Always on top, nice service, I can’t say just “tasty” because is much more. Food looks and taste amazing. I love this this place, and this atmosphere. When we want something special, we go to Capricho.

I just love this place! The food is amazing and the staff are lovely. Nice small bar area for a pre-dinner drink 🍸 while you wait for your table. Impressive wine list. In other words, excellent! So pleased to have such a gem near home. Perfect for a romantic dinner with the husband or a chinwag with discerning friends! If you are after fine dining without the TOWIE effects and crowd, this is the place!

This is one of my family’s favourite restaurants. I am Portuguese and I can vouch that this food tastes like home. You can tell they use high quality ingredients and the family who own the business are lovely people who always provide great service. We will continue to recommend family and friends! This place is a a rare find and a lovely dining experience. Recommend 100%%%

Last night my husband and I had a great experience here. The food and the drinks were absolutely delicious beside the fact the they looked great. The attention to details is great, we appreciated the sophisticated plates and glasses which added to the pleasant experience. We will be back, with our friends next time. Highly recommend.

Me and my boyfriend visit this restaurant often and every time the service and the quality of food is excellent. We thank them for given us a nice place where to taste excellent plates with special savour and quality choice of wines. Well done!!

If I could award this restaurant more stars I would. From the food, service and atmosphere this place is outstanding. Such a beautiful little gem in Essex and would recommend anyone to try it out. You wont be disappointed.

Dreadful !!! Had a booking for 6.30 pm and was told we had two hours. At 8 pm, whilst eating our desserts, the bill was plonked on our table. We were then made to feel very uncomfortable and as each of us were finished our plates were quickly taken away. The main man there told the people who were on our table after us that they were waiting for us to leave so they kept looking at us very unpleasantly. The main man there made a feeble apology when we told him how bad we felt but he never looked us in the eye or stopped to say it to us. I will NEVER go there again. It is overpriced with little choice. The lamb cutlets that I had were cut in half to make them look like there was more !!!!

Had a lovely evening for mum's birthday for 7 last night. Great drinks and service good and attentive when needed. Try the steak on the stone , a hot stone on a board arrives and you cook it at the table, came out great. Lamb cutlets, chicken skewer all were great. Thanks to the team. Good buzzy atmosphere too.

The best Portuguese food you can find in England! 😅 the owner and their beautiful team really considered all specifics to deliver a good intimate experience with Portuguese cuisine. Freshly cooked, delicious sauces, amazing seasoning. I was impressed!

Wow, I'm a stake lover and of late, I haven't been able to find a stake that I can actually say, I enjoyed it. But your stake on the stone? Wow! Tender and juicy, and I was able to cook it to my taste. All your dishes were beautiful and absolutely delicious. You have gained another customer. Ah and not to forget, all your staff is friendly and attentive, offering a good pace service. Thank you.

Had a family get together here today for lunch and it was a delightful experience. Great food and drinks. Top class friendly service.very clean. Lovely place . highly recommend. You could walk here from Fairlop tube.

My family and I went to the restaurant on Sunday. They were ready promptly and with great service. They answered all our queries regarding the menu and drinks. The food: Three of us ordered the picanha plate and it was cooked perfectly, the portions are a good size. (enough for my mother to share with my father as his dish didn't include the same accompaniment). the other two plates were the Octopus dish that had a good taste, and the last plate was the pork alentajana - This plate everyone on the table had a bite because it was simply delicious!! Desserts: We ordered 1 special which was their passionfruit cheesecake which was marvelous. We also got 2 Doce capricahdo which also tasted amazing and lastly we ordered the Cold hot dessert that comes with ice coconut ice cream which was great!! Lastly, I just want to say that the presentation for each plate is literally out of this world, I am glad they take their time with presentation, we eat with our eyes as well as our stomachs and their presentation of EVERY plate was simply amazing.

I've always had a great experience at Capricho. Before, during and after covid lockdowns they have never let me down. The food is always fresh and tasty and whoever mixes our drinks get it right. After a recent visit to Portugal I now know how good and authentic this place really is. I feel spoilt to be able to eat here.

Nice deco, simple but excellent food, and super attentive service. If you go there, picanha e super bock stout are a must. Book in advance if you dont want to be disappointed.

We had an amazing meal on Saturday. The service was some of the best I’ve ever had. All staff knowledgeable about our order and seem to be enjoying themselves. When the staff are happy it sets a lovely vibe for the restaurant. I loved being able to see the kitchen staff preparing the meals. The food was excellent, great choice (more than I expected as a vegetarian) and everything was so tasty. The drinks were a particular highlight- fabulous wines, cocktail and gin. Will be visiting again!

De um Português que adora comida portuguesa, este foi sem dúvidas um dos melhores restaurantes portuguese que eu comi, estava tudo 5*, não sobrou nada no meu prato.

I regularly eat here and love love the food - it always has so much flavour. The staff are super helpful and friendly.

I have changed my review to 5 stars as I believe a 1 star was very unfair due to the many positives we had and the fact the restaraunt has said they will look into the matters raised. This restaraunt was an awful experience. It started with a waiter who came to take our order and when we asked what some of the items were his answer was simply I don't know. Visibly understaffed and overworked, there were no other waiters around and so he called the barmaid to help us who was Portuguese and much more experienced as was very helpful. The olive starters and azores butter were delightful and full of flavour. The grilled peaches with grilled chicken was one of the best things I ever tasted. As much as the appetisers were great, the mains were equally awful. The lamb cutlets were full of fat and very chewey So I told the manager who immediately said it was the quality of meat that was not in their control. The Mrs ordered a steak which was great but the sweet potato side was drenched in oil. Not sure if this is normal but did not taste great at all. We will never return to this restaraunt again and hope the feedback improves the quality of food on offer.

Food amazing, service was brilliant comparing they short of staff. But the girls were doing there best. One down side that there was a lots of smoke. But we went there when it was very windy outside, according to staff kitchen could not open the windows, not sure if that's the scenario as went there once. Definitely will come back.

Great food & ambience! Only let down is, it is very difficult to get through on the phone to book a table and they are not opened during week days for lunch. Such a shame, otherwise a lovely place to dine.

The staff is welcoming and the food is delicious. A bit hard to get a table without a reservation but is probably because is the only decent restaurant in the area.

On arrival a bit chaotic as our table wasn't ready for 20 minutes. Waitress advised they were short of staff that evening. Was a bit concerned but they managed to turn the situation round by providing an excellent meal and good service. Chateaubriand on the bill was overcharged by a tenner which was swiftly corrected by the waitress when we highlighted the error !!

Dreadful place owner was disgustingly rude. Charged 6.50 for a prawn which I had 3 of for a starter for 9.50 they put one on a steak and charged me 6.50 when I queried it owner said it was my problem I ordered it and I couldn't send it back. Also was with a party of 8 of one which was pregnant... asked for her lamb to be well done as this can be dangerous for a pregnant woman it still came out pink. Asked for 2 steaks to be cook medium which both came out rare. Was scared to bring this up because of the response I got for the prawn. I will never go back the owner need some customer service training. Stay away I also accident spilt a beer because the tables were uneven when pushed together when it spilt the owner said that was nice of me like I did it on purpose. Absolutely disgusting. AND THATS BEING POLITE.

We have been coming to Capricho since it very first opened. Have brought friends and family here and always recommend it as a great local restaurant. Unfortunately tonight’s experience has changed all that. 15mins to get seated, a further 35mins to even get a drink in my hand. There was clearly not enough staff to deal with how busy it was. The food was decent but not fantastic. The octopus starter I always have has been changed and is now bland and no where near as striking as it was before. My partners Seabass main was overly salty and she did not finish it. My Monkfish & Prawn skewer was still very good however that alone can not mask over how cold the service was and sadly we won’t be returning or recommending this place any more. EDIT: Having read your reply I can’t say I’m surprised. Your automatic response is always defensive and like other replies you take no responsibility. We were not late, I’ll get the mini cab company to confirm this if you like? It took anyone 5 mins to acknowledge we were even there. The excuse was ‘The table has overran, they were supposed to be gone by 8pm’. If you’d like to continue this conversation you have my contact number from my booking.

Went there a couple of sundays ago and I can only say that everything I had was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. And why is it that when I have sangria in portugal or Madeira or this restaurant it's always better than in Spain? Good luck to you and best wishes for the future.

Friendly but vastly overstretched staff that couldn't cope with the volume of bookings in their two seating sessions Main and side arriving with 5 minute time difference and main still only warm not hot. Sea-bass cooked to perfection Simply more space or staff needed

Why some days do you do takeaway and some days you don’t? Very poor management decisions in which you’re going to lose customers over…. Why would you decline takeaway orders? you could have made yourself an extra £50 this week. It’s a shame really because I’ve had food from here at least 10 times before but won’t be coming back now. My Husband took me out for Date Night, we were getting bored of fish n chips, Indian... So we came across this Restaurant and decided to try it.... I'm SO PLEASED we did eat here, the food is "OUT OF THIS WORLD", staff are very friendly, courteous and we weren't pestered constantly (by staff asking if everything was OK.. Like they do in Harvester).. We will DEFINITELY be going back, and would recommend it to any of our Family and Friends. Such an amazing Seafood restaurant, the house waitress's are Gorgeous 😍 and friendly the service is second to none. I literally felt like I was in Portugal as I spoke the native language with the waitress. As for the food I had the Grilled octopus which I would highly recommend, the flavours will have your mouth oozing with delight. The food reflects the price and it's not bad at all. Seriously get yourself down there.

Food is AMAZING. Sadly they dont have a booking system, and they tend to not get the phone. So actually going there is quite hard. Some of the staff is quite rude (check how they respond to the negative reviews to get the gist)

This Portuguese restaurant has a very fine selection of food. There is a large selection of platters containing seafood, meat, and vegetables. There's something for everyone. In addition the desserts are excellent in both taste and presentation.

Enjoyed an excellent meal with friend who was introducing me first time to this restaurant. The food had the genuine taste & flavours of Portugal & it felt like I was back in the Algarve, will definitely be back soon.

Food was excellent. The sauce of carne alentjana was just amazing. We were close to the kitchen and by the end of the dinner it felt quite hot over there.

Great food very very good service

Incredible food, rich flavours and prepared beautifully. You will see the lamb cutlets and slow grilled octopus in my images. This felt like a Park Lane meal. You can tell the owners and chefs are very passionate just through the food alone. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Have visited this restaurant several times and the food has always been great. Booked for my mums birthday yesterday and was so disappointed to find banging club music playing. People are meeting up with each other after the pandemic and want to sit and talk to each other. My poor nan couldnt hear a thing anyone was saying. We unfortunately had to leave and order a take away. Focus on your food, have a nice ambient atmosphere. You are not a club...

Decent seafood place with chilled vibes. Reasonably priced and the food is presented very well. Only complaint is that the squid was overcooked making it quite rubbery in texture

Lovely food and delicious Sangria. Shame the DJ chose music that was unsuitable for the clientele and way too loud! Better to have played some chilled latin American background guitar music, especially on such a hot day. Would benefit from some large ceiling fans and more communicative staff.

Capricho, a fairly new restaurant. Ambience busy but pleasant. Good menu with great meat and vegetable Portuguese dishes. Very friendly and customer care at all times.

Food is nice i then you to celebrate my birthday Thursday evening 2 waitress only on shift they are running busy we even couldn't order the desert. After that 30min was waiting for the bill and waited for payment machine ss they have one machine in whole restaurant
