Bobby's in Leicester

Honestly, where do i start, had a few tables empty and we were stood at the entrance waiting to be seated for about 10 minutes. After being seated , 40 minutes no one served us we had to manually tell them. Food wasnt what we expected, one of my party members is allergic to one thing, we made sure it wasnt in there, they were so hesitant with their answers. The main reason im writing this review was because of the service, our food came out 1 by 1 which shouldnt even be an option. We went for a FAMILY meal and based off the service we basically went solo. Definitely will never reccomend or even look in the resturants direction or even consider eating there. Lesson learnt to check reviews before actually going to the place as it already has bad enough reviews. We complained to them in person saying their service was quite slow and wasnt happy with how the food came out, glad the waiters were self aware how bad the resturant already is. Please save yourself time and money, do not come here respectfully.

Another fantastic lunch with family and friends at Bobbys. Food and service was great, lovely to have so much Gluten Free choice. We had Thali’s, paneer masala, paneer with spinach, Dosa’s, rice flour dumplings, lassi. We ate so much sadly couldn’t manage dessert. Need to pace ourselves better next time. Will be back soon.

My wife and I went to Bobby's for afternoon tea. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our table - I had booked a couple of days in advance. The food was delicious - so different from a traditional afternoon tea! There was a great variety of different dishes, our favourite was the Corn Bhel, and the there was so much of it. Just when we thought we had finished another dish would arrive. We couldn't finish it all but they kindly provided a couple of containers so that we could take the leftovers home with us. Great service and a very enjoyable afternoon. Thoroughly recommended!

Went to Bobby’s restaurant today to celebrate my brother in law’s birthday. We were looked after by Dips, Hari and Kyushu who provided an excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. The food arrived promptly and was delicious.

The time for the food to arrive was extremely slow. It wasn’t just my table that experienced this as other tables were also making the same complaint.

I was visiting my sister and she took me to Bobby’s for lunch. I had traveled from the US and do not have Indian restaurants where I live. I had a delicious meal and the service was great. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I brought the book back to the states with me so that I can enjoy some Indian meals here at home.

Somewhat costly as per food quantity and taste.

I swear I will never buy any sweets from This shop. They don’t make any authentic sweets, it’s just full of sugar and prices are unreasonably high. Last time I bought sweets for Diwali, I felt so bad. I thought it might be Diwali demand and supply business but no I was wrong and become fool again to buy Baklava. It has no pistachio or any dry fruits filling, in fact it is full of sugar with semolina. Huge Huge disappointment.

Where to start the review. Heard about this place what a disappointing experience. Starting from the service at the service counter we were group of 11 and the counter people stray away refuse to provide service no manner of how to speak to customers. After waiting for over 25min we got separate seating area (not a problem) ordered different foods like of /special chat masala dhosa, pav bhai ji, thali, Mango milk shake and so on (a lot to List) Mango milk shake was like water most probably mixed just mango plum with milk same with other shakes with ordered totally waste of money. Food masala dhosa not even going to write anything not even wort of writing. Don’t go there totally waste of Money and time

Bobby’s Restaurant – A Disastrous Dining Experience ⭐ 0/5 – Avoid at All Costs I visited Bobby’s today, hoping for a pleasant meal, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. From the moment I stepped in, the service was appalling, and the food was nothing short of a disaster. Customer Service – Non-Existent The staff were disinterested, unprofessional, and seemed completely unbothered by the presence of customers. We were left waiting far too long before even being acknowledged, and when we finally placed our order, it felt like we were inconveniencing them. No smiles, no courtesy, just a robotic approach to taking orders. It seemed as though they had no training in hospitality or customer service. Food – Overpriced and Tasteless For the price they charge, one would expect at least a decent meal, but the food was shockingly bad. Bland, poorly presented, and utterly lacking in flavour. It was clear that minimal effort had gone into preparation, and the ingredients used did not seem fresh. Even the simplest dishes were a letdown. The starters were cold and uninspiring. The mains were either underseasoned or overcooked beyond recognition. Even the drinks seemed watered down and below standard. Given the price point, the food should have at least been edible, but instead, it felt like a complete rip-off. Ambience – Unwelcoming The atmosphere of the restaurant was just as uninviting as the food and service. The place lacked warmth, and there was no effort to create a pleasant dining experience. Tables were not properly cleaned, and the overall vibe was dull and lifeless. Final Verdict This restaurant should not be open in its current state. The owners seriously need to reconsider their approach to food and customer service before they inevitably lose business. At the very least, they should invest in proper training for staff, improve the quality of ingredients, and most importantly, focus on delivering a dining experience that justifies the high prices. Until then, I would strongly advise avoiding this place. There are far better restaurants where you will actually receive good food and respectful service.

Amazing food. We opted for Jain options and the taste was impeccable. They were really kind and attentive to our 1 year old baby too. A really comfortable place to dine with family. I highly recommend this place. I have been here multiple times and the quality remains the same.

Simply the best vegetarian restaurant in Leicester

Went to Bobby’s in Leicester a few days ago. The restaurant was fairly quiet. I ordered a Gujarati thali and my family ordered some side/starter dishes. The thali was not very impressive at all but the side dishes/ starters were excellent. We have dined at Bobby’s many times over the years. We are pleased that Bobby’s restaurant and in particular Dharmeshbhai Lakhani, Enna Lakhani & the team are providing a good service. The quality of the food is generally good and the service is good. However, lately the takeaway orders have not been good because of the amount of sugar and salt in foods. For example, the crispy bhajias were so salty that I had to throw them away. We have realised that on some days you get good tasty dishes and on other days they are not so good. On the whole, I’m pleased that we have a Gujarati food restaurant that caters for vegetarians like me. But if Bobby’s could become more consistent then that would be nice. 🙏🏽

We've been going to Bobby's for 35 years. It's gone from good to bad. The furnishings are all modernised but didn't like that they have removed the buffet. We used to come for that. In fact my whole family used to come. Starters were good . The prices are horrendous. £14 for Gujrati thali. We ordered 4 but as soon as I finished my food I got sickness and diarrhoea uncontrollably. I was ill for 2 days. Although the food was tasty I felt they put too much hing in all the Curries which upsets my stomach. I have never had this problem before and I do to eat out. Service was far too slow 3 times we had to go to reception to ask for stuff, even the lady that was working there apologised. Initially we waited a good 25 minutes before our food arrived. It's a shame it's gone down so much. Well we certainly won't be going there again, waste of £100 !!

Hi, Today we went there. I ordered vada pav , Baingan Bharta , Paneer Tikka Masala , Tandoori Roti , Chapati. I don't like this restaurant it was not good. If anyone look proper punjabi food so this restaurant is not for that. I only like tandoori roti which was soft nd thin. Chapati is not properly cooked. Paneer is hard and we order paneer tikka masala and i think they gave shahi paneer kind of. Baingan bharta was so much oily & no taste. They gave our order in 35 mins. Still food was not good. And Vada Pav , Pav was not good its look like burger bun. Thanks.

This is the best place to go to eat authentic Indian food. I've been here several times and quite often we're the only white people in there. Which means it's good, cos it's where South Asian's go to eat real real Indian food. Flavours are so good you don't notice you're eating Vegetarian food. Worth a drive all the way to Leicester for lunch.

Not the greatest! travelled to Leicester from London and went to this restaurant. Ordered quite a lot of food however some dishes were very disappointing. If you buy mitais from this place, please check them first!! The photo is how we received the mitais (half eaten) disgusting!!🤮 I ordered a chilli paneer dosa, firstly, it didn’t come with a lot of paneer inside, the dosa was extremely oily, it was also a little cold. The masala dosa was again similar and the masala inside was tasteless + all the chutnis and Dhaal which came with it were not nice and also tasteless. The Loaded Bombay Chips were also not the best, they were standard chips with grated cheese over (not even melted), the cheese naan tasted frozen! The only 2 decent things was the bhel puri and the bhinda fries however these were also slightly salty. The masala chai we ordered just seemed like kettle tea but they made it sound fancy on the menu. We had to wait 30+ minutes for our food and even then they forgot one of our dishes so had to wait another 5/10 minutes for that. Overall I would say even though this restaurant looks nice from the outside and it is full of people, I wouldn’t recommend Myself and my family were disappointed and didn’t want to argue about it with them as we were already tired from a long drive to Leicester and back to London.

We had a fantastic breakfast. Very tasty, lots of options and owner was nice enough to ask about the service and food. Would recommend anyone who wants a nice comfy Indian snacks and meal.

Literally very very bad experience you know the which one old guy always there for take the order he’s lier I’m student here and I want to share my experience with all Leicester people before two days I’m coming to home from my work and I was very hungry I thought today I will buy food from Bobby restaurant then when I will go in this restaurant then I did order 10 plain chapati and dahi and methi sabji and my total bill was £17.50 and the I asked to this old men how much he said to me £23.50 then I was shocked I asked again how much but he’s said me again same £23.50 then I did count total and then he said to me yes 17.50 maybe he think that she’s new in the uk and she’s don’t know about anything and don’t take roti from there roti is not big not medium just like that for 4 year child seriously very very bad restaurant next time don’t cheat with any student no anyone is nonsense stupid ok

The best special chaat and chilli paneer and bhaturey ever! We came to Bobby’s after many many years for our fav chaat and it did not disappoint. The family have done Bobby proud by keeping the standard as high as it ever was!

....This restaurant has been at this location for a very long time. They have a Hugh menu,providing gujarati dishes. A wholly vegetarian establishment, their thali will leave you licking your fingers. The dosa was the best in town. We took home kichoris and mixed bhajhias. Every dish here was made to perfection. Parking is a little different. There were plenty of tables available and the service was excellent. Great experience.

What an super evening. This was our first visit and it won't be our last that's for sure. Thanks to the owners Dharmesh, his wife and Kathy who served us with genuine care and consideration So interesting to learn more about the restaurant's family history too. Second visit to Bobby’s this year and just as good as the first. This time we tried the Thali’s which were fantastic. Wonderful flavours, great service and outstanding value.

Bobby's provided the Mithai for our wedding and we were exceptionally happy with the result. The presentation of the sweets was superb and the taste was delicious. We had no problems with our order and Bobby's staff made the entire experience very easy. Finally, our guests were all highly impressed with some calling it the best Mithai they had tasted in a long time. Great restaurant too. We pop in any time we are on Belgrave road. We fully recommend Bobby's to anyone!

Very bad food no test in pani puri, fried rice and chat had no salt or proper way been made and we left the restaurant. me and my kids have to go in other place to eat. Passion fruit juice mixed with water and sugar so disgusting passion juice was in layers I would not suggest eating in this place it’s just waste of money

Very disappointed.. went yesterday with my family .. just 1 karahi pneer took 1hour 10minutes.. staff was fine ,,but they don't have enough peoples for serving...i went 2-3 times ,, every time same problem ..no one come for taking order .. when i call 2-3 times .. they come .. said 20-25minutes .for order .. but it took more than 1 hour ...for water , i call them 2 time..

Disappointing Experience at Bobby's Restaurant We traveled all the way from Birmingham, hungry and looking forward to dining at Bobby's Restaurant, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The service was terrible—we repeatedly asked for water, and the staff simply ignored us. After a long wait, the food finally arrived, but it was utterly disappointing. The taste was unappealing, and the chaas (buttermilk) was horrible, leaving a sour, unpleasant aftertaste. Hoping for a redeeming moment, we ordered mithai (dessert), but it was so bad we ended up throwing it away. To make matters worse, we discovered we had been overcharged. When we brought this up, we had to ask for a refund, adding unnecessary stress to an already unpleasant experience. This visit was a complete letdown, and we would not recommend Bobby’s Restaurant to anyone. Poor service, bad food, and billing issues make it a place to avoid!

One of the best chatt and traditional desi Indian food ever tasted in UK. Whole staff was wonderful specially Dipeeka and Reshma were so nice.

My wife and I arrived at the famous Bobby's with high hopes of great authentic Indian food as per the many previous good reviews with little idea what a disappointment lay in store for us tonight. When we arrived the restaurant was not that busy and all started well, nice table for 2 and our server took our initial drink/food order within 10 minutes. From then on things slowly deteriorated, it was about 15 minutes before any drinks arrived (and missing our requested water jug) another 15 minutes later our initial hot starter style food order turned up, not being regular Indian food diners this did seem to meet our expectations. By now the restaurant had a few more diners but was far from full and about 20 minutes after finishing our starters a larger version of one of our dishes arrived but was obviously not for us as we had already consumed ours. I overheard a couple of other nearby tables having similar experiences whilst we were there. 10 minutes or so later I ended up having to ask another server to take our next course order (we had initially requested a short break before ordering any more food) so by now we have been in the restaurant for well over 1 hour, then we sat and waited, and waited and waited. After 35/40 minutes I had to get up a ask a server where our next food order was which turned out to be 2 small cold plate dishes (no cooking involved at all) miraculously within 5 minutes of asking both dishes arrived and whilst they were well presented they both seemed to be an amalgam of all the same ingredients, just plated up differently. It's now nearly 2 hours since we arrived and we're really not enjoying our food so asked for the bill which surprisingly turned up rather quickly (too little/too late) We didn't realise that a 10% service charge had been automatically added to our bill but if I had known I would not have paid this. On the plus side my request for a taxi was sorted quickly and arrived soon after, thankyou for that. All in all this was such a disappointment and I can only think they were having an 'off' night, but I would could recommend Bobby's to other potential diners based on our experience tonight.

Got the best food with the worst service. When I ordered a portion of chips I asked for ketchup so when I asked the waiter he said we have no ketchup can’t you see other people plates and what’s so worse is that when I asked another waiter they gave me a bowl full of ketchup. Furthermore, for every meal the table next to me asked for they gave it to us even though we told them many times it is the other tables. Truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had for customer service at a restaurant. Finally, there was also styrofoam in my cup. I wish I could give 0 stars for service.

Steeped in history and tradition, it's a great place to enjoy in Leicester golden.mile. The service is slow but food is amazing.

Food average, atmosphere chaotic, service needs massive improvement, young guy with glasses behind the counter needs to be more focused and simply not walk away to help another customer carry tgeir bags to the car! Then comes back and couldn't remember what i had ordered, then tried to pack everything in a small box squashing everything until i had to stop him and got him to repack. The management needs to get more capable staff behind the counter who have good customer service skills.

It was a pleasure to visit Bobby's a few weeks back. Special mention to Dipika, Ashu, Ritika and the uncle at the counter for their exemplary service and promptness. The food was equally good to compliment their attitude. We would love to go again. Thanks.

I had a lovely Asian Afternoon Tea at Bobby’s with 10 of my girl friends. Bobby’s really took care of us and made us feel very welcome. The afternoon tea was wonderful and a very different experience from a traditional afternoon tea. The food was really delicious and my favorite thing was the Rose milkshake. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and eating experience, I’ll definitely be back. Thank you Bobby’s!

Thanks to Dipika and Kolmal for guiding us through and explaining the panoply of delicious dishes which were brought to our table this afternoon. It was much more than we could manage to eat so they kindly packaged the remains up for us to enjoy another time. The masala tea has a lovely aroma and tastes spicy and delicious and the coconut cake is satisfyingly moist. A great experience and we'll definitely be returning!

Always go to Bobby's to get some sweeets when I visit leicester, this time I decided to eat in, service was very slow and on top of that I recieved wrong order. Couldn't see any professional waiters. It's more like family run businessI guess, and most of the kids didn't have a clue what they were doing. The girl working at the chaat place was more helpful than the waiters and the lady taking orders. Sweets are top quality, though. They definitely need to work on their service and food delivery time.

I've been coming to Bobbys with my family since the late 1990s when I was little. The restaurant looks very different now, but I love its atmosphere and how open it is, with the natural light. The food is really lovely, the thali is filling, tasty, and great for that price, particularly in this climate. Service is always kind. I like to buy food from the shop side on the left too, it is always great for my cooking needs - the sev is great.

Rubbish service. Called for food they said 30-35mins. Got there, they said another 10mins as they’d forgotten a couple of things. I got up again after 15 mins and said I’ve been waiting over 1hr, they said just another few mins for one more dish. After questioning, they said this would be another 20mins!! I asked for a discount as the food would be cold, they said you can have the sweets ordered for free, these cost less than £2 off a £44 order !!! They even had the cheek to charge me for the bag. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Great food but crap service, will take my business elsewhere from now on

Went here a bit early so we were restricted to the choices on the menu. Bobby’s is a quick meal and catch up type of place to go to. I like my food a bit on the spicy side and this I did not get here. Only thing I loved is the Cripy Bhindi which I highly recommend to try, though they could not make it’s a bit more spicer for us it was still tasty. We ordered Mixed veg platter / Chole Bhaturas & Crispy Mogo which all were bland for me. Asked for a spicy sauce on the side but even that didn’t do anything for me. I would definitely go for the Crispy Bhindas but otherwise I would not go back anytime soon here.

I ordered a takeaway from here tonight, which cost me £12.95 including the delivery charge. For that I got 5 very small Katchuris and 5 small pieces of Patra , with chutney. ( £5.50 per dish) We weren't very impressed with the food and definitely not value for money! I've always wanted to try food from Bobby's, but wish I hadn't wasted my money now. My first and last time.

Had to wait long time for someone to take order although not busy at lunch time. Ordered a Thali and most of the food had no taste, potato, aubergine under cooked, dhokla dried, potato bhajia no taste. Very pricey and not worth the money.

Bobby's has really got worse now. I visited with my family today, Close to 35 minutes of wait and food dint arrive. Highly disappointed with service as even to take order they took 15 min... 35 minutes and still order did not arrive. We decided to leave but the staff did not even show any remorse! Save your time and look for other options.

Crap services and quality of good has gone down hill. Order variety of items and it all came out one at a time not coming here again

There was a wait to get seated although we had booked in advance.The food when it arrived was good.

Very tasty, colourful, and exciting food, and attentive professional service standards. We had the Punjabi thali plus another plate from the board menu , extra mango lassi, and all were gorgeous. As non vegetarians, we don’t miss the missing ingredient one little bit. Thanks to Himani and all the staff.

We visited Bobby’s for my father in laws 70th birthday, and had an absolutely fantastic time. While we weren’t quite expecting it to be so much like a diner/canteen, it really did not matter as the food was perfect. The staff were friendly, the food came out fast and hot, and the total cost was very affordable. We will certainly recommend and visit again.

Food was good, it was a little oily. Service was great when they got to the table. Even though it was pretty empty it took longer for them to get to us or acknowledge us.

Tasty food. Friendly staff. Could be cleaner.
