A lovely little pub after a long walk!

No food at all last Sunday as stated in a-n-other review.

OK, so it's Christmas Day. Lunchtime. Myself, my wife and my brother head to the cwcil for a drink. Go into Bar..it's packed. We're in there for a couple of minutes when a member of staff approaches us and tells us this is a private party and we need to leave by the back door. No poster saying private function, door to bar was unlocked. Just looked like a busy Christmas lunchtime in the pub. Now, obviously the Cecil has every right to hold a private function, but it.may well have been an idea to.put a sign up saying so and perhaps lock the door to make it obvious. I could have dealt with all this, but the way in which we were asked to leave in front of everyone in the bar was unprofessional and rude. The whole thing was handled poorly and we won't be back.

Just perfect, The Cecil accommodated our reunion group last week and so looked after us. Without doubt we'll be back next year and that's not just for the food that they laid on, Superb!

What you call a proper pub for the community. Beer is good ..staff friendly.

Called in for a refresher, pleasantly surprised. Proper pub filled with locals, nice beer garden to enjoy a cold cider after a long drive from Wales.

This is our local. Great pub with a beer garden and a good play area for kids. We like to visit for a pint or 2 as part of our dog walk. Always a nice atmosphere. It's unfortunate they're currently not serving hot food otherwise it's a lovely place to have a nice relaxing drink.

Great place to drink, staff are friendly and has a very comfortable, lovely atmosphere. Garden area is great for kids too with play park, so you can enjoy your drinks outside. Would definitely recommend and will keep coming back!

They pour a good pint, friendly staff, outside area when the weather is ok. Honestly, with a good pint of Doombar I'd be happy anywhere :)

Popped in mid-afternoon for a Doombar and a Guinness, and found the pub quaint, clean and charming. A few couples were talking quietly. Perhaps too quietly!? Anyway, will visit again and hopefully catch some music and story-telling.

Lovely little local pub. Indoor seating between 2 bars. Beer garden with sheltered seating ans play park. Hosts functions. Food served in the evening was lovely. Staff are lovely and welcoming

The Cecil arms is our favourite place to visit for a drink after a walk around churchtown. They allow dogs in the beer garden which is great and the staff are always so lovely 🥰

Lovely, little and quiet pub. Staff are excellent and they are very welcoming. Only took a star off for the uncomfortable tables in the beer garden. Had to swap seats because the benches were too small for me and my girlfriend. Other than that, I would highly recommend and I will definitely visit again if I'm in Saltash.

Just had a perfect family meal, for our family of 10, including 2 young ones - who loved the play area! We had a warm welcome from the staff and enjoyed good, value for money, pub food.

Nicest owners ever. They were intrigued to how far we travelled and what we were in the area for. Food was home made. Locals were lovely felt like we were back home. 10/10 would recommend if you like pub grub and a nice pint with friendly people!

Fantastic home cooked food and very relaxed but stop serving food at 8.15pm so make sure your in time for the food and I recommend the curry or chilli

Home cooked chicken curry was lovely I could of eaten it all over again not to spicy and not too mild it was just right and I dont like spicy food but this was perfect for me

We went in for lunch as a large party of 13 and the bar staff and chef were very friendly and accommodating. Would visit again.

Had a lovely meal there tonight, my husband had the Poached Chicken, I had delicious Beef Bourguignon. Lovely pub, lots of locals, good atmosphere.

My family booked a table and I was invited in by the smell of smoke...lovely. I was not impressed with the inside of the pub as it was not inviting and I'm not that impressed with the food

This is a very good restaurant, from it's food to the drink and the unique style of the pub which has not been far changed from it's original appearance with a few changes. Nice staff, friendly feeling and roomy place.

Visited on a busy saturday evening in January for a family meal. The locals were very welcoming, and the staff were very keen to help. The menu is reasonable for the prices although fussy teenage daughter who doesn’t eat potatoes struggled to find something initially, and finally settled on the Chicken Tikka Massala. When the food arrived, not only was it well cooked, there was lots of it, and it was freshly cooked. The curry was surprisingly plentiful and very pleasant. The ham, egg and chips portion was especially huge, being served with about half a side of ham, freshly cut and very good quality. The scampi was very good. It was a little on the noisy side where we were sitting in a corner of the lounge, due to the large speaker above us, but when asked, the staff turned the music down a touch. All in all, given the modest pricing, and the friendly welcome, this was a pleasant evening meal. We would return.

On first sight, it’s look rather rough and ready and just a ‘locals pub’. The menu is chips with everything or a curry, but if you take it for what it is, the food is surprisingly good. Freshly cooked, hot and plentiful portions. Staff are really friendly and the price point is fine for what they are selling.

I always visit when i come home to Cornwall, this pub has a great atmosphere and Mike Rose and the rest of the team are very welcoming . They do an excellent range of affordable pub meals and the new winter warmer menu is awesome . Outside there is a nice garden and childrens play area. If your in Saltash this is the place to go. Dog friendly and walks in the nature reserve near by.

Very popular place among locals... practically impossible to sit, the place is very small and it is impossible to find a seat (Friday evening)

Good hot basic bar food prepared to order by friendly staff Newspapers available Outside garden area with good children's play equipment including climbing equipment and slide on grassy garden with seating. Situated opposite At Stephens church and close to Churchtown Farm Nature Reserve it's a handy place to pause after a walk. Dogs are welcome

Went here recently for lunch with my dad’s walking group and the food was lovely, preordered so quick and efficient I had ham sandwiches on a huge plate with salad for £3.50! Bargain! The rest of the food ordered in the group looked lovely as well This is a real community pub, with lots of regulars coming in and the bar staff know all their names Beer garden outside with a play area for the kids Great place!!

Fabulous! Always a good pint, and very friendly atmosphere.

We visited for the first time and were most impressed by the quality of the food The menu is small, typical bar food with chips and some curries. There is a vegetarian option too The food was all freshly prepared and piping hot. The chips were excellent and all the meals were reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely return to taste.more

Saltash has had some new pubs open lately and they are all run by rough traveller types. this pub has stood the test of time and is a nice place to be. sundays in there are relaxing and nice. food is good too
