Campus Coffee in Newcastle upon Tyne

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

Nice decor but the staff are woeful. The blond woman looked at me like I’d sh”t in her cornflakes when I asked for a tray . Assume they aren’t the brightest of staff

Lovely coffee shop, great atmosphere and happy/friendly/chatty staff .. delicious coffee with the addition of some beautiful latte art, food is tasty and priced reasonably. This is my new place to escape too. : )

Looking for coffee and a snack, I wasn't disappointed. Lovely ambience with groups chatting over a cup of coffee or tea. The staff were very pleasant and the coffee didn't disappoint and neither did a delicious slice of gingerbread.

I went to The Grand for breakfast with my family and chose a latte and a fruit scone. It was a tad dry but that was not the problem. Embedded in the scone was a long human hair - ewww! On taking it to the staff to show them, the response I got was "We buy them in. Do you want a refund?" Did they even need to ask me that? It should have been a given. Where was the word 'sorry' in all of this? 'Sorry' was never even mentioned. No apology was offered at all. The hygiene concern should have been more tactfully addressed. This was not my first visit but it will definitely be my last. The response wasn't fair but the hair was and I'm a brunette. Avoid this cafe, at least the scones, if you value your health.

Went to Newcastle for a conference near this place. I was introduced to this place on the first day and absolutely loved it. They have great vegan options, including sausage rolls and the best vegan cheese toastie I've ever had. They also make nice iced soya lattes as well. A great place to grab some breakfast or lunch.

A nice little place, my first visit since this used to be called Campus Coffee & was run by the Uni. Nice staff & acceptable (but sadly not great) coffee. They are also a "card only" establishment which loses them ponts in my view. I value the convenience of paying by whichever legal tender I choose.

The choice of coffees are amazing, as are the choice of milks! Who knew you could milk an almond. Hayley and Rhianne are amazingly and provide the best service. I recommend this place and it’s people entirely.

Fab new renovation but you have to get in quick to get your favs at lunch time, vegan sausage rolls and marble biscuits flying out. P.s staff are lovely.

I used to pick my quick cup of coffee when in rush to morning class.. or sit and brood if dreading the study day or presentations.. had the nicest home away from home feel

We stopped here for coffee and cake/scones. The coffee was fresh, hot and tasty and the food was good. The cakes and scones were individually wrapped which means they were probably bought in but they were tasty and good value. The staff were very friendly.

I often take a break from the office to go and have a coffee. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the coffee is always nice! Thoroughly recommended.

Although it appeared that all of the food was factory prepared (same as everywhere else) the prices were reasonable. The staff were helpful and friendly.

When my wife and I are in that part of Newcastle, Campus Coffee is our first port of call. The coffee is always served hot and you can taste the decaff which is not always the case in some places. The staff are very friendly, the premises are clean. Yesterday we had a ham salad sandwich delicious, it is great to actually buy a plain sandwich without having mayo or pickle included.

Tuve la desafortunada experiencia de encontrar una mosca muerta flotando en mi café, que tenía un sabor muy amargo, así que supongo que no fue dejado allí intencionalmente.Puedo aceptar esto como una circunstancia desafortunada - percances relacionados con la mosca nos ocurren a los mejores de nosotros; pero lo que realmente hervía mi pechuga era que cuando fui a quejarme a un miembro del personal, ¡no me creyeron y procedieron a tocarme la cara! The hot food for lunch is simple, with a twist. The artisan wraps, paninis and toasties are great. Benefits from great prices as its near the Uni. Warm and Friendly staff

nice little coffee shop ,nice staff .great service ,reasonably priced ,tea and coffee ,food cook good and nice ,helpful staff a nice place to go after shopping .go again .always busy so that show how good it is

Went here with a friend after our lectures. There weren't that many people inside but still went for takeout. The mocha was really cheap (£2.40 for a regular) and really good. The service was quick and efficient, while still being friendly :)

This is a real value for money cafe next to the University. Sandwiches, Jacket Potato, or just a tea/coffee. All reasonably priced and served by friendly, helpful staff. A great place to visit.

Fantastic find next to the university. We had paninis which were great. As we were sitting in we were offered a side salad which was a welcome addition very tasty !

Six people arriving for coffee at 3.55 and being served and then at 4.00 pm being told the cafe was closing does not engender favorable views especially when the coffeee was cold

The staff in this cafe run by Newcastle University are really friendly and welcoming, always taking the time to have a chat with customers and making them feel at home.

A really nice little place. Very good prices. So cheap that i had to ask the girl if she had included everything i had when she told me how much my order was!!

I love going in here to get my morning latte or if feeling peckish some porridge. Very quick service - seems to have speeded up recently as the queues don't seem as long as they used to be. Very very reasonable

Staying overnight in Newcastle and looking for breakfast. This had friendly staff, good range of food and SO cheap compared to other coffee shops. We went twice for breakfast and even bought a packed lunch to take on the train home. We were two elderly ladies, not students, but were made to feel at home. Excellent!

Nice coffee. Good staff and ok toilets. Handy for university and blackwell bookshop. Small and clean cafe

Situated on the corner near the University this establishment is run by the Uni.

First visit to this coffee shop was at 8.30 am. There was a long queue but the staff still had time for a word with everyone and worked very quickly so no one waited long. We found a table easily and had hot chocolate, which was delicious. I will certainly go back for lunch one day as the soup and sandwiches looked good and prices were very reasonable. I was very happy with the visit.

This is run by the University and is mainly for students so nothing fancy but does the job as a café.
