I would like to know what went through the persons mind when this butterfly prawns were cooked, sorry cremated, that being charged £7 for something like this is vaguely acceptable

Ordered take away for a family meal after some good news. Clearly stated wife was vegan, clarified the Tofu dish was free from fish sauce etc and ordered a friend rice with chilli.. NO EGG. Easy right? After waiting an hour and 25 minutes, and a delivery of our food to the wrong house we got the food to find it cold and the vegan dish filled with Egg. I asked for a refund and was told that “I can’t access that system” and that the manager needed to do it. I’ll update you as to whether that ever happened. I’ve asked for a call back as cold, inedible food is not something I am prepared to pay lots of money for. Don’t waste your time ordering here. Go to one of Southseas other fine establishments that deliver on time, to the correct address and serve food that can be enjoyed.

I’m not sure what I just ate. Used to be my favourite Chinese in Southsea, but nothing tasted like what it’s supposed to. It wasn’t bad, just not what you expect from the million other times you’ve eaten it I think the sweet and sour sauce was shampoo maybe

Lovely food always. Extremely dissappointed today no prawn crackers after spending nearly 40 pound. Spoke to the takeaway after delivery and all what was said oh sorry. 20 pound you receive free crackers so we should have got two portions. I also give a tip every time we have one, maybe try elsewhere.

Did a food order online, the guy on the other end took my order I asked him to repeat my order back to me . My card then would not work over the phone so I went and paid at the shop. I then went back home to await my order for my family. Who were down from Scotland. The food arrived and there were three dishes missing and a dish that I did not order. I questioned them and I was told TO GO TO CHINA TO GET MY CHINESE FOOD. I spent £68 would not even give me my money back kept apologising for the young man words and the other young man’s error with our order that I asked him to repeat.

We used to love this takeaway - so much so that we'd come from Oxford to pick up one to take home. We've been staying in Southsea for a couple of days and ordered a takeaway tonight - with extra to take back home, and it was very disappointing. I don't know if they're trying to save money (understandable, I guess) or not, but the prawn toast was about a third of the size it used to be (and, as a result of this, slightly burnt and not very tasty). The chow mein also didn't taste as good as it used to. The starter no longer has the chicken skewer that used to be very tasty. All in all very disappointing (especially considering that everything has increased in price and we paid a pretty hefty price for below-par food). It seems a shame that to save money this place has gone down hill. Surely, you want to encourage people to keep using you by keeping your standards as high as they were. Scrimping on certain items just means that people will eventually stop using you and you'll lose out. Such a pity really.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. The first time we ordered we waited two hours for our order, calling numerous times and being fobbed off. In the end we cancelled our order. We tried again tonight and yet again more issues. We ordered a chicken curry and wrote in the notes in caps no onions, no mushrooms. Both curries turned up with them in, the prawn crackers were stale and chewy. We called and spoke to a young boy. It was a difficult conversation with him not understanding. I got him to repeat the replacement order. But when the replacement order turned up- no prawn crackers (we paid £3.70 for these). When we called back we were fobbed off numerous times. No solution given. We will NEVER use again.

Had a takeaway. Arrived promptly.Food arrived hot . Hong Kong sweet and sour rice chicken balls beef & mushrooms rice bbq ribs . Meal deal . Will definitely use again. Really tasty.

Tried a different Chinese takeaway from the one we usually use,when having a few drinks round a friends house.We was a bit weary trying someone different but ended up enjoying our food and would most definitely use again.The food was at reasonable price came boiling hot and was off good portion size.We ordered chicken curry,egg fried rice,sweet n sour chicken balls and chips.

Food was packaged perfectly and tasted amazing, everything was hot. It was NOT regular re fried food, tasted so fresh and flavourful!

Do not waste your time or money!!! This was awful. I think the chicken died of natural causes, and the rest was just below average. This place has put me off Chinese.

Ordered tonight at 10.30pm , the food was piping hot I actually burnt myself on very very tasty hot and sour soup , mixed pork and prawn balls extremely good and again so fresh and hot could not handle , young chow rice great and honey spare ribs and salt and pepper chicken excellent , very impressed many thanks x

First time we used CH, wanting to support a restaurant near us and try a different one for a change. The meal really was a mixed bag ...and that’s not what you want when you’ve been looking forward to the meal and are hungry. The Singapore Chow Mein was good - tasty and spicey. So were the spare ribs in bbq sauce and the egg fried rice. The banana fritters were meant to come in syrup. They did, if you looked very very hard there was syrup; a teeny bit. We have maple syrup at home so it wasn’t such a deal. But ...pretty bad that a cheap but crucial ingredient was to all intents and purposes missing. Now the downright ugly ... My wife’s sweet and sour mixed vegetables was just wrong. It smelt wrong, the sauce was watery and it tasted ...well ....off. Yes, I should have let CH know (my wife said it may just have been a bad batch of sauce / vegetables and that CH may have been grateful for a heads up). I disagreed, even though it was her meal; she couldn’t share mine (being spicey) so it sort of spoilt the evening in some ways. We live and learn. I’ll stick to my normal restaurant of choice when I want a Chinese meal. This may well have been a complete one-off, however, it sort of put a dampener on the evening and is deserving of 3* (and that’s being kind).

OMG!!!!! This was absolutely amazing!!!! BEST TASTY CHINESE EVER...my taste buds were tingling. Would highly recommend 👍

We had a takeaway for four and while it was fairly busy we didn't have to wait too long. The staff were friendly and no complaints with the service. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. It was good value for money. Will have no hesitation in ordering food from them again in the future.

Mongolian lamb was about 80% beef with some lamb. Cutting corners to make more money , i would rather pay extra and get what I asked for. Disappointed.

Comprehensive menu. We had a selection of 4 different dishes all were very well seasoned and the 2 king prawn dishes had a lot of king prawns in them, the 2 meat meat dishes also had plentiful amounts of meat. All dishes also had a good amount of veg. Service was excellent and a large bag of complimentary prawn crackers was included. The best Chinese take away we have had from Albert Road.

Para llevar llegó rápidamente el viernes por la noche, pero no dulce salsa agria con nuestro n sweet n bolas amarga de pollo. Cuando llamé me dijeron que estaban demasiado ocupados para cuidado y nos darán gratis bolas de pollo la próxima vez. No habrá una próxima vez. La cola gratis nunca apareció. No me importa si la comida era buena, pero no pierdas tu dinero, hay un montón de sitios en Portsmouth para probar

I was sent food with no vegetables in vegetable dish...i have to say very disappointing. Sadly for a take away I would previously recommend. They told me, they had vegetables in my dish..my answer was where? Then to add insult to injury giving them the benefit of doubt, on next order, i ordered salt & chilli squid and it was crispy than the prawn crackers they send complimentary, unable to bite into them it was all so over done, and again very dissapointed indeed by what i would have said previously were nice friendly staff, a huge let down

This is by far one of the best Chinese takeaways this end of Town or maybe in town. Service good, food good, not lots of oils dripping..service on delivery is always on time

Sosa y procesada chino. Lo que es mejor ir a Islandia y horno cocinar! Las albóndigas, gambas tostadas y spring rolls eran algo sospechoso calentados rápido y sabor. Ni siquiera sabía gambas pegue existía. Hay un montón de lugares para comer en Portsmouth - elegir en ningún otro lugar!

Would use again, food lovely and easy to order over the phone. Waited just over an hour which was the expected delivery wait. Good value too.

Encantador llevar! Fácil y rápido, y la comida es excepcional. Muy delicioso y muy bonita. El personal es amable, el negocio parece bastante concurrido, siempre es una buena señal. Es bastante pequeño, pero me pareció que estaba limpio y bien equipadas para que la gente pueda sentarse y esperar a sus órdenes. Recomendado

Regularly use this Chinese. The food is always fresh and hot when delivered. The lady on the phone is nice and polite. Good prices and the happy meals are great value for money.

I've tried other Chinese takeaways in Portsmouth but keep coming back to China House as the food is the best in my opinion and delivery is usually pretty quick. The 5* hygiene rating is a bonus too !

Gave this place a try due to the fact it had a 5* food hygiene rating and it did not disappoint! Had the set meal for one (which is enough for 2) which included egg fried rice, large pancake roll, beef and green pepper in black bean sauce, 5 chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce! Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh! Will not be going anywhere else for my takeaways!! Highly recommend

Tried many Chinese takeaways in Portsmouth and China House is by far the best I have tried. We go for the tofu in black bean sauce and it is always full to top of container with plenty of pieces of tofu and always piping hot. Happy to make changes to dishes if you ask also, and without fail have your food ready in 15 minutes if you collect it, as well as having a speedy delivery service too. The takeaway always looks immaculate when you go to collect and they are one of only a few takeaways in the area who currently have a 5 star hygiene rating with the city council. If we try any other Chinese takeaways we are always just disappointed as it doesn't compare to China House!

It's a take away. But you can ask for extra things like nuts. Not get charged. You can ask for your dish to be swished with extra ginger. No problem. Perfect way to end a week

Best Chinese takeaway in Portsmouth. Only downside is that it is so popular that there can be a wait for delivery
