Bicester Bean Coffee Shop & Cafe in Cherwell

Had the breakfast, and, unpopular opinion but it was pretty average at best. Hash browns were quite greasy and think tasted more or the oil than hash brown. Sausages weren't to my taste. Quite dry. Lovely looking place, friendly staff, although nobody asked at any point if the food was ok or checked back on us. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again for breakfast.

After visiting other local places for breakfast we decided to try somewhere else My wife had previously enjoyed an afternoon tea here and why we chose Bicester Bean The food was amazing - service was fast and food was very hot and tasty At a tenner less than our usual place it was excellent value for money On the subject of money if after reading this you are gonna visit - please pay with cash so the owners do not have to pay extortionate card fees Our new go to - was amazing !!!

Bicester Bean Cafe is a humble caff, located on a nondescript plot of land off the A40, next to a caravan retailer and scrap metal merchants. With a family of peacocks wandering around the small carpark, the cafe itself is sympathetically decorated, and has a simple menu. But one thing is clear: they love to serve afternoon tea. We only had breakfast there, but have seen many social media posts with people speaking highly about their afternoon tea. On to the breakfast experience itself. The breakfast offerings are what you would expect from a caff. Sausage, egg, beans, toast, etc. Nothing fancy, but exactly what you would want to help start the day. Their unique point, which is also mentioned on social media, is that you can get a double or triple breakfast… and various people compete to see if they can consume the triple breakfast in one sitting. As they state they can cater for gluten-free, we confirmed if they can do the complexity of vegetarian gluten-free. And they could. The food was okay, but a touch on the oily side for us. The vegetarian sausages were okay, but were from a brand I would normally avoid. In hindsight I would have checked that before ordering the double breakfast. But it was good and honest food, and the place was packed that day. Worth going to in the area. Many people enjoy it there, and we may go back again another time if passing by at the right time.

This establishment seems to have a lot of local fans, especially for high tea served in private pods in the grounds. However, with its location in a light industrial area, the view over rows of campervans and its abysmal cappuccino (served in a mug, wiith no sign of espresso, steamed milk or froth) it really doesn't have any appeal for tourists.

I asked these lovely guys to cater for my retirement party. Everything exceeded my expectations by a country mile. We discussed dietary requirements, numbers, the type of things I wanted, what they needed me to do on the day. All was covered, all very professional. When they arrived, I was totally blown away with what they had done. The variety of things to choose from, too many to describe , good quality bread, the fillings. All absolutely delicious, & perfect for the occasion. I would think everyone went home full & happy, I certainly did. A huge thanks to Bicester Bean for pulling out all the stops!

Cappuccino and latte were very disappointing and not recognisable. The skin on the surface and the temperature leads me to believe the milk was microwaved. The scone with the cream tea was the smallest I have ever seen served with a cream tea.

We had afternoon tea in the pod. Very well presented with lots of delicious food and cakes. Fantastic service 👏 and a lovely experience. Thank you ally for all your hard work. Definitely recommend bicester bean.

Today was my first visit to Bicester Bean. Staff were friendly and welcoming, tables were clean and tidy. My breakfast bap was very tasty and my huge slice of old school cake was gorgeous. Good, honest, freshly made food and good value for money. I'm definitely coming back.

This was the loveliest little cafe. The afternoon tea in a pod was lovingly made with care and detail in every aspect, from unicorn shaped sandwiches for my 3 yo to 50 shaped for the birthday girl. From cupcakes to pink lemonade everything was brilliant and the staff were amazing. The unicorn lolly to bring home was the icing on the cake.Thank you ladies. Will definitely come again.

Service was not very good very surprised as been so many times and I took my mum for a special treat as she has not been well . Very disappointed. The lady serving was rude and not helpful . I ask if mum could have a cup and sauce with a small hot chocolate the face said it all and when I ask for the bill 4 times I was ignored . This place has all ways be so nice maybe it was a of day gods knows but will not be returning.

I emailed to book and explained it was a belated birthday celebration for my daughter, the response was really quick and aly was able to cater for exactly what we wanted, when we arrived staff were very friendly and welcoming and the spread before us was beautiful even down to the little toothpicks with happy 21st on them and a happy birthday sign, so thoughtful, they really had everything covered, staff made sure we had everything we needed without hovering and the food was delicious, if I could give this place 6 stars I would.

Had a cream tea for our 40th wedding anniversary, staff were very friendly and put everyone at their ease. it was amazing thank you so much

Lovely little place tucked away just outside of Bicester. Visited yesterday with friend and my son and ordered a light lunch. Staff very friendly, quick to serve us and food was delicious! Cafe became very busy with a birthday and another group having afternoon tea but we were still checked on and served quickly. Will definitely visit again.

This is a great little cafe. Great service. Nice cooked food. As a group we had, ham, egg and chips, Baked potato, panni and chips and Burger and chips. The cater for dairy and gluten free too. Also they are very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend.

This café is on a small industrial site. I went there for breakfast on a cold, windy day while my motorhome was being repaired on the site. There was a radio playing so loudly it was distorted and hurt my ears. I asked if it could be turned down, and was told that 'The men like it like this'. I was the only customer, and it was so cold outside that I left without ordering. I posted the same review as this on Google, and the owner replied 'You was rude'. I wasn't.

Glad to have found this and tried it. The food serving is great for the price, and they are not shy of using mayo. The service is not quite so friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating options.

Jewel of a place. Can only speak for the fab breakfast but excellent menu, gorgeous looking cakes and great service. And then there's the very tame peacocks strutting around in the car pack to add a bit of extra atmosphere to the place. Would highly recommend.

Drove a long way to find out that they don't serve all day breakfasts after 2pm, so an absolutely wasted journey. This is even though If you click on their menu on google you will see under breakfasts the words "SERVED ALL DAY."...see photo. Owner seems completely oblivious to this being an issue as this has already been brought up in other 1 star reviews regarding hot food. Owners need to make this clear through signage and description on the web as this is misleading. Please take this as advice to improve your customer experience and poor communication standards. 1star

Had an excellent belated Valentine’s Day afternoon tea here yesterday. Food and service was top notch as was the entertainment from the Peacocks. The location is somewhat incongruous ( next to a caravan sales outlet and a car dismantled) but don’t let that put you off. We were greeted warmly on our arrival and shown through to the conservatory where the food and drinks were all ready for us. By the way the all day breakfasts were the biggest I have ever seen😂. A big thank you to Aly and her team.😁

Lovely breakfast place, a great portion with affordable price. Love their little Christmas decorations around, also the food plate. It would be lovely if they could serve fresh orange juice rather than the bottle one.

Attended today and really disappointed, won’t be going back. The only thing reasonably priced on the menu was a Fry up everything else was over priced. Was served my lunch as a prawn salad when in fact I ordered a prawn sandwich, then told to “make it myself’ with the break plonked on the plate! No sausages for a bap ordered, forgot the drink for our daughters meal and the pizza were clearly frozen mini pizza barely cooked. The only thing good was the chips. Really disappointed after hearing lots of good stuff about it 😔

We rarely go out for a meal as there are 7 of us and money is very tight. I’ve been following Bicester Bean’s Facebook page for a while now and noticed that they did a sandwich special for a good price and the owner had told me that included gluten free, which I need because I have coeliac disease. We’ve had a nice day out today, so decided to end the day with a nice meal. We drove to Bicester Bean and got there at around 2:15pm. We were seated and given a couple of menus, no children’s menus though, even though we had our 3 and 5 year olds with us. I asked for a childrens menu and the waitress had asked us for the second time if we were ready to order. We were only then told by the owner that they weren’t able to make most of the menu items because there was only 2 of them. The cafe is open until 4pm everyday, but they told us really we’d need to get there by 2pm to be able to order what we wanted. They weren’t apologetic at all really, considering we had 5, very hungry and upset children with us. Our 3 year old was crying. We’ve had to drive down the road to McDonald’s, which will cost us a lot more! We will definitely NOT be returning. Absolutely awful!

Fantastic birthday party We held our daughters 14th birthday party afternoon tea in the conservatory here. It was fantastic. The food was beautifully presented with lots of 14s to make the food personalised to our theme. Nothing was too much trouble and all of the girls felt as though it was a really luxurious treat.

A huge thank you for the awesome afternoon tea ,we had today to mark my dads 80th birthday. We all had a fantastic time. The rainbow cake was amazing as was the whole afternoon tea.

Went in for breakfast with the wife today 12th May 22 . The place was bright, clean and welcoming. The lady who seated us was very friendly too. My wife had the pancake stack and I had the triple fried breakfast 😋. The best way to describe it is WOW 👌. Absolutely hands down the best breakfast in Bicester and probably Oxfordshire. Might try the 5 of everything fried breakfast challenge one day. Defo will be back soon. Thank you ladies and Bicester bean.

Amazing baby shower yesterday, the attention to detail was amazing, fabulous food, beautifully presented.A very warm welcome, We cannot praise Alison and her staff enough. It was well worth travelling down from North Staffordshire for. 10/10 for those scones!!

Due to having no electricity for 48 hours, we were desperate for some hot food and a decent cup of coffee! We were really lucky to find an excellent breakfast and lovely coffee, along with cheerful service at the Bicester Bean. Many thanks to all the staff there and we look forward to our next visit.

OMG absolutely amazing, so glad we found this place will definitely be returning. We had Christmas afternoon tea, brought most of it home such good value for money. Neither of us drink tea or coffee but we’re kept refilled with some of the nicest hot chocolate. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Thanks for having us we will be back!!

What a gem! I met my team for a Christmas lunch yesterday - a lovely festive feel, fabulous food and attentive service. Plus, great value. We also felt safe and relaxed as the Covid-risk was taken seriously. Highly recommended 👌:-)

Great cafe tucked away just outside of Bicester. Popped there this morning for some great, friendly service and an awesome breakfast. Everything cooked perfectly, not greasy and super tasty. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back and would highly recommend 👌🏼

Afternoon tea for a belated 60th celebration. Aly was very accommodating from the minute of contacting her. Easy going and quick at replying. Our afternoon tea catered for 1 vegan guest, 1 toddler and 2 others. The vegan selection was so yummy and filling, just as beautifully imaginative as the selection on our non vegan guests. My 2.5yr old son found the sandwiches very inviting and couldn't wait to tuck in to all the sweet treats too. Hands down, the best afternoon tea around and very reasonably priced. We can't wait to come back again.

A friend brought me here for my birthday. She had been a few times before, it’s off the beaten track and doesn’t look all that but looks can be deceptive. This little place is lovely and especially now in this unusual Covid times. They have little huts and caravans that have little names out the back so not only are you under cover but your warm whist having your lovely time. We have had many afternoon tea experiences and this was just lovely. The presentation, service and thought gone in to this was just great. The sandwiches were very tasty along with little quiches/savory bites. Scone with individual cream and jam. Cake, and sweets. My only very tiny criticism is that after sandwiches, scone and one slice of cake, another slice of cake and cupcake was very filling but we took them home for the little people to enjoy. Places like this in this current situation are amazing can’t recommend enough.

Aly has helped me and my local business by supporting my trade as an Artist at the cafe. Great for supporting others and spreading some love throughout bicester. I have also had the chance to try some of the homemade cakes, scones and roast dinner! I will defineatly be returning and i can not wait to try out an afternoon tea in the pods! Thank you so much Aly! I found out that I had to self isolate 2 hours before we were due to have my daughters 5th Birthday at the Bicester Bean. I phoned Aly to explain the situation and she was so helpful 😊 she put the whole lot on trays and my husband was able to go and collect it. As for the food, wow 😋 it was amazing, such a lovely selection and soo tasty. Thank you so much for making my daughters day still happen! xx

A pleasant experience a nice place to visit

Had an early start and delivered caravan next door, there breakfast was excellent quality, great portions, fantastic service and amazing value so good when we called to collect van later in the day we collected a fresh cream scone and Victoria sponge for a treat.

After finding this place last year on Fathers Day wanted to bring my dad back for the amazing traditional breakfast.Have just treated him to a birthday breakfast here, booked one of the new outside pods and definitely wasn’t disappointed.He is fussy about his English breakfast and it was great to hear him say how good it was.They now have a caravan kitted out for afternoon tea which can seat 6. We will definitely be back to try this out.If you haven’t been here for breakfast or afternoon tea, then you must - food is lovely, service is great - never disappoints!

As residents of Bicester we had seen lots of social media promotion of this cafe. Somehow we had never gotten around to trying it until the Covid19 lockdown started to ease. Again via social media we saw the steps that the proprietor was taking to make the cafe as Covid19 secure as possible. This encouraged us to try it as the first place we have eaten out since the lockdown. They have measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including bookable outdoor pods that can seat up to 4 people. We pre-booked one for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Upon arrival our pod wasn’t quite ready but to compensate Ally, the owner,gave us free drinks - delicious ice cream milkshakes. The pod was lovely and situated within the outdoor seating area at the rear of the cafe. They have two pods and a small caravan (called Beryl) all serving as separate eating areas as well as the regular outdoor seating. There was a one way system in place and lots of space to enable social distancing. We ordered a toasted panini and cheeseburger both with chips and salad with a couple of lattes. Service was prompt and with a smile. There were a couple of new staff that were clearly still learning the ropes but that did not spoil the experience as everyone was friendly and helpful. We hadn’t mentioned in advance that it was my wife’s birthday but when we did cake was produced in a flash with a rendition of happy birthday. We were really pleased with our first experience at Bicester Bean cafe and Ally was extremely kind to us. We will be back.

We went here today for my daughters afternoon tea party for her birthday, from when I arranged it and throughout the service has been amazing. I cannot thank you enough for making it as special as you did for evalyn. We all loved it and will return again soon. Thank you, you made her day xx

Had a lovely afternoon on Saturday for my daughter's birthday. The table was a picture. The food was amazing as was the service. Would definitely recommend to anyone

Very friendly, and food is really tasty

Heard about this place on Facebook and having passed the turn off many times on my commute I decided to pop in to get two takeaway coffees. Upon entering there was a smell of stale, wet cloths. There was no other customers at the counter with two tables occupied by groups of people with coffees and breakfast etc. I ordered 2 takeaway coffees, one decaf - a simple order you’d think. I was asked to repeat it 3 times as they were making it, one was made so far ahead of the other it’d gone luke warm so I had to ask for a new one to be made, they were confused, seemed to be distracted dealing with other things despite it not being busy and I eventually got my two takeaway coffees after about 15mins and £6 lighter. No friendly faces or smiles, didn’t seem bothered about much at all, very poor customer service and the coffee was not good. I won’t be back.

Good, Reasonable. On another visit I had a delicious sandwich which came with salad and coleslaw and was good value

Had a fab baby shower here for my sister, they couldn't of been nicer and more helpfull. Even found a load of decorations to add to mine to create a fab alice and wonderland feast. Would highly recommend! Great for large booking/party !! Didnt mind the kids running around after the sugary cakes either

Don’t be fooled by the location of this little oasis. Inside it is clean, bright and homely and a perfect place for s coffee, cake and catch up.Although service was a little slow, we were well served and were offered a selection of sweeteners to accompany our drinks ie sugar and a range of branded sugar substitutes. When we arrived (11am) there was a selection of 3 cakes to choose from. We chose the lemon drizzle and weren’t disappointed. That is until 12 noon when a whole heap more cakes arrived!Whilst there, staff were setting up for a birthday afternoon tea. The amount and variety sandwiches and cakes provided was amazing. I will certainly consider booking for a celebratory treat sometime.

We had a cream tea bought as birthday presses for me and my girls, and WOW what a treat, it was AMAZING and there was plenty of food, which they happily parceled up for you to take home if you couldn't finish. Will be definitely going back 😁👍

Brilliant place, best breakfast ever. All the food is amazing. If your trying to lose weight they have special choices. Nothing is too much trouble. The high tea and cream teas look amazing. Cakes are yummy too. At Easter you must try the cheesecake in half a chocolate egg. Heaven but so naughty. The staff are amazing and owner Alyson is lovely.

This is a hidden gem. Popped in for lunch with our young girls. They were prepping an afternoon tea which looked amazing. Staff were so friendly. Nice selection of sandwiches and baguettes. The staff made unicorn shaped jam and ham sandwiches for the girls, which they loved. They then had some lovely mini cupcakes. All for a really reasonable cost. Will definitely be back when down this way again

Having discovered this on Facebook recently we popped in for lunch one Friday. We opted for scrambled eggs with salmon. I thought this was great value for money and great tasting food. The coffee was a little bit strong for my tastes.

Amazing food, we had an afternoon tea catered for and Alison did us wonderful food including a vegetarian, someone on a gluten and dairy free diet and someone who couldn't eat nuts. I have had her cakes on may occasion and they are blissful, especially the brownies! Photo shows afternoon tea but it is at my house not the actual cafe.

We made a last minute booking for our daughters 32nd birthday. Our daughter is vagan but we are not. Its very difficult to get a decent selection of vegan meals but I have to say that's not a problem here. Our daughter was bowled over by her array of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Both the vegan and non vegan dishes were excellent, presentation was fabulous and the staff friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make our visit special.Most meals are served here from a wide range of breakfasts to lunches, snack and special occasions. They also provide buffet catering and prepacked meals for those on diet plans too busy to prepare their own.I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.
