I recently dined at Chettinad Restaurant and had a fantastic experience from start to finish, the ambience was very warm and welcoming The food was absolutely lovely and the staff was very helpful and friendly, highly recommend for both food and hospitality

Been to chettinad yesterday with my family and had a wonderful experience, got a very warm welcome and got seated in a lovely calm table, the overall decor and ambience was very nice. We had the meat platter which was very delicious and the biriyani was absolutely outstanding, perfectly spiced, every bite of the biriyani had the essence of authentic chettinad cooking, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the suggestions definitely will be back soon

I have ordered dinner yesterday the food was horrible not at all good completely waste of money and yuck 🤮 how come you can charge this much amount for such horrible food lamb kothu parotta was horrible very dry the meat was with no spice and hard parotta was dry I don’t know how you expect someone to eat this food I threw the kothu parotta couldn’t eat more than one mouth very bad and it was a huge disappointment

One of the best curries I’ve ever had!

came here with great expectation from a previous restaurant visit with the same name in a different city,and the food was okayish but later we had upset stomach and runny stools for 3-4days and it took a week to recover our normal strength back.I think the tapioca dish and fish curry might have been well aged in the deep freeze and reheated on the day,hope they will improve their practises!never setting the foot their again though.

An Incredible Dining Experience at Chettinad Restaurant! I recently visited Chettinad Restaurant with my friends, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience! We tried a variety of dishes, including Chicken Kothu, Chattichoru, and Kappa Biryani – all of which were absolutely amazing. The flavours were authentic and rich, taking us straight to the heart of South Indian cuisine. One of my friends had Porotta with Lamb Madras, and it was bursting with bold, delicious flavours. We also tried their drinks – Febito, Traffic Light, and Mango Lassi – each one was refreshing and unique in its own way. The dessert section was just as impressive! We had ice cream, the Chettinad Surprise, and Payasam – a perfect sweet ending to our meal. What made our visit even more special was the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They took the time to explain the ingredients in each dish, which was super helpful as one of us has allergies. Their hospitality truly stood out. Nice experience, nice ambience, good service. Half an hour take to get the food. Recommended food is kallapam , coconut chicken curry, meen curry, Kappa, starter s prawns fry .

Fantastic food and friendly service and great value

On a recent visit to Chettinad Restaurant with a party of eight, we encountered some notable issues with the food quality and portion sizes. The plain dosa, in particular, was disappointing; it was not crispy as expected and had a burnt dosa. This affected our overall dining experience. However, aside from this, the rest of the offerings were above average. While the restaurant has potential, there is certainly room for improvement, especially concerning portion sizes and the preparation of some dishes.

My order never arrive even tho it showed delivered. Where i dont know but definitely not to me.

The Chettinad restaurant is decent overall, but the prices are on the higher side. I really enjoyed the masala dosa—it was flavorful and well-prepared. However, the porotta and chicken curry felt quite average and didn’t justify the price.

Came here for my Mom's birthday as a group and had such a great meal. That atmosphere was so welcoming and homely. True food from the soul. Left with full stomachs and leftovers too, would definitely recommend for an authentic experience

We went to Chettinads to celebrate a milestone birthday of my son's, on his request. The staff and ambience was lovely; professional but authentic, relaxed and passionate about the Southern Indian Cuisine served. Couldn't recommend it more. I had vegan thali. The waiter didn't flinch when I asked for the vegan version of the vegetable thali; which gave me confidence in my choice, and the flavours were a sensory delight.

I just went there with family…. The restaurant environment is such a peaceful. Even staff is so kind and helpful. And about the food it’s amazing place to visit. You will not regret to go there and will go always. Appreciate their efforts to give customers good experience….

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this place. The service was excellent, and the portions were generous. However, parking was a challenge—it took some time to find a spot, and it was paid parking. Despite that, I highly recommend this spot, especially for authentic South Indian cuisine.

Great food, Chettinad curry was fantastic, although tomato rice was overcooked and soggy. The waiting staff not very attentive and the food took 45 minutes to arrive even though we were the only table in the restaurant…

Very good food and service. Prawn dosa was something new and unique for me and I must say that I wasn't betrayed for trusting it out. Rest other foods were also as good and equal.

Food is incredible. Masala Dosas are amazing and all the different dosas are great. Curries, the seafood, the everything is just great, and for the price is out of this world. A lot of the menu is prohibitively hot! I say this as someone who likes hot food. The service is good but sometimes at the end of the meal it takes a while to get the bill, depending on where you’re seated. But they’re all very nice. Can feel a bit dead when it’s quiet. But would recommend for the quality of the food at the price. The beer is good too.

Food taste is not that good… it’s not fresh and had a little foul aroma. Not happy

Service and food could be better. Ordered dosa (South Indian pancakes, crispy) it was good but the chutney and the samber ( lentils) were bland. The lentil dish was so watery and had no flavour. Had to wait at least half an hour to get our starters.

Extremely luxurious experience, the food just metls into your mouth plus its not even expensive. Very kind staff they keep checking on you once in a while to make sure you are doing okay or need anything. Perfect place for family/friends get-together. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel like you're dinning in a high-class restaurant

Worst chattichore I have ever tried , not worth for money , the dishes were too less And you guys charged too much money for it .

They don’t serve real Chettinad biryani, they serve tomato rice with meat garnish. Watch out.

We arrived early Saturday evening without a reservation, and although the place was packed, we were quickly found a table. As others have mentioned,lovely food and friendly service .

Avoid at All Costs This place is an absolute disgrace to Chettinad cuisine. We ordered drinks, and they couldn’t even get that right – all we got was water! The starters were a joke; we ordered seven different dishes, and every single one was a disaster. Drenched in food colouring with zero authentic flavour – none of it resembled Chettinad food in the slightest. Moving on to the mains, it only got worse. We ordered chapati and got served store-bought “elephant atta” chapatis. And the curries? Completely unrecognizable – we couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be mutton or beef, and the taste was horrendous. The kothu parotta was simply chunks of parotta drowned in some lamb gravy that smelled so bad we couldn’t stomach it. We ended up paying £260 for this nightmare. If you’re looking for terrible food and a complete waste of money, by all means, go here. Otherwise, avoid this place like the plague

Absolutely amazing food! It was my first time trying South Indian food and it didn’t disappoint! I would highly recommend! As for the starter, we got the Kolli Dosa. As for the main, we got the Chicken Mappas with Coconut Rice and Kallapan bread!

Got recommended this restaurant ahead of going to a concert at De Mondfort Hall. Very accommodating, let us sit where we liked for ease of room. Drinks got a little muddled but no big deal. Staff were very friendly. The food was very good and had plenty that you don't always see elsewhere. It was also very reasonably priced. Lovely décor and atmosphere. Bill was fetched swiftly which was always appreciated when other appointments. Will be going again.

Good service late on an empty Thursday night. The food was good, *but* quite hot. The 'tomato rice', for instance ('Steam rice mixed with South Indian tomato masala sauce.') was good quality, but from that description, there's no indication that it's as hot as a b4stud. Likewise, the Chettinadu Kolli, which was nicely-cooked chicken in a greeney/grey thin sauce was pretty hot. No indication of that - and no attempt made by service to describe or enquire about our preferences.

Some of the food is really authentic however the service is extremely slow and atmosphere is lacking. There are so many better restaurants in Leicester. If you’re treating yourselves go somewhere else!

We visited Chettinad very early evening for pre concert meal. We thought the service to be polite but almost too reserved. We weren't revisited to ask about desserts or hot drinks until too late to order. The food was excellent but a little more proactive service would be good. It didn’t help that our table was not visible from the service area.

Something has changed or it’s overrated. Everything was below average. The place definitely needs a clean up, very poor hygiene from stained cutlery, sticky menus and smelly dirty toilets. The food is average. There are many other good South Indian places. Wine came warm probably was stored next to light or fridge. Chicken curry the chicken tasted stale & hard. I have to say the starter prawns was amazing and the aubergine was good with the main course.

Had a good onam sadya delivered at my door

During the Onam season, Chettinad Restaurant offers a traditional Onam Sadhya that is a delightful feast. Was disappointed with the service which was slow and disorganised We were a party of 15, and had no dedicated wait staff, starters came out in peace meals and were cold and not of a high enough quality to justify the wait Mains were OK, but I would expect better from a specialist south Indian restaurant. The dosa was not crispy despite being dark brown, the filling had very little flavour and was quite bland. Drinks were the best thing on the menu

Not your typical menu but all the better for it. The Dosas are lovely, the curries tasty and some of the best biryanis I have ever had, surprisingly spicy. The Parathas are amazing. Excellent value for money.

We visited this restaurant in June 2024 for my nephew's first holy communion reception. A table was booked in advance to dine in for a party of 14. The decor was nice, the staff were polite but the service was slow. Our order arrived at different stages, with some of our party half way through their meal before the rest of the food arrived. 3 of us ordered the mixed seafood which was extremely disappointing. When this arrived it looked like the fishermen did not have a successful catch that day. The expectation was a healthy mix with a generous portion of mixed seafood, what we were served was rationed to 2 prawns, 3 pieces of tiny squid and 4 pieces of stock cubed tiny sized fish swimming in sauce. I asked one of the waitresses why there was such a poor assortment and minimal portion of seafood and was informed that is how the dish is served. We also complained to the manager but received the same response. The mistake made is that the dish was not returned, which it should have been. Although the sauce was tasty, we couldn't get pass the absence of seafood. Needless to say I will not be eating at this restaurant again.

For Authentic South Indian food!!

This was our revisit to the restaurant. For Wednesday evening it was very busy. The staffs were friendly and welcoming. But the service was slow and disorganised. The quality of food was NOT there during our visit (compare to our previous visit). The Chapati was not freshly made (I think). The Cobra lager was good and at reasonable price £4.49 a pint. The atmosphere was very good, The toilet facilities were nice and clean. Overall it was an average dining experience. We will not returning here in a hurry.

Lovely flavours but not hot enough

Definitely avoid! The atmosphere was bland though the service was good. The food however was horrible. 6 of us in the group each had the mix seafood and it was probably one persons fish which was chopped up into tiny bits and each person got two bits slightly bigger than the size of a dice. It was in the most watery curry and two minute squid rings and two tiger prawns. The biryani and kolli however were good but I’ve had better in more than enough Indian restaurants. We complained to the girl when she served the food and she said that’s how it is. The manager at the end of the day said we should have complained to him! Got a £20 voucher as a gesture of goodwill but they know we will never set foot in there ever again. The food was terrible!

Went here Friday night for dinner and was really impressed. The food was absolutely delicious especially the chicken dosa and Mappas curry we had. Service was good can't fault anything will definitely be back.
