Absolutely the worst place I have ever eaten at and been in . Now being suck

This is a perfect spot for lunch on a Saturday, ask for a seat in the window and just watch the world go by, the couple who run the restaurant are super friendly and the food is perfect, always fresh and hot, it is always quiet at lunch time but busy in the evenings. This place is a must.

Really lovely food and exceptionally friendly service. It’s sadly often quite empty so the ambiance is a bit lacking, but we make up for that ourselves. The range of food options is very good - especially for vegetarians. Would highly recommend for a sit-down Chinese meal in Faversham.

We pre-booked but they didn't know who we were upon arrival at 7.39pm. That's just the start. A table for three was to shown us five people. It was tiny, it had just three spoons and forks and only two serviettes. A larger table behind us was vacated so we asked to be moved onto that. Turns out, the people who vacated actually got up and left because of the bad service. We ordered, you can see the bill in the photos, it's not complicated. The wine was incredibly expensive the diet coke (a can) was £4.00....how much? Yes £4.00. After waiting for 1 hour and half we still had no food. An offer of free drinks was accepted as compensation for the delay. Eventually my sizzling beef arrived but, nothing else for about five minutes. By then the sizzle had stopped. The remainder of our order came in dribs and drabs. The girl bringing it just plonked it onto the lazy Susan (turntable) without any explanation of what each dish was. It was about the same quality as you get from a very bad takeaway but nowhere near to restaurant standards. And the portions left a lot to desired. I mean.....chips, £3.80. curry sauce £2.00 and was not at all good. Anyway, we were all hungry so we ate it, all of it. During the evening I went to the gents toilet. The door was propped open and is right next to the kitchen. Inside, the urinal says "Out Use". Next to the sink (which would not allow water to run away) was a bin with rags and other nasty stuff. The hand dryer appears to be faulty, so a toilet roll is on top, for drying hands?? We should have refused to pay, it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and I've had a few!! But no, being as we'd eaten it all and the people who run it were all smiley and that it was a busy evening and they were understaffed. We paid in full. But......would we return? Not on your nelly. I've bent over and been spanked once. That's enough for me. There's plenty of other places to eat in town. Oh, and on the window outside, the hygiene rating is just 4.

Delicious traditional Cantonese food with delightful and personal service. Highly recommend

Came here at 6pm on a Saturday night. It was mostly empty so the food we ordered was very prompt. It was also lovely and cooked to perfection. Would recommend to dine in

Very good Cantonese food, particularly good starters. Mr Wu and his family were very welcoming and attentive.

We were staying fairly nearby but didn’t fancy the hotel food. We found this Chinese by accident but it was so good we were happy we did. The food was delicious, the staff very attentive and the cost very reasonable. We were only 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant so I hope they are busier on other nights to keep them going. One of the nicest Chinese’s I’ve had. Definitely recommend a visit.

Called in here Saturday 27th July 2024 without booking around 5.30pm, although it was empty as only just reopened for the evening we were welcomed, seated and dealt with in very polite manner. Service was fast, food was lovely and the place was clean and tidy, no complaints at all. The place was filling up gradually during our meal time and looked popular. We had a pleasant experience and would use again.

Food was Fantastic. Catering for a family party of 15 , we were impressed how good the food was and how welcoming the owners were . Food was freshly cooked to order and had excellent quality meat and vegetables. Originally we were suspicious as the restaurant was so quiet however the food and service seriously did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

I telephoned China Village quite late in the evening and the owner was so welcoming. My business partner and i were treated to an authentic chinese welcome. The food was amazing. I am going to bring my family here.

This place is awful £4 for a flat coke in a dirty glass Greasy plates Spring roll with NO filling No garnish on the plate or dip Lots of uncooked huge chunks of onion in the main NOT a vegetable in sight other than onion £8 for pak Choi ridiculous price DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Delicious homemade Chinese meal, far too much for us to eat. Staff very attentive.

New owners - what a breath of fresh air for a great eating establishment. Lovely down to earth owners who even shook our hand and said thanks as we left. A nice touch. The food was superb, served hot and on time. We had a hilarious experience as both owners wrestled to open our bottle of champagne. Something you'd never see in a fine dining establishment, but added to a sense of 'real people' operating a 'real business' Thanks for a great experience.

The service was wonderful - never had to wait for anything and the owner is really friendly. My son is Autistic and was so excited to go for a Chinese on our way home to Nottingham from Dover. Both the owner and the young lad who works here were so good with him. They interacted with him really well and made a fuss of him. The food was amazing and very high quality! We were impressed with all of it! Restaurant was very clean and prices reasonable. I honestly think the negative reviews are confusing this place with somewhere else so don’t let them put you off, this place ticks all the boxes!

Excellent. Service. Excellent. Food. Very good. Plentiful portions and tasty. Actually took some away boxed up. Drinks good value wine and good quality. On our experience an excellent Chinese restaurant. Very nice people.

Worst food and service. Food took forever and then dishes were missed. Staff had no clue what they were doing and some couldn’t speak English. Food was very low quality and full of MSG. Crispy duck was soggy. Drinks had no ice. Rice over cooked. Chicken in black bean was tasteless. Save your money and eat somewhere else especially if you know what good Asian food is.

A Chinese restaurant that doesn't know what a chow mein is, need I say more? They got my order wrong after 45min of waiting, on top of that its overpriced, not clean, flies everywhere, avoid at all costs🤢

Grim. Greasy food & obvious cutbacks in ingredients. Swimming with grease. Felt a bit sick afterwards. Another dish was swimming in residue water.

I wanted to leave a review as when we were looking before coming there weren’t many here. The resteraunt was very busy tonight (Chinese new year) and the staff were rushed off their feet but were very apologetic and polite. Despite this, we were in and out within an hour and a half for starters mains and drinks. The food was good, fresh and well presented. I would say it felt quite expensive, however that just feels like most things these days! The staff are friendly and overall it was a good experience.

We just had a takeaway and can honestly say it’s the worst Chinese food ever eaten … three Of us sharing and all agreed - Most of it went I the bin. Even the sauces were horrible ! Tasteless and not cheap at all !! Won’t be using again.

On our move to Kent from Oxfordshire we were on the search for a top notch Chinese restaurant- after many duffers we finally found this gem. The restaurant is on the square in Faversham and doesn’t look particularly special but oh my the food is fantastic. Served by the delightful owners with guest appearances from their enchanting baby! The menu is what us Brits expect but cooked to perfection, you can actually see the prawns in the prawn toast- so succulent- not the usual dried up offerings that are sadly so common place. The crispy duck also needs a special mention as does the Sweet and Sour chicken Hong Kong style. I always hated spare ribs but these are in a league of their own- lots of juicy meat in a fabulous sauce. All in all a great place.

Lovely little restaurant. I've only put 4 stars for service as the owners struggled a bit with English so ordering and asking questions wasn't straightforward. They were all lovely though

We came here for a late lunch. We were seated right away. The food was good and chatted with the couple who owned the restaurant. It's located adjacent to the Faversham market, which is very easy to find. Parking lot is nearby.

We visited this restaurant earlier this year with visiting family members. The service was absolutely appalling having had to wait to order first the drinks and then food. One drink brought to the table and a 20 min or so wait for the other drinks even though we saw them sitting on the side. Still hadn't ordered food so in the end paid for drinks and left. Our son visited with his girlfriend last weekend and said both the service and food was great so we decided to try again. Shouldn't have bothered!! Service was an absolute joke. Slow to take orders, slow to bring drinks and foods, prioritising takeaway orders over restaurant customers, and a complete lack of understanding of what is needed to run a restaurant. To make matters worse there is no air-conditioning in this place so in the warm weather customers are sweltering - maybe a ploy to make you buy more drinks which then aren't delivered to the table. All in all, a poor experience which will not be repeated.

Had the pleasure of taking lunch away from China Village today. I always said the only thing missing in Faversham was good sushi and I passed and spotted the board saying they serve Japanese sushi. I was met by such a warm lovely couple and their beautiful grandson and had the pleasure of taking away an excellent curry and sushi. What an unexpected treat, thank you all!

If you’re looking for a good Chinese this is certainly not it. House special chow mein ordered consisting of 2 prawns, half a piece of beef and a curled up piece of chicken begging for redemption. The sharwoods dried noodles brittle on the edge where the kettle dared to tread. All this for a one time only price of £8, honestly you should be ashamed of yourself. Don’t take people for fools Just close.

Had to try this place for myself as had a lot of mixed reviews. It’s quite hard to find the right amount of starts to give this! Starting with the venue: quite a bland setting could do with an overhaul and some background music. Food: the food was great, tasty, hot and exactly what you would expect. I would add that for the price the Duck dish was not enough and small, most of the portion sizes could be bigger, or reduce the cost. If I had to rate the food then a 4 definitely as an average because of the size and definitely a 5 for taste! Service This is where it falls over! Arrival, we had drinks order taken and also knew what we wanted so order the food. The starter came out In less than 10 minutes and arrived before the drinks. Then there was a 45 minute wait for the aromatic crispy duck Ordered another drink, not hard really a double jack Daniels and Coke Zero. Twice they came back to check the order and then a can of Diet Coke arrived!🤦‍♂️ Re ordered and then after 20 minutes the JD and Diet Coke arrived which was wrong. An hour after the mid course the main arrived. Like I say all very nicely cooked. Didn’t bother with another drink. While waiting there were a couple who got up and left after 50 minutes and not even getting a drink Another table waited for over an hour to place an order and two other large tables also left after over an hour of waiting. The service would get a one star rating only because we managed get food to the table. It was absolute chaos in there. Shame really because with a few more staff and some training and organisation it would be great. Definitely worth going if your after free entertainment, good food and you have a spare evening.

I am sorry to say that I had the worst restaurant experience at China Village tonight and probably the worst restaurant experience in my lifetime. My friend and I were forgotten about after we ordered drinks and had to ask for our drinks and to order our food. We along with other tables were given no plates until we asked and at one point a table of 5 people got up and left as they were forgotten about. Another table were asking for spoons to dish up and we didn't get any either. One table asked for a clean fork and this was taken from the table that had previously left. This customer asked for a clean one. We were given sparkling instead of still water, given duck instead of lamb and saw the waiting staff bringing out wrong dishes and running back into the kitchen. They explained they were understaffed yet had a chat with customers whilst we were waiting for our bill. In the end we went to the bar to pay as we were sick of waiting. All their tabs were muddled and they had to put through our order on the system twice as they weren't confident with the system asking us what we had had twice. They even asked us who had served us food as they couldn't remember who took our order. £71 for the bill and my friend felt robbed. The food was very questionable too. Normally I take leftovers home but my stomach couldn't handle it. At first we laughed, but then we became annoyed. Fawlty Towers is the only word I can give and will not be going back.

China Village is our favourite place for Chinese takeaway - great food, reasonable prices. Wouldn't recommend eating-in as the restaurant doesn't have the greatest atmosphere - but the takeaway is incredible

We ordered spring rolls, Kung po chicken, rice, and sweet n sour prawns. All cooked excellently. So good! Highly recommend.

We stopped into this restaurant after a visit to the lovely cinema in faversham, with our two young boys. The service was excellent and the food was the best Chinese food we've had in a while. The staff were excellent with our kids and no exorbitant service charge was added to the bill as it is in most places these days. A wonderful evening and we will return! Thank you

The room temperature of the restaurant was freezing cold and I ate our meal with a scarf wrapped around my shoulders and my husband with his coat on! massively long wait for our food order even though the restaurant wasn’t full!! the quality of the lamb fillet dish we ordered was fatty and full of gristle considering the expensive price!! This was once a good restaurant with delicious food but now the quality of food is sub standard especially for price charged and the man in charge was rude and needs to go to charm school!!! Won’t be going back till it changes hands again!!

Great location, good atmosphere, friendly, fast service - and I’m afraid that’s about the best I can say. Grilled dumplings were very dull and very stodgy; chicken and sausage ‘hotpot’ clearly not a hotpot; ‘king prawn Kung Po’ clearly not king prawns but strange, vaguely prawn-flavoured mush extrusions in commercial batter and a nasty sweet sauce. Best thing eaten was freshly-cooked Bok Choi which was not on the menu. Having said that, everyone else in the crowded dining room seemed perfectly happy, so maybe it’s just me!

Was quite when we was in there so wasn't much atmosphere, food was over priced for what it is, most was pretty bland and oily. I've had better from take aways.

This Chinese Restaurant was once a wonderful venue with tasty dishes and lovely staff. After a few years we tried it once more this week. But what a great disappointment, all 5 dishes were prepared quickly. Unfortunately they were not very hot , the meat dishes had hardly any sauce, rice was dry and not very tasty.... decided not go there again!!

Phoned an order through, was told 20 mins I got there after 22 mins, I was still sitting there an hour later, the 2 men working were useless to be nice. Got home with the food a hour later then I should have to find 3 items missing and the food was dry and tasteless. Safe to say I will never use this place again, and I advise you not to.

Our usual Chinese was shut so we ordered a take away from China village instead! When it arrived the whole order was wrong which made it v difficult for my mum who has swallowing problems. When we phoned the restaurant we were informed that we could either have a new meal cooked or have a free take away the next time & she would write it in the diary. As it was getting late we opted for the second option & blended the food for mum. The food itself was delicious! We went back the following week to claim our free take away & the place was in bedlam. The card machine wasn't working nor was the cash point & all the staff were arguing amongst the staff-very unprofessional behaviour! I was also refused our food as the woman who agrees our compensation meal wasn't there & we could only have our food if we paid-not sure how we were expected to do that with no card machine or cashmachine working! The gentleman may have been stressed but that didn't excuse his extreme rudeness! Shame on you China village, we won't be returning!!!

We had an amazing meal here on Monday afternoon/evening! Mixed starter for 2, the best prawn toast I've had this tide of Vietnam! Spare ribs to die for, seaweed, and pancake rolls which were terrific! I had Szechuan chicken main... Mmm Other half had ¼ crispy duck. We were both very pleased with our meals Thank you Sie

This is much better than it was. Although the food has always been good, it was let down by the slow service, our last meal there took hours and we were hesitant about going back. But, they have got another waitress now and the service was swift and the food arrived promptly and was hot. Nothing felt too hurried nor were we sitting waiting.

Excellent food, excellent service! We were in Faversham looking for a meal on Sunday 7th August and came across China Village, which at first looked like a takeaway, but on further inspection had many tables further back in the premises. The 4 of us selected various dishes including our French friend, who thought it was the best Chinese food we've had in a long while. Enjoyed the crisp white tablecloths, something not seen much these days.

Food took three times as long as promised, and while I waited a customer called me a c*nt for asking how long it would be, to which the staff had zero reaction. Food wasn't bad, but can't recommend it over others in Faversham.

I get a takeaway every week or so and it’s by far the best food I’ve had. The people are the front are always so nice and friendly. Chef specials are brilliant!

Just had a take out Crispy Squid which was lumps of old fried batter - no squid in sight! It tasted like it was cooked hours ago. So disappointed and won’t return Not acceptable at all

Had a family meal here the food was excellent but I’m sorry the service was poor. No draft beer, wine was not cold. It would appear that Jimmy the owner has now leased the restaurant out as a result the place lacks the Jimmy touch.

The food was amazing and so was the service. We had the vegetarian feast for 3 and each course was amazing and there was a lot of food, I would advise going with a empty stomach - we ended up taking a doggy bag home of some of the 3rd course - tofu in yellow bean and aubergine in sauce. Would definitely go again if I am in Kent again.

I find it very disappointing waiting so long for a takeaway (3 hours) that I was told would only take an hour!Then to find, many people turning up for their orders and also having to wait only to be told the restaurant is understaffed. To then add to the list of problems -Was unable to get refund due to the lady not knowing how to do card refunds and running out of cash.

Excellent quality of food and a nice menu. However on a couple of occasions, the takeaway collection times have been a bit hit and miss. Only eaten in once and it was lovely. I keep meaning to go again.

Lovely staff and tasty food. Capital spare ribs were so yummy and if you eat fish try the steamed sea bass in ginger and spring onion..so so good!

In the past I’ve had so-so experiences at China village but since the new management has taken over I cannot say enough about the quality of the food. It’s less greasy, fresher tasting...a fabulous range of dishes to taste. Highly recommended.

Had a takeaway last night. Hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. Special fried rice only contained egg and chicken. No shrimp, pea or vegetables. Sweet and sour pork was a mush. No pineapple, peppers or onion. Stir fried noodles and beansprouts were dried up as if cooked hours ago. I've always loved China Village but never again

It is one of the nicest experiences coming to China Village. Even during lock-down we still go for takeaway with the same fabulous food. It is a taste sensation

Fantastic take away meal incl a couple of Tiger Beers thrown in free of charge to celebrate Chinese New Year . Very generous portions , really enjoyed the meal.
