Cake’ole in Bradford

Was looking for somewhere to have a light lunch before the matinee performance at the Alhambra Theatre. This place is literally not even 2 minutes walk directly opposite. Quirky, interesting and fun decor. Friendly service. Only wanted a light lunch but got kidnapped by the great choice of cakes! Only minor negative was the kids weren’t that bothered by the nachos (I tried them and thought that they were ok), other than that, all the food was great. I had a scone and the snickers cake, really nice. My wife had the panini which was nice and also a generous portion. The kids really enjoyed the brownies and the orange & cranberry cake. The fizzy drinks are cool as you get a pint bottle of soda water and a science lab conical jar full of concentrate to add yourself. All in all, an enjoyable experience, I would definitely recommend this place.

Always liked the cake ole but don’t like having to pay 50p for a pot of hot water to top up my tea! I always get hot water because I like my tea half and half. Don’t like been given a cup with big chip in, especially when it just where you drink. I did ask for it changing but never got a sorry. I wouldn’t drink from a cup like that at home.

What a gorgeous spot for some refreshment - right opposite the town hall this little place is full of atmosphere, quirky decor, lovely staff and best of all - CAKE! We were in town with friends and popped in to fill a mid afternoon hunger hole. There was a grand selection of cakes and tea. All came in beautiful little personal tea pots and all loose leaf tea. The cakes were sublime and had some unusual flavours - pimms cake anyone? All the staff were really lovely and attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

Delicious lunch. Scrambled eggs, beans and cheese on toast, and a pot of English breakfast tea - classic! Friendly staff, plenty of space at the table to spread out laptop, notebook etc. Perfect for working lunch.

Like most seniors, I do actually go out quite a lot and into city centres frequently to meet like minded friends. The cake 'ole is a lovely venue with friendly staff but the scone I had was very dry and just collapsed into crumbs when I tried to butter it. My coffee was very strong and I asked for some hot water to weaken it but was told I would have to pay an extra 50p. Because of this penny pinching attitude I won't be returning. There are a lot better places for coffee and cake.

Like many seniors we rarely visit the City centre and after our winter jabs and looking at the unveiled Gaumont/Odeon, now to be Bradford Live area, we were in need of refreshments. Saw the Cake 'Ole and in we went got a friendly greeting and great service and refreshments. Thanking you.

I've been here several times with friends when Bradford was the most mutually convenient place for a meet up. I've been with several different sets of friends and all compliment the experience. We're never rushed as we're primarily there to have a good chat and catch up. One of the ladies who has been there every time I've been there is so lovely. I should have asked her name so I could mention her. Really smiley and chatty and of a similar age to myself possibly 😆 Love this place and the atmosphere. Thank you

Another fantastic time at The Cake 'Ole Bradford. I had GF toasted sandwich, served with crisps and salad, all so fresh, Bob has panini and milkshake .. huge and delicious. No room for pudding after. Service always friendly, decor quirky, love this place.

Tea and cake break at the very lovely and definitely unique Cake 'Ole in Bradford. I experienced Russian Caravan tea, and Lego Chocolate cake, both beautifully presented and both extremely delicious! @cakeoleinsta

We walked in and Liz the really lovely lady serving smiled and showed us to a table we ordered cake which is homemade by Richard the owner with complimentary ice-cream and tea which where leaves in China cups, it was so nice we felt at home and can't wait to go back would highly recommend.

We called in for lunch today for the first time. We were seated very quickly and our order was taken by a lovely friendly lady. We didn't have to wait long for our food and drink to arrive and we both really enjoyed what we had chosen. A nice friendly atmosphere and I really liked the quirky decor. A very enjoyable visit.

We wanted to grab something quickly before the theatre and didn't want a lot of food so thought some cakes to share would eb great. There are lots to choose from in terms of flavours and if you have dietary requirements. We ordered a cadburys scotch egg, sticky toffee tiffin and a slice of curly wurly cake. The lady who severed us recommended having the scotch egg warm, so glad she did as it was lovely! The selection of cakes changes constantly so there will always be something different when you go. We loved the tiffin, surprisingly it wasn't too sweet, it was just right! The curly wurly cake wasn't for us but it was still really moist. We'll be back for sure!

Great central venue, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, good food, menu choices and service. I have been often for various reunions with different friends and family on numerous occasions.

Cake Ole Bradford is such a hidden gem! Beautifully decorated and such a warm atmosphere with friendly staff! Queen Liz served us ;) she was so warm and inviting, a credit to the business. We will definitely be back, nothing to fault.

Nice cake but that’s it! Cheap sliced bread, cheap crisps, cheap meat really disappointing not what I was expecting at all.

Called in for a snack before visiting the theatre. What a gem this place turned out to be. They went above and beyond with our specific dietary requirements, were attentive, friendly and efficient. Will definitely return when visiting Bradford again.

I visited with my sister. We ordered coffees, my sister had a cake and I had a gluten free scone.Gluten free choice is usually only chocolate brownie or coconut macaroon, and the choice here was double this. I could have had their amazing gluten free carrot cake but I wanted to try something different. hey have vegan options as well. My oat milk capacino was delish. Great service. Reasonable price. Definitely will return.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat the other day after visiting the media museum. We weren't sure what to get and so we ordered one of the cake platters. There was so much choice of food to eat that we decided to get one of these so we could try multiple types of cake. The slices are huge! Definitely good for a group of 5 (which we were). The drinks and cakes were beautifully presented. We loved the mason jars for the drinks, and the customisation options for the cold drinks means you can have whatever you fancy! I tried the strawberry and kiwi cordial still and cold but could have had it hot and sparkling if I'd fancied! It was delicious!

Great food however my last visit was a big disappointment. Less than half full cafe, waited 10 minutes to he served, in fact people who arrived after us who the waitress knew were served before us. A waiter eventually appeared from his gossiping and took our order. We didn't get the food we ordered and a cake was added to my bill which I didn't even order, clearly the gormless waiter got orders mixed up. Didn't complain about the wrong order as we just ate it to avoid any trouble. Will not be visiting again until their waiting staff improve. Not a patch on the Skipton branch.
