Had a friends gathering and dinner, Had an wonderful night with great food especially. Staff is humble and kind with ability to provide suggestions accordingly. Recommend for everyone as they have live music with family environment.

Had an excellent valentine's night here. The event was supposed to start at 7pm but we didn't get the food till 9pm 2 hours of waiting around. Other than the delay it was a night to remember.

The place was good, entered in late as the venue was double booked

Everything had black pepper. No other flavour. So many people to serve but still noone available when you want them. You could only hear sound of band, just to give you headache.

Food & Drinks The food was decent, though not extraordinary. Some dishes stood out, while others were just okay. Here’s a quick breakdown: Chicken Jira Wings – These had more bone than meat, which was a bit disappointing. The flavor was there, but the portion felt lacking. Masala Chips – Packed with flavor and one of the highlights of the meal! A definite must-try for those who enjoy a spicy kick. Butter Chicken – Cooked well with a good level of spice, but something felt slightly off—perhaps missing a depth of flavor or a key ingredient to bring it all together? The drink selection complemented the meal, and everything arrived at a reasonable pace. Service The staff were attentive throughout most of the night, checking in on our table and ensuring everything was going smoothly. However, when it came time to settle the bill, things slowed down significantly. We had to ask multiple times before finally receiving it, which put a slight damper on an otherwise enjoyable experience. Overall Experience Mother India offers a great night out, particularly for those who enjoy live music with their meal. The vibe, music, and entertainment make it stand out, and while the food has its hits and misses, it’s still a solid option for a fun evening. If they improve the billing process and refine a few dishes, this could easily become a top-tier dining destination in Leicester! Worth a visit for the atmosphere and music, with room for small improvements in food and service.

Valentine dinner and dance 2025. Attended the event with family feb 14th . They had a dj and buffet meal. Event Was held upstairs in the hall The event was not sold out but still went ahead (about 30 persons in a hall that probably holds 150). Could not grumble as it was only £20 per head. Starters where nice (served at 8pm). However, mains can out to late (10.30pm) One issue (don't want to post pitures). Refurb your toilets in the venue. They are disgusting.

Good food , however it would help if your menus were more clearer, eg. What the ingredients are like Garlic,or Onions etc in the curries etc as after seeing in menu we orderd channa curry and it didn't even mention anything like it contained garlic and onions, also when ordering we did stipulate it needs to be mild as I can not eat too hot. When it arrived even with Yoghurt I found it too hot!!. However the vegetarian sizzler and manchurian was perfect in mildness and excellent flavours. Also like someone else mentioned regarding music being too loud, we did find it same as you can not even hear staff or also person sitting opposite you to have a conversation.

Worst food, worst service. We ordered daal makhani, chicken tikka, butter chicken. They also charging for salad. And when we ask for pickle they said we don’t have pickle. The service is also worst, we asked for napkins, the girl came and threw the napkins on our table. The taste of food is so bad. Don’t go there to waste your hard earned money.

Hello We book upper part of mother india lounge hall as private party of laides n kids. There was lots of fun we enjoyed lots The food was good as they says they recommend also,staff was friendly n well decorated n all perfect we had lots of fun. Specially thanks to NEEDA who help her every time .

We had a party 🎉 the service was rubbish. Management was not helpful very over crowded. Drinks were warm. Food was nice when it eventually arrived. We paid upfront for a set menu however some items only came one dish for multiple as we had asked for. Music was to to loud we could not hear ourselves on the table.

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were good. The service was good too. However, what really lets this restaurant down is the extremely loud live music they have playing. People go out for dinner to enjoy the food and talk to the people they’ve gone out for dinner with, not to have someone shouting down a microphone for 2 hours straight. Your staff struggle to hear the orders when they’re being told so I wrote the order down on my phone. Surely that’s sign to lower the volume, we repeatedly kept asking for the music to be turned down and each time they said yes we will but never happened. Unfortunately I won’t be returning because you end up leaving the restaurant with a headache which ruins the whole experience. Such a shame as I mentioned both the food and the service was good.

Good food, but my ears was under high stress!for the whole 2 hours..Very loud music live music. Unbearable loud the live music is being conducted in such a small place. If it was at lower level of volume, I think we would have also enjoyed. It is common sense to play the music at right level while having dinner.

Food was good but we had to send their plates back twice as they weren't clean and had oily marks on them.. the lady taking out orders kept talking to other people whilst writing down our order so not surprised they messed up the order a little but the food was delicious, Greta chefs

La dirección / propietario no apreció que el joven mostrara la cantidad en su teléfono que había tomado una captura de pantalla. La única razón por la que no lo pidió en línea fue en el momento en que no tuvo acceso a una tarjeta de débito. Insistieron en que pagara el importe total, ya que esto no se ordenó a través de Internet y el pedido se realizó por teléfono. El joven señor explicó que no podía pagar porque había comprado la cantidad correcta. El precio completo era de aproximadamente £ 30 y el precio de Internet era de £ 23. No apreciaron su costumbre y cuando regresó a casa, me había explicado la situación. Fui al lugar y hablé con el dueño que de repente tuvo una actitud diferente cuando estaba hablando con un joven de 16 años. Le ofrecí un consejo para su personal por la diferencia que tanto le preocupaba. Le pregunté cómo se sentiría si alguien hubiera tratado a su hijo así y sus palabras "yo también estaría cabreado". Le dije que aprendiera a tratar y mostrar respeto a los jóvenes que visitan su negocio. El dinero nunca fue un objeto de nuestra parte solo la comprensión y respeto que se le dio a un joven. We booked out the downstairs restaurant for a 50th wedding anniversary party. Nisha communicated via text and kept me informed all the time. A couple of days before she called to confirm the menu. Samar and his team Neera & Himanshu were fab on the day dealing with all our requests and even helped set up an area fir the cake and photos. Food was amazing hot and tasty. I will definitely recommend this place 👌

At Mother India Restaurant, the food was okay, offering a decent variety of dishes. However, the experience was marred by an excessively loud live music concert. The volume was so high that we couldn't hear each other while ordering, making the dining experience less enjoyable

The garlic chilli prawns was 10/10 I have never tasted anything like this before also tawa chicken was very delicious. I would like to go back again and relish Mother India's other dishes.

Great service and friendly staff, food was good, we had a birthday party for 25 people and we all had great time. And not forgetting Live Music was so good we were all on the dance floor dancing and enjoying the evening..!👍🏼

Nice food and a fair quantity of food, good helpful staff, given three star for too congested table space. I follow vegetarian diat due to tight space management you can get a strong smell of non-veg food that you do not like to smell.

What a delightful experience with the new, young and humble new owners of Mother India. So young and so caring. Had a fabulous night, Friday last. Would recommend everyone to visit. You won't regret it

This review is just for chicken biryani. It was not good, its just like fried rice and borne less pieces also they add capsicum. I prefer not to try, very bad experience . Took for me 8.95 pounds for it.

Food was lovely the old lady that served us wasn't welcoming she just wanted to take the order. My bad I didn't check the bill but we got over charged by 1 dish and naan breads. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING WE GOT DONE OUT

My visit to Mother India in Leicester on September 8th, 2023, left me thoroughly disappointed. We were looking forward to a delicious meal, but the experience fell far short of our expectations. As soon as we placed our order for a chicken sizzler, a vegetable curry, and an egg curry, we were taken aback by how quickly the food arrived – just 3 minutes after ordering. This lightning-fast service raised doubts in our minds about the freshness of the dishes. Our disappointment deepened when we tasted the chicken sizzler. The chicken was incredibly tough and lacked any discernible flavor. When we asked our waitress about it, she honestly admitted that the chicken had been cooked the day before and reheated. This revelation was disheartening, and it made us question the restaurant's dedication to serving fresh and delicious food. To make matters worse, when we shared our concerns with the restaurant manager, their response was far from satisfactory. Rather than addressing our issues, they scolded the waitress for being truthful, leaving us feeling frustrated and unheard. In a city like Leicester, where there are plenty of dining options, it's perplexing why Mother India would choose to serve reheated food. Our experience at this restaurant left us not only with an unsatisfying meal but also with a sense of letdown as customers. I strongly recommend considering other dining options if you're looking for an authentic and enjoyable meal. Mother India failed to meet our expectations and left us disappointed.

We went out as a family of 8 and found it great value for money. The starter was excellent (mixed grill/sizzler). The mains were tasty, but I believe they used the same sauces for all of them, as you couldn't tell much of a difference. The service, unfortunately, was very slow and a little forgetful. Some of us had visited before and said the service was excellent previously, so maybe the slow service was a a one-off.

We celebrated our kids birthday recently at this function room recently and I can vouch for everything. There is no single thing which I can think of which needs improvement. Sunny, Champak uncle, Neeraj and all other supporting staff was on toes to make event successful. Food was awesome, all arrangements were fantastic. 5 starts without any doubt on this! Go for it guys and you will never be disappointed!

Good food, good service, but a little pricey. The atmosphere was okay, we went on a Thursday evening when it wasn't too busy so it was good that the food arrived fairly quickly after placing our order. Overall good experience. The only issue is finding parking around the area.

The restaurant didn't live up to the hype surrounding it. Going with my family meant we can order a lot of food which included the super sizzler (non-veg) and the veg sizzler. The non veg sizzler was poor. Unfortunately not much flavour in the dishes and the lamb chops that came in the sizzler barely had meat on them. The highlight of the whole dinner was the veg starter. It was well seasoned and came out in 4 minutes. For main course we got a keema tawa, mattar paneer, garlic chilli soya mince and a chicken tikka masala. As curries go they weren't bad, just not as competitive as other restaurants in Leicester. When being served the food, one of the waitresses told my pure vegetarian mum that the chicken dish was a paneer dish. We can tell them apart but for someone who is less aware, this could of caused a big problem. And unfortunately, inside the atmosphere was non existent. For a £100 bill and many other restaurants near by to choose from I understand why.

The restaurant serves absolutely lip smacking food. We ordered Portion of chips Chicken noodle Dal Tarka with Jeera Rice Paneer sizzler and mix veg sizzler Garlic Chilli paneer Soya Tawa Sabji And of course some naans and beers :-) Food was served in about 20 minutes and the service was class 1 The staff was very friendly and food is reasonably priced. We surely gonna come back and I highly recommend this place to veg and non veg eaters …. I recommend booking this place in advance to avoid any disappointments ;-)

Really disappointed. Decided to try this place after the reviews. Coke was advertised as a glass bottle but received in glasses which was completely flat. Waiters said they asked us which we would prefer but they didn’t ask us at all. Daylight robbery, £3 for a small glass as well. Service was slow, kept forgetting items we ordered. Had to wait almost 30 mins for a starter. Food portions were small and prices quite high. Ordered quite a few starters and mains, all seemed nothing special. Could tell same gravy was used for so called different types of curry’s. On top of that, most staff were grumpy, no smiles or happy faces, no real customer service. Requires ample improvement in my opinion. Poor quality, expected much better in terms of service & food.

The desi chicken curry was brilliant as was the crispy chilli chicken starter. Will be returning soon... service was great as well.

Loved the food here, perfect spice level when asked for food extra spicy. The chilli mogo is the best I’ve ever eaten- amazing. Menu also labelled vegan. Very friendly staff too.

We visited here on Friday night as a group of twelve friends. The place did not disappoint us with he food served. The service was friendly and pleasing. The portion size were generous with excellent authentic taste of Indian cooking. The place was busy but the chef(s) in the kitchen did not let us down. The menu prices were very reasonable. Inside deco and w/c facilities can be better but can't fault the place for the food. Highly recommended for authentic taste. Not for eye catching appeal of the place.

the food was amazing and authentic in terms of taste. There was a great balance between spice and flavour, which can often be difficult to achieve, but the chefs have done an amazing job! The staff were very friendly and attentive, making sure we were happy with the food. The portions are great for the price you’re paying, the starters could’ve been a main! absolutely in love with the garlic naan, as the garlic was spread evenly and reached the crust, so every bite was full of flavour. All in all, would definitely recommend :)

Appalling service, the food we ordered was microwaved (you can see the food being microwaved.) Wrong food arrived on the table, the soft drinks were not fizzy. When ordering drinks the staff kept on forgetting to get the order.

Food was lovely, we had the garlic chilli paneer that was very tasty.. sizzler was also very good and very good butter chicken for mains. I would recommend these dishes.

Delicious food…good Places to visit for Indian food

This is a lovely family run restaurant, the food is delicious, and comes in very generous portions, and the staff are all very friendly. We had the mixed Bhajia, and crispy chilli chicken to start, and the the Desi Lamb and Bindi. All were very good and we have enough of each taken home for a hearty lunch. There is bar with some draught beers and a good selection of spirits and bottles which is a welcome touch. The decor is simple, not at all pretentious, and it's comfortable enough when it isn't crowded. We had nice chats with the owner and the manager and they have a large function room for events.

Food was delicious, can't fault that at all. Everything we ordered was cooked quickly and was very tasty. Nice looking restaurant and lovely and cool.

Terrible service, bland food, and outdated and sticky decor. We were made to pack our own leftover food to takeaway, and waited 25 mins for the bill even though the place was empty. On arrival, we were greeted by a waiter who then cut our conversation mid-way to speak to another party behind us - rude and ignorant. Staff seemed slow and atmosphere was dull. Wouldn't visit again.
