We had dinner here last night, it was an amazing evening. We had the 4 course tasting menu and the food really was amazing. Every mouthful was complex and interesting and just damn delicious! The staff were great. They were very attentive, the service was spot on. It is right on the edge of the sea, so try and book one of the sea view tables, or one of their outdoor pods if you can. We were really impressed.

Very limited menu. What food we did have wasn’t good. Nothing more to say really. Such a shame. This place could be so good.

We did not actually get to eat here. We entered reception to politely ask if our dog could sit beneath the table. Their reaction can only be described as impolite, as a staff member (vexed by having to leave his chums at the bar) approached us & literally showed us the door.

Had a one night stay last week, friendly staff, lovely food and relaxed atmosphere. Only down point was that a previous person had stayed and broken the window frame so it had to be nailed closed. Would recommend the place

we stayed at the cape golf leisure complex and decided to eat there as the menu stated that food was sourced locally and was fresh. we were very impressed with the standard and couldn't fault what we ate. It was one of the best steaks i have eaten and the next night we had the Cod which was just as delicious. service was with a smile although there was only one waitress. it was expensive but it was worth it.

This review refers to the restaurant of Cape Cornwall Golf and Leisure. Although the restaurant is tastefully decorated and a clean place with stunning views I cannot recommend it at all. Visiting coming from Penzance hoping for coffee and cake or a light bite or a cream tea I was let down five times in a row within a year. Each time between 2.30 and 4pm there was nothing to eat on offer. Not a single item. Their sign at the side of the road leading to Cape Cornwall very clearly indicates that at least cream teas are available. Each time there were other excuses given by young staff acting indifferently. Last week's excuse for a lack of cake or scones was that 'no chef was around'. I am sorry but I cannot see why serving a piece of cake or a scone needs the presence of a chef. I have shown patience in spite of unsuccessfully trying this venue several times but this time I simply felt the need to write this comment. It is so disappointing to be let down like this after walking down from St Just. Needless to say that I shall not try again.

Visited last week whilst on holiday at Porthcurno. Have been holidaying here for over 20 years but never ever visited Cape Cornwall golf club - "cus its a just a golf club". WRONG!!! Popped in for a coffee whilst walking the dog - just to explore what else was there - and what a pleasant surprise. Yes - it is in a stunning location, over looking the Cape Cornwall sea line. BUT, under the direction of the new owners ( for 4 years !) Garry and his team have and are doing a super job on the non golf club facilities. Popped back that night to try out the restaurant - and not dis-appointed. Sat in spring sunshine overlooking the Cape, in a more than pleasant restaurant facility we had a super meal. Staff were very welcoming - and attentive throughout the meal. A simple but sufficient menu. We chose Dover sole ( freshly caught that morning off Newlyn) and scampi & chips. Both were served promptly, all very fresh produce and well presented and cooked - perfect. Deserts were chocolate cake ( warm!) with local clotted cream and a superb home made vanilla cheese cake (not my favourite choice, but WOW - how good was it!). Staff were great throughout. Wines and beers had a reasonable choice. Excellent value for money - sat in a stunning coastal location. Well worth a visit! Also then found about the facility - it has 15 bedrooms - all apparently very well finished. These were all booked out the weekend we visited. A spa & gym is nearing completion ( end June 17?), so this is a lovely facility to add to travel plans when visiting Cornwall, Lands Ens area.

Lovely views, stylish decor, good service, and good food (though disappointing that had no decaff coffee, and chips looked suspiciously McCain-like, but tasted fine)

Stayed here and it was raining so we decided to just eat at the hotel rather than go into town. Couldn't have been happier with our decision. Great meal from start to finish. The appetizer was mushrooms in a delightful cream sauce over sour dough bread topped with arugula and Parmesan. For dinner we had local sourced beef sirloin with peppercorn sauce and filet of sea bass over risotto with brown shrimp. Inventive, tasty and well presented!

We were a little unsure about eating here, as we were cycling around Cornwall so not in our smartest attire (although not actually in cycle gear at the time)! We were warmly welcomed though and the fresh catch of the day was pointed out on the menu. They were happy for us to try the local tap cider before committing to buying. The food was well presented, very tasty and good portion sizes. The waitress was friendly. The views were great. Would definitely return if I was in the area again.

Just popped in for tea and coffe as we were thirsty from our 10k cliff walk. Very friendly and welcoming even though we only wanted drinks. Super decor, roomy , clean and fabulous views of the cliffs and sea at St Just. Would definitely stay as if you have a small dog then you can stay.

Excellent service.

A party of us were welcomed as outsiders to Cape restaurant last evening and we had a fantastic time! It was the annual dinner but 'others' were welcome and we were certainly made to feel a part of the evening. We were greeted with hot punch and wonderful nibbles when we arrived and each of us enjoyed a lovely carvery, a superb selection of fresh vegetables, choices of succulent meat, and I mean succulent, with all the trimmings.. a choice of sweets, all very, very nice. Congratulations to Matt Lowe and Ashley along with all the staff who made this such a very enjoyable evening.. can't wait to return to the restaurant again

Delicious food and reasonably priced. The fish and vegetables were sourced locally (that's what we had so don't know about other ingredients). Fantastic views out to the Cape and the Atlantic. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. You don't have to be a member to eat there

Wir haben dort während unseres Hotel-Aufenthalts auch im Restaurant gegessen. Sowohl das reichhaltige Frühstück, als auch das Abendessen waren sehr lecker und ausgefallen.

I agree with the previous two diners: I don't know where or how the first reviewer came to write a negative review of the Cape Cornwall restaurant, because all of my experiences there have been FANTASTIC: the food is amazing, the view is great, the prices are reasonable. The personnel is also extremely friendly and helpful. The road to the Cape is rather narrow and should be approached with caution, but otherwise there are no drawbacks to eating here. None at all.

Spur moment lunch with therapist and another B&B guest. Lovely tomato home made soup of the day with cheesy bread my companions and I enjoyed chicken salad with bacon, freshly cooked to perfection with tasty salad. Good service from friendly staff and great location, when rain stopped we sat outside for an hour enjoying sea views with coffee and chocolate brownies, a perfect day! Looking forward to trying dinner there tomorrow.

Not quite sure where the last reviewer was coming from? Perhaps she was having a bad day and used trip adviser in order to vent her mood? I can assure you ours was a very different experience. Myself, partner plus child chose this venue for the stunning views and great food reputation it has generated over the last few months. We weren't let down! We enjoyed a warm welcome by the friendly assistant manager and we also managed to catch the chef in the bar area who, upon listening to us try and interest our fussy child with menu options to no avail, offered to cook something that wasn't on the child's menu. My steak was cooked to perfection whilst my partner's lamb was tender and succulent. A fine dining experience we look forward to repeating!!

The restaurant has a good vista, it was recommended to us by a nearby B&B, unfortunately, we found the food was Appalling ! greasy, over cooked and in tiny portions, an utter waste. It merited to be returned and leave but as visitors ....we obliged. Never have I experienced such low, slow and mean in portions standard. The cider was warm, the glass full of marks and not clean, pl do not go unless you strike it lucky.

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
