Visited for the first time tonight for Leicester Restaurant Week and cannot fault the experience. Amazing service from the owner and staff, we went with their recommendations and were not disappointed. We had the Beguni Fritters as a starter and shared the Aloo Baingan and the Lal Saag Paneer for our main course which were two of the best dishes I've had for a while. We'll definitely be back!

Had a delicious lunch here, very tasty and nicely presented. Visiting our childhood city with a school friend . When returning to the train station for journey back to Nottingham I realised I didn’t have my train ticket/ bus pass. The staff at the restaurant had found my wallet and very kindly posted it back to me promptly.Thank you so much, greatly appreciated.

Simply outstanding restaurant run by a wonderful person and his professional team. Lovely seating and surroundings, and very well decorated and furnished. Located at a prime spot in the heart of Leicester near theatres and hotels. There is also a basement venue available for hire for those special occasions and events. Great Indian restaurant with really friendly staff and owner/manager, handling our large table with ease, and delicious food. The Ivy Chutney Feast was excellent with a good selection of starters and mains, spot on portion sizes for 4 to share buffet style, perfect value for money. We were the first customers in that evening and so service was a bit slow to start but once we were seated the staff were pleasant and accommodating. We had a deadline to get to the theatre afterwards but we had plenty of time to eat and then meander over to the theatre. The food was excellent and as we ordered they readily personalised the menu by removing ingredients from items and added others as we requested. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Had big expectations of Chutney Ivy having seen it described as the best Indian Restaurant in Leicester by some. The food was OK, average, nothing spectacular. However, taking the price into account, then I'd say it was slightly below average. The service was excellent, even though they brought us a dish we didn't order! Overall, I'd say like so many other restaurants that target the premium end of the market, Chutney Ivy seem to have forgotten that the food comes first. You can have a lovely restaurant, well trained staff, but if you are going to charge premium prices (with service charge added by default, and not discretionary) then above all, your food has to be premium too. Leicester has a lot of Indian restaurants, and so to be up there with the best, the food has to be very good. Unfortunately, Chutney Ivy ultimately falls short. A premium priced restaurant, with food which is at best, average. Probably explains why on a Friday night, 60% of the tables were empty.

I found a hair in my food and didn’t even want to tell the manager because I didn’t want anyone to get shouted at. I would give it another go to see if management has improved. I have been recommended this restaurant before so when we were looking for a post Phoenix meal we decided to pop in. The restaurant itself is nice looking but it is showing signs of being a bit rundown beyond the dining room. Chairs stacked up in the hallway, rubbish in the toilets, the corridors and toilets were both quite scruffy. Plastic surgery adverts about how to get rid of a turkey neck aren't really what I want to see when going to the toilet. The food was nice but not exceptional. The portions are small. The poppadoms were cleared away without asking, despite it saying on the menu they can be refilled for free. We weren't offered dessert, our bill was brought over without asking. It was OK but I don't think I'd go rushing back in a great hurry.

First time taking a friend and unfortunately unimpressed -I can’t help but think you are riding on past glories & id love for you to be as wonderful as you used to be

Starters were lamb chops and the fish in batter that is spiced I can't be bothered with the fancy Indian names I'm afraid but my description should be accurate enough. Mains were Goan fish and the lamb shank which is served with pilau rice, salad and yoghurt and is a huge portion to eat even somebody with a big appetite like myself. We also had a plain naan. All of the food really very nice, a culinary delight and the service excellent. The food is so much better than the normal curry house serving anglicised fake versions of the real thing and I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. I was also able to use my Tastecard there which did reduce the bill by £23.

Considering the very high prices, the food was less than average quality. Very fast to arrive at the table, which is never a good sign...and all very bland. Service was very good though. Should have suspected something was wrong when there were only 6 other diners on a weekend evening. I think they are relying too much on their long-standing reputation, but they are nowhere near a lot of other Indian restaurants in the city. For the prices on the menu they should be top of list, but sadly not anymore.

If i was able to give restaurant ZERO to its owner i would gladly give it with great pleasure as the owner was extremely unprofessional even though he failed to deliver naan and i asked for a simple " sorry" and he just started shouting me and when himself delivered after quite some time at my building door he as so arrogant and with complete nonsense talks showing blatant lack of business sense by the food was simply horrible to the point that my son refused to eat as it was poorly cooked customers please beware of this owner who should not allowed to work in the business instead he need to go to school to learn how to talk to the customers instead!
