Case Restaurant in Leicester

Not bad, certainly one of the better establishments in Leicester. We went for a Saturday lunchtime, the restaurant decor is very nice and with huge windows it has a light feel and nice views of the rooftops. It was relatively quiet when we dined. The menu is ok, a little limited with not the greatest choices for a Saturday lunchtime we felt, there was only one dish each we'd have, much of it was a bit too heavy for a lunchtime, things like lamb etc. Service was ok, quite prompt, not overly friendly, but certainly not unfriendly. It just needs a bit of a lift to get it to being a real superstar for a Saturday lunchtime, but we enjoyed our visit nonetheless. Thank you

The food was excellent and a different twist on standard ingredients. Decent selection of drinks, loved the cocktails. Service was just at the right speed and the staff polite and friendly. Will certainly return.

The staff last night were amazing - you need to hold on to those 2 girls; a real credit -and as for the food, I can only say it was absolutely 5 star. I had the lemon chicken with wild garlic pesto and English asparagus followed by crisp and tart poached rhubarb with rhubarb ice cream - hold on to that chef as well! My friends had the sea bass and said it too was delicious. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area.

Lovely open restaurant with delicious food. We ate here last week with my sister. They're local and often eat here, but it was our first time. Despite not having 2 of our wine choices, we found a good alternative and the food was great! Couldn't really fault anything we ate. My brother-in-law is coeliac and lactose intolerant, and the restaurant was so helpful - they highlighted what her was able to eat.

We recently had a small wedding party at The Case. There were only 14 of us but The Case was happy to accept my booking for their function room. The room was lovely and well set out. We had a special menu and the food was delicious, all of the guests commented on their choices. The service was very good provided by friendly helpful staff. We had a lovely afternoon.

Have been to the bar in numerous occasions but will probably not go back again . Went at 7.30 after a trip to the theatre and early dinner - found a table and waited for service for about 15 mins . One of our friends went to the bar to order and was told he wouldn’t be served as they had a duty of care . When I asked the staff why she wouldn’t serve us she said he had glassy eyes and was staggering / our friend actually had a broken toe . Then we were told if we didn’t leave she would call security as she was busy - shame that such a great place has management that make arbitrary decisions on poor visual judgement , maybe more training is needed . I prefer to deal with complaints there and then rather than using Tripadvisor as a forum but I tried that and the manager was clearly not interested . Shame really .

Visited yesterday for the first time in a while and remembered how nice it was. Service in particular is excellent - warm and friendly but very professional. I love that they treated my young daughter so well too and made a fuss of presenting her soft drink so nicely.

An amazing champagne bay with a wide variety. Great hospitality and a warm welcome. Would definitely recommend and visit.

Absolutely devine starting with the gentleman on arrival and the attentive young lady who took orders and served. The smell of fresh flowers just wonderful. The food was just perfection cooked superbly and delicious. Cannot wait to return.

Private dinner for 28 guests in their top room - beautifully done from first to last I even enjoyed the planning : over early morning coffees, Dave talked about it as if it was the most important thing on his mind. Just to note the service: one of our number was in a wheelchair. At the end of the evening, the chefs appeared to carry him, wheelchair and all, down the stairs.

We recently ate here and can’t fault the service or the food. Both our starters and main courses were cooked to perfection and well presented. I’m looking forward to visiting again as soon as possible.

Booked in for a table of two at a lunchtime - got an email saying the below. "Really sorry but we can’t hold the below booking for you - our evening party has increased and requires a greater set up which has just changed the shape of the day for us." Expected us to change our dates booked far in advance because they'd decided to allow greater numbers later in the day. Shows exactly how they operate - cash over customer satisfaction. Don't bother with them.

I had my 30th birthday party in the private room upstairs at The Case and it could not have gone better! David and his team did a fabulous job making the room look absolutely stunning, with great lighting, music and decorative flowers. The food was excellent, all my friends commented on how tasty it was, and just the right amount too - not too big and not too small, just high quality, delicious goodness. We all loved how wide ranging the menu was, we could pre-order from an extensive pre-agreed menu, it was really easy and everyone was able to have something they loved. The kitchen did a great job dealing with a variety of dietary requirements, and the bar/serving staff kept the drinks flowing and ensured we all had a great time. David was incredibly helpful throughout the party planning, he was really flexible with requests and worked collaboratively with me to ensure the night was a success. If you’re looking for a place to have a private meal with friends & family, I cannot recommend The Case enough. The value for money is truly excellent and the whole team will do a great job to make your event a success. Thank you so much to everyone!

Saturday lunch with a friend - great comms re reservation - superb service - outstanding food and what an unusual and welcoming space. Great value too - if what you want is freshly good great produce with attentive knowledgable service this is where to go. Cocktails and wine list are great too - just go!

Having tried to book this for my birthday only to find out they were closed, fathers day was cancelled due to covid we finally made it to Case and boy was it worth the wait!They have done an amazing job to make guests feel safe in these crazy times with seating arrangements, sanitiser & single use menus to name but a few...I had the scallops to start which I was sad to finish they were so good! Pairing them with peach was genius and they were melt in the mouth pillows of heaven. For main, I had the rack of lamb which was perfectly pink. The garlic and herb crumb with pea puree was simply joyous as an accompaniment, every mouthful was delicious.The service was every bit as good as the food. While you never felt watched, if you wanted something someone would seem to sense it and appear to take care of it.Highly enjoyable and will definitely be back!

We have been coming to the Case for years and have had many memorable nights out here including our wedding reception. This was our first visit with our children, our 27th wedding anniversary and our first outing since before lockdown so the stakes were high. As always the Case excelled - we started with cocktails in the champagne bar - a very friendly welcome and good systems in place to keep everyone safe. We then went upstairs to the restaurant and another warm welcome. All our food was delicious. We started with olives and bread, the mussels in white wine sauce and liver and bacon staters were lovely. For mains we had rack of lamb, chicken supreme and sea trout - all very well cooked and very tasty. Desserts all great too. A perfect first step back out into the world, great service and excellent food that was a real treat. Thank you.

My daughter and my self had a very enjoyable meal since lockdown was lifted, they have made a few changes inside the restaurant to adhere to new policies regarding Covid, but maintain a good service and great food.The barman made a great martini.Hope to be back soon

We visited The Case today for lunch. This was our first meal out since March and we couldn't have picked a better place. The welcome was warm-we immediately felt safe and at ease. The food was first class -my scallops were huge and just melted in the mouth. My partner had the chilli falafel which had a real kick. I had the chicken thighs in a honey mustard glaze with feta and peach salad which was fresh and tasty. My partner and mum had the beef fillet which was tasty and cooked to perfection. A great first foray back into the world of dining out and we can't wait for a repeat performance.

Visited for my Birthday, had the set menu. The carrots tasted lovely, next tagliatelle which tasted creamy and delicious, for dessert I had the lemon drizzle sponge which was light and a lovely kick of lemon zest. All in all we had a wonderful evening, would definitely recommend.

We chose from the set menu and the starters were lovely especially the carrots. My friend and I had the chicken and a side of roast potatoes. The chicken was amazing. I would like to suggest though that a little pot of the jus is served on the side as the whole dish was very dry. I probably should have asked for this as I am sure it would have been provided if I had. The staff were very attentive and friendly.I had the mille feuill for dessert and again it was very dry. It needed more cream filling and a little pot of creme anglais on the side (my friend was served a small pot of this with his frangipane and I was able to have some of it which enabled me to finish it). If these two suggestions are taken up everything would be perfect.

Scollops with pea purée and Fishcake, both perfectly cooked.Mains were okay, my Fillet was cooked okay.. not great flavour, potato rosti was disappointing, damp, wet potato... sorry.My wife’s Chicken was perfect.. from set menu.

This was a double birthday treat for 2 people in our party of 4. The evening didn't start off well, when we were rushed out of the champagne bar downstairs as quote "because they are busy, if you don't go now you might have to wait later". When we entered the room it was less than half full. However from the point we were seated the evening took a very positive turn. We had advised that two of us were Vegan and the excellent Maxine came to take our order, but not before advising us that she knew there were people wanting a Vegan diet and that there were extra dishes, not on the menu, we could chose from. She explained the dishes and then returned with a supplement to the menu, she typed herself, to save us remembering everything. All the food was excellent and when Maxine noticed a drink took a while to arrive, she delivered it herself and advised that it was on the house. Great proactive service, rarely seen in a restaurant these days. We had primed the restaurant that the there were two birthdays in the party and the promised variation to the deserts was not forthcoming when they arrived, but it could hardly be said to have ruined the evening, as everything else was so much better than expected. We look forward to returning.

We booked a table here for my Mum's 50th as a family meal out to celebrate. It is my parents' favourite restaurant in Leicester. It was my first time here and I was delighted!! The decor is stunning! Proper classy environment and so welcoming. Staff were all lovely and attentive. Service was really good until it came to us leaving. We had to ask for the bill a few times and no one cleared our plates until after we left but we were in a hurry and they were very busy. The food was incredible! Very tasty and done to perfection. Yes, it is expensive but you get what you pay for: fresh, flavoursome and well prepared and presented. Easily my new favourite place. Perfect for a special occasion.

6 of us went to the case for evening meal, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent so tasty and different. My vegan daughter had carrots different coloured ones oh boy they were great very flavoursome couldn't find a fault will be going back.

This was the first time we have eaten at The Case in quite some time. The last time the title of my review was "Great food & service, lovely restaurant so we were really looking forward to a lovely meal. We arrived early so that we could enjoy a G&T at the downstairs bar. The first sign for concern came after we had sat down and were given the menus. In a 'fine dining' restaurant such as this part of the experience is exploring the food and wine menus. The physical menu itself should represent the quality of the food and wine, in this case the food menu was printed on a standard piece of A4 paper and the wine list on a piece of folded A3 paper, neither of which were in keeping with the experience you expect at a restaurant like the case.That aside we placed our order, we both started with the Seared Scallops (£11.50), I had the Fillet of Beef main course (£26.50) and my wife had the Lamb Rump (£18.50). We also ordered a bottle of Ribero del Duero from the wine list. Whilst waiting for our starters the waitress brought some bread to the table. This is where the disappointment really began. The bread was from a pretty standard white crusty loaf, in these days when there are some fabulous artisan breads available this was poor for a restaurant of this standard. Yes, we did eat it but only because we sat down at our table at 20:15 and our starters were served at 21:00, we were hungry,We both love Scallops so were excited by the prospect of our starters. Sadly more disappointment, the dish had three Scallops, one large and two small. The larger of the three was delicious but for some reason the smaller two both lacked flavour, we both experienced this.Not too worry, we were optimistic that our main courses would save the day, we were wrong. The plates which the meals were served on were cold as were the dishes the two sides we had ordered were served in. Not a good omen! Sadly the food whilst delicious and beautifully cooked was luke warm too so unusually for me after eating two thirds of it I stopped as by then it was cold, my wife did the same. To be fair to the excellent waiter he did ask if everything was ok when he saw the plates and I explained why we hadn't finished our dishes. As a result he did knock £5.00 off the bill for both mains which was a decent gesture. As we were keen to make the most of our night out ordered two desserts accompanied by a glass of dessert wine each. Both tasty but by then the gloss had been taken off what should have been a really lovely night out and a great meal. Sadly based on this experience I don't think we will be rushing back to The Case hence my overall rating of Average.

Booked a Saturday lunch here as looking for something different to the big franchise feel of the Highcross area at the moment in Leicester. Was not disappointed.

Was in Leicester for the day and had lunch at this lovely restaurant. Had the 2 course lunch fir £14 with a really good choice of starters and mains. Could have a dessert for an additional £2.

We had our office christmas party here last week and everyone really enjoyed themselves. It was well organised, a great atmosphere, food was lovely and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend and we will be looking to book next year.

For our Christmas meal, we had a three course of starter, main and desert. The location was good, the tables and seating very 'cosy'.

Staff were friendly and attentive, but the food was not good. Food was cold and the and quantity and quality was not good and can bearly call it a dish. If I paid for it myself I would ask for my money back. Absolutely awful.

Great food in the centre of Leicester. The 3 course set lunch is always well cooked and presented but may not be to everyone's taste. The a la carte has some standard offerings but these are not as well priced as the set menu.

I celebrated my 50th Birthday in the private dining room above the restaurant. The service and attention to detail throughout the booking and preparations and the meal were excellent. The team organised the decorating and guest welcomes superbly.

I went to the Case for lunch today for the first time in several years and my friend and I both had the 3 course for £16 menu.Starter of crab and prawn tian was a bit under flavoured and had curious bits of cold cucumber which tasted like they’d been poached.Main course was bouillabaisse which was tasty but could have done with more of the liquid .Desert was rum infused caramelised pineapple according to the menu with mango gel ,coconut ice cream and berries.It was a slice of unripe pineapple with no discernible rum or caramel on it.Tiny scoop of coconut ice cream and some milk powder.Should have sent it back really but I hope the chef realises why no-one is eating the pineapple.

When we arrived in the main entrance, which was a little bar area, I started to worry. Going up the stars to the restaurant, I was pleasantly relieved. Nice room layout with well spaced tables and white table cloths. It was a very warm evening and the sliding windows were open which brought in a very nice cool breeze. Waiters were very good and the food was very, very good. As it was a special occasion and the Case has a champagne bar downstairs, we started the celebration with a bottle of Bollinger Rose that was a very reasonable price. Starters were scallops that were well presented and very good, followed by fillet steak and my wife had the duck, both of which were very good. They also had a very nice dessert menu. I would definitely go back again.

This is an excellent restaurant with a champagne/cocktail bar. Service was outstanding in both the bar and the restaurant. Cocktails were great. The portions in the restaurant were small. And my Mushroom Wellington looked a little burnt. The roast potatoes were boiled potatoes that had been in the oven for a few minutes. But that didn’t matter. It was all very tasty. The chef seems to know what he/she is doing. And the atmosphere in the former suitcase factory is great. I would definitely go back.

I reserved a table for two of my friends for their birthday to have a celebratory bottle of champagne, which resulted in 2. I had reserved a table which was ready on arrival, positioned nicely in the sun which was perfect.

I used to go to this restaurant a lot but had not been for a long time. In the past the service and food had always been very good. This time I was really disappointed. The food was overpriced and the portions were very stingy, The food was presented "nouveau cuisine " style but you could finish the starter in two or three mouthfuls. This would have been ok if the food had been full of flavour but it was dull. I had duck breast for main course. The duck breast had been sous vied then pan fried. As a result it was grey not pink and very chewy. I sent it back and was told the chef and waiter had tried it and there was nothing wrong with it! So much for the customer always being right! They told me if they cooked it again it would be the same! I ordered something different but still not impressed. Also there was little choice of wines, most of which were again overpriced. My choice was not available and I was told the wine menu was in the process of being changed. Why is that an excuse? The restaurant was nearly empty which speaks for itself. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration for my daughter. Suffice to say I will not be going back,

Lovely food, nice atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff. 3 courses for 15.00 menu amazing value. Cocktails were lovely too. A great start to a great day. Will visit again

Have been going to the Case for over 20 years and it never disappoints- we had a set lunch menu which was superb and incredibly good value for money- the wines were great and service spot on - if you would like a fantastic meal at a great price - go here...

Visited for a family meal last Saturday evening. As with most restaurants, you book for 8pm but don't get seated until you have spent money at the bar! The bar is actually quite cramped and noisy, but good selection.
