Simply delicious in every way. The food is magnificent and delivered by the owners who are fabulous, friendly and have a passion for their food. It is hidden away and slightly tricky to get to but SO worth the trip!!

We’ve been lucky to visit The Chandler’s Arms several times in the last 18 months. We have always thought the service, atmosphere and food were superb, but somehow it seems each time we visit, the whole experience gets better and better. In our most recent visit we took advantage of the matching wine pairings, which just took things to another level. The whole team are very friendly but professional and rightly very proud of the service they offer. Collectively it genuinely makes dining in the Chandler’s Arm a true delight.

An absolutely sublime taster menu. There was very little, if anything to fault. Lovely ambience, attentive service and superb food. One of the courses featured salmon which I was rather nervous about. I dislike salmon rather intensely but thought I'd give it a go. It was devoured which shows what a talented chef there is here cooking such food. A wonderful meal and I am very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

What an absolute gem! We made last minute plans to meet for lunch and I set about finding somewhere to go when I discovered The Chandlers Arms on the Michelin Guide website. We booked and were not disappointed. The pub is nestled in Epwell and is surrounded by beautiful views of the countryside. There is a lovely garden, filled with lavender and olive and bay trees where we had a pre lunch drink. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and clearly very proud of their establishment and the local food on offer. We moved in to the tastefully decorated restaurant and were greeted with a delicious salmon amuse bouche - fresh and zesty flavour to set the taste buds alight. I selected a feta, charred melon and crispy prosciutto starter and salmon main and my sister in law had Barbary duck starter and chateaubriand main - both stunning and delivered by the chef to explain the component parts of each course. This was such a nice touch and again it was obvious how much they care about their craft! We were also served fresh, homemade sourdough rolls and homemade butter 😍 We both finished with an exquisite apple pie with marmalade ice cream and then returned to the garden to finish our bottle of rose. In summary the food is stunning but actually the owners taking the time to speak to each customer, introducing the food and the history of the pub and their ownership really lifted the experience to the next level. Can’t wait to go back now that we know that this gem of a place is only 20 minutes away. I would really encourage others to take the time to visit to experience customer service at its best and an excellent standard of reasonably priced, locally sourced food (not to mention a zero waste policy). Venture out, it’s definitely worth it!!

The service was impeccable, made all the more impressive by the fact that apparently they also had a private function happening at the same time - you absolutely wouldn't have known - they made us feel that we were the only customers there. The food was also superb - the chef himself (husband and wife team, husband was the chef, wife was front of house) came out and explained what each course was, and everything was so tasty and beautifully put together. Exceptional value too. Wouldn't hesitate in coming and eating here again, and would recommend to anyone. Thank you so much for making our day.

Not just a 5* dinner. One of those very rare dining experiences with an imaginative menu created from what must be one of the finest kitchens in the region.

Had the most wonderful set dinner, fantastic personal service from the chefs in a warm atmosphere. The dinner was eight courses all delicious and worth a Michelin star. Utterly delicious food; I thought I’d died and gone to heaven! The service mirrored the food. I can’t recommend it strongly enough. However, it won’t necessarily suit everyone. It is a set menu albeit a divine one that changes periodically.

Wow what a great find…wonderful hosts amazing tasting menu and unbelievable value for money. We were only here for a weekend but will make a point of visiting again. I hope the local residents support the owners. These kind of restaurants offering menus and service at this level and price point are almost unheard of now. I wish the owners every success, they deserve it on every level.

OMG! Superb!!! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. It is without doubt one of the best meals we have had for a long, long time. We can’t wait to return. I could rave about the magnificent food and the wonderful service but you just need to book and go as soon as possible!

We just had lunch at this restaurant and can’t recommend it highly enough. Very warm and welcoming front of house. Lovely flavours and beautifully presented. (Duck and piccalilli ice cream). All courses were fantastic. Service left to your discretion and not automatically added on. Don’t wait till this has a Michelin star!! We will be back. Thank you and well done.

We live locally & although we’d heard good things on the local grapevine, didn’t realise what a transformation has taken place under the new owners. Stunning food, beautifully presented, but a lovely informal atmosphere. In the evenings it’s a tasting menu - 5 courses I think (lost count!) plus amuses bouches - which is really good value given the quality of the food. Lovely wine list too. Exceptional place with lovely staff that deserves to do well. We’ll be back to try Sunday lunch next!

We went to The Chandlers Arms for the first time and ate from the lunch menu. The food was well constructed, well presented and everything on the plate added to the over taste of the dish. All three courses were cooked to perfection and very tasty. Also, the homemade bread and homemade butter were a real treat. The service was every bit as good as the meal. As it was quiet, we also had a good chat with the staff and chefs which was a bonus. We enjoyed the meal so much that as soon as we got home, we booked in for dinner service in two weeks time. I think this will soon become a regular place that we choose to eat out at.

What an outstanding Sunday lunch!!! From the appetiser gift of a chicken liver macaron, with the delightful sourdough bread and butter, into a torched mackerel fillet with a horseradish sorbet, beautifully tender roast beef with the best ever roast potatoes, perfectly cooked vegetables and a jus I could have drunk by the pint!!! Perfect quantities with wine and friendly knowledgeable service, the twist on a Jaffa cake desert as well as the pineapple upside down cake we’re simply delightful. A quality wine list and excellent value for money - can’t wait to visit again

Having read the last review from Hereford, we are so lucky that the Chandlers Arms is is our nearest pub, all of 3 miles away. What a 'local' to have! the food is so imaginative and delicious e.g - pate on a a macaroon as an 'Amuse Bouche' tonight - lovely combination of slightly sweet and just sour. Perfectly cooked, very tender venison with cherries, blackberries, parsnip sauce was the main course, with a Lemon curd Pavlova, raspberry sorbet and strawberries to finish. Cheese is also available, but no room left unfortunately! Good wine list and excellent friendly service with all dishes presented and explained by their creators. Friends have agreed that there is no need to go further afield for very fine dining - but in such a relaxed atmosphere

Quite simply the best food I have ever eaten. Outstanding!

What a fabulous experience! The stylish surroundings, warm welcome, excellent service and delicious food all add up to make this the perfect setting for a Sunday lunch. The amuse-bouche was out of this world, followed by chicken liver parfait, which was silky and smooth. Both the pork and strip loin were tender and tasty, and a choice of sticky toffee pudding or cheese board completed the meal. Chefs visited the table regularly and are clearly passionate about using good quality local produce. It shows! It was totally worth the 140 mile round trip to get there and we will be booking up a return visit for an evening meal in the not-too-distant future.

Amazing hospitality paired with delicious food. When I booked this pub was expecting a nice evening with good food but I was not prepared for the quality of the service and of the meal we had. Honestly on of the best restaurants in the UK. I hope the chef gets their deserved Michelin star soon.

This was our first visit here today and we were not disappointed. A small family run pub-restaurant on the edge of the Cotswolds. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Such a friendly and warm welcome with the two chefs visiting our table to describe each course. We will be back again soon.

From the moment you walk in you're greeted as if you were family with warm smiles and genuine kindness. Because the restaurant caters for around eight tables, the parking to the side of the restaurant has more than enough space to cater for guests. There are two dining areas, both of which are intimate and beautifully presented. The entire staff are family and it really shines through as there is a level of detail desire to ensure that your visit is one to remember and they really did not fail to deliver. The set menu is so well thought out and each dish compliments the next with some quite incredible taste sensations to be had. The beef fillet was fantastic but for me, the Ramsbury vodka cured salmon with cucumber sorbet was just stunning. With fine dining as good as this it won't be long until the dad/son chef partnership are seriously considered for a Michelin star because having dined at several Michelin star restaurants the Chandlers Arms are definitely on par. We spent three hours savouring every dish and the intimate ambience and we will be returning again very soon and will be bringing the parents with us so they can enjoy the experience as much as we did. Well done on creating a wonderful dining experience with a genuine approach to hospitality that comes with warm smiles and acute attention to detail. Thank you and see you again soon.

We had the most wonderful Sunday Roast the whole table can remember. The beef was perfect, gravy insane, and Yorkshires the tastiest ever. The family team running the restaurant provided the warmest of welcomes. We can’t wait to return. If your in the Cotswolds you have to make this a priority visit.

My wife and I were looking for a countryside restaurant when we found The Chandlers Arms on Trip Advisor. We haven’t heard about it before, but we were so glad to found it! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great, and the ride and place itself is so beautiful. We are always trying different restaurants all around, including many Michelin star, and The Chandlers Arms is one of the best we’ve been in the UK. Super recommended.

Recommendations do not come better than that, so I was greatly looking forward to my first visit to the Chandlers Arms: I was not disappointed! So often, sadly, the “hospitality” sector in this country seems totally mis-named. Just occasionally, however, one steps through a door for the first time and knows instinctively that one is in for a treat: The Chandlers Arms is one such place. Best of all, I can be there from my home in less than 20 minutes! One may come primarily for the food - and here the father and son kitchen team deliver mightily - but that is just part of the overall experience. Every member of the small family team not only understands the complex concept of hospitality, but appears to take pleasure in its delivery, in a delightfully understated manner. One of the things that impresses is the apparently effortless flexibility of the team. It is presumably no accident that each table gets at least one course served by each of the team members, including the two chefs, so that, by the end of the meal, one feels that one knows every member of the team. It takes a confident chef, with pride in his food and its presentation, to deliver it himself to a customer’s table! It will be Harry, as Head Chef, who will be awarded The Chandlers Arms’ first Michelin star, but the whole team will have earned it. Finally, be sure to ignore any review dated prior to April 2022: the building’s exterior may be largely unchanged, but that’s about the only thing!

Absolutely faultless. The service was perfect and nothing was a problem. I had a 15month old baby with me and we couldn’t have felt more welcome. The highchair was spotlessly clean and set up with baby dishes and cutlery. The staff were so friendly and the setting felt intimate and comfortable. Most importantly the food and wine was beyond brilliant. Extra gravy, extra potatoes…not a problem! We have already recommended to friends and planning our next visit. The only criticism is that we had to leave and go back to reality!

One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. This place should have a Michelin star! Incredible find on a short weekend away in the Cotswolds. No choices to make, just a perfectly designed 4 course menu (with some extra treats). As soon as the “snacks” came out we knew we were in for an excellent experience. Salmon starter, followed by a beef main with an exquisite cheese course that blew our socks off. And the dessert….wow. Perfect puff pastry that literally melted in the mouth and somehow had perfect bite too. To discover that this is a family run restaurant just added to the joy. Such lovely people who gave us the right amount of attention and brilliant service. If I could eat here once a month I would! Go try for yourself!!!

Great meal at this family owned and run restaurant (not sure if there’s still a “pub” bit). The set menu is clever in that they can produce consistently good, fresh food without offering 50 choices. The two dining rooms, holding about a dozen diners each, make for a homely atmosphere. The service by the family just adds to the feeling. Great food, perfect service, pleasant atmosphere and no exorbitant prices. What’s not to like?

A rather lovely venue with charming hosts. The food is amazing and so is the atmosphere. We have been a number of times now and the menu is always a surprise which is unusual today. It’s Epwell’s best kept secret, but it won’t be for long.

Visited here recently and couldn't have been more surprised. The food was impeccable and just amazing, there was a set menu, and to be fair most items on the menu I usually didn't like, but everything that was served was of the highest quality and completely delicious. If you can go, go!

Perfect in every way possible. Think of a superlative and apply it as it will fit here. Toilets you want to linger in. Glasses that gleam. Decor done with taste. Comfortable seats (so often overlooked!) A beautiful garden with lavender borders. Menus created with imagination, flair & a clear love and understanding of food, flavours and combinations. Well done Anthony! An extremely friendly couple who clearly understand the welcoming and approachable nature of true hospitality with none of the pomp & servitude or slovenliness that are the extremes of hospitality so often. The French influences abound but then they’ve just returned from running their own restaurant and chambre d’hote in France for the past 8 years. We so wish this was our local we’d be there every week! Instead we had to put up with only being able to go three times in our ten night stay in the area ;) we tried a weekday lunch, Sunday roast and finally the piece de resistance the tasting menu. We left feeling full but not stuffed full of stodge, a veritable assault on the taste buds.
