Paid £5 for cheesey chips twice now. Both times chips were horrible, some green in colour horrible mushy/soggy texture, cheap nasty frozen chips left defrosted in a bag for god knows how long. Taste like cardboard, texture like thick porridge. I thought I'd give them benefit of the doubt after the first time I experienced this but its the same again. 🤢🤮

Review: The pizza was good, but the staff and service were far from satisfactory. My wife visited today and simply requested that the pizza be properly cooked, as our previous order had been undercooked. The staff member responded rudely, saying, “I don’t cook the pizza, it’s cooked in the oven.” To this, my response is simple: it’s not up to you to decide how good your service is—public reviews do that. 🙏 The individual in question was of Indian origin. While I don’t recall his name, you can easily identify him through your records if you are serious about improving your service. This incident occurred on October 16th, 2024, at approximately 13:00.

One of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant ... the waiter had to keep checking several times to know which items contained dairy. This was surprising given the limited nature of the set menu. Also, the only dessert option for our party member from the set menu was the poached pear which was not available, and we weren't aware of this until after the first two courses. This wasn't unavailable due to being sold out, but because the pears were unexpectedly hard, and they were preferring not to serve them. We opted to take them as they came, yet did need a knife and fork to eat them, but I don't understand why they didn't just warm them up to soften them beforehand. Plus also, it came with an aniseed coulis, which was originally advertised as a berry coulis, and the dairy intolerant guest really can't stand aniseed, so they ended up leaving the pear! With all the faff around the dessert, it ended the meal on a down note, and it all could have been avoided had we been proactively warned about the pear before we locked ourselves into ordering off the set menu. I was also surprised that there was only one dairy free option off the set menu... even just sorbet ice cream wasn't an official option, though it came as an addition to the pear?

Stumbled upon this place whilst passing by and really chuffed. A good proper pub. Nothing fancy, just a nice old skool English pub. Good beer, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the locals seemed happy to chat too. Bravo.
