, are supposed to be soft with a runny yolk. This is the whole point of Eggs Benedict. The ones I kept getting served, were that hard that I could stand the fork up in them. That was my last visit to this outlet.

Ordered drive through burger with alcoholic drink .When it came the burger came wrapped in foil I do not know why ,it came with chips and onion rings on opening it was warm and had no cheese on it as was advertised.The waitress came over to see if things was ok and we explained .Took meals away and when they came back the burgers were still like warm but did have cheese on .At the end of the meal my daughter ordered a Gin fizz cocktail that came with strawberries apparently .not even a quarter piece adorned the top.Which in my eyes was disgraceful would have been better leaving it out.Bad night always round .Hate paying for bad service and bad food even being second round time.My daughter has the picture of the pitcher .Please be consistent in your food and your service then at least we wouldn’t have to complain

This wetherspoons is terrible. The real ale is usually cloudy and too warm, they also often put the wrong clip on the pump for the beer that come out of it. No one seems to be bothered about the quality of the beer. Too many of the staff are useless, the usual wetherspoons attitude - stand talking to each other at the end of the bar then just serve the first person they see, regardless of how long they have been waiting. One particular fat ugly one that calls itself 'ames' is very aggressive and confrontational towards customers, swearing while walking away from a customer that pointed out she gave him the wrong order, another was told aggressively ' so what do you want me to do about it ' when pointing out there was something not right about the order - she has got no customer service skills whatsoever. With regards to the food it is the usual cheap stuff that wetherspoons provide. i am definitely going to avoid this place from now on.

Service and food was great, lovely young man named Charlie was our server, attentive to our needs even though he looked very busy.

Popped in for a bite to eat and a drink, loving the new gins available, bar staff were friendly and nice no faults there the food was lovely you get what you pay for no complaints went down a treat! The man who delivered the food Charlie was an absolute gentleman, he’s a credit to this place such a hard worker and so polite and friendly always has a smile keep up the good work Charlie!

Its okay, popped in here for breakfast, service was quick and efficient. Unlimited coffee for £1.10 can’t complain, food was ok for the price

Called in wetherspoons when meeting a friend there. It was steak club today so i went for a 8oz sirlion medium rare and it was tough to chewy, chips cold. My friend had the chicken and her chips were cold and we were sitting there as waiting for a check back but no. It was bad. I was hungry so ate most of steak but nothing else. If there was a 0 i would have given that score. It is a shame as a lovely pub.

Been a couple of times for food. First time was great they had a special on mixed grills and it was bang on. 2nd time food was OK however seemed to be some delay due to eggs?? (eggs take minutes to make) apprently the chefs can't fry an egg and had to wait for the hotplate to warm up? This was 4pm nearly surely they must of noticed it wasn't on at breakfast? Anyway whatever the issue most of the meal was OK except the eggs one was rock hard and the other not fully cooked. Staff are friendly atmosphere is pretty good but the kitchen let's it down

visited this wetherspoons pub on friday 1/06/2018 as it was fish Friday to enjoy a drink and meal. pub was very busy but found a nice table for my wife and I. ordered our meals and drinks but waited a long time and people who arrived after ourselves were served before us I asked a waiter to check our order he said he would check and within minutes the problem was solved. I think his name is Charles and is a credit to wetherspoons great service with a broad smile thank you.

Good location on a main road, decent sized Wetherspoons. All you would expect from them, good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Good crowd in, and a friendly , efficient bar staff. Not a bad visit

Evening meal here, typical Wetherspoons. The food was fine though no choice of egg with ham, egg and chips (i do not like scrambled so had to do without) service quick and courteous.

I plumped for the spicy meat feast pizza for the first time. When it came I was disappointed, the pizza/plate was not very hot. The crust was so thin you couldn't have picked it up if you wanted too, good job they have knives and forks with it. Compared with the picture of the same pizza on the front cover of the menu, I barely had any green chilli - have you heard of the Trade Descriptions Act ? Spicy Meat Feast it's called, I don't think you understand the meaning of spicy as the only spice seemed to be from the pepperoni. Maybe if I went to a different Wetherspoons it would be better but I am not sure I want to order it again, well not at the Clairville. At the first sign of the sun shining, the main doors are open but not kept shut in the evening, which creates a draught and makes the food go cold very quickly. Sorry but on this occasion it was not great.

thank you clairesville for a great night Saturday its was 4 off my familys birthdays so we booked a table for 16 at spoons.we took balloons and banners and the staff put them up for us.good friendly staff and good service,food was nice.we do go to the clairville often I do think its looking a bit tied and needs a make over..but like to say a big thank you to kevin who is leaving he will be missed.

I visited the wetherspoons in liscard on 2o/03 2018 ordered a 14oz steak rare not very well cooked as it was sinuey and under cooked as was my familys steak. I would have complained but was asked not to by family good service bad steak.

Not only is this the best value pub / bar / restaurant but it’s spacious, great menu and coffee too.

Went there last week...ordered mixed grill which quite frankly was awful..the portions were unacceptable..the barman actually tried arguing with me..when I complained..and I got absolutely no joy from the 'Chef' don't whats happened..but we wont be going back..quite frankly the staff were rude and uninterested.. I got a refund but no apology..or acknowledgement..they need an overhaul urgently

Went on curry club night 12/10/17 and you were very busy, however, not everyone wants a curry, I took a chance on fish & chips, surely you can't get his wrong or so I thought.Fish was absolutely rubbery, curled up at the ends meaning fish was placed in too hot oil, and not looked after.The 10 minute rule for meals is ridiculous, you must allow the 'chefs' time to cook the meals properly with hot plates and attention to detail, sadly lacking in this Wetherspoon, perhaps you might get the chefs from the Hoylake Lights to teach you how to cook the meals properly. Very poor on this occasion. Sorry but that is my subjective opinion.

I ordered ham and eggs and got a wafer thin piece of ham and scrambled egg. The waiter said they were unable to fry eggs. The plates were cold and the chips overcooked. My wife got hunters chicken which was overcooked, the mushroom was raw and food was barely warm. this is the worst Wetherspoons I have ever been to.

I visited on 8th August between 13.15 and 13.30 approx. There was one person at the bar who had ordered food but had a problem. There were two barpersons behind the bar at the time, one a male with a beard, and a female with black hair who I have encountered before I think.At the time of standing at the bar, there was me and then another customer who promptly opened his newspaper to read at the bar....I wonder why? Two ladies then approached the bar but stood back from it.The barpersons were both at the till trying to sort out the original customers problem, the male barperson unable to sort it out himself. The female barperson passed me to do a coffee/tea for someone not even acknowledging me or indeed, the male barperson. She definitely has an attitude problem.The two ladies who were slightly behind me moved to the bar, the male barperson then continued to serve them first totally ignoring me, and not for the first time.The bar persons may have skills I don't have but observation is not one of them. After waiting for over 5 -10 minutes I then left. It is unacceptable, I don't get this appalling service at other Wetherspoons.To Management The Clairville: Barpersons should look as to which customer is next to serve, not serving those they WANT to serve first. Get it sorted or I'll be complaining to the Head Office about it. Note: If I was allowed to swear on Trip Adivsor believe me I would.

Waited waited and waited to get served as on and off duty staff discussed and sorted thier bonus ball, very rude indeed! Left without ordering.

I go to visit a lot of weather's pools in Merseyside, I rate the liscard one of the most dependable for everything, clean, very friendly helpful and kind staff, food is always good and never rushed, the staff come and check that the customers are happy with their meal, if I go alone, it's peaceful , but also friendly

took time ordering meal, very dark, staff rude, to busy with their mobile phones and discussing what they were going to do at he weekend, loud foul mouthed clientele always on the right side as you walk in, very intimidating

The chicken burger was full of grease and had soaked in to the bun making it wet ans so where the chips absolutely dripping with grease, the server that brought the food was nice but didn't come back to ask how the food was, felt really sick all day after eating the meal it was that greasyReally put me off don't think I will be getting food from here again In a hurry

Service is very poor especially in the morning when there are too few bar staff, and those that are there are worked off their feet - management please note. Many a time I've walked away as just too much time is spent standing at the bar waiting for service, you don't get that at any other Wetherspoons - usually. Last Wednesday had a nice Chicken with their new Sriracha sauce, supposed to be hot? I don't think so, it was just too vinegary so I'll be sticking with the Peri-Peri.

I went in for a light bite today 26/2/17 and ended up ordering a burger.asked if I could have jalapeño peppers on top,said to the barmaid don't mind paying extra,she said its ok so I went away with the pint that was with the meal then a young lad who works there arrived at the table and said there was a extra charge so I said no prob should I pay u now ....headed to the till where he was popping back and forth trying to find out off the kithchen how he could charge,after standing at the bar for nearly ten mins he come back and said its "ok no charge" as if that was ok making someone leave their seat to stand at the bar for ten mins like a wally.im very disappointed .wont be eating there again in a hurry.

It's a wheatherspoons, so you know what your getting. The food is good and very reasonable in price. The service is fast and efficient. The place is clean and a good location. Will come here again.

Large pub. Gets busy. Welcoming atmosphere and typical pub grub. Like breakfasts there. Disabled access ok as mostly 1 level. It is what it is.

I have eaten in many 'Spoons' across the country and know you can count on them for tasty filling quick food. True its not that fancy and sometimes meat is overcooked but for the price and with great bar prices its a great grown up alternative to McDonald's etc for something quick. The Clairville was built in an old supermarket a few years ago and it was really nice then but on our latest visit it was dirty and grubby. Uncleared and half wiped tables. Stained upholstery. Worn and tired carpet. Etc. Serving staff seemed too stretched by the customers in the place (half full at most) so this may explain the lack of cleaning but regardless it wasn't pleasant. Please look at staffing levels and close for a day or two to deep clean the place to it can get close the the pleasant family eatery it was and to stop the place descending into a cheap drinking den for alcoholics and stupid youngsters.

Great staff personalities. Great food. Great value.If you need an early breakfast it's excellent, especially if you're staying in the wellington hotel round the corner when the breakfasts dont start until 9am! I first visited the Clairville in 2004 when visitng relations in the area - and the restaurant is as good now, as it was then.

The seating area wants a good clean, seats in alcove need replacing. Kids are left to run around. Had several meals there, ONLY 1 WAS GOOD, THE REST WAS COLD AND INEDIBLE THEY HAD BEEN WARMED UP IN MICROWAVE MAKING THE STEAK PUDDING SUET HARD. It is good to meet people, and move on.

It is hard to be too hard on them, as they are a cheap chain. My burger was okay, the chips a bit greasy. My wifes chicken kebab was overcooked and a bit dry, all a bit disappointing and a reminder why I don't really bother with Spoons. Oddly they seem better elsewhere in the country than they are around Wallasey, but I don't know if that is just me. Anyway, it is a Wetherspoon, not expensive but also not satisfying. The beer is decent though.

Have been here a number of times and always had a good meal. Went on a Monday hoping to have the Mexican as is mexican night but they bihad no burritos. That aside we had lovely chicken tika wraps with chips and a drink each for less than a tenner. Food was great and as always was served very quickly. Overall a great place for cheap, decent food.

Really liked this place, food was superb and the staff were excellent. Overall a clean place and when back in the area will definitely go to again.

We have enjoyed many cheap but tasty and filling lunches, especially the Friday fish and chips special!!, at this and other Weatherspoon pubs. The prices have been creaping up a bit much though and the menu seems more restricted than i feel it used to be never the less its a great lunchtime venue for those with families too old for McDonalds! Eveningtimes though not so good as the place definitely becomes more adult and drinking oriented.

Went for lunch, the price was very reasonable less than £10 for two meals and two coffees. Unfortunately the Chilli was a bit dried up on the top like it had been sitting in an oven for a while, the rice was in lumps so presentation was lacking. My coffee was barely lukewarm, but as they give free refills managed to get another that was hot. It was supposed to be filter coffee but the attached photo suggests the filter wasn't effective. Overall not a great experience and won't be rushing back

We are regulars when it comes to eating here my brother always gets the allDay brunch with six pieces of bread and always finishes it he loves it here and so do I the place is full of great energy everyone is having a laugh and a great time.

I love going to the Clairville with friends. It's our special treat place. Many of us can't afford high end places and you get good food at Wetherspoon's and at a good price too. I think the amount of food sometimes changes but that's the only thing. They offer a nice and pleasant service, staff are always helpful and the food is always yummy. If anything it gets too crowded in there sometimes but that just shows how popular they are. Some attention could be shown towards some of the furniture at times though... The place is always clean and tidy! But I have discovered more than one booth seat loose which has make things... slidy. Still a really nice place to go to when watching the pennies.

My wife and I were very impressed by our experience at this pub, when we had an evening meal there. The service was very prompt, the food excellent and the price compared very favourably with other establishments we had recently visited. The waiter was really helpful and friendly and when we ordered a dessert, we were surprised at how large the portions were. All in all, a most pleasant experience.

Come here quite often with the wife for a cheap night out, plenty of booze, delicious, quality food with a good range of food choices for both of us. Service is always fast and friendly, atmosphere is nice too, not full of drunken idiots causing trouble for example.

Come here for tea and a few drinks on most nights out, getting a booth is a bonus!! Food is lovely never had to complain service is always with smile, staff always friendly, give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed

Like any Wetherspoons, they have a good menu to cater for those who are veggie or intolerant to certain foodstuffs. Don't expect fine dining though. They're very much good for a quick and cheap scran.

Unfortunately this Wetherspoons is lacking any atmosphere,to make matters worse the layout of the place is awful, if you imagine a big square room and three quarters of it are seating and one quarter is the bar then that's this place exactly. If you are having a meal it's worse as you feel everyone is looking at you. What this place needs is booth areas and little partitions, alcoves and more intimate spaces. The food quality is very mediocre nothing to write home about, prices on a par with similar places, staff are doing what is expected but don't do anything to make you feel appreciated. I will avoid coming back to this one.

A basic Weatherspoon you get what you get cheap beer cheap food though food not always great it is edible

Better than usual breakfast with everything well cooked and hot.The traditional breakfast was spot on and there weren't too many having lager or vodka for breakfast for a change!

I have to be brutally honest the steaks aren't great, but its the staff that make this place. Friendly, engaging and always happy to oblige to strange requests. Would recommend for a quick drink / bite to eat but as I mentioned avoid the steak, it wasn't even rubber like, it was actual rubber. I have a feeling this is more a supplier issue than an on-site one as it was cooked exactly how I asked so hopefully it'll be resolved in the near future. But I digress everything else was very nice, comfortable atmosphere when I visited, and a lively bustling bar with lots of choice.

Visiting Wallasey to see family and called into the Clairville.The service was superb and staff really friendly and helpful. I have been to a few Wetherspoons and this is one of the better ones.The breakfasts were excellent and cooked perfectly. XDefinitely coming back when next in town.

Had a night here all was good , staff very good , always on the go, had the 14 oz steak , and it was very nice, mixed grill looked very nice , drinks were very cold , will be back

Been to lots of spoons in my time. Menu is good and has a variety for good price. Food comes out quickly and isn't too bad. Decor is looking a bit dark and tired now but overall it's not a bad place to go.

Very good breakfasts served here and remarkably good value. Service with a smile. The venue itself is very tired/worn and in need of refurbishment. The torn seating in the boothed areas put me off sitting there.

Lovely place go there every few months for meal staff great food and drink great local busses stop not far outside great place day or night would highly recommend

go in here most weeks as its only 5 minutes from my house the service is great as is the food theres a great selection of real ales and somr great guest beers ! grill night is excellent u can get a steak and a pint for £5.50 curry night on a Thursday is really good my wife and I often have a meal here and on most occasions we have some of the grand children with us as they prefare the spoons to macdonalds !!
