Definitely Not Italian food. Service was great but food was like eating at an English pub (nothing to do with real Italian food).

Went for first time last night. Lovely big fire place with fire on when we arrived at reception which was a lovely touch. Restaurant was warm and mostly busy. Staff were lovely very attentive but not over doing it. Food came out hot and nice . We were a large party staying here for a wedding. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, we had a couple of disabled people with us and their every need was catered for. They reserved a table at breakfast which was easy to access for a wheelchair. A member of the party had a food allergy and their breakfast was cooked separately from the others. The evening meal where 20 of us attended was outstanding, delicious Italian food. We had a fabulous evening before the wedding. The bar area is comfortable and it felt very like being at home, relaxed and enjoyable. We all commented how we would stay here again in the future.

EDIT: When the restaurant reopened a few years ago, it was a breath of fresh air versus the tired and mostly empty Marco Pierre White steakhouse. We enjoyed a couple of okay meals early on, although all had their quirks - disingenuous price changes, dish availability problems, and multiple lost bookings (the restaurant denied our bookings existed despite us having emails). Something went wrong every meal, but the food was a nice change. Gradually, though, the food has lost its appeal and the strange events weren't worth battling through. The final time we went, it culminated in Chef Lucas telling us that a carbonara was meant to be runny and tasteless - apparently that's the Lombardy take on it. Our experience, and that of our local friends, is that the customer is always wrong at Sapori Di Casa. Yateley desperately needs a good Italian restaurant - this isn't, currently, it.

Visited here last night, a party of 8, for an 80th. The staff were perfect, officious not overbearing yet very attentive. The food was below par, plenty of it but that is not always a good thing, especially when the spaghetti, looks like it has been tipped out of tin with a little grated Parmesan on top. The breaded chicken (schnitzel) was a tad chewy, and half a packet of rocket, or as they call it on their printed menu ‘rocked’ for garnish. No prizes for presentation, a toddler could have done a better job. The cheesecake, however, was delicious, and plentiful, lovely texture. Not sure the ‘Denby’ style crockery styled the food advantageously, white linen, white/light crockery. Atmosphere is always a difficult one, immediately you are greeted by… The outside of the building, it is a tip, old pods full of broken furniture dumped in the bushes in the access leading from the overflow car park, so you have to walk pass them on your entrance, not attractive, uneven roads leading from overflow car park which are not well lit, I am surprised there haven’t been any insurance claims yet! The covered seating area by the patio doors, was a mess, unwelcoming, not lit, faux plants that have seen better days, absolutely no ambience. Then you walk into the bar area, cosy/cramped, cleanish but no appeal, the back room for staying guests, the pink tables need a good scrub down or repainting, most of the art on the wall, does not fit the Italian them, lower lighting needed to add to the end of the night feel. Toilets need attention, not dated, just attention. Haven’t a clue what the rooms are like, although four of our party were staying in them! So back to atmosphere, if you are with people you love and want to be with, you could be in a shed, and have the best evening ever…but the difference is you aren’t paying to eat in a shed in the middle of a tip! I last visited here 10 years previously when owned by Marco Pierre White, the only thing that has changed is the interior is lighter. I would be ashamed to have my name attached to this business, as the owners, or the chef! The chef can create the meals but he needs to be cooking them or watching over those that do. The perfect surrounding…the beamed building is what it is but the mess surrounding the building is unacceptable, and would take very little man power to cure, if you don’t want the pods sell them, take the broken chairs to the tip, it truly is that simple. And have enough staff to maintain the outside seating areas, so they look like they are in use, not derelict. And lighting, inside and out for safety and ambience. If you can’t afford the business…don’t run it! My final words, had I not been an invited guest, I would have walked away as soon as I saw the mess by the rear entrance to the main restaurant. And I would not be coming back, which probably is a good thing. Remember, this is my own personal opinion, I would not say I had the highest of standards but a place has to feel loved, and this was not loved, I not sure it was even liked .

Bit of a mixed bag. The hotel was nice and the restaurant staff were nice, the price was fine, but somehow serving me up some raw mussels for my starter (the shells were open but inside they were frozen in ice - not sure how someone even managed that, I guess they were maybe cooked at an earlier time and frozen but then not defrosted fully before serving?) was not good and spoilt the meal - not ideal to have to worry about potential food poisoning the day before a wedding. At least they apologised and the guy took them away no problem in exchange for something else. The rest of the meal was decent though. Just a shame as mussels are my favourite and it put me right off!

We went for dinner and an overnight stay as although we live locally, we've often passed this place and wondered what it was like. It was disappointing; no atmosphere in the restaurant at all, felt awkward trying to have a conversation without the other (max 15) people in the restaurant overhearing us. Some background music at least would have been nice. Food was pleasant but nothing to write home about so felt overpriced. Decent wine was ridiculously expensive even for a MPW restaurant! The staff (ladies) behind the bar & at reception were lovely and welcoming. The hotel room was very clean and looked as though it had recently been refurbished. No breakfast included and at £15 a head, based on the night before's dinner, we gave it a miss and went to the local cafe! I don't think I'd go again which is a shame as I think it has a lot of potential. Perhaps reduce the prices, get some more people through the door and create a better ambience otherwise this restaurant will surely fail to bring in repeat business.

Had heard mixed reviews about the Casa but glad we tried it as the food really is of the best quality , rump of lamb was fabulous as was the monkfish tail. Two things that stop the Casa getting a five is the shabby entrance hall waiting to get a drink , this needs a good paint and upgrade - also the table layout is not very intimate and could be much more feng shui. We visited here just before Christmas for a meal as a thank you to a friend and her husband.I picked this restaurant as i thought it would be somewhere a little bit special, Wow how wrong you can be!For Hors D’Ouevre i had the Twice Baked Goats Cheese Soufflé, this was horrible, tasteless and glued my mouth together, main meal I played it safe and had the Sirloin Steak which was nice but nothing special, we skipped puddings but asked for two Tia Maria coffee's and Two Rum coffee's, big mistake! We were charged £88 for four coffee's, not sure how they could possibly justify £22 for a coffee when we queried the price the waiter said they had double shots in them which we did not ask for, i am happy enough to pay a little bit above average for good food and understand this is a A Le Carte restaurant but not for coffee and believe that if they are going to charge £22 for a floater coffee the price should be listed on the menu.As for service we felt rushed, the gentlemen in our party were served before the ladies and it was a struggle to get a smile or conversation out of anyone. We will not be returning!

I attended a work Christmas party here. There was no signage to direct people to where the function was being held. A glass of some sort of alcohol was offered to us at the entrance - I don't drink, but I did hear other people comment it wasn't very nice (too sweet/tart).I opted for the Mushroom soup with artisan crouton for starter - the "crouton" was attached to the bowl with some mashed potato, most probably instant. I didn't enjoy it, and left most of it. Bread rolls were left on our tables before we sat down so were cold.I then chose the turkey for the main course - the turkey was dry, and I noticed that my plate didn't have any carrots, and the roast potatoes weren't very roasted. The sage and onion stuffing was tasty though, and there were gravy boats to top up the gravy on the plate.I chose the sticky toffee pudding option for dessert which I thought was the best part of the meal, although the portion of ice cream served on the side was stingy. We were offered tea or coffee with mince pies to end the meal. The person who appeared to be managing the event was pompous. On top of this, I know that my colleagues who organised the party for our office encountered issues with the planner when an email didn't "arrive".

There was no log fire, the bar was cold and not enough staff. The restaurant looked tatty, windows filthy, the carpet was disgusting. Not the £80 pp ambience we were expecting. The food was nothing special. The turkey was dry and the cold Christmas pudding was so stodgy we couldn't eat it. We decided not to take it out on the staff but will return next week to speak to the manager. Frankly, will never eat there again. So sad as it was a special family Christmas celebration.

Visited as a family group of eight for a birthday evening meal. My wife and I have eaten here some years ago and had several fantastic meals out. Our visit on this evening was very disappointing, so much so that we probably will not return even though its close to us. The starters we good and we were well looked after at the beginning. However as the night progressed things went down hill. Most of us had one of a couple of steaks on the menu. What I had was akin to a beefeater steak, tough and burnt even though I asked for medium rare. The waitress stood a little away from our table constantly watching us, which was a bit uncomfortable. The head waiter was cheeky with his comments at first, a little banter perhaps, but became rude as the night went on. So after leaving some steak on both my sons plate and mine, we were asked if we wanted desert, I asked what the cheeses were. The waitress who had given us so much attention went off to find out what was available, coming back to the table the response was, some sort of Blue cheese, Parmesan, and two others, one of which I think is like Cheddar, I love cheese and often have the cheesed board after a meal, however on this occasion I gave it a wide berth, (Parmesan on a cheese board?). Did I complain...no...and only because it was my birthday treat being paid for by the family and I didn't want to cause a fuss.If it had been my wife and I and I was paying the bill, I would have raised my issues at the time.

The scones were burnt in the middle , reheated in the microwave, and very flat and difficult to cut into. The teapot was cracked. The decor was sadly dated ( someone had tried to brown wood stain over the electric socket and the middle tap in the ladies wobbled around). More concerning the table next to ours were served ham sandwiches and the lady was saying loudly that she had informed them she was Muslim on the telephone when she booked. It wasn't a good experience. The voucher was a present for my guest and I had to apologise for taking them there!

Yes turkey.. we were told that they no longer had any turkey but only beef! Disapointed was an understatement. Suddenly we were told there was turkey, however this looked to be just the left overs from the leg and not very appealing! The waiters were trying their best and it clearly was not their fault. They offered us free drinks but as we had pre paid we had no leg to stand on regarding getting our money back, we asked to see the Hotel Manager but they never appeared and the poor Restaurant Manager had to take all the flack! Works Christmas Do for 25 ish people. Menu looked good and we pre-ordered our choices, however on the night the food was disappointing. Salmon starter was ok, but not amazing. Those who chose the soup said it was lovely. Main course Christmas dinner was not very hot and very little veg. Plenty of meat though. Others who chose the fish were also disappointed as it didn't come with much else. We eagerly anticipated the dessert but were again a little disappointed. The pear tart was sort of deconstructed. The pear tasted more like peach and the pastry was overcooked. Those who chose the panacotta said it was curdled and the ju/compote was dried on to the plate. Nobody finished their dessert. We were given a mini mince pie with our coffee and to be honest, that was the highlight of the food. A little disappointing considering Marco Pierre White has put his name to the place. Was all ok, but not worth the £30. Nice venue though and would return to see what it is like with a smaller group as understandably large groups at Christmas are harder to cater for.

Visited The Casa on the 7th December (Sunday) for lunch with friends soaking up the Marco glamour, tasteful decor, separate bar very cosy but chic none the less, beautifully appointed restaurant, serving staff professional and polite, though clearly flushed and under pressure as the dining room was busy. Good menu choice but fringing on the pricey even for a celebrity chef. The food was simply excellent one of those satisfying moments good portions, uncluttered presentation, not a foam in sight just good honest fayre. After dining pricing seemed more reasonable and set price is a great format as is two course option as three courses left us bursting.Would definitely recommend.

Six of my friends took me for Afternoon Tea today (26th October 2014) as a celebration for my 50th Birthday. Lovely setting, polite staff, good quality champagne and fabulous scones. However, the quantity of sandwiches per person was very poor. The fillings were okay but not exceptional. We had to ask for more tea as it wasn't offered. Not overly impressed.

The initial attraction to stay and "eat in" was the prospect of Marco Pierre White cooking - we had previously tried his cuisine onboard a cruise ship and enjoyed it so much we wanted another experience. This time was equally as good and the very attentive staff further enhanced our two excellent meals.

Great menu and wine list! The food was very well presented, served promptly and tasted great. The wine list had some interesting wines and was competitively priced. We'll be returning!

Food very poor, sandwiches bland and not enough filling. Jam just runny coloured water, ran off knife and not enough of it. Should have been clotted cream, and more of it. A one inch cake each was a laugh. It also included a very small trifle about three to four inches high and very narrow. Staff were however, very attentive. Would not go again. Speaking to other people in Yateley, a lot of them would not go either having heard about it.

Although now they take the Taste Card it is much more likely that we will go mid week for supper! A lovely setting and good service makes this an excellent choice especially if you live locally!

We decided a couple of days previously to have afternoon tea on Sunday and a friend recommended this place which is very close to our home in Camberley. I also went through the Afternoon Tea web site and it seemed a reasonable price compared to some pretty exhorbitant offerings.Anyway it was very nice experience sitting on the patio while we were served a very fine tea indeed. Finger sandwiches included smoked salmon and rare roast beef as well cheese and an egg salad . generous helping and very fresh nice sandwiches.Onto the sweet stuff , very nice home made scones with really thick clotted cream and strawberry jam , some delicious minature fruit tarts which managed to cram five different fruits onto a delicate little tart and if that was not enough a slice of very rich but very nice chocalate tart.Service was very good , although I could see why some people might have criticisied it in the context of a special dinner , but for tea it was friendly and we were well looked after. The price, £50 for three, was excellent considering what you can pay for this special treat and as explained above a very good quality tea was provided.if I have a criticism it is not unique to this place. Why can you not get a decent cup of tea in England. Is it the water , The tea, that my daughter and I had Earl gray and my wife English Breakfast was Ok but not up to the standard of the food.. I am an occasional drinker but my wife is a regular drinks alot and her ranking of tea , as a drink at the moment is England at 4 , France at 3, Germany at 2 and Czech Republic at No1 in terms of the quality of tea in cafes this year..Anyway well done to tha Casa, a lovely Sunday treat

This was our first experience of a Wheelers 'celebrity chef' restaurant. We enjoyed the occasion overall, but were a little disappointed. We were expecting that it would be fairly pricy given the supposed status of the restaurant but it didn't quite live up to expectations: the food was good but not exceptional, the dining room was not special and the service was very informal. This may be because it was inside a hotel and was catering for the guests as well. We did enjoy the food though and the portions were a reasonable size.

I arranged a table for 4 to celebrate a small family achievement. I would describe the attitude of the staff to be sloppy and too laid back. The restaurant manager had an open necked shirt and the mostly foreign staff suffered from a distinct lack of training. We have to ask for our wine glasses to be topped up, ask for condiments, bread and every request was just too much effort. My brother in law's rare steak was medium to well done and the food I would describe as adequate. When the bill of £290 was presented there was no apology or recompense which lead to a complaint from me. I decided to pay the slightly reduced bill but without service. We are local residents and will not go there again. Finally, we do not like being called 'guys'.

Service, quality and price. Staff need more training, too laid back and had to repeatedly ask for table service. Food only adequate. At £75 a head, one would expect 5* service not 1*

Our first visit to wheelers restaurant and hotel..we both enjoyed our meal thoroughly. The dining room is little cramped and could benefit from an uplift otherwise waiter service was professional and prompt.. Recommend to anyone for special occasions..caution drinks are over priced. We stayed overnight and we were upgraded. Breakfast was also lovely. Room was clean and tidy bathroom and had nice view of garden. Thank you Casa.

The hotel itself is very poor indeed. The decor is very tired, the rooms are small and scruffy and there was mould in the bathroom, bare wires sticking out of the wall and just generally felt dirty. The attitude of the staff was poor and everything was too much trouble ! The restaurant made up for it somewhat, although we expected far more from a MP White restaurant. Chalk it up to experience and chalk it off the list for ever returning. By the way, we e mailed the hotel afterwards to express our disappointment and never heard back (not surprised).

But then it got better. We have been going to this restaurant for many years before they bought into The Wheelers concept. We liked the atmosphere and the menu, but, yes it had become very tired and needed a refurb. When we heard about the new restaurant now called The Casa we had to give it a try. We went to the opening and we were very impressed with the make over. The decor was spot, even for a room with old Oak beams and a full log fire, it worked. As it was a set menu we were agreeably impressed and enjoyed our first foray to this new age for The Casa. We have been back several times, in fact we visit 3 or 4 times a year and after the opening things did not go too well. The portions were very small though perfectly cooked and the atmosphere was tense. Gradually however things have improved and the restaurant is a cheerful place to visit. We would recommend, though it is expensive. If it is for a special occasion, then it is well worth it because the service and the ambiance are excellent as is the food.

This is a first, I've never reviewed a Hotel whilst still in it. I stay in hotels at least 2 nights a week with work. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are terrible, I can accept tired, worn, dated, antique but not dirty.Stained pillows, mould & serviceable electrical items & poor internet connection. Very poor. However, I found the staff lovely, the food good & service acceptable.Such a shame whoever holds the purse strings is as tight as a ducks backside.I would bring the gardener inside & sack the maintenance/ cleaning team.I shall not stay here again....ever.

Parts of the hotel dated in need of a refurb. Our visit was spoilt by the air condition/heating breaking down on the first night. An electric heater was already insitu leading you to believe this was not a first time. A window would not close or lock hence letting in outside noise and cold air. The towel rail did not work for the whole of our stay not fun trying to dry off with cold damp towels. On the first day they ran out of breakfast unacceptable for a hotel of this calibre. Second night a group of guest decided to have a party in the corridor near our room. We were unable to get any answer when dialling down to reception to complain and did not want to walk down through the party to complain. We discussed our problems when checking out next day and told no management was available to speak to and we would have to email him. Our room upgrade was removed from our bill but did not make up for our bad experience.

We had a deal that included an overnight stay and dinner!! We were not expecting 5 star service but would have expected there to a table for us in the Restaurant as it was a dinner & overnight stay package!!! The Receptionist was very offish and said that we should have been asked at time of booking what time we wanted to eat!!! which we were not!! so they could only offer us 6pm or 9.30pm for dinner, we had only checked in at 5pm so it was all a bit of a rush to eat at 6pm as 9.30pm was too late for us!! We ended up eating off the main menu where we had to pay an extra £20 per head. Limit choice of Rose wines on the menu so settle for a Rose Chablis for £40!! Our food was ok but nothing spectacular. The tables in the restaurant were very close together and one of the waiters had a jacket on so we had to hold onto our wine glasses everytime he served the tables next to us as he nearly knocked them over!!! We felt very rushed with our meal, the staff seemend very impatient and rushed us!! We paid extra for an upgrade to our room but I do not know what our upgrade conisisted of!!! our Room was very dark, bathroom was tatty and the grout round the tiles was all stained and mouldy, all tiles and showerhead were covered in limescale. Unfortunately I will not be recommending The Casa to any one I know!!!

Back at the end of October I decided that it would be nice to go out for Christmas dinner for a change and save all the time spent cooking and clearing afterwards. There were just of us all family and thought that Marco Pierre White spelled quality food and surroundings. How wrong could I be. I paid £80 per person not including any drinks in advance, so £320.00.Christmas day arrived and we arrived on time we waited 15 minutes for our first drink and were then shown to our table in the supposedly posh restaurant with served food not the buffet room with entertainment (which was considerably cheaper). We were seated at the far end of an add on room with the dirtiest sliding patio doors I have ever seen, completely filthy. Just the right of our table which was shoved against the fake wood panels, was a fire extinguisher and high chairs for babies. Oh well we though food should be good. NO.oooooooo.The food was bad. The soup starter was not too bad but only as good as a good brand from the supermarket. The turkey dinner arrived. Barely warm and totally tasteless except for hot overpowering nasty gravy all over the top. After ordering a bottle of still water and waiting 1 hour that was it. We all got up and went out to complain, abandoning any thought of dessert. The waiter was shocked especially when I told him my Birdseye TV turkey dinner that I'd had a couple of weeks earlier was by far superior. The whole place is run down and if that is the standard of food well we definitely wont be going back or recommend it to anyone.

This place is like a Jackel and Hyde, it's has a fab Marco Pierre restaurant with lovely food great service from all the staff and then you have the ageing hotel with outdated poor quality rooms, horrible uncomfortable beds, showers with no decent flow of water which takes ten minutes to warm up besides the noise of water everytime,I think another toilet or shower is used in the hotel, I didn't sleep all night? The second time I have stayed, enforced by a company prebooked course, with the same experience. Drive straight by useless you just want a nice meal

My wife took me as a birthday treat andthe experience proved to be one of extremes. We arrived mid afternoon and our room was nice. When we went down to dinner, the service was really good in both the bar and the restaurant. The food was superb, leaving us feeling replete and very satisfied. The morning however was a different experience with a seriously understaffed breakfast area. They even sat another couple on our table whilst we were getting our breakfast from the buffet. Overall it was a good night away but they need to organise the morning service better.
