Chinese Wok in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

My husband and I are on holiday in Cornwall and we decided to get some take out. Wow! This is by far the best Chinese takeout we have had. We live in London and haven’t been able to find good Chinese food and would definitely not get some for this price. It was good value for money and absolutely delicious. Our food also arrived in 8min from ordering and the person taking our order was very polite and professional. We highly recommend the beef and green pepper in black bean sauce as well as the chicken chow mein.

Ordered a takeaway and was ready for collection in 10 mins. Probably because it had been sitting there for a few days waiting for someone to order it. Chicken was drier than Gandhi’s flip flop and who knew that the Chinese put peas in EVERYTHING 🤷🏼‍♂️

Every time food ordered from this place is absolutely delicious, I can't fault it at all.

There’s a new guy working in there, he’s ever so helpful just like the other guy who’s been there years. A helpful and friendly atmosphere. Was a joy to pick up as opposed to delivery

We were recommended this Chinese from a friend. Absolutely horrific customer service! We waited 2 hours for home delivery of 2 dishes, chips and noodles. They didn’t even appologise or give any gestures of good will for the insane wait time. Will not be back.

On par with my favourite Chinese takeaway, best ever sesame prawn toast. Very friendly guy on reception. If we lived down here this would be a regular visit.

So these guys are stars in my eyes! They say you have an hour and 30 mins before they can deliver! And I have ordered several meals over two years, they relived my food in 30mins and I tastes great! They never disappoint! Absolute legends.

If you like an incredibly long wait and vast amounts oHP sauce this is the place to go! Otherwise don't bother!

The portions are of a decent size, the quality and amount of Chicken in the chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls was very good. This is the best Chinese takeaway that I've found in the area so far, but please note that they only accept cash.

Disgraceful chow mein. NOT a Chinese standard. Awful staff and utterly disgusting meal. Peas mushrooms and peppers in a Chow mein? Not worth the money. Don’t use this place, go to East Meets West!

Found this place a few months ago as we're new to the area ,excellent food even friends from upcountry say its better than their ones

I've used this restaurant for many years and won't be returning. Person on phone accepted an order when they shouldn't have and they are prioritizing local orders before mine even though I'm paying an £8 Delivery FEE. DON'T ACCEPT ORDERS IF YOU CAN'T HONOUR THEM. SHAME ON YOU, I'm so offended by the unprofessional attitude on the phone and from the owner in the kitchen that I will NEVER spend a single penny again with you. HORRENDOUS.

Food is good but they tell you to arrive at certain time and you still have to wait for another 45 minutes. Very frustrating because it happens every time I order take away from them.

Best Chinese I've had in St Austell area. Only 4 stars because they don't sell any soft drinks in cans or bottles. They also had no chopsticks or fortune cookies .... a must with my take out 😁

Asian family on a holiday for few days in Cornwall, we spoiled ourselves with local seafood but on our last day, we were really craving familiar food and Golden Wok didn’t disappoint. Tasty food, great portions, friendly and helpful staff and their price is nowhere near the price you’ ll get in expensive London. They were really busy when I got there but they happily accepted my order first while I took some cash which is just next door Coop as they don’t accept card. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Not cheap and a bit of a wait because they where busy. But everything was cooked well and tasted great, portions also a good size.

Always go here when on holiday never been disappointed with the food.

The Golden Wok’s food is excellent. Living in the West Midlands, I am spoilt with having great takeaways and usually struggle to find similar quality restaurants when away. Wait times are a bit longer than I’m used to but worth waiting that little longer. Would highly recommend. Certainly above ‘Par’ 😉.

Would have been nice to try. But! Visited September 17th. Ordered by phone, 18.20, for collection, was told very busy, would be hour and quarter wait! Okay no worries, but, when went to collect hour and 20 mins, was told another 20 mins!! After waiting another 45 mins, so over 2 hours from phone order, I asked for money back as got too late to eat. Yes I got my money back, as it was still in the queue to be cooked!!! Not happy! Last day of holiday and was looking forward to chinese to finish it off. Shame. Won't be going back

Used to be lovely, unfortunately really gone down hill, food bland all tasted the same, chicken tough. will give it a miss for some time.

Didn't get chance to try food as wouldn't accept card payment over the phone for delivery. In this day and age, seems ludicrous and can't think of a reason for not accepting this. You missed out on a big order, but guess you won't be bothered

We have had takeaways quite a few time from there now and the food has always been very good especially the chicken curry (so much chicken) very friendly people there too 😋

I will never go back again, they think covid is over, you can't buy anything under £10 on card, most of the food they should pay you to eat it.

Best Chinese I’ve ever had. We shared Chicken balls (with curry sauce), mushroom chow mein, salt and pepper chips and prawn toast. All cooked to perfection and would highly recommend!

The least authentic Chinese dishes I have ever eaten. Sweet sour, and satay dishes taste like a dessert. Will avoid coming here if I'm ever in par.

Best one around, really good food

Ordered food by phone, told 45 minutes to pick up, got there on time it was still over 15 minutes more. Food seems to come in random sizes, Main courses in different sized dishes, all food tasted the same (bland) regardless of what sauce it was meant to be in, not horrible but no where near the best. Seems to be a somewhat lazy feeling that let's this place down.

I only eat chicken balls, curry sauce and chips but they are bloody lovely. customer service is very good and friendly.

If we could give it minus stars we would. Food was tasteless, egg fried rice was congealed and disgusting. My Husband ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, when he cut into the ball the chicken was brown, it was inedible and we had to throw everything away. Definitely won't return.

Amazing service and quality of food. We did a huge order for 22 people. Each dish was tasty and everyone said how great the dishes were. The honey and chilli chicken was my favourite by far. Highly recommend this Chinese

Very disappointed, Golden Wok recommended to us by holiday park owners/wardens. When we ordered we were advised by Golden Wok that there would be a 60-80 minute wait for delivery of food, 2 hours later we are still waiting! When I called ref given waiting time was told ' we did tell you how long would be ' when I challenged this was fobbed off by them telling me how busy they were, totally unacceptable.......we are still waiting....and hungry!

Well done to the chef. The food was of high quality. Quick service and big portions. Highly recommended. Pancake roll is worth trying. As well as the Sal and Pepper ribs. The prawn toast was good too.

Been here a number of times and confirm great food. Only gave 4 stars as the place desperately needs a refurbishment and a big tidy up before the building falls down! It doesn't have a "clean" feel inside but actually the food is great.

It was my first time of trying the Golden Work I had my food delivered and it was on time and nice and hot. The food is very good I really injony it and the priceis are really good.

Salt and pepper chip's are stunning

We are stopping in St Austell for a mini holiday, and fancied a takeaway rather than the pub again. A quick trawl of tripadvisor reviews and we settles on The Golden Wok, it certainly didn't disappoint. The shop itself looks very run down, but don't let that put you off. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was to put it simply, delicious. We will definitely be back

Just a mediocre Chinese takeaway

Not a bad curry. Quite busy this time of year, but we didn't wait too long.

We’re currently staying at Trenaython Manner and ordered a chinese from here as a change and we couldn’t fault it. We rang up around half past six placing an order for delivery at half eight and they explained that there was already an order booked for that time but we’d get it straight after and it arrived at twenty too. Food was piping hot and all fresh. Good portion sizes and taste was spot on. Better than our chinese at home, we loved it. Man on the phone extremely polite and man who delivered the food was polite and explained why it had taken a while because of the lack of lodge signage. Would definitely visit again.

Very nice food. They have different varieties of curry such as black bean curry etc. Fast service. Rating 4 stars as they need to add more vegan/veggie options such as vermanchelli noodles.

Delicious and wonderful chinese takeaway with big portions and great flavour. They repeated back our order to us and the phone manner was professional and great. The ribs were delicious. Lemon chicken was lovely but I thought the chicken could have been cut into smaller pieces. One of the best chinese takeaways I've had. Fresh chilli's with the salt and pepper prawns which was great!

Staying at Penhale farm caravan park. Sent for a meal last night, Was amazed one of the best we have had for years we had starters and 3 mains and all were excellent would highly recommend, Was a little surprised that we didn't get free prawn crackers, as the bill was nearly £35 but still good.

Meal was ok but time taken to make it was well over the time advised when ordering

Really gone downhill. My king prawn chow mein was thick, gloopy and dark brown. The 'prawns' were like silicone and had NO taste at all. There was so much chopped garlic that I initially thought the dish contained sesame seeds! The taste was sweet (no idea where that came from! ) and strong garlic. Sadly not even a hint of prawn.

Pretty standard Chinese takeaway. Not going to win any awards for originality but is tasty enough and you get plenty of it. Cards taken. This is take away only with a pleasant enough waiting area. Well patronised by the locals and staff were friendly.

The best Chinese take away for miles

The order was late, when I queried how long I was told 1 minute & no apology.. I ordered a variety of food and I always like to test out the pancake roll, which was an abomination, soggy and oozing saturated fat. Everything was dry and the special rice was soaked in sauce, that's not how it's done. Noticed their last award was 2013???? The place seriously needs a revamp and their carpet must be a breeding ground bugs haven. Will never go back.
