The Tebay of the North. Great stop - much better range of food & drink than a regular services (though possibly disappointing if you just want a can of coke and a mars bar). Has a butchers, sells fish, veg and bread - so a really handy stop if you’re camping and need to pick up anything you’ve forgotten. Can park up overnight - is probably my choice of night if heading to Oban for ferries or pushing up further into the Highlands from an afternoon departure from London (is my limit for driving on an early PM departure).

We went out litter picking around the services and it is utterly disgusting. Cairn Lodge Services and BEAR Scotland need to take more responsibility. The litter dropped is tenfold deep in places. It is down to individuals who throw it from their cars, but i think more should be done by those in authority. It is an absolute disgrace and gives an appalling impression of Scotland.

So refreshing to stop off somewhere on a long journey where you feel served and nourished and not just pushed through a conveyor belt. Coffee to go served from a window in their farm shop, restaurant with locally served home cooked food or you can go browse the shop for local treats. They offer their own loyalty card or 10% off for using your own cup. If you just want a cheap burger and a close-your-eyes- toilet, this isn’t the place for you but if you want a genuine respite in your travels then you will be delighted. Outside picnic facilities are very well done - you are on a motorway after all! You can even have a shower - it was sparkling!

If I could give it minus stars I would. We just wanted a simple snack…sandwich or wrap etc. No sandwiches or wraps, just rolls which would have been ok if they’d not been horribly stale, dry and tasteless. They weren’t in cling film or anything to keep them fresh and despite being “freshly made this morning” as the server said, it was obvious they’d been sitting around for hours and hours unwrapped. My chicken Caesar had no dressing…not even a drop of mayo. It was like sawdust. No mayo sachets on the self service stand just millions of mustard sachets. Asked the server…”we have none.” I honestly tried to eat it, but it was so dry I couldn’t swallow it down. It was appalling and the price was a staggering £6.50!…for one very stale sparsely filled roll. Needless to say I took it back and got a refund. Husband struggled manfully through his beef thing as it had a small glob of mustard but again it was stale as hell and dry as dust. His tea struggled to get out of the pot and my coffee was bitter. I have never ever had such appalling “food” in a motorway services. It made a Boots meal deal look like a gourmet offering. If we’d known it was part of the rip off Tebay services outfit, we’d have given it a wide berth. Truly dreadful.

Cappucino was almost tasteless, virtually no coffee and lots and lots and lots of milk. Very disappointing. Original comment - 2020 This is what a motorway service station should be like. The loos were nice but the tea and coffee was ok. I really didn't like the way you order and have to wait for them either, it was very messy with people on top of one another.
