We had a couple of family meals at this pub during our stay in Cornwall last week. They have a good pub menu including some vegetarian dishes and really reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Really recommend this for a family meal

Visited the Carbeile Inn for Father’s Day. We had a carvery, it was very tasty I can’t complain about the food at all. However…. the blonde older woman with short hair is vile. The way she spoke to the young girls is disgusting and I was so shocked I nearly intervened. No professionalism whatsoever shouting at her staff in front of the customers who are trying to dish up their carvery. Shame that the woman is horrible else I would have come back.

Visited on a Wednesday evening with my young nephew whilst visiting family. Plenty of seating inside and out, and lots of shelter and shade if choose to sit outside. Very friendly service, everything brought out to us, and ability to order drinks from table via QR code. Ordered halloumi burger which was a huge chunk of well cooked halloumi with chips, salad and coleslaw, and my nephew had fish and chips with peas. A very popular local pub, and filled up quickly on a Wednesday night as they had bingo on too! Would recommend and will return when down again.

We have been going here for a while and for the most part the food for a carvery is great but on occasion we have seen the owners be rude to other customers. So today I took my older son and his girlfriend for their first time. We got called up to collect our food where the lady owner was serving the food. I was given my meat I had ordered and began to pick my roast potatoes, maybe two/three more then the average person only to hear the owner say in a rude manner “and that’s why we are having to keep replacing the potato’s!” Then began to talk while giving me dirty looks! She’s an old battle axe and we won’t be going again.

Despite being our local pub and visited many times, we have decided as a family will never set foot in the establishment again. Keep a long story short, myself partner and 3 young kids went to the Carbeille inn for a couple drinks and games of pool. At not point where we made aware under 14’s where not aloud to play on the pool table. The man (Owner) come over and in the most rude and disrespectful manor told our kids they are not aloud to play on the pool table and explained in a very rude and inappropriate way to 3 young kids the reasons why. Making them all and myself feel very uncomfortable and upset. Natural we told our kids to stop playing and handed the cues back. And stepped out side with our kids feeling very upset and quite distressed about the way he had spoken to us as a family. Myself and partner decided it’s better to make him aware of his manor and rudeness and politely approached him and asked for 2 secs of his time. To be meant with the response of “What do you want” Myself trying to explain that I understand the reason for kids being again to use the table and I can only apologise. Was again meant with another rude response “So what do you want from me” I simple asked if he could apologise to our kids again in rude and aggressive manor said “No, no chance” Realising he was a very immature gentleman and would not take responsibility for upsetting 3 young kids turned around and said to my family “Right come on let’s go. He followed us out as if a bodyguard and slammed the pub door on us. Although this may appear a small and inconvenient situation. This and similar situations have happened many times to us and our friend’s family’s. And we typically let it go because our kids love the food the play area it’s great in the summer for small Meet ups with friends, but unfortunately 2-3-4 times this has happened and we can no ignore it again, and have decided to find another local pub to enjoy family evenings together from know on and will Be advising all not to go there simple due to the male owner, he along complete ruined that place, generally if he wasn’t there this review would be complete different.

The staff are charming, welcoming & helpful. The Carvery is most enjoyable. Our group's Puds, sadly, were disappointing. The meringue was dry & tasteless with the barest scraping of cream (try Woogie's equivalent! 😋). The ginger sponge was apparently stodgy, bland & had no discernible hint of ginger. The velvet mousse pud apparently tasted 'furry' & unpleasant. Two of our party left theirs. I suspect that The Carbeile are in no way to blame for these disappointing Puds, however, as it is common for Pubs & Restaurants to buy in their Puds ready made. I will certainly return for the Carvery! 👍

I have to say the food was excellent, haven’t been here for years and I live local, took visiting family from London and Newcastle, so I was a bit dubious after all the negative reviews, but thought give it a go, and we were not disappointed, food was top notch, lovely atmosphere, and very busy so took a while to get our food but worth the wait. Waitresses were very friendly and rushed off their feet, the garden area is perfect for families and children. And also disabled access. What a wonderful evening we had. Thank you.

So I live locally and have regularly been here for food and don’t get me wrong, love a Carvery there and never had many issues with food. However, the staff member Emma (as it came up on the till with, dark hair quite small) has the worst attitude ever. Not only was she almost in a looking down at you attitude, she also cannot clearly take complaints very well. We ordered a Hot chocolate fudge cake and a sticky toffee pudding, which had come out with cold custard for one and the chocolate cake was freezing cold. We then went up and apologised and said it was cold. She then very abruptly told us it can’t be cold because “it’s very clearly melted” I told her to feel the cake if she wanted but it was in fact cold. She then snatched them off of us after basically shouting at us that it had been heard up and then went on to start shouting about us in the kitchen about how we were being fussy and how she did tell us it was warm, she then went on to very angrily slamming everything around and putting our food into the microwave. It then came out the cake being slightly warmer and the custard being okay heat wise (no apology from her may I add) We thought then it will be fine, we’ll eat and go… Nope. We then had one of the owners (Steve’s wife, unsure of name. Maybe carol) come out and walk past us very obviously looking across at us after having spoken to the waitress, then whispering to Steve and to this Steve looked over at me across the room asking if I’m okay making a thing of it. I said yes and carried on as we didn’t want to make We then went to the till to pay for our food, to be greeted by both carol and the waitress stood together very obviously complaining about us as when we came around the corner they suddenly were very quiet, carol then walked past us looking down her nose at both of us to then the waitress said it’s okay I’ll sort it. I am not usually one to put in a complaint, but to be argued with and made out to be in the wrong for saying my order isn’t what I ordered in my opinion is just down right rude. It is also not the only issue I have had with her as she is very well known by the community speaking to others to be someone with a horrendous attitude problem. I’d like to say she might of had a bad day but it seems to be even if it is a little issue it’s a big issue for her and she makes customers feel uncomfortable and does not know quite frankly at all how to actually treat customers in the right way.

After deciding not to cook a roast dinner ourselves my wife and I decided to go for a carvery at The Carbeile Inn and I've got to say it was nothing short of outstanding. My wife had the beef & turkey and I had the pork & turkey and all meats were cooked to perfection. There was plentiful in the selection of potatoes and vegetables as well as the usual trimmings of Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, crackling, sauces and gravy. All the food was as hot as it should be, cooked perfectly and tasted as good as it looked. I would definitely recommend the Sunday carvery at The Carbeile Inn to anybody. 👌 😋😋

Nicely decorated but poor service and food. Food took ages to come out despite it being quiet and heard other tables moaning about it too. When the food came out, the chips were stone cold on one of the meals. Another meal had a barely warm jacket potato. We ordered extra cheese on the jacket potato and there was nothing there. Tou know when you grate cheese, the little strands you get? Had about 3 of them! Overall very disappointed and won't be returning which is a shame because its a nice ambiance

Staff were helpful to start with with directing to table and drinks, though there was no communication over having to have an outside door open in a room, with them having sat quite a few other families in there too, making the room unpleasant and cold. From this the staff ended up pretty rude to us as we didn't know the door had to be kept open so we and the other families in the room kept closing the door. I understand needing ventilation but being seated next to an open door in the middle of winter dies not make a pleasant and enjoyable visit.p

So I'm going to be honest I don't really do reviews but this one is totally warranted and forgive me if I go on! I booked us in for boxing day - not really knowing what the deal was as its changed hands again! But OMG we had the best time ever and will be going back again and again. So to start - yes its very safe and I was asked if I checked in and sanitised which I had and I was also asked if me and my family were a covid safe group and yes we are. The staff were second to none and did everything they could - nothing was any trouble at all and believe me my family have a few demands. We had the carvery and we all said it was the best we'd ever had. That is the truth. And ill be honest again, I cook a flipping good roast but I'm not beating that one, it was incredible. I couldn't even try to fault a single thing. Shocking but very true we also took a couple of meals to take away for my daughter and my brother who are carers and working through. You know what they couldn't do enough to pack up food to take away - just a case of let us know when you're ready. I didn't say they're care workers but if I had I think the new owners would have had a say. So the new owners were floating around and looking after everyone - unobtrusively. This one (that would be me)pounces on the family and blah blah blah talks to them all after several malbecs and do you know what - they really are lovely genuine people. So I guess my review is (and let's agree here i said it would be long winded (I know myself ffs)) if I can give 5 out f 5 I'm giving it a big fat fluffy 10 With sparkles - I like sparkles xxx

Me and my boyfriend visited a couple of weeks ago for the Sunday Carvery, along with my dog. My boyfriend was being tested for a gluten intolerance at the time so we checked ahead what he could have. Was told we could ask for Vegetarian Gravy. However we asked for it and after waiting 20-minutes, decided we best eat our meal before it went cold. Was disappointed but not the end of the world.Returned tonight, boyfriend now confirmed to not have a gluten intolerance. I needed the toilet so boyfriend ordered us two burgers, just with chicken and bacon. Both arrived with cheese. I told the waitress I didn’t want the cheese and was told to scrape it off. She came back with sauces and I told her I wanted a new one. Her attitude stank and I was told I’d have to wait as the kitchen was busy. I said that was fine. 2 minutes later my burger came and we started to eat (this waitress was lovely). The one with the attitude came back and told me they weren’t sure what they were doing about the bill as my boyfriend definitely ordered cheese. I stared and said it doesn’t even state cheese on the menu and that I wouldn’t be paying for it. I got a tut and an eye roll as she walked away.Such a shame because the food was lovely. However we decided to not have dessert and got some ice-cream from the Spar up the road instead. The tables around us were also struggling to get service so it definitely wasn’t just us struggling. There was a big table of about 12 in the middle who clearly had all the staffs attention. The table next to me asked us how we ordered food as they had been waiting a while. Won’t be giving it a third chance unfortunately.

I decided to book a table a week in advance for 22 people as I had family visiting. We weren't given much time to settle let alone look at the menu. The waitresses seemed in a rush to get the orders in. The starters were a hit or miss. The ribs that came out looked like they had been microwaved with minimal sauce. The cheese jalapeño peppers were dark brown from the old oil they had been fried in. The mains were terrible! Home made chips were too thin and burnt. The steak and blue cheese looked more like cheese on toast! The chicken bacon and bbq sauce was burnt. The gammon egg and chips was a shambles and the presentation... Well my kids could do better.I was horrified and embarrassed that a local business that I have used before could be such a shambles. I did tell the staff when paying that we were not happy and a apology was given with the remark I did think something wasn't right. I shall not be recommending or be dining here again.

My wife's sister booked this inn for their Mother's 80th birthday. We had driven over 5 hours to be here. Firstly we tried to deliver a balloon to put on the table when we arrived. My wife knocked, there was a lady inside who totally ignored her, so my wife phoned. Upon answering, she was told that they didn't open until 12pm. All we wanted to do was drop a balloon off! Eventually, and grudgingly, said balloon was delivered. When we arrived, the lady behind the bar was very welcoming (the only reason I have given 2 stars) because, beyond this point, it went downhill very quickly. Even though they have a large dining room, seven of us were stuck in a back room on uncomfortable chairs, there was nothing special laid on, you know, the PERSONAL touch knowing this was an 80th birthday meal. Our order was taken, and subsequently cocked up three times! How hard is it to order one small carvery, five large, one nut roast and one gammon?? Whilst everyone went to get their carvery, my meal arrived, which consisted of, gammon, egg, no garnish, not even a handful of peas, and french fries that were so old and obviously cooked in very old fat that they were dark brown and disgusting. I sent my meal back immediately. My Mother in Law's so called called Nut Roast was a pile of what looked like left over stuffing. A young helper arrived ten minutes after my meal had been taken back asking if I wanted curly fries (evidently they had run out of last night's french fries). Ye sure, anything as long as I could eat my very plain meal along with everyone else! My wife said it was one of the dullest carveries she has ever eaten - she loves Yorkshire Pudding but hers was left on the side for fear it would actually break the plate it was that hard! My curly fries were not much better, with very tough, salty gammon. Everything had the air that it had been last night's food blasted in a microwave. Dessert was another trial altogether. Staff had no idea what the crumble was, then when it finally arrived it came with ice cream and - cream. No custard?? Sponge pudding was dry and tasteless. Plates were not cleared for a very long time, then, when they were, only half were collected. No sorry, no special touch, you'd have thought that management would have at least gave Mother in Law a free drink or something, then again, they thought it was a 90th! Very bad service, awful food, awful location stuffed in a back room for what should have been a very special occasion. As stated, the only reason I have added a star (from the lowest I can of 1 star) is the welcome we recieved from the barmaid when we walked in. We don't visit Torpoint that often, but when we do, after a gruelling 6 hour journey, we definitely won't be visitng The Carbeile again!

what can i say, my experience was completely negative. Firstly we phoned ahead because of my wifes allergy to shellfish. They told it its fine, dont worry we will take care of that. She ordered a mature cheddar burger , which they refused to serve coleslaw, fries or anything else with, (because they were not sure of cross contamination!) and yet still charged us full price for her meal. I ordered the everything burger which consisted of a single slice of overcooked bacon, a greasy egg and a clearly reheated burger.Garden consists of a faded kids area which was dirty, and not fit for purpose. Now heres the best part, i personally witnessed two young males sniffing coke in the toilets, who THEN threatened both myself, my brother, and anyone else going into the toilets. Clearly the local rumours about this place are true, its now being frequented by low life drug users, and should be avoided by any decent people at all costs.

When we visited although there was good on the carvery we were told we could only order from the main menu. This was ok by us as plenty of choice. Mains ordered but when arrived the veg was completely inedible, we mentioned this to the staff who confirmed it was the left overs off the carvery. They brought fresh veg out for us eventually. But, my suggestions would be that if ordering from the main menu the veg should automatically be fresh and not left overs as if we had visited on a day the carvery was not on then they would have had to serve fresh. Although it was rectified it slightly spoilt what would have been a pleasant meal.

I was a little let down by the food served here, this is due to the lack of extras on the plate and the temperature of the meals. What you see on the menu is what you get - by this I mean Gammon and Chips, so I would expect peas, mushrooms or grilled tomato. No you only get gammon and chips! Served on cold plates, or maybe left in the kitchen too long before service, not sure which. But this meant that by the time I had finished my meal it was very cool to say the least. I have had better food here, sorry but just not on form for me on this occasion.

I live locally and have seen various landlords come and go (even worked for one of them in the 1980's) and it's a real shame that it never quite reaches it's full potential. It's in a great location with a lovely beer garden, ideal for families and perfect if you just want a few drinks (bit expensive) and somewhere for the kids to play. The interior is clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful when they remember you're there - it's just a shame that the menu promises and doesn't quite deliver (have eaten here four times in the past few months and each time was more disappointing than the last - but we lived in hope) and there is a noticeable lack of atmosphere. We would love to make this a regular haunt as it is a short walk away from us and the setting is ideal, but we always walk away feeling as though we have wasted our time and money and could have gone elsewhere for a nicer evening. Sadly we won't be returning to give the place another chance - it's missed the mark once too often.

We all booked for our sons passing passing out parade for a couple of days.we were met by a middle aged woman stinking of alcohol and looking dishevelled who showed us to our rooms.when entering rooms we noticed how shabby and worn they were, mattresses stained and bedding with marks on them. We found a variety of body fluids in the bathrooms and short and curlys pretty much everywhere. We didnt have time to find somewhere else and went to the parade.returning hours later we had the unfortunate experience of the in house food which they advertize as freshly cooked. What we ordered came out cold, obviously from frozen and cheap ingredients which i wouldnt give to my dog let alone my wife, kids and parents. It was hugely overpriced, dirty, and overall an unpleasant experience, iv been allover the world but this pub/hotel was prob the worst place iv ever visited. We ended up staying at a bnb in plymouth that was excellent, cheaper and the staff were really helpful with our needs.

Beautiful, warm late summer early afternoon. Decided to eat on the terrace under a giant parasol. Two of us chose chicken and bacon with pepper sauce & fries, one had a bowl of chowder and I had deep-fried baby squid. We shared a chilled bottle of Red Fox rosé and ambled our way through the food with plenty of dialogue. Two of us had wicked desserts, and after a very civilised three hours at table we upped sticks and freewheeled down to the ferry and home. Very few fellow diners although a couple of pairs came for a bevvy, and some families in the garden. This really is the ideal venue for not-so-energetic old farts to while away the day in an all-day inn. Landlady was as usual available for a chat, and one day we just might succeed in same with the landlord..............Celebration was in the wake of exceptionally happy news from our financial adviser on our investments interest in the last half-year!

My salad came looked amazing unfortunately once I started digging into the salad there were the dreaded peppers!A waitress came to ask if our meals were ok I stated I was disappointed as I stated no peppers she couldn't have cared less just said "oh sorry" as if by rote and turned on her heel and left!If the salad is pre made with peppers then that should have been stated at time of ordering so I could have had the opportunity to change my orderThe rest of our meal was lovely and credit where it is due. Please give them a try and don't let the glitch put you off.

Booked a table late on Saturday (18:55) for 13 of us to sit down at 19:30 due to a mix up with eating somewhere else. Couple of alarm bells rang at this point about the ability to get a table for 13 at 30 minutes notice - would it be any good etc. etc. There was no need to worry at all, outside play area for the kids to run around in, nice environment, very friendly staff and great food. I had the sirloin steak which was cooked exactly as I ordered with homemade chips (very nice) and salad. All in all, a good main course and just the right amount on the plate. Dessert was the Hot Chocolate pudding with cream and ice cream - again very good. 6 of us had ordered the hot chocolate pudding and the waitress came back to say that unfortunately there were only 3 portions left so would the other 3 like to order something else, we were in the middle of deciding when another waitress came out and said it was Ok as the Chef was going to quickly make up some more. Excellent service in my view, a few extra minutes to wait but well worth it for the freshly made hot chocolate pudding! Great value as well, 13 of us had mains, drinks and about 8 had desserts – came to £13 each, really good value and good, fresh food. Will definitely visit again and would recommend to anybody to go and try the Carbielle Inn.

The worst meal we have ever had. Curry was microwaved to a point the rice lifted up in one chunk and had to be cut apart. Also very strange to serve salad on a piping hot plate with a curry. The whole grain mustard mash with the sausages was lumpy and drowned in gravy (obviously cooked in a microwave). Everything was over cooked and bland. The waitress checked if everything was ok with our food before we had even started eating then stood behind the bar so we were unable to grab her attention. The manager walked past our hardly eaten plates and chose to let the young waitress deal with it instead. When we complained, we got no response from the manager or the chef. We had to go to the bar to speak to the manager who obviously didn't care. I wish we had walked out instead of paying over £60 for a microwaved meal.

Arrived here at 16.00 with my friend and three kids. No one was at the bar so we continued to wait for at least ten minutes. We did wonder if the place was meant to be open. Finally when the bar man arrived we said that it was very quiet. His answer was Yeh the lunchtime rush have just all gone. All at the same time?! So we ordered. 5 minutes later the meals came out. I'm so glad I didn't order anything other than scampi and chips. All wedged on to smaller plates and looks like I had prepared it myself and not a chef?. Kids ordered chicken 'goujons ' with chips on a very small plate. I say goujons lightly as they were almost like aldi's frozen chicken pop chicken. My friend ordered gammon and chips. Gammon was not a normal sized slice more like a thick bacon slice. She could not eat all of it as it wasn't nice and tasted uncooked. Chips tasted strange too. When the nice waitress came to the table she asked if was all ok. We said ok? But why is there a dried up tube of pasta in with the chips? The waitress laughed. I believe the bar manager came to my friend and apologised as the pasta must've accidentally fallen in with chips. We were the only people eating there at the time so my friend was confused as to why they were cooking pasta. A free cider was given to my friend. There was absolutely no atmosphere. We sat on the sofas for a little bit but no atmosphere at all. The sofas had different coloured tape on the sofa arms. Looked awful. It's such a shame as this is situated in a lovely area which welcomes local families and visitors. Unfortunately we will not be returning here as it didn't come across as bring very welcoming and the food was bad. Maybe the brewery need to sort the place out. They could be sitting on a goldmine.

A belated review our the Mother's Day experience at the Carbeile Inn - having been on holiday for a while. Myself, my wife and family have dined at the Carbeile on numerous occasions - under many different tennants. We unanimously agree that the current tennants are providing a meal service far better than any previous. On Mother's day we booked for a late afternoon carvery. As usual the food was delicious, the staff were courteous and attentive, and despite the heavy bookings during the afternoon, the dining area was clean, tidy and well presented! After reading the two recent reviews for Mother's day from local people we are all appalled at their tirade aimed at every aspect of this establishment. We all suspect a undertone of a hidden agenda in these reviews. Well done to the Carbeile, it's tennants and their staff.

Just been up for a mothers day meal for mu mum and I have to say it was appalling. From the start A) starters were not too bad, however the kids "garlic fingers" was just bunt garlic bread (an I mean well burnt), B) the mains were awful, the steaks although tasty were not cooked to the way we request and were over cooked, the new potatoes we tasty, however had to leave a few due to black spots. The chips were the worse, inedible, 4 of our party left their chips, I thought they were being fussy, but after taking one bite I spat it out, utter vile. C) puddings were tasty although the crumble was very dry. To add to this the staff did not ask I the meals were ok, so we could not point out the faults, there were also small issues for me of no straws offered with the kids drinks (lucky for me i had some in my bag) and I found the set up of the cutlery (which is loose in a small metal bucket) absolutely vile, I had no idea how long it had been sat there and who may of breathed/coughed or sneezed near them. HOWEVER ever after all this, there was worse to come, we had been double charged for our round of drinks and although this was resolved, the attitude of the female manager was abysmal. We are an incredibly quiet and polite family, but when questioning the over charge we were treated as if we were trying to con them out of a round of drinks and were lying to them, this caused my mother to become incredibly upset, to the point of being in tears. I will never ever be returning. I feel that it was disgusting to still charge us over £140.00 when we ate less than 2/3 of the meal. I have already called up and other than a forced apology, there was nothing else offered for the most awful experience at any food establishment I have ever experienced.

I went in the Carbeile Inn today with two friends and after being impressed by the specials menu. My friends and I ordered from the special menu and I ordered the lamb with boiled potatoes, after receiving the meal I noticed that the gravy portion was fit for a Lego character at best, I couldn't continue eating my meal as the boiled potatoes with lack of gravy was a criminal offense. I decided to go the bar and I asked the bar lady/server for more gravy this sent the aforementioned bar lady in to meltdown and her attitude completely changed in an instance, I was quite taken aback by this and it seems that her customer service skills reflected the gravy portion = HARDY ANY. I walked away and sat back down saddened that I would have to complete my meal DRY!!!!!!!!!!!! any U.K citizen and beyond needs ample gravy especially with boiled potatoes that were bland and overcoooked. Luckily for me my two friends decided on the pork belly, mash and gravy and I was able to dip the remaining spuds into there vast wealth of moist loveliness. Then to my surprise my gravy I asked for turned up! I explained to lady that it was a bit late as I had resorted to plate sharing to get my gravy fix and that if she didn't have a meltdown over such a simple request I wouldn't of had to act like Oliver Twist! no one came to the table to ask if our meals were satisfactory and no apology given regarding GRAVY GATE. The best part of our experience was the Bulmers which thankfully was wet enough not to require gravy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother was coming from Kent so I booked us a table at our local the Carbeile Inn on Saturday 17th October for 9 people. I had initially been put off by other people telling me it was not nice and the food was awful. This is a pub we have used for 30 odd years and have seen various landlords come and go. Anyway we came in 3 separate cars there is an ample well lit car park. The windows from the outside are full of fairy lights and it looked pretty and welcoming from the outside. The bar staff were very pleasant told us our table was ready but the youngsters wanted a game of pool so we congregated at the back and were not hurried. The menus are varied and there are lots of specials. We ALL ordered different meals, it was all served together and it was all extremely delicious! The waiting staff were attentive and couldn't have been more charming or helpful. They do a small version of yummy desserts which is ideal for me as I like to have a dessert and the small portion was ideal. It was good value for money, and more to the point our guests had a really good evening. On our way out the landlady was great with our little granddaughter and gave her a straw which made her happy!! So locals and visitors, don't listen to here say go and eat here it's really lovely!!

My wife and I stopped of for Dinner at the Carbeile Inn; we had a friendly welcome and shown a choice of tables to sit at; the restaurant/bar area was clean and airy and on the whole very pleasant.Drinks ordered (a large bar has all you could need) it was to the food, there was a good varied selection with a specials board, we went for a starter and a steak as a main. A few minutes later the young waitress came back to tell us our choice of starter was no longer available - disappointed a second choice quickly picked - I had the fish cakes which arrived just warm and without much taste! Just a stogy fishless cake. The breaded garlic mushrooms were fine (no dips). Plates cleared away the main course arrived both steaks were over cooked but still enjoyable - the chips were great.. As a treat we had pudding 'Hot Chocolate Pudding' with Ice cream it was luke warm and dry, the crumble and custard was very nice but again just warm. All in all the whole meal was OK with some disappointing bits. The price was a wee bit high for the standard of food.

Today was a farewell to our grandson & his friend who had been a short while staying in our cabin in Whitsands Bay. I normally go for a small option of one of the standard mains, but was drawn to the venison, so ordered it without vegetables except a few boiled potatoes, and the stunning strawberry & pepper sauce. Wow! Wife had her now usual gammon with melted brie and chips, and the young people had a C special beefburger each. All pleased thank you. Simmonds cider here is almost compulsory.
