As living locally to the chequers, I come here quite often and never have any doubts! Staff are always helpful and friendly and food is always served to a delicious standard. Would recommend.

WHAT A SHAME!!!! - The Chequers has for decades been a great place to go for a drink and meal. It has/had everything:- A lovely building, good location, big car park. On Saturday, having enjoyed club dinners here before, members of our sports club had booked for dinner for 14. It was a while before our orders were taken, then about an hour before our food was served - COLD!! So obviously, the chef(s) were able to cook everything quickly enough, but then it was left to go cold. We will not risk THAT again.

Great service and delicious food. Will definitely be returning! We wanted a cosy local pub to have a good catch up in a relaxed unrushed atmosphere and this was just perfect. Our food was hot and presented beautifully and nothing was too much trouble for the staff on duty. We stayed for much longer than expected and have already recommended to friends and family. I have been going to the Chequers for 20 years,and I was appalled by the standard of food,it was inbarassing to say the least no steaks,ribeye sirloin no eggs,peas,mix grill was terrible dry . The waitresses where so apologizing and seemed very emotional about the standards. When you had amazing seafood and great specials board it was a place to go to,now it's become quite bland ,what a SHAME Steak picture of Medium rare second attempt Rump so tough.

The food at the Chequers is always good and well presented. Our waitresses were Daisy & Lucy who were helpful and very friendly. The food was delicious, we ordered the fish grill & the game grill.

Enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent, love eating here, one of my favourite places. Local to me and always receive a lovely warm welcome 🤗

My sister and I visited her here whilst waiting for her car to be MOT'd just down the road. We cant praise them enough. Excellent greeting, showed to our table and drinks order taken straight away, and delivered to the table in the next breath. Food order taken shortly after and starter was on the table within 10 mins. Starter was well cooked and very hot and well presented. The only criticism we have is that if something is a sharer, why have odd number of items I.e pieces of bread, pieces of chicken etc. Our mains came out very shortly afterwards again, very well presented and very hot and clearly freshly cooked. Overall a very good experience from entrance to leaving. Thank you.

If you want great pub food at a reasonable price and with good service, then look no further. I had a very tasty scampi and chips followed by a superb toffee cheesecake. I was "persuaded" to go for this cheesecake by the waitress and she was not wrong. It was indulgent but one of the best cheesecakes I've tasted. I would recommend the Chequers every time.

We’ve been meeting up with friends at The Chequers Redbourn for lunch over many years and from being a vibrant and busy restaurant, since lockdown it has become less frequented which is a shame. Longer waiting times for food has become the norm which probably reflects the difficulty of employing staff in general. Sadly our last visit today only had one member of staff (Joe) who not only greeted us, showed us to our table, took our order and for all we know might have cooked our meals. Whilst the standard of food was slightly average, the experience was improved by the excellent Joe who could not of done any more in providing a professional and enjoyable service. About an hour in to our visit a second waiter was seen and the manager made an appearance in serving our deserts and providing the final bill. The 3 staff including the manager all seemed polite and courteous and probably deserve to be working at a higher quality of restaurant where their personal efforts would be appreciated

I totally agree with Ben M on what he said in his review. Like Ben we have visited many times but unfortunately we won't be going back.

We have eaten here plenty of times in the past but haven't been for about a year. Food used to be pretty good and was always consistent, even if not the best. This visit was a different story. Everything was so dire. I've included a photo of the garlic and cheese ciabatta which was just a bit of bread with a slab of cheep cheddar barely melted on it and tasted nothing like garlic. Look how pathetic it is. They're charging £3.50 for that and the rest of the food was about as sad looking. Honestly I can't reccomend anyone eat here. Staff were so slow, they were basically going in reverse. It was all really bad. Very disappointed as we had talked it up to our family from past visits.
