Chandni in Sedgemoor

We visited on a very windy Saturday evening 9.12.23 we hadn't booked as we had just came down overnight we were staying in Highbridge..we were seated on a lovely table by lovely friendly staff,food was absolutely amazing I never eat it all but ate everything..my partner had chicken tikka naga and I had malaya chicken was so nice..I can't recommend here enough from service to food ..

No not at all anymore used to be the best in the area up until this year now it's gone really downhill

Poppadoms and starters were nice but very rushed-we had not finished the poppadoms before the starter was put in front of us. My husband hadn’t finished his starter when the manager came over and tried to take his plate away! My partner and I ordered vegetable curries and it was just frozen vegetables except the potatoes. My vegetable dopiaza was very bland. At no point did they offer us another drink, coffee or pudding. He came over and took my glass, which I had my hand around at the time and had another mouthful of lager in the glass and walked off with it. Very rude! A couple next to us were given a free baileys, we weren’t even asked-manager just told us the bill would arrive shortly! It was 8.30 when we got there so it wasn’t even near closing time! All in all we did not have a good experience and feel the manager was not very good at customer service. Will not go again.

The staff were very helpful, nice and friendly and ready with suggestions. We had two chicken dishes (a shashlick and a passanda ), one lamb jalfrezi and the duck mussala. We also had a vegetable begoon as our vegetable side dish and the usual naans and rices. We all had a little of everything and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Left the table completely stuffed. We recommend the restaurant to anyone who likes Indian cuisine, shall return when next in Burnham.

Looking for a good Indian restaurant in the area and we were recommended to try here by my wife’s friend…. Firstly a very clean restaurant and staff polite a good start.. the food absolutely superb tandoori chicken stater and a couple of popadoms mains… being a brummie you very rarely get a decent Balti outside of Birmingham and served in the correct dish… but I did ask and to my surprise it was served in a big black Balti bowl quality lamb and bhindi Balti madras hot 2 chapati’s was tremendous also a prawn Balti a chicken pot loaded with garlic and a Naan …. Fabulous food and a nice buzz about the place very good prices definitely go back when I’m down here next over all excellent 👍🏻

We were staying nearby on our way to Cornwall and decided on a whim to pop into Burnham. We came across Chandi by chance and I`m glad we did, as our meals couldn`t have been better. We had a prawn madras, chicken and lamb bhunas, with a mix of rice, poppadoms and naan breads. Despite the place being really busy ( always a good sign ) our food arrived quickly. All were perfectly cooked, the staff were all really friendly and the whole place just has a really nice feel about it. Plus, their prices are really good too, which definitely helps at the moment ! If Chandi was near to where I lived, I`d be a regular visitor. 10/10 .

Whilst on holiday at haven burnham on sea we was really fancying an Indian little did we know there was one right on our door step! Staff were so friendly and welcoming, quick service and the food was delicious! The best Bombay potatoes I’ve ever had

Everything I want in an Indian restaurant: unpretentious, delicious food, excellent service, lovely staff.

The food was delivered quickly, efficiently and most importantly, it was delicious! Very tasty! Unfortunately, as in any fairy tale, there must be something terrible. It was the waiter serving us, an elderly man with the behavior of a prison guard... We were closely watched, so that we felt uncomfortable and with such delicious food, there was no way to relax. Total contradiction! So, if you want to feel like in a prison canteen - this place is for you!

Saw a recommendation on facebook and thought we would give it a go. Glad we did, sevice and the meal was excellent. Good value for money too

Having lived in East London for several years and having visited many a great indian restaurant i cannot recall any that had produced such a memorable dish as Chandni's Village Style Begoon. A vegetarian dish that is so rich in flavour that you wont miss the meat , and i am not a full time vegetarian. This dish is so good it deserves a place on a list of the best of Indian cuisine.If your a meat eater give this vegetarian dish a try cos you dont know what your missing out on. I've tried a variety of this restaurants dishes and they have all been good but the Village Style Begoon is truly exceptional.

Superb food and service, we have been coming to the Chadni for over 6 years now.We often call up at short notice and in the main our corner table is made available for us.. Food excellent, staff superb, nothing is ever too much trouble. Thanks for looking after us so well.I highly recommend the Chadni .

The staff are friendly and welcoming, always with a smile.Banquet nights are great value and very busy, so worth booking.Take away menu is great, and you are welcome to wait in comfortable seating.The food, oh the food...my favourite Indian restaurant for miles. We usually hold our office socials there as everyone loves it and even the fussiest of eaters can find a good selection.

On holiday we booked this at the last minute and very pleased they fit us in. Food and service was impeccable.

We were visiting the area for a few days and were looking for a nice place to have a meal before coming home. Checking reviews, we found this restaurant. It was mid-week and Covid was lurking. We had not made a reservation but the restaurant was not overly busy. We had very good service, and although it was closing at 10pm, the food was excellent without having to rush. (I did have some banter with the waiter and suggested they close at 11pm instead). Everything was very pleasant and the waiter called us a taxi which was there in two minutes. Thank you very much guys for a most pleasant evening.

We visit hear every time we come to burnham and have never had a bad meal. Service very good. Food excellent. Price reasonable. Beer lovely. I would definitely book before hand as I does get busy. Covid restrictions did not seem great. Full menus on tables. no trace details taken. We came relatively early 6pm, so not many people in. But I can imagine a couple of hours later it would be packed out. We will return.Date of visit: October 2020

We came here twice last week when we were on holiday in Burnham . The first time on Monday which we enjoyed so much so we booked for the banquet night on Thursday . I'm so pleased we booked as it was very busy . The banquet proved to be excellent value which would explain why it is so popular . The food is so tasty with good portion sizes and good service . We found the covid precautions to be well observed with track and trace measures and reminders that masks must be worn when not seated . We shall certainly return when next in the area .

Lovely food, but COVID-19 precautions were non existent! Restaurant was packed, some staff had face masks under chin,and some didn’t even have any on(just in top pocket) NO Customer had face masks on when walking around restaurant (going to the toilets) we will not be returning until covid is over as we do not feel safe at all!

My husband and I have been here before and have always had excellent food but never on the buffet night so didn't know what to expect in the way of portion size . This night didn't disappoint fab food ! good portions ! excellent service

Staying in Brean so came here for a take-away. Absolutely delicious and so much meat in the curries!! Hassle free ordering by phone, lovely staff and very reasonably priced. Will definitely use again or visit for sit down meal.

Twice we have tried to eat at lunch time here ,once at 12.30 and 12.45.Although the board outside advertises 12 til 2pm ,apparently the chef goes home early!! Very very disappointed!

I am a curry connoisseur.Poppadum - not burnt, crispy and nicely fried. Mango, a little runny compared to the usual but sweet and spread well. Mint sauce, yellow in colour which in my experience is a very good sign, this did not disappoint. Onion/ tomato salad, no silly tomato sauce base, not harsh in taste, consistent in size which was square and small.I always look to this part of the curry as a great indication of the courses to come. A curry house cannot be more than 3 stars if you stray from the above description, I.e white mint sauce, IMMEDIATE 3 star maximum applied.Main courseI ordered my go to, this allows me to fairly compare all curry houses. The criteria for marking includes the following items;- Egg Fried Rice- Chicken Tikka Main- Naan (Plain)- 2x side dish sauces, usually a curry sauce and Pathia sauce.RiceThis was basmati mixed with fried egg. It’s difficult to articulate, but all I know there was a separation between these two parts. Unlike the 5 star rice which is usually fried together and is darker in colour. Still, solid, 4 stars.Chicken Tikka Main IF THE CHICKEN TIKKA DISPLAYS ANY JELLY LIKE TEXTURE ITS 2 STARS. If you do not recognise the above description please stop reading now, you do not have my respect regarding curry reviews. Thankfully my tikka was fantastic, 9 pieces or so, consistent in shape and colour, perfectly cuttable into two halves to create the naan sandwich. NO JELLYNESS. Could not ask for better. Sauces.Half sauces allow you the variation within the meal to mean that boredom does not strike halfway through and also means there is no requirement to share with the typical pleb at the table that orders a lamb Bhuna or King Prawn Masala. Curry sauce. Lovely consistency, medium hot, and very flavoursome. It coated the naan bread sandwiches perfectly and sat nicely on top of each fork-full (notice I didn’t say spoon-full) of rice. It left a warm feeling of satisfaction throughout the meal. Pathia sauce. As any good curry reviewer knows, this dish can vary massively in colour and flavour. However, the Pathia should be hot and have a sweet aftertaste. I have had very mixed experiences with this dish but I can’t help but go back to it. Chandhi’s attempt was bang on, it was amazing! Please order this. NaanThis should be short. Only criteria required;- doughiness / Crispiness- Black bubbles of burn- Butteriness (Ghee) 1) more doughy that crispy but okkkkkk.2) some what interdependent on 1) but limited black bubbles from cooking, this is not good.3) little to no butter.Overall, not great, why does this seem to be so difficult. Cook until it’s crispy and add a load of butter? The sauces saved this Naan bread. If it’s not crispy please all just send it back. Banging curry with potential to grow. Imagine where it could be, best curry in Somerset, or wherever Burnham-on-sea is. (Sorry)Oh, we also shared a bottle of number 17 Red. Can’t remember the name, was alright but not worth the money. Curry connoisseur (would give it 4.5 if I could)

We really enjoyed this restaurant for its food and service. Extensive menu and great surroundings made for a good evening.

Staying nearby for a few nights and fancied a curry. From the reviews this looked a good option. Hadn’t booked but got a table on a Friday evening no problem. It’s bigger inside than you think from outside but it was still very busy. The food was excellent, we had poppadoms, starters and mains and we al really enjoyed our food. The King prawn shashlick was amazing. Lovely big prawns and chargrilled onions, loved it. There wasn’t much left on anyone’s plates by the end. Compares well with any other Indian restaurant I’ve tried and would recommend if in the area.

Have visited a few times as a couple while holidaying in burnham, tonight we brought a large family group. Was looked after from the minute we walked in to the second we left. Service is top notch, food is the best I have ever had, servings are large and piping hot. They treated our children amazingly, ketchup when asked, sneaking them chocolates and lollipops. Thank you so much.

Birthday meal, staff was welcoming, polite, table was immaculate. Our waiter was always on hand to offer assistance. The food was superb, plenty of it, and portion size very good. An excellent night of superb food, in excellent surroundings. Worth more than 5 stars.

This was an amazing experience, the food was perfect, the staff are so professional well mannered. no faults to be had.i had travelled from the midlands to this area for a weekend break. i would defiantly go here again also recommended to the good Housekeeping guide gold star.

Two of us for evening meal. Surroundings pleasant and service was friendly and helpful. Food was good quality. A little concerned that spacing of tables not sufficient for COVID regulations. Couple sat on table next to barely a metre away and saw another family also looking concerned. Suggest they take a couple more tables out

A very busy restaurant. Very noisy. Staff rushing around every where. You need to book a table. As it dose get busy. Portions small and prices a little more than others.

6 of us had a midweek special, the food was excellent and the service very attentive, we will definately be coming again. The portions were very big and the garlic nan bread the best I have tasted for a while.

Visited on a Thursday night with no reservation, we were seated quickly, staff were extremely polite and attentive, we opted for the midweek special at £13.99 for 3 courses.Food was outstanding really couldn’t fault anything about this place, nice touch with free drink at end of night.

Been in before and it was so good I had to come back. Spent the day at Twickenham for the England versus Ireland game and was quite peckish on the way back so stopped for the customary biryani before heading home. Had to be done!

Went on a Saturday night, even at 6.30 it was nearly full So a good sign. Seated quickly, drinks order taken by a very pleasant chatty young man, made us feel very welcom. I have to all our starters were a little disappointing, lacking in flavour . Decent size portions and hot , but not what we expected. Mains more than made up for this, green chilli garlic chicken , bos special and buttered chicken, all good size, well cooked, tasty , and lots of meat in the dish which isn't always the case at Indian restaurants. We couldn't eat a dessert but they looked delicious. The service had been mostly very attentive and pleasant . But on paying the bill the member of staff didn't ask how the meal had been, he was busy speaking to another employee whilst he took payment from me, and didn't say good bye even when I said it to him. It wasn't just me , we all noticed his lack of customer service. Shame really as it is a small thing bit spoilt our visit slightly. We will come back , but just for a take away and just mains I think . So very nearly 5 stars

Went for a meal last night. Lamb was tough and chewy, food was bland and the hot dishes has no bite at all. Not impressed.

Popped in on the off chance, was busy but managed to get a table, what a gem, staff friendly and polite, food was lovely and well presented and washed down with a good pint aswell, couldn't fault any of it

Not been to Chandi for either a meal in or takeaway so thought I would again last night.

My wife and I have been coming to this great restaurant for 5 years now. Service remains great, the food is superb, and Alum is still the most polite and dignified man I have ever met. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him and his superb team. It’s also unusual in the fact that some staff are ladies who also do a superb job.

Really recommended. We had great service from a beautiful young Bangladeshi girl, who even provided spectacles as we'd left them behind. The food was great and very quickly served. Prices also were very fair. Great decor and atmosphere. No wonder it was pretty full on a week night.

I’ve been going to Chandni’s for nearly my whole life, I just celbrated my 16th birthday there and it was absolutely wonderful.

We visited the restaurant having never heard of it. We were warmly welcomed. Excellent choice of food and the waiter was exceptional in his service

A waiter asked us what we wanted to drink before we had taken our coats off ..... we asked him to bring us the drinks menu ! After that we didnt see anyone for 10- 15 minutes..... and then we had 3 different people come up to us within 3 minutes asking for our order. Everyone was very friendly and polite etc.

Thurs night had the special banquet for £13.95. It was stunning from start to finish. Food and service! To night had take away and wasn't disappointed. Would recommend 100%

Had a lovely meal they looked after us well including my disabled mother in her wheelchair. Would definitely recommend.

Intially got a takeaway which was so nice we went back 2 days later to have a meal in the restaurant. My partner is wheelchair bound and the staff made sure we were seated in a good position as soon as we arrived. The staff were so friendly and immediately we were offered drinks.

Went for banquet night on a Wednesday. Excellent tasty meal (including superb Onion Bhajee) Staff friendly , efficient and service was good considering the restaurant was very busy. Really pleased I went there !!!

As always we had an absolutely wonderful meal. Was very busy but they managed to find us a table. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. When asking for something special Jay went out of his way to make sure I got the food I wanted. Bar staff are always great to. Overall we had a superb meal served by wonderful staff. If you haven’t already, then you really must try this place. Best Indian restaurant for miles!! We will be back.

The restaurant has smart decor and crisp, white table covers, the staff member took us straight to a table, despite us turning up without a reservation.

This is the place to go for a taste explosion of spices. The food is amazing. The waiters are all friendly and always have a chat and a laugh with you even when busy. Good quality and good prices. Excellent night out

Visited here whilst in burnham on holiday and I visited with family on Thursday night, we all thought it was amazing. I couldn’t believe how busy it was in there for a Thursday just goes to show how good this restaurant is. The food was amazing we had popadoms with dips to start then between us we shared a keema rice and garlic naan which were really good. For main I had the chandni burnham on sea special which was superb this was mixed tandoori chicken and lamb dish in a great sauce. Portion sizes were great and we were all very full at the end. Excellent curry house, we all highly recommend

Our group of 8 ladies ate here on Saturday evening, and the service throughout was brilliant. The restaurant is spacious, nicely decorated and clean, with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We had a warm welcome and were never made to feel rushed or neglected. The dishes we selected were delicious and they all came out at the same time. This is our 4th year of coming to Burnham-on-Sea and we've always eaten at Chandni and never been disappointed.

We always eat here when we are at our holiday park! We have takeaways and eat in! The food is exceptional and the service is second to none! A lovely clean and comfortable dining area and professional and friendly staff!!! You won’t be disappointed!!

The restaurant is very friendly with a long list of excellent dishes, a very smart interior with a waterfall effect on one wall. A good couple of Indian beer choices, wines etc..

This is the first time we’ve visited as we normally stay in Brean and don’t come to Burnham in an evening. Having a long weekend in Burnham and thought we’d treat ourselves to a curry. Food was delicious, service was excellent and staff were lovely so we will be back for sure

Initial impression was an attractive restaurant but once inside it became clear staff were a little indifferent to wether they served you or not. A napkin was literally thrown onto our lap I,d rather place it myself than have it thrown but this seemed to set the pattern for the service of the evening. Asked three times before we d even opened the menu would we like papadoms and drinks. Then a change of plan would we like to order a starter before we had chose the main Course. All felt very rushed and pushy. We asked the waiter to bring a drink but we would prefer to order our food once we d had time to select. We ve been to India several times and love Indian food maybe their is a big difference in Indian and balgaldesh food but to be honest we found it to be rather bland not full of the herbs and spices more like a cook in sauce.

Turned up last minute on a Saturday night found us a table straight away. Was made to feel welcome on arrival staff friendly and welcoming. Tried a new dish and it was lovely couldn’t fault any of the meal.

We called in for a takeaway at lunch time. The wait was quite long, but that didn't matter to us. The staff were very friendly. The food was excellent, we had Rogan Josh, pillau rice and nan bread, we were given a complementary salad and poppadoms. There was a lot of meat, I personally would prefer a little less meat, but it didn't put me off my meal. Next time we are in Burnham we will call in for an evening meal. I highly recommend this restaurant

We had a great take away from hear Easter weekend. The place was very busy and we was told 45 mins for collection. We went after 45 mins but t it was not ready for another 15 mins but I did not mind waiting as they brought me a drink while I waited! It was very busy so I understood. However the food was great and worth the wait, lots of meat, piping hot loads of different veg in vegetable rice ( some places are just onions and peas). The jelfrezzi was a proper one quite spicy. We will definitely return.

Traditionally had great time and meal on our annual Easter holiday visit - however felt rushed , constantly told they were busy as an excuse for poor service and didn’t get what we ordered. They would not change the two orders and said they would charge us half price. We just wanted what we ordered and 2 people ended up not eating. Another excuse was the waiter didn’t speak good English, yet he spoke very well and understood everything. The chicken in meals was tough and not at all up to standard- paid the bill for 8 of us and manager proceeded to count it out over us at the table ... Very rude!
