Una Kitchen in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We booked our table in advance which seemed wise as the place was fairly busy - we ate at 6:45 and so at that time there were a few families around with children. Everything was lovely and we enjoyed delicious pizzas, an exquisite desert, lovely coffee…the wood fired oven is of course a great asset as everything tastes and smells great. We also felt certain that we were eating good quality food made from wholesome ingredients. The whole facility was spotlessly clean and the staff paid attention to detail. We encountered three different waitresses who were all polite, friendly and welcoming. We were glad we chose to eat here and will come back!

Staying nearby we were looking for somewhere inside (on a rainy day) where we can take dogs. This place was amazing. We ate at 7pm and was worried it may be full of noisy children (been there done that) but it was lovely! Lovely attentive staff, great restaurant design, nice and clean, background music not too loud and the food was incredible. Forgot to take photos but we had the pizzetta and arancini balls for starters and both had the burgers. Wow… not exaggerating but they were right up there with the best, almost Five Guys quality!!

We stayed at Una for a week in july and dined in the restaurant several times throughout our stay, the restaurant did not disappoint, the pizzas were the best we have had outside of Italy and we are big pizza fans, they have a wood burning oven and you can sit and watch as your food is cooked, the crab linguini was amazing, the pork belly dish was fully of flavour and perfectly cooked, good choices for children as well. portions were generous, the service was very good, Nikki was lovely. The decor was modern and clean. we will most definitely be returning and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting to either eat or stay.

Disappointing dinner at Unas. Menu is very limited and pricey for what it is. We ordered a belly pork main dish and it was the size of a starter. Service was good and food arrived promptly, however restaurant definitely lacking in atmosphere and as someone previously remarked, more like a canteen. Drinks very expensive compared to other establishments. Shame as it has such potential to be great for staying guests and locals. Discovered a 10% Service Charge on bill which we were not told about or even asked if we agreed, and can't remember reading that was to be added on the menu either. Will not be visiting again.

Reasonable food. My bacon was a bit tough and egg was overcooked. Great service and reasonable prices. You do get a good size portion. I only had breakfast not yet tried any other menu’s yet, Not the greatest experience, but I’ve heard such good things, so will def go back and try lunch/dinner. Good easy parking and easy to find. Lovely interior all nice & clean.

As we were staying at Una, Carbis Bay we decided to try the on site restaurant. (Una Kitchen) Enquiring earlier in the day we were told there was no need to book and on arrival at 1900 we were quickly shown to a table and given the menu. The restaurant appears to be mainly a grill/pizza establishment as there were few traditional dishes on the menu (we both like meals with vegetables). The only vegetables available were roasted vegetables as a side order. My wife had a limited choice as she does not like burgers and Pizza and therefore decided on the steak. I had the stacked burger. Our food was served reasonably quickly but appear to have been cooked in 2 different parts of the restaurant (there is a wood fire oven in part of it). My wife’s steak was served with pepper on top (not on menu nor requested) so she scraped this off the top but later found 3 bits of grizzle in her steak. With no steak knifes laid she asked for a steak knife and mentioned to the waitress about the grizzle in her steak but no response was made by the waitress. My burger was fine (not much can go wrong with cooking a burger). We decided not to have a dessert as we had previously brought some fruit to have in our apartment. I would say Una Kitchen was nothing more than average with a (in my opinion) poor menu choice. The cost was probably average for this type of establishment, although comparing to a pub/restaurant we went to later in the week was dearer. Also Una Kitchen had a service charge of 10%. The restaurant overlooks an outside eating/drinking area and outside swimming pool. All the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful (apart from the steak issue above).If we stayed at Una Carbis Bays again I doubt we would eat in their restaurant as there are loads of eating establishments in the area . However, for those staying here the Una Kitchen is convenient with no need to leave the site.

After a bit of trouble finding it ( don’t use the postcode) we had dinner. The staff were friendly and efficient but the reviews and ratings in our view are over generous. We had an ok and very average meal. We had pizza slightly soft in the middle and a chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel was on top of potatoes which made the base go soggy. It was ok but average at best. No atmosphere it was like a canteen. The staff were great and obliging but not worth a repeat visit.

The restaurant itself is really nice visually and in a good location if you are local to the area. But with regards to the food, we visited for a Sunday roast. The portions provided were very small, the meat was so fatty and partially inedible and it had an awful/strange tang to it, we asked for additional gravy and a gravy boat quite literally the size of a shot glass was provided. We were hardly approached by any waiting staff, even though there 3 waiting staff working and only 4 tables occupied within the entire restaurant and bar. We were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu to which we said yes. 15 minutes later, it was clear there would be no menu given to us. Very disappointing experience, no restaurant staff batted an eyelid or a goodbye as we left the restaurant, but we did manage to get a cheery goodbye from the barman. More so as we received this meal as a gift voucher and we had expected, at the very least hoped for a nice experience. I definitely would have made the effort to argue the cost for what was provided otherwise (gift voucher was £40 for two people and was 1 course and 1 small drink). Sad and disappointing all round.

Friendly staff in a welcoming atmosphere - so friendly to us and our dog. Helpfully moved us to a table away from the main walkway so the dog could sit quietly. Food and wine were excellent.

Only two of us ate here and we all had drinks. We didn't find the menu inspiring and ordered welsh rarebit. One slice of toast and plenty of cheese on £10, I find that expensive for what it was. Drinks were the most expensive we experienced in Cornwall and a 10% service charge we were not advised about. Whilst we have no objection to a SC this was the only place we weren't prewarned. We didn't revisit.

Disappointing dinner. We stayed for two night in August and loved the room and the facilities. When we saw the massive pizza oven in the kitchen I was very excited to eat. The whole meal was just flat unfortunately, the starters and vegetables we had as a side dish were bland and under seasoned. The pizza itself was not cooked for long enough, the tomato sauce was watery and the cheese tasted cheap. Service was ok but we waited long periods between plates going and for the bill etc.

We stayed on site and ate here twice. The service was always very good and the restaurant was fairly quiet as it isn’t peak season - nice for us as we have done all the mad school holiday bit, now we can be older and grumpier!! We tried the hake and pork burger and really enjoyed it. Their own beer was rather nice and the cocktails were good - too tasty really as they didn’t last long. Staff were great and we were fine for gluten free. I wouldn’t say it is the cheapest but we were not disappointed with the food. Would go back.

This Restaurant is very clean tidy and welcoming. Good selection of Drinks, the UNA Kor draught Lager is very nice. Reasonably comprehensive menu, speciality being the Pizza's in the special Oven. I had the steak which was slightly over salted, but still eddible and tasty. My wife hd Hake that she really like. Children had a Faultless Pizza & Chicken Burger. Special Mention, the service and staff were outstanding. One minor Downside, they only take Card Payments as they are of the many increasing Cashless locations.

I went with my parents, we all ordered steak and chip, 1 Medium and 2 med/rare. My medium-rare was was more rare. Nothing was piping hot when it came out and we were the only ones there. Other med/rare was good. No consistancy

Beautiful setting. Fab atmosphere. Fantastic food. Great service. What a gem ! I had the hake and it was delicious. Not a chip in sight.

We visited for Sunday lunch and then the following day for early morning family swim and breakfast deal! Despite the wet weather we all had a great time. The live music on the Sunday was an added bonus!

Visited on the last day of an amazing couples holiday with my best friends only to be disappointed. All the food was lovely and my fish in particular was excellent, but my friend who ordered a pizza unfortunately had to send it back due to the whole base being black and tasting like charcoal. The waitress happily replaced the pizza but by this time the rest of us had finished and she ate her food alone. When we received the bill we expected the pizza to be taken off or at least discounted as it is not a cheap restaurant. As well as this we noticed when we were home the bill was actually wrong and we were overcharged £6.25. Just a disappointing way to end the holiday :(

Had a really lovely meal here with my family. All three of the dishes and desserts we ordered were delicious and drinks were superb too. Staff were super helpful and friendly! Just wanted to leave a note for fellow gluten-free folk that they can do their pizzas on a gluten free pizza base but it’s an extra £2 charge. Also the pizzas are all cooked in the same oven so not so good for coeliac but perfectly great for me!

Sunday Lunch. This was not a very pleasant experience. My beef was so rare it was dripping with blood, it had to go back. My wife’s pork was nothing more than a slab of fat, with the tiniest bit of meat around the outside. Overall an experience we will not be repeating. Which is a shame as it’s a nice venue and we do live locally. Sorry but not for us.

Lovely outside set up, with the potential for such good vibes if it was a little less empty. The food is good, with some interesting and genuinely delicious combinations, most notably the tangerines in the salad. The menu is large enough to cater for most, whilst maintaining the exciting elements that keep menus fresh. The smoothies and cocktails were also fun, where I must point out the green lean smoothie was actually a pleasure to drink! That being said, it’s a little overpriced, with the burrito and nachos not living up to the price tags really, despite being tasty. The service was kind and polite, always with a smile, offering us blankets when the heaters didn’t work too, which was greatly appreciated! Given the standard of local food in St Ives and beyond, I wouldn’t necessarily jump at the chance to eat here, but if it’s layed back, beachy vibes of sort that you’re looking for, with more generic food away from the crab and fish and chips, then maybe this is the place for you!

We stayed at Una resort last year for a week & loved it. Came back today for food only & found Staff and facilities are really great. Hate to leave a negative review however we found the food quite bland (soup & Sunday lunch). Spicy carrot soup had no depth of flavour & Roast beef was too rare for our liking, hubby couldn’t eat any of it. Green veg was slightly over cooked and gravy could have been more flavoursome. Very good service though, pleasant, polite and genuinely friendly people which makes all the difference. Beautiful surroundings and great music too.

We wanted a casual relaxed lunch and Una proved the perfect venue. The pizza was great with a lovely spicy tomato sauce. The pork burger was perfect.

Visited the spa for a manicure and pedicure, arrived early so had a nice cup of tea. I saw the menu and decided to stay for dinner after my treatments, I ordered the steak and at was delicious, cooked perfectly. Glad I looked at the menu. The waitress who served my cup of tea was really lovely. The younger waitress in the restaurant was pleasant but young, just needs to build her confidence up a bit more.

Great discovery whilst on holiday in local area. Food is amazing and staff are really friendly. Atmosphere of the place is nice and relaxed from arrival and they allow you time to enjoy your evening without any pressure to "finish up" like some places. Had the burger and the Steak on sperate occasiosn an both were really nice. Serving portions were ample and filling, as well as good value for money. Starters of olives and bread fantastic too. We loved this place so much we returned for a second enjoyable evening in the same week after having a great experience here with friends earlier in the week.

Lovely, food, staff, location and surroundings

So, I came here with my parents for a long awaited reunion, The restaurant had no more than four covers, the service was although polite was very slow, when I asked the opinion of the waiter he said “dunno”. Not only did it take 35 minutes to clear the table… the food was reheated and dripping- and I mean DRIPPING in grease, my mum and I ordered the sea bream and as two people who mainly eat a seafood diet - I’ve never had a bream so filled with bones without being given a special fish slice to help with them. My stepdads steak was fatty cooked at medium, when he’d asked for medium rare and the chips could have styled Danny Zuco’s hair from Grease. It’s such a shame, it had wicked reviews and we wanted to go for a special occasion. Not to mention, when asked how everything was after waiting for the waiter to clear the table for ages and we told him he was like “oh no”, and did nothing to rectify it. My parents were looking to join the members club upon moving to Carbis Bay, they won’t be now. What an upsetting reunion experience.

This newly created resort has managed to create an welcoming and interesting destination. We were not using the facilities or staying at Una, but had taken a short from our local accommodation to sample the dinner menu. A contemporary and airy restaurant, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Sie haben einen riesigen Pizzaofen der mit Holz beheizt wird. Die Pizza war sehr lecker. Auch der Fisch kam aus der Region und wurde im Ofen gegrillt. Der Fisch war super saftig und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Restaurant ist sehr hübsch eingerichtet.

We went for breakfast and dinner as we were staying at the Una. We found that the food was all OK. Nothing amazing.

Ordered the steak, the quality of the meat was very good, it was cooked well and the portions left me filled. A bit pricey but worth the money.

Staff were lovely, coffee and cider was nice and the tea pot was a lovely design. The cleanliness wasn't great at all. Floor was filthy and nail clippings on the floor. Seats were stained and it wasn't really that busy to justify the floor.

Not value for money. But nice . Handy when out of the pool and spa.

Absolutely delicious Sunday dinner - the veggie option was delicious, not the usual sweet options I seem to end up with (the most delicious nut roast I’ve had). Accompaniments and dessert also wonderful, and great atmosphere, very buzzy.

People have talked about the flavours in previous reviews, and this covers most of what's great here. It's more about expecting that flavour experience, and being greeted with flavours better than you could have predicted or imagined. And don't expect small portions of big flavours, the meals are fulfilling, even if the large plates deceive you. I was not disappointed with any aspect of my meal (prosciutto bruschetta, Chicken burger with sage and onion mayo), and my family was shocked to hear it, it doesn't happen often!

As title, food delicious, my pork/ crackling was delicious but partner's beef was a little challenging. Staff were wonderful, efficient and friendly. Live acoustic music on a Sunday afternoon was a great touch (if a little loud). Would recommend!

Food is good. Prices are quite high. The milkshake was £5.50 and wasn't anything special. A few small marshmallows scattered on the top of a milk concentrate mix. Not very thick at all. Maybe add ice cream? Apparently the pizzas are very good. Looking forward to having an outside area to enjoy the new pool.

We went for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch. We had absolutely fabulous sandwiches served with bowls of chips and all the staff were lovely.

We found its seafood dishes to be especially tasty, with the highlight being the fish cake and the sauce it came with. The other foods like the pizza and the mackerel are also adequate dishes and the service here was great both times we were here. The price is about average, but the portion sizes are satisfying. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who is in Carbis Bay.

We’ve been here quite a few times and haven’t thought to leave a review until now. It’s consistently good, the wood fired pizzas are exceptional and the coffee always hot! Service with a smile and friendly chat, it’s a lovely place, I’d definitely recommend it.

Absolutely gorgeous location. Pristine and calm. Food was so amazing - my wife had a slow cooked beef ragu on papradelle and that tasted out of this world, best one easily we ever had. My salt & pepper squid was scrumptious and so was my beetroot and feta salad. Service was perfect, quick and friendly. Highly recommend.
