Didn't stay. Just popped in for lunch. Lovely fish and chips and had a refreshing real ale and ginger beer shandy. Excellent, friendly service. Happily go back again when next in Marlow. Thank you. 👍🙂

My friend and I dined here for my birthday , absolutely the best steak ever! Often have a drink here but don't often eat here. What made it such a lovely experience was the lady who served us! Absolutely excellent service! I wish I could remember her name.She said she was originally from Romania, she made our night! First class service! Thankyou sooo much.

Perfect location in Marlow. Great food, fantastic and attentive customer service. I also had a coworkers leaving drinks in the Churchill Tap and it was one of the best nights! We had our own private bar and the buffet food came out timely and delicious too! The pub has a really warm and cosy feel to it which just leaves you feeling you want to spend more time there. Definitely recommend this pub for anyone visiting Marlow. Thanks to the Chequers Team for always looking after us.

I visited The Chequers in Marlow yesterday with my mum, and we had a fantastic experience. We both had a pie, and the food was absolutely delicious—clearly made fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend.

And again...I love this pub, technically is my local but I don't consider it so, it is a rather special, informal, soul warming place for me. Went there for a leaving lunch...?? I know. Oana was our super brilliant host, great lunch from tip to toe with accommodating, friendly people and great food too. What is not to like. I do recommend it to anyone I know. It deserves another visit soon.

Thanks to all the staff at the Chequers - we had a wonderful birthday celebration for my father's 80th. The private room that was available made the meal even more special. The relaxed atmosphere meant that we could remain chatting with old friends over good food and wine for 4 hours.

Me and my husband decided to have lunch here on Valentines day before we headed to our nearby hotel. Initially we were disappointed because the online menu differed to the menus we were handed (no chateaubriand or chorizo and king prawn pasta) but we are very glad we decided to stay! Friendly service all throughout our visit. I started with the mackerel pate which was absolutely delicious and my husband went for the ribs. He loved them. I followed with the fishcakes- and even though they had the most unusual texture (very firm, like a thai style one but much, much bigger) I thought they were so yummy! My husband enjoyed his steak and ale pie and the fries were some of the crispiest fries we have ever had! Brilliant time was had, thank you :-)

Pulled into town for a catch-up with some old university friends, one of whom has since settled down here and started some really interesting businesses. But upon his suggestion the four of us crowded round a table at the Chequers, and boy did it not disappoint. The starters were sublime, but the two sharing steaks that we got between us, the Chateaubriand and the Porterhouse, stole the show. Can't remember the last time I had a steak that good. And there were two of them! Waiting staff topped it all off by being attentive, funny, and down to earth. Can't recommend the spot more (it's not cheap, but then class rarely is).

Wow. Blew my bloody socks off this place. Excellent food and drink, served by the sweetest people. If I could go every day I would. Well worth a visit.

Called in on the off chance we could order a meal and sit inside in the bar with.our dog. The staff were so friendly and water and dog biscuits aplenty for our calamine pals. Food fresh, cooked hot and very tasty. Will recommend AND visit again next time we're in the area. Xx

We had a superb Sunday lunch served by Dana.

Pre meal everything went well. I had the need to change numbers and time and it was all handled well. We were given a side room which, for a large party, was excellent. Out of the way, troubling no one and very safe to leave bags and coats behind us etc. Service was good with plenty of people helping. But the issue was the food. The mains dish I had, and others also, was completely and utterly tasteless. It was also a mess. A roast with a smattering of veg with not enough gravy was in contrast to my sons that was swimming in gravy. It was awful. Have some pride guys. You may have large party in, who may not come again but for a professional kitchen it was shameful. A roast dinner is not the most complicated dish for any kitchen and it would take very little effort to improve it. They either couldn’t be bothered or ….. they couldn’t be bothered. Because I can’t believe anywhere with a varied menu would be producing food this poor. So there really was no excuse. We won’t be coming again, but I suspect as we all travelled some distance, you either knew that and just simply took our money, or you had the reserve team in. If you did, the transfer window opens in January.

Fergus, Justin, Cillian and Beth provided a fantastic service on our lunch visit. Their professionalism and attention made our stay fabulous. The food was outstanding; served hot despite having two larger groups to attend to. The food would honestly blow Kerridges out of the water!!! Overall, bloody brilliant time had by my friends and I. Would recommend completely!!!

Toilet seat had a crack in the seat. Also wasn't fitted down properly, so moved about when you sat on it. Rooms tidy and bed really comfortable .

Lovely Sunday roast; choice of chicken, beef, pork, lamb and children’s roasts available in a smaller size for kids. Excellent service.

This is my favourite pub in Marlow. The management and staff here go above and beyond, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food and drink are consistently top-notch, making each visit a delight. With the new leadership, the pub has retained its charm and continues to thrive as the local gem it is. Even though there are more options in town, this place remains my top choice and true local!

Took a chance as had not been here before and booked a family birthday lunch last weekend. The service was fantastic (Hugo did a superb job looking after our table of 11) Nothing was too much trouble and he did everything with a smile. The food was great, tasty and hot!! I think everyone cleared their plates, which with a few fussy eaters talks volumes. Will definitely be returning. Thank You The Chequers.

We were a large group of 11 and our server, Hugo, dealt with us professionally and skilfully - especially given a few special requests. Hugo took everything in his stride, delivering a high quality dining experience - which was unexpected from a high street pub style dining venue. Great food (especially the filet steak and sirloin steaks - all perfectly served medium and medium rare as requested – and the chinky chips ver super hot and delicious). Well done kitchen team. The food arrived hot and was surprisingly tasty and well cooked. Several of our party had chicken and lamb roasts which were amazing. We are Marlow locals (since 2000) and we will definitely be returning. I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover and try this popular place.

Staff generally not very interested in you at all. Poor service

Updated: The manager reached out apologised, agreed this was unacceptable and refunded in full so in fairness will give it another try as hopefully an isolated issue with their supplier. Original review: How standards have fallen. Used to be on par with gaucho or Hawksmoor......struggling to compete with pub steak. Tough, chewy poor quality meat for £80 is just not good enough.

Such lovely food and service really would recommend it

Went for a meal Squid was nice but over priced for the portion you receive. Fillet steak was very nice perfectly cooked. Unfortunately dessert of Banoffee sundae was one of the worst desserts I've ever eaten and should be removed from the menu some dry hard to eat granola ( raisens that were hard as stone) with ice cream and two slices of banana. Stay well clear of this dessert. Otherwise everyone enjoyed their food and service was top notch.

A lovely place to stay we had the signature room comfy with a great shower and you get a parking space behind the pub. The food was fantastic and The Churchill Tap( part of the chequers) is a great starter for an evening. There is also live music on a Friday which was great, we started our weekend in Marlow here and feel we hit the jackpot

Food was very nice, did take a bit of time for arrival, after main course, didn't really see any staff about and certainly no one came up and asked if we were ready for dessert, so we paid and got an ice cream from the ice cream parlour on the high Street.

I had fillet steak which was gorgeous and asked for a red wine sauce which wasn’t on the menu but was delicious. My partner had the burger which was very disappointing and was just like a frozen Birdseye burger.

The best spot possible on marlow high street for people watching, The beers are cold, the food is great and the staff very very nice.

Family lunch in their rear restaurant area. Smart pub with reasonable menu and drinks choices. Everyone was happy with their food, and their ability to handle a couple of dietary requirements. Only grumble was the service was a little slow considering how quiet it was.

Terrible experience,Staff rude,Manager i think ( guy with big belly ) rude. sunday roast trio of meats was a joke,Overpriced,Tiny portions,Potatos soggy. service shocking. I could go on and on.I eat out every sunday for a roast dinner,This is one of the worst . Also woke up with dodgy tummies the next day, 3 out of 4 of us

A very noisy, fun boozer, right in the middle of the high street, good fun and nice people, check it out.

Nice staff but food is drastically overpriced for the average quality. Drinks are also super pricey - more expensive than many central London pubs. £7.50 for an ipa. Used to be a great local spot. Now it’s an expensive tourist trap with few local patrons.

Enjoyed the Chequers. The room was quite nice not exactly the Waldorf but perfectly comfortable. Oddly lacking a luggage rack. My room overlooked the high street but quieted down nicely in the late evening. Staff was super helpful and the breakfast was good.

2 glasses of wine £28.50, £17.50 for the rosé! Very nice but breathtakingly expensive 🥺. Check the price before you order there are cheaper options😆.

In Marlow overnight and ate dinner here . It was so good we went back for breakfast the next morning . Good prices and good food and friendly staff. A nice spot on the high street .

This place is horrid. Horrid drinks, horrid staff. One ginger kid, was so entitled and poured drinks horribly just overall hated the vibe and especially his service. Will not be going here EVER again!!

Stayed here for two nights on my birthday weekend. Room was a great size, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was great too. Very popular pub so always busy and great live band on the Friday night. Would highly recommend.

We had a reservation for today which I made it over the phone. When I arrived there wasn’t any reservation under my name. The staff just say sorry we can’t do anything and suggested to go despite that I told them we came from away and we were with 2 babies under 1y and obviously it wasn’t our fault and last minute it’s extremely difficult to find something else. The staff didn’t do even the bare minimum to try to accommodate us in the walk in area as clearly wasn’t our fault. Very bad customer experience and definitely I don’t recommend it to anyone.

This is the perfect place to stay in Marlow.

Stayed for one night in a King Room. The room was nicely laid out bed was comfortable and once we had put the radiator on it became nice and warm. The bathroom is big and products are lovely. They have a huge roll top bath which we enjoyed. Breakfast delicious. Staff lovely and accommodating - parking is down the side street in a little car park with limited spaces which are slightly small but the members of staff moved his car so we could fit the too large hire car we had in safely.

We had the Sunday roast and can confidently say it was the nicest roast we’ve ever had! Every part of it was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were great! Only slight let down was three of the dessert options weren’t available, but I’m sure that just shows that they’re great too😂

My wife and I stayed for three nights bed and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We also had two excellent evening meals in the restaurant. The room was lovely, as were all of the staff. We really cant fault our stay in any way. We will be back!

We stayed the night here and had breakfast the next morning room 6 was lovely until the fan for the kitchen kicked in for evening meals it shook the table and chair it was that noisy when I went down to ask what it was the manager told one of the staff it was the extractor fan in the kitchen it finally stopped at 8.50 pm got to say the bed was comfy and we were looking forward to a bit of a lie in but at 7.20 am it started again thought the manager might have had the good grace to speak to me about it would stay again but not in room 6

Great inn. Very comfortable, quiet room and bed was very comfy. Was perfect and the breakfast was superb. Definitely recommend for a decent nights stay.

Cold coffee! Thanks! Why oh why can't a decent establishment serve a hot coffee. It wasn't even luke warm. Surely in this day and age we deserve hot coffee

The staff were lovely Pub was old style and cosy. The burger was the best I have ever had in Britain. Nice garlic salt on chips. Beer was boring, generic euro trash or local possum piss. So many great micro London beers close by but not utilised here.

lovely pub and the churchill’s tap is brilliant. I would not recommend this for food or to stay. The chefs family treat it like a crèche. Kids walk in and out of the kitchen during service - who knows what they do to the food. I am surprised with the behaviour we saw it’s got a hygiene licence. It is a truly a shame that such a lovely place on marlow’s high street is let down by its own chef and his ill behaved children. Maybe we went when the day his baby sitter cancelled, even if that was the case, they shouldn’t be in and out the kitchen willy nilly - i don’t typically bring kids to work and i would assume you wouldn’t either.

Good food, good service, definitely a step up from many other pubs that profess to do a la carte food, the steaks were excellent, the wine was good and the desserts were delicious, definitely worth a punt.

J'ai dormi dans l'hôtel, charmant et fonctionnel. L'accueil, situé dans le pub, y est chaleureux. L'hôtel très bien situé au centre de cette jolie bourgade, permet de tout visiter à pied.

We walked in and weren’t greeted for around 5 minutes, we then asked if we could order some breakfast at 10:45 AM, which the waitress replied ‘not sure, you only have 15 minutes’ even though the menus outside stated breakfast was served until 11:30. We then went back outside to decide what we wanted to order, and came back in and again weren’t greeted for a while, it seemed the staff were too busy wanting to chat as it was dead empty and no one else was there to be served. She then came round to the bar and took our order, I asked for a coffee and a pint of water with ice and lemon and then ordered some food. We paid and then the drinks arrived shortly outside which my coffee was then spilt all over the edge and then no water. 20 minutes later our breakfast arrived, missing half of the food and was given no cutlery which we had to then ask for. None of the staff seemed to check and ask how the food and drinks were and when giving us our drinks or food - they didn’t even speak just slammed them down on the table. Very poor experience which is a shame as Marlow is such a lovely area. I would avoid this place and check out the other pubs that I’m sure have staff that are willing to serve you and not make it seem like a hassle when customers walk in. Will not be returning.

Pre-booked this restaurant for lunch after a journey of several hundred miles. After booking I’d emailed to request a window seat (if available)and mentioned it was for our anniversary treat. On arrival nobody seemed interested in us at all. 3 members of staff ignored us whilst playing with a customers dog. Another staff member was overheard to say, to another, that he was “trying to avoid customers”! We mentioned our booking, once someone took notice of us and the staff member shrugged and told us a table number. Totally disinterested in us as customers - we left without trying the food. First impressions count I’m afraid!

We stayed here for one night over Easter. I know this is a pub essentially with rooms, but we’ve stayed in better. The room was ok, a little tired perhaps ? Not so sure we would return which is such a shame as it’s very central.

Recommended by our front of house hotel employee. We had intended to go to the grill restaurant opposite, so thought we would scout this place and have a drink before hand. The location has a small outdoor seating outside on the street which was busy and the internal seating too in the bar area, was busy. We bought some drinks and shared a table with a random couple. Scanning the menu, it had very similar items which we had pencilled in for earring that evening. We could see the restaurant had spare seating and liked the vibe and decor so decided to try here. We ordered cocktails as a pre drink, intending to eat slowly. The cocktails were house specials and whilst tasting fresh, lacked the cocktail pizazz you would like in a cocktail. Pate and bread for starters had a lovely taste and was fresh. We went with the Cote de Boeuf M-Rare and was presented well and cooked perfectly. Having finished food the main bar had got busy and a live band were playing to which we stayed on to enjoy. Great decor, good vibes, great food and well priced

Popped in for lunch having been attracted by the fact that it is a Brakspear establishment. Hadn’t reserved a table but there were tables in the bar, where food could be served. Enjoyed a lovely pint of Gravity. The food itself was fairly average, I opted for the Wagyu burger. It lacked seasoning and the texture reflected the fact that it was cooked to the well side of medium. The former may reflect a desire to let the beef speak for itself and the latter reflect zelous interpreation of health & safetly guidelines; the result however was uninspiring. My wife was complemtary about her meal (enough to say a larger portion would have been nice) but felt her white wine was insufficiently chilled. Staff were pleasant throughout.

Food was nice but there was a very large loud gathering going on at one of the tables . We had to shout to speak to each other and it didn’t make the experience very pleasurable. Should of been offered the option of a quieter part of the restaurant . Probably wouldn’t go again. Sorry.

The experience was so so disappointing because the food was actually very nice and the service good . But to eat here is only acceptable to people that don’t mind having other peoples dogs in a restaurant where are you trying to eat your food and yapping barking and making a complete and total nuisance of itself to people trying to enjoy their meal and also making a real nuisance of itself to anybody that passes by. I feel this is a huge mistake as restaurants are not a place for dogs to be lying around on the floor or running around getting in peoples way and it ruined the entire experience for us ….therefore we shall never ever return again as I believe this is a big mistake on the part of the owners of the checkers.

Top notch food. Freshly prepared to order. Great service and friendly staff. I chose pate to start, hubby had halloumi. We both had the fish and chips to follow. Excellent and very tasty. Definitely recommend.
