Raj Mahal in Leicester

Items missing, they would not redeliver the rice said we were to far away! 10 minute drive which they were happy to deliver original order to. Curry also tasted salty.

Not been to the Raj Mahal on Aylestone Road, for a while but we got a takeaway tonight meal for 2 and it was absolutely delicious 😋 thank you 😊

Ordered mixed bhuna curry,with lamb tikka starter,chips & a keema naan bread all was delicious spice was just right would definitely recommend. 5***** food & service many thanks.

I moved from London a couple of years now , I must say I have not tasted any curry in London as good as this place ! Wow .. I’m super happy to have found my local Indian . Very pleasant and polite . I ordered takeaway , was piping hot and fresh ? The meat was melt in the mouth, I cannot wait to dine in and get more of the atmosphere. Thank you , I’m so happy some places still care and cook with heart and passion . Wonderful food .

I ordered a take away, then seen the reviews and got a bit worried..however the food was amazing, fresh and full of flavour, lamb bhuna was 10/10. Everything smelt so good and even the driver was smartly dressed. I'm very impressed 👏

I use to love the raj mahal food not had a takeaway from there for must be over a year. Just fancied a curry ordered chicken tikka masala the chicken was really hard and dry like it been cooked twice. The poppadoms was like it was stale and the nan bread was cold . Really disappointed. The sauce was nice but that's it . I Don't think I order again or I wait another year before I do

Customer service was good, they tried making our experience good. I had salted Lassi and it was over powered with salt but they happily made another one but to my surprise it was same heavily salted. I just asked for water so i can water it down. I ordered pannier shashlik (dry), looked nice and came out sizzling but taste was bland, we asked for it be hot but spice level was taken up by chilli powder but it was fine. I ordered garlic chilli pannier as main curry and naan. I asked for curry to be HOT and came out sweet which i was very disappointed with, plus point, my first Naan was nice soft and taste was nice but when i ordered sec naan, very disappointed, i thought it was poppadom. My friends who was with me was also disappointed with there food. We like to go to eat least 2 x week and we was meaning to come here, we won't be rushing back any time soon. But we will give another opportunity sometime.

Raj Mahal was a very good restaurant with excellent food and great service. I found the restaurant to be very inviting and cosy. I noticed that the menu holders were torn and the decor could use a little work. Overall, I would highly recommend them.

Very nice. We had the £28 take away deal. All food was cooked perfectly. We are 1 Punjabi and 1 English and both loved the food

The food was excellent. Good selection of drinks. Staff were friendly and approachable, good service. Nice atmosphere, seating available and didn't need to book in advance. Reasonable prices, also takeaway option. Only downside unfortunately there isn't any parking, though can use side streets nearby

Always try to support local and have used Raj before but now they take your order and money and then tell you 5 minutes before its due to arrive that they are too busy, not good enough

We celebrated my birthday here with friends and so pleased we decided to try out this restaurant. My wife is a vegetarian with a dairy intolerance and this was reassuringly handled by the friendly and respectful table staff. They actually have a vegetarian menu! The two vegetarian dishes we enjoyed were really nice, we thoroughly enjoyed each. Our friends had a tandoori salmon dish that they also enjoyed a lot. Somehow they could taste the delicious spices and yet also the salmon. Great balanced flavours. I recommend a visit to this lovely restaurant. Great well cooked food, brought to you by kind attentive staff in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

I rarely eat Indian food at restaurants as my mum makes it at home but I can say that the 3 dishes I tried were all delicious. Asked for them to be tasty spicy so as not to burn your head off and they came just right. A bit if a kick but no lasting effects. Staff were attentive and on hand when needed so all in all a good experience and I would definitely go there again

Food was good, a little hot for my palette but overall tasty. Excellent service and they even made a cake for my brothers birthday.

A first visit to a delightful restaurant in the heart of Aylestone. Greeted warmly by the owner and his family and found some of the best cuisine in its class. Cooked to perfection and delivered by people who genuinely care that you have the best experience they can offer. Many people use this place for takeaways but I urge you to call in and meet the people and feel their attention to detail in everything they do. In the end you’ll know why the food tastes so good

We went with a party of 4 and we all enjoyed the food, the mixed kebab starter was a little light but was very nice, my lamb curry was very good and all the extras were fine, I would say they could do better on the service front all is a little slow even trying to get the bill. I will return for a second try that will be the decider.

This was an awful experience. Our mixed starter was very odd, instead of chunks of meat like chicken tikka, lamb shish etc, it was all diced up into tiny pieces. Never known a mixed starter like that before. I asked for a madras hot sauce with my lamb biriyani and it came with a mild sauce. There was a huge bone in one of the pieces of lamb which I almost swallowed. The peshwari nan tasted like a plain nan, no flavour at all. The korma tasted more like a masala. Finally, there were no sauces i.e. raita with our starter (which would usually come as standard in most other Indian takeaways) and even though they gave us complimentary poppadoms, still no dips! I mean, who wants a dry poppadom? No one!! The only positive was that we got a complimentary dish of 3 chicken meatball type things, very nice, if not a little dry. We came here a few years ago and weren't impressed, thought we'd give it another chance but wish we hadn't! Not a quality curry house in any way. Wouldn't have put such a bad review on but the multitude of errors was unbelievable!

We ordered a takeaway last week it was horrible 😞 I think the chef has changed it was worse than a supermarket meal. When complained, no apologies or money back. Won't bother again.

Local curry house does the business...not winning awards, but, if this side of town and want local, fresh, good value and great service, Raj will sort you out.

We visited the Raj Mahal after a day at Grace Road, it was a Sunday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant in the time we were there 7-8pm. The proprietor could not have been more welcoming he spent a minute or so chatting after showing us to our table, took our drinks order before leaving us to peruse the more than adequate menu. We didn't have a starter, choosing to just have poppadoms and pickle tray to set us up for our main course, we were asked by the waiter if we were ready for the main course and it was duly brought out and served from their little trolley, piping hot and looking delicious, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely use again when in the area. Thank you for your hospitality and lovely food.

If unsure about which Indian food you should try, the staff here are happy and willing to give advice. They will cook the meal to your preference making it milder or spicier as you wish. Have been a customer for years and it has never failed to provide a great meal even with the most awkward of my family and friends.

Looking for a local curry house, can't beat it , reasonable price and very tasty food, do takeaways too and will definitely return

Only had an hour for dinner, so arrived at 6pm. Large menu, good service, very tasty Chilli Paneer followed by excelent Fish Jalfrezi.

What a find! used this restaurant many time, taken lots of friends from England and abroad and without fail the food has been amazing. The staff are really helpful and lovely, the owner Saleem is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and will advise and help with choices they also do a children's menu of Indian food! which is something we're never found. They will adjust the strength etc., of any dish to suit you taste. I can thoroughly recommend the Raj Mahal to anyone you will not be disappointed!
