Was around in the area for board masters the festival. Me and my friends wanted a quick snack to eat cheaply as well. This café is right on the beach and is only a 20 minute walk from the festival. We had a lovely cheese and salad sandwich, it was delicious, we also had some drinks. Sandwiches were handmade and could see them doing it. The people running it were lovely and helpful and really sweet and polite. I really recommend this café it was lovely!

I was shocked and very disappointed by the rude owner of this cafe who refused to refill my child’s water bottle on a hot sunny day in August - after I had bought three ice creams. He cited it ‘not fitting under his tap’ as the reason. Unsurprisingly he didn’t offer us a cup of tap water either. Whilst I am aware it is only the law to provide potable water in licensed cafes I am shocked that a beach front cafe in a plastic free town will go as far as refusing a tap water refill for a child. As a local I will not be returning. A kind holiday maker who over heard the conversation came over to offer me some of his family’s water and said they would be boycotting the cafe for the rest of the week as he was so shocked by the owners response. **edited to add** - thank you for your response. However we certainly did not ‘charge up to the counter asking for water’. We had been stood in the queue for 5 minutes behind several people and my children and I had even commented (very positively) on the bucket of ice cream served by the lady to the previous customer. As mentioned above, another holiday maker was in the queue ahead of us also. So we were not queue jumping at all! Citing the ‘cost’ of ‘expensive’ SW water tap water should not be a factor it would have cost a fraction of a penny for a tap water refill. The bottle was a child’s bottle covered in butterflies and my 8 and 6 year olds stood with me in the queue. In 2023 cafes should offer water refills regardless of it being for a child or not. As your response at the time your reply on here is shortsighted, knee-jerk and rude.

Popped into the cafe for sandwiches and coffee at lunchtime. The cafe is spotless and the owners are friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches and cakes are made with the freshest ingredients and bread like it used to be! The waffles looked popular too. There is a lovely grassy seating area overlooking the beach, with benches for patrons to enjoy the views. Well worth a visit.

We had a takeaway cream tea from this lovely little cafe and enjoyed it sitting by the beach nearby. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. The scones were warm and the clotted cream was delicious. They do have a lovely outdoor seating area, but we didn't use that as we are only doing takeaways under the current circumstances. We felt the prices were very reasonable for the area and location.

Asked for 2 cream teas, got a plastic box containing one scone,a plastic tub of jam and another plastic tub of cream much like I'd expect at a motorway service area, and no tea. To be fair, I didn't look at the menu which stated they serve it as that and hot drinks are available separately. The environmental credentials of single use plastic tubs bothers me, especially as I'm a person whom during a stroll on the beach thinks nothing of collecting armfuls of plastic rubbish to help in my little way. We added two coffees and they were served in disposable laminated paper cups, sigh ! The kids had ice cream which they enjoyed immensely. Such a shame that a fantastic location like this is ruined by bad management decisions probably driven by profit. Unfortunately, that's the only profit you'll get from me.

I can only echo Beth Ws review. In the past there was cooked food available but alas it is now only sandwiches, cream teas, ice cream and cakes. The bread was not fresh and like Beth’s sandwich it was permeated with the salad dressing. I noted that the days special was a sausage sandwich, wow. I did not feel the need to sit in one of the painted garden sheds as I was depressed enough by the menu. I live in Newquay and eat out several times a week. I don’t think I will be revisiting any time soon.

Called here for lunch on one of our days away hoping for maybe some chips or something as they advertise hot and cold food. Only to find its a couple of hot sandwiches like sausage and egg. I had a tuna sandwich and my other half had ham and tomatoe. When we got the sandwiches they had bin placed in a paper bag (no problem) but there was a leafy bit of salad on top of the sandwiches covered in salad dressing. This was not advertised on the menu and made the sandwich taste odd. The bread was also dry. Had ice cream after and even they was like they had bin left in the sun for hrs and was melted before entered the tubs!

Visited twice and was not disappointed at all. Location is perfect as it’s right by the beach. Sandwiches were delicious an big too. Cranberry & Brie was my favourite, plus you get a bit of side salad and it’s all served on a paper plate in a paper bag with a wooden fork. Easy to take onto the beach or eat it on one of their picnic tables or beach huts. We also had cake, flapjack and cold drinks, all lovely. Drinks are maybe a bit pricey, but can’t complain as it’s all so convenient. The staff were very helpful when a lady in a wheelchair wanted to order food and couldn’t get up to the counter. They came out and brought food to her, very helpful.

Just visited the cafe for lunch with my family. My four year old decided on sipping his coke that it was too fizzy and he wanted water so I asked for a glass for him. I was told the cafe couldn't give me a glass of water as they didn't have glasses... behind the counter was a huge stack of paper cups and when I pointed this out was told that they only came with coffee. Having just spent over £20 on food and drinks I felt this was ridiculously unreasonable. I know the summer season is fleeting but there is no need to be so exploitative. The fish finger sandwich was fine and the bread was nice hence the second star.

I have had better chips from a takeaway on a night out and didn't cost half way near as much. This place has so much potential to be something brilliant but if they can't get the simple things right then why bother at all, it is in a prime location but the food was such a dissapointment. Really enjoyed the food, although the website gave a different impression to what was actually served - in particular it looked like it served full English breakfast, when in reality it was more breakfast sandwiches (e.g. egg and sausage). Still tasty but different to what we expected. Super convenient location with a great view of the beach. Lunch menu is good - chips in a bucket was a hit with the kids.
