Visited The Cherry Tree with 3 friends on Tuesday. we each had our vans/motorhomes with us, so phoned ahead. Such a friendly and welcoming pub. Julie and Roger are great hosts - Julie also cooked us fabulous food. Dog friendly too! We will visit again. Thank you Julie and Roger!

What a lovely suprise. Popped in for a drink as not been in here for about 15 years. Soon as I walked in I was greeted by the charming landlady. After I got my drink we had a lovely chat about all sorts. Also met the landlord a very interesting gentlemen that has as well as his wife been running the pub for over 20 years. The cherry tree has the feeling of a real pub a proper community village pub unlike a lot of the modern pubs these days. I will definitely go back and hopefully try the Sunday roast. It made my day.

The Cherry Tree Inn in Wymondham is just what you'd expect from a classic pub - cozy, welcoming, and full of character. The staff are friendly, the drinks are top-notch, and the food hits the spot. It's definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the area! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an absolute gem, fantastic atmosphere, food is excellent due to the amazing land lady, epic! Atmosphere in this pub is great, due to the owners having such and inclusive attitude and embracing everyone . I saw some reviews from some guy called Reuben who is clearly deranged and in no way representative in any way!!! I would encourage anyone to visit this excellent pub and meet the great owners and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere 😃

I've been here a few times and the atmosphere is completely wrecked by the landlords constantly nagging on about someone who regularly drives past the pub called ruben cherry who used to be a customer there that they don't like. Im not sure what the issue was with with him and the pub. Well, recently this individual drove past and I was sick of hearing about him. Oh OVER THERE LOOK THERE HE IS THERE HE IS driving past " getting themselves worked up on the verge of a mental breakdown by both of the landlords . I just felt like saying SO WHAT JUST GET OVER IT WHO CARES!!. The two landlords just seem like someone that can hold a grudge or two and i mean grudge which is a shame. The drinks are alright but this obsession about whining on about ruben cherry is depressing. It doesn't do the atmosphere any good. Shan't be going back.

The Cherry Tree is an absolute "Gem" a real old fashioned Pub with great Real Ales lovely Pub Food of very generous portions. Amazing Ribeye Steaks cooked to perfection served with home made Onion Rings, Mushrooms, Peas, Chips, Tomato and garnish. The Ale is from the "wood" and not from the handpump and was in superb condition and at room temperature which is my preference. The Landlord Roger is a brewer and a real character who does things his own way, safe to say not everyone will find it the experience we did but you must try it to decide for yourself, our verdict is a big yes and we are off to lunch there this afternoon. There is probably no other Pub like it for 50 miles, give it go for a quintessentiel English Pub experience as it used to be.

I cannot explain my shock at being forced to vomit after smelling urine, dirty socks and stale beer on the bar reception. The owner Julie falsely claimed that the horrendous smell came from a passing farm truck. She then sneezed in my face while my wife shrieked and gasped. Yuck, stay away.

The place was full of flies and gave myself and my party a very questionable view of the place but we thought hey ho let’s get on with it, the staff I found was very pretentious and didn’t seemed like he cared about his business, baring in mind this was a Tuesday night and the landlord just seemed to appeared from nowhere looking very drunk we thought we’d pop in for the jam session, I was very much looking forward to having a good strum along with everyone else but the mood was soon ruined by the lack of people who actually attended and how the landlord himself came across as, however, if he wasn’t drinking I’m sure he could’ve been a very different person. I personally shall not be returning. If I could rate my experience lower than one star I would.

The landlady, was extremely rude when I asked for a drink, she shouted 'can you not see im busy?', I waited for Roger patiently and he was very kind and served me. My girlfriend after went up to get a drink from the land lady and she shouted at her saying 'I ALREADY TOLD YOU BITCH THAT I'M BUSY'. After that we instantly left. Toilets were also very disgusting, needs a clean. Workers there have no effort and make you feel unwelcomed , and sigh when you ask them for making things just as small as chips. This wasn't aimed at roger at all i feel bad for him.

This was a filthy place with flies everywhere. I almost vomitted after smelling stinking toilets with the doors open right by the bar. Flies are everywhere making a nuisance of themselves around your pint. The Batwoman Julie was sneezing her head off making us both more sick, coughing and blowing her nose heavily all around the bar area while trying to drink and we were both glad to get out of there. Avoid avoid.

The service was lacking, the whole place looked as clean as an abattoir 5 minutes after killing. The staff seemed downtrodden and lacking in motivation. No service with a smile. The owner was crass, seriously offensive, got in our personal space and was just a horrible host The owner gives the lecherous vibe and I suggest nobody goes to this place if wanting a nice evening. The lager wasn't too bad but the ales according to friends were not looked after. It's a shame because it does look like a nice pub but really spoilt by the management.

A party of 4 of us, staying locally in Hackford on holiday made a trip to the Cherry Tree for a drink on a nice evening, Monday 25th July. I can't comment on drinks or food as the owner decided to close early, with no explanation given - we arrived at 7.30pm and were told they were closing. Luckily, we were not hoping to eat, otherwise we would have been left hungry. We were disappointed as we had walked 20 minutes especially to use the local pub, but at least the walk was pleasant. People at the bar (presumably locals) seemed nice and made an effort to apologise on behalf of the owner, although they did not seem to know why he was closing. The owner seemed uncomfortable, like a man who had given up. Perhaps he was tired, I'll never know. He seemed to be enjoying his food behind the bar as we left, whilst his customer swore at him for having to stick up for his business. I can't comment more than that as we were not on the premises long enough, but it seemed alright. No doubt we would have contemplated a few visits throughout the week but, not feeling very welcomed, won't be trying again.

The staff are it has to be admitted relatively friendly but i cannot figure out why dirty glasses are used to serve people ! Iv'e given an extra star due to the polite staff but what on earth are flies doing buzzing around in clans in the middle of february ? A bottle of disinfectant and a nice juicy wet sponge would not go amiss here but if you have the immune system of a brown sewer rat or an elderly and experienced house fly, the hygiene conditions may not bother you at this place. Staff !! Lets put the energy into standing around and chatting life stories to customers into keeping the place clean and safe ! Being friendly and chatty is just not enough im afraid and clean enviroment is important.

Our party of four booked for a Sunday roast after our grandsons rugby match. Cold and damp we arrived and were greeted warmly by the lovely host Julie. On offer was a choice of three roast meats with all trimmings with addition of a vegetarian option. The food was all freshly cooked to perfection and very generous portions. We were also offered a variety of condiments and sauces to accompany the meal. The cauliflower cheese was so tasty. Our guests, well versed at eating out, were most impressed. This is a good old fashioned pub, not one of the countless new soul less establishments with shiny contemporary fitments but no atmosphere. Quirky uneven bar, wooden tables and chairs, an old piano against the wall all add to the delights of a country pub run by a wonderfully unique couple. Julie is a kind and caring lady and certainly does not deserve the malicious tirade of abuse by a certain individual on this site, blatantly obvious by his choice of names and profile pictures along with his immediately recognisable diction and phraseology. Try for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Excellent food, good value and portion sizes to satisfy the hungriest appetite.

I bought 6 pints due to my inherited weight disorder only to be sick later all evening by way of heavy vomiting ( this was the worst £ 27 that I have ever spent ! ). The bar lady Julie was pretty chatty though and spoke to me about her trip a number of years ago to Nigeria whereby she was kidnapped by 8 Somalian pirates who then decided to let her go after she sang " Kylie " to them on the third night. Her husband was apparantly busy at the local Safari on a tour guide watching the lions which I found entertaining though chemical like beer has to be rectified. Roger the other owner was chatty too despite him being locked in the store room cupboard as the keys were lost for most of the time that I was there ( just over an 2 hours 10 minutes). A few heavy duty chairs for big and large people would be handy too as I was forced to sit on a cold metal chair that was brought in especially for me from the out side- due to the bar stools being to flimsy to hold its 33 stone customers like myself. The bar lady's flatulence and burping was a bit of a put off too if I'm to be blunt.

Passing with my wife in the car, we decided that due to lock down we could sit outside and drink sealed bottles. While we were waiting on the garden benches outside, the bar lady Julie came rushing out aggressively ranting " no no we haven't got bottles so you'll have to make do with pints " before sneezing all over her left shoulder. The barman Roger then came out and shouted at her that she should respect our wishes to have bottled drinks if that was what we had asked for to which she then yelled " what do you want me to do about it....if we haven't got any bottles we haven't got any bottles....stop being awkward....I've poured them pints now it's all the same thing ". Shocked, we had no choice but to sip what tasted like paint remover even though we requested specifically sealed bottles. Julie then rushed to the perimeter of the garden on the drive and started to cough up ferociously to try to clear up her airwaves. We left our drinks and just read some papers that we had bought as we were both afraid of becoming ill again. The one extra star given here was due to the barman Rogers support to us on our rights to be served properly and accurately. Once again let down and this really is the last for us both this time.

Me and my girlfriend chose this place because of its nice spot but quickly noticed that the insides could do with a good spring clean. The barman Roger is very friendly and we chatted about the coal industry for quite some time but the flies and rotten toilets cannot go unoticed. Roger kindly changed my beer twice after some unknown taste was in it that was not pleasant. The barman's wife doesn't seem as friendly as him and seems unusually abrupt and snappy making it difficult to maintain any type of conversation with her. When my wife said that it was nice outside today for the time of year she snapped " well......it depends on what you call nice doesn't it " before storming off in a semi aggressive manner. The ladies toilets are apparantly just as bad as the men's with broken toilet seats, crumbling tiles and an obvious unhygienic smell. In the men's there are buckets underneath broken pipes doing their obvious jobs of catching certain types of liquid which doesn't really mix well with having a nice quite drink. We left after one and couldn't really have stayed there even if we had wanted too.

I came here for a drink in my specially adapted vehicle that has been redesigned for the morbidly obese after suffering much discrimination in my home town of Norwich. After pulling up in the car park a woman who happened to be the owner Julie stood and stared at me in the car park with her hands on her hips and said " oh my God....your big aren't you....how many chairs do you want?? well...we havent had someone your size in before....you'll have to sit on the post by the door because of your big stomach ". I explained that it was not my fault that I was large and that it " ran in my genes " to which she then replied " well....I don't even know if your a man or a woman....what are you ?" I then explained that I was a " post op transexual " and had received much discrimination in my life. She then snapped " oh... we welcome all sorts here what do you want ? " before bursting out laughing and running in a back room in a hysterical frenzy. She then proceeded to come out with a lemonade and started taking pictures of me and said " do you mind me photographing you " even though she had already started taking photos.I then pointed out that the cat was defecating in the pub behind a table to which she responded " well that's the least of your worries...we always clean up after the cats ".The place stank musty and the table was wobbling about all over the place on dodgy legs. £3.40 for a glass of lemonade was the most that I have ever paid and I'm sure she took me for a ride on that.I did manage to get to a toilet but couldn't get through the door because it was wedged half shut so had to force it open to which Julie came running and shouted " oiii...what are you doing...that's criminal damage..you'll have to pay for that " though as she shocked me by creeping up behind me, I tripped and fell directly onto the dressing table causing it to break. She then ejected me and told me that I was never allowed to go there again and threw my spare walking stick on the pebbles out the front. Getting out through the narrow front door was a nightmare and I was glad to get out of the stinky place. With cat poo on the pub floors and musty smells and a £3.40 glass if lemonade I was happy to get out of there.A rubbish run down place that discriminates against the gay community.

On driving past the pub from the local co-op one afternoon, I couldn't help but notice a large black board placed prominently outside the Cherry Tree stating " we do do food deliveries too! " alongside the telephone number. On stopping in the car park and popping into the reception, the barwoman arrived and snapped before I could even get a word in edgeways " I can't get you anything we're not open... I can do you a delivery and that's all....that's all I can do for you....what is it that you want? ". It was almost so dramatic as a court- room drama!!I then ordered a Sunday roast to which she snapped " it can't be delivered until 5ish because we're so busy and you've left it late...hang on please I'll check " ( the time was incidentally 13.35).I was shocked to receive a delivery from a scruffy bearded man at 16.45 with grey dreadlocks who was smoking a cigar and frankly, stank. He appeared to be under a strange influence of some type of intoxicant and was giggling to himself hysterically and asked how I was before saying that he was " going back for a few drinks because there was fxxx all else to do because of the Coronavirus ".On opening my meal I was shocked to find cold wobbly jelly gravy, rock hard carrots and a large piece of beef that was so overcooked that it would have broken the teeth of an Alaskan Brown Bear! Worse still were small white hairs in the gravy ( I counted 4) and equally rock hard undercooked peas. I immediately rang the Cherry Tree only to be told by Julie that she " would have a word with the chef in the morning as he has gone home now and had been acting strangely all morning turning the taps on and off in the kitchen for no apparent reason and swearing at himself quietly ". No apology was given and she was keen to end the phone call quickly and said that " she would get back to me in the morning " before slamming the phone down with not a further word said. I did find perfect use for my meal though that was sadly, my compost bin. I found that this meal would have rivalled the Coronavirus in dangerousness and I would not recommend eating from here if food safety standards are of a concern to you.

I have been here 3 times now and will not be going back.On my first visit both owners seemed cautious and falsely positive, while strutting in a somewhat frustrated way leaving me feel a bit confused about the true feel of the place. On my second visit on a Sunday afternoon, nobody was in the entire bar and after a 5 minute wait at the bar, the barman came running over and said in a agitated state " were closing early because nobody has been in all afternoon hardly, we can't stay open when business is out can we, what do you think we are here-- why would we be open when nobody is coming in?) He then huffed heavily and swiftly apologised and said that it was stressful when it was like this and he didn't mean to be rude, and that " he isn't usually like that ".I went back for a third time on the following Thursday and entered to find the barman's wife Julie arguing that she was " ripped off " by the pest control services as she had found holes in the cavity walls where mice were still getting in small holes behind the freezer despite her payin over £155 in poison and callout charges. The barman Roger screamed at her to "get over it "as she would never be able to prove that he was negligent in his work and that " mice were everywhere anyway and are not like rats so why worry about it ". Julie then shouted that she couldn't be worrying about tiny mice running around the place while Roger then screamed purple faced " oh will you shut up because I'm going to bed...I've had enough of you....who hasn't had mice? so what.....just lock the cat in the fuxxxng kitchen that'll be cheaper and shut you up ". He then stood up and shouted angrily " everyone drink your drinks sorry about this I can't fuxxing take it any more and am going to bed before slamming his newspaper onto the bar and storming into the kitchen. The 6 other people swiftly left while both owners were shouting at each other in the kitchen before Julie stormed out and blasted " oh your still here are you everyone else has gone....come on were closing we're not staying open just for you " despite it only being 3.40 pm. My final judgement is that a self proclaimed mice infested place with staff that have clear attitude problems is a place that does not deserve good judgement and is not a fit place. On a separate note, the pints of lager are unusually watered down and extremely overpriced at £4.10 per pint while filled at just over 3/4s full. Unless you are partial to mice infestations in food preparation areas and staff that have huge chips on their shoulders, it would be impossible for me to honestly recommend this pub.Save your money for somewhere " mouse free " and where staff are not so stingy as to limit selling pints to being 3 quarters full with a quarter of a pint sized head. A shame as all of this is totally avoidable.

We had a great evening, good choice of beers and very friendly landlord ( a bit of a magician) and a landlady who cooks excellent home made food and best of all really friendly locals. Yes, it is an old fashioned pub with a bit of dust here and there but certainly it does not deserve some of the previous reviews ( all of whom make the identical spelling mistakes). As we are usually in a city and have far too many plastic pubs - we found this place so freshening and honest. Food good, toilets were old but clean and great hospitality.

When she arrived her first words weren't "hello, what can I get you" they were "I'm not doing sunday dinners for you, its too late, I'm not doing it, I'd have to start peeling potatoes and all sorts - you didn't book - I'm not a carvery, if you want a carvery you can go somewhere else." Needless to say, we packed up and left and had a lovely mean at the The Railway in Wymondham where were were made to feel welcome and definitely no an inconvenience. Went with my girlfriend and was welcomed by the barwoman who seemed to be boasting that she had worms after eating undercooked meat at a festival( she is apparantly the chef here). She was winging non stop about just about every calamity you can imagine and doesn't seemed fazed about an abundance of flies and dusty surroundings there. We both felt mentally exhausted after leaving here, put both me and my girlfriend right off and won't be going back. The mens toilets are prehistoric and smell strongly of dried urine. There seems to be a lots of flies constantly buzzing around the place and dust is very noticable there. The pints have a strong sickly nail varnish after taste ( associated with not cleaning the barrels out properly). I barely had half of my pint then had a bottle from the fridge to overcome this.Only good place about this pub is the views across the road onto a cornfield but there are too many negatives about this place particularly with relation to very poor hygiene standards and contaminated beer to recommend it. I felt compelled by a civil duty to report the contaminated beer issue to trading standard who are currently looking into this.

Charming English pub that has a heap of character, partly due to the surrounds and Roger, the barman. Roger entertains his customers with cheeky British humour and delightful parlor tricks. The food is freshly cooked by Julie in a spotless kitchen (my wife popped into the kitchen to thank Julie). Huge servings that were so good. The chocolate pudding (Carnival Cruises has a similar signature desert) is in my opinion better than Carnivals.

Came here for a fish & chips meal and a few drinks with friends on Friday. We had a very welcoming and friendly service, tasty food that was generous in portion size. Good wine and coffee liquor! Will be back again soon.

In a beautiful location overlooking the Wymondham countryside but scruffy on the outside and quite gloomy on the inside. The Cherry Tree is popular with regulars but doesn't seem to be so welcoming to outsiders. It has a variety of it's own brewed beer on tap and makes an effort to draw customers in with various themed nights such as fish 'n' chip night, live music nights and bridge nights!

This pub is full of great characters, on both sides of the bar, who instantly made us feel welcome. As you might expect from a pub attached to a microbrewery (Buffys), the beers were superb. But for a pub that gives its beers pride of place the food was surprisingly good. We tried the pies. There is a good range from fish through to steak and kidney, including a vegetarian option. The quality was good and the portions were very generous.

Nice people, good food, good beer. They make their own beer, and seem to sell only that, which is not a problem. Well worth a visit.

Have been visiting Norfolk with my family for the last three years - at Winter, Easter and Summer time - and we always make a date (or three!) to go to The Cherry Tree in Wicklewood - the company and food are fantastic, this is a real community pub!

We have visited the pub on quite a few occasions for Sunday Lunch, as well as the special Pies which are also available on the menu most days. Sunday is a 2 course roast for 9.95. Choice of most meats depending on availability, all freshly cooked, roast spuds and Yorkshires. The cauliflower cheese is excellent. This is in a different league to the pile it high carvery restaurants which are popular but low on quality in my opinion. Choice of desserts also. Local Buffys ale is sold on draught. Friendly staff and a real local feel. Well worth a trip.

My family and I were staying nearby and had no idea where to go to eat and have a drink. We decided to try here and weren't disappointed. The lady who runs the pub; what a gem. She was so lovely and went out of her way to help us, delivering a feast to our table by the time we had all arrived (as some of our group was delayed). Everyone made us feel welcome. Price was great and fish & chip night made it even better as the cod was delicious! Well worth visiting!

Heard by word of mouth they do excellent pies and I was not disappointed. Homemade pies in loads of different flavours, with golden crispy pastry. The pies were excellent, served with a variety of vegetables, potatoes and chips! Washed down with a pint of there own brewed Buffy's blonde ale. They occasionally have event nights going on too, so certainly not a quiet pub!Great food and drink at a fantastic price, perfect spot to pop into on the way past for a drink, or for a more organised meal.

We have only lived in the area for two years but this good old English pub can't be beat and we usually find an excuse to drop in a couple of times a week. The good old art of conversation is practiced regularly by locals and visitors alike, in fact visitors are made especially welcome and are usually engaged in the combined arts of natter and noggin within minutes. Julie runs the pub and makes the meals and Roger brews the beer, you won't taste better food or drink anywhere. Don't take my word for it, go and try it for yourself. It's lunchtime on Christmas Day and we are just about to go for a pint, what could be better.Cheers

We have been visiting this pub since we moved to the area some 18 months ago. The owners of this pub offer a great welcome to everyone. My husband loves the Buffy ale which is produced in their own micro brewery. The food is fresh and tasty and cooked on the premises. There is a great selection of home cooked pies and the Sunday lunches are amazing value at £9.95 for 2 courses. There is a monthly quiz which is always well attended. Can't ask anymore from a local village pub. As a bonus dog are very welcome.

We have been to the Cherry Tree a few times, always made welcome. Its a typical small English village pub, low ceilings and beams to match with a big fire place right in the middle. The beer comes from the Buffy brewery and is a very tasty brew, the food is well prepared and theres lots of it . The monthly quiz nights are a big draw for the local comunity, well organised, and entrance fee includes a plate of sausage and chips and half the proceeds go to charity..

Definitely one to avoid now, had many lovely visits with previous owners, the welcome was poor, staff not interested, food average, restaurant was cold, staff kept leaving doors open, no thank you or goodbye, it’s fair to say our special family occasion was extremely disappointing, we will not return or recommend.
