Wonderful Japanese Food. After a few recommendations, we decided to try it out and will definitely be back for more. Well cooked, fresh, tasty food. Attentive friendly service. We will now pass the recommendations on to others. Lovely.

This was our first ever try of Japanese food, and... we loved the entire experience: it really was fun, good quality, and great value!

Such a delightful place. Clean table linen. Well dressed table. Attentive staffs. Ambitious menu. (And they held their high standards) . Had a beautiful lunch with close friends. So pleased to have a place as elegant as this to come to. Opposite Gunwhaft outlet. Everyone should know about Captain's Table!!

Excellent find. Booked on- line and because we were a large party had to select food prior to visit. Grand dining room and nice bar for pre-dinner drinks. The food was excellent and service first class. Highly recommended

We were visiting our son at his naval base and came here for dinner. We were most impressed with the fantastic food ( especially the Japanese) , the friendly and attentive service and the excellent value for money.

We had the Summer Maki, Japanese Pizza, Chicken Supreme, Cheese Soufflé and Duck Confit. Fabulous food and great service.

What a wonderful place this is. I found it on TripAdvisor and I am surprised it only has 4.4 star reviews. I went with my Dad, who is quite a fussy eater, well likes good food let's just say. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food is, they have an excellent chef. We enjoyed it so much we went again the next night. The service is excellent and our server Liam was very attentive. The ambiance was lovely, there are only two things I personally would change and that's the music (a bit loud and Ed Sheeran, which really doesn't go with the place) and the lights were a bit bright, but they are just personal observations as it really is a lovely place and I thoroughly recommend it. I won't share the menu photo with you as the manager told me they are changing the menu soon.

Fantastic meal. I am gluten free and they adapted the dishes to accommodate my dietary requirements. Complements to the chef. The service was second to none. Beautiful room full of history. Will highly recommend this relaxed amazing restaurant. We will return.

We had dinner here whilst visiting Portsmouth and had a very well presented meal with fresh food that had been well prepared. The waitress was very helpful and the restaurant was clean, fresh and inviting. The pricing was also very reasonable and overall the restaurant is a good choice.

This restaurant is inside a hotel and I booked for brunch (served from 11am) based on the amazing reviews on here. The location is in a historic hotel building opposite the bus and train station - perfect proximity to Gunwharf Quays. A friend and I met here for brunch and the service and brunch was outstanding. We went for the eggs royale and eggs Benedict, pot of tea and a coffee which was delicious and excellent value for money, coming to a total of £20. The restaurant room is in a beautiful high ceiling room and was so quiet and relaxing to sit and eat in. We will definitely be back again!

Was sister hotel apparently so went for breakfast had already booked to go to the restaurant . Was very very impressed. Staff extremely welcoming.

Our experience with the restaurant was excellent the staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. There was a good varied choice on the menu and very good value. It is very close to Gunwarf Keys where we were staying, we choose to eat away from the usual chain foods. We are so pleased we did, there is a separate cozy bar the drinks are reasonably priced. A lovely find and we will definitely return. Thank you to all the staff.

We've been to the Captain's Table on many occasions, sometimes just 2 of us, but also in parties of up to 10. It's refreshing to find "real restaurant food" as opposed to the "chain food" offered at nearby Gunwharf Quays. The menu is not huge but the quality is superb and always beautifully presented. With a fixed price for 2 or 3 course meals (with small supplements on the steaks) this represents exceptional value. This restaurant is located on the Hard, perhaps not the ideal location and the entrance steps don't exactly entice passing trade, but venture inside and there's a cosy bar and the splendidly decorated Captain's Table restaurant with high ceilings, flappy fans and several wall mirrors and historic naval pictures. Local car parks, buses, trains and ferries to Gosport mean there's no excuse not to visit this first-class restaurant.

We visited after a recommendation from a friend for Sunday roast. We chose to go for 3 courses, starters being cured mackerel and me better half chose duck, we had roast belly pork for our main, then a chocolate brownie she a mixed berry pavlova. Max (20 months) had the kids menu of cucumber/carrots and hummus for starters, fish &chips main, and a scoop of ice cream. The food was absolutely gorgeous, I honestly can’t rate it enough! The starters were really nice, but the roast belly pork has to be one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time! The kids meal was amazing too, with home cut chips and proper skin on fish in batter. Would highly recommend, and as others have said, it’s a real hidden gem! Can’t recommend the Keppel’s Head enough! We will be coming back for sure! Thank you

A fabulous restaurant situated within the Keppels Head Hotel providing excellent food and great service. The menu offered of good range of freshly cooked food which was very well presented and tasted even better than it looked. I would certainly recommend this restaurant
