Fat Hippo Glasgow in Glasgow City

Came up to Scotland to visit my family and my daughter recommended this restaurant. My wife and I weren’t dissatisfied. The burgers and chicken were amazing alongside starters like cheese balls and frickles, just wow. Massive thanks to staff who were attentive and thoroughly professional, we will certainly be returning or at least visiting one of their chain restaurants.

Vegan food options were amazing!

I dislike posting poor reviews, however, I was further disappointed this evening as I’ve twice ordered the Fat Hippo burger via UberEats for it to arrive missing component parts - that were advertised. On this and the last occasion I ordered from Fat Hippo, the burger was missing onion rings. The food was otherwise decent - albeit a bit expensive. however, this seems to be a recurring theme.

Second time in two days to this restaurant. Today (8th April), we were served by probably the most attentive and joyous person who really made our meal. The flavours of our meal were super, a really great restaurant.

Myself, my partner and my dog visited Fat Hippo today (07/04/2025), we were welcomed with smiles and seated quickly. We ordered drinks, starter, main and dessert. Everything was served efficiently and was delicious! The sauce on the loaded fries is PHENOMENAL. All the servers who waited on us were lovely and friendly, and helped us navigate the local area when we asked for advice. If you want to be waited on by people who feel like your friends, as well as delicious food to fill your belly, visit Fat Hippo! Couldn’t have asked for anything more! Thank you for having us! I wish we were local so we could visit again sooner!

Food was great, the new special burger is properly class, and the tall man with glasses is really friendly however i didn’t get his name.

Was excited to try here but we were so disappointed. The burgers were a good size but pretty dry. I ordered frickles and they were soggy and not edible. The batter was really not palatable at all. The fries were good. Honestly, overall we were so disappointed especially considering the price they charge. My partner picked the food up and said the staff were pretty disinterested. We did get takeaway but we literally ate it in the car a few minutes after collection so travelling was not the reason for the mediocre quality of the food.

Amazing venue, modern touch, and brilliant decor! Service was good, and staff were attentive and on the ball. The food was unbelievable. We had a variety of everything on the menu between 7 of us. The chicken tenders and wings were heavenly, and the cheeseballs were some of the best we've ever tried! Burgers are their main thing, and they were all fantastic, beef and chicken! Huge portions, we will definitely be back.

Just back after being recommended & was bitterly disappointed it looked great on the eye, lots of sauces & colour, but really bland, I had the chicken wings to start with & found the batter to be far to crispy & greasy, then had the hangover burger & as I stated it looked the business, but tasteless, my wife had the beef patty burger & once again very bland, hate being negative, but it just wasn't for me, I much prefer 5 guys or bucks bar, just my opinion, after our visit.

First time going and will definitely be back the burgers were so nice the staff even better will be recommending it to family and friends for sure

Absolutely loved it! Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday. Pre booked our table online, the website is very easy to use. When we arrived we had no wait and were seated immediately. Drinks were fantastic, I opted for their house lager, and my partner opted for a mars bar milkshake. For starters I had the Wachos (waffle fries with nacho toppings.) They could perhaps benefit from more beef but hey, they were great. My partner chose the crack fingers (chicken fingers topped with cheese, chives and ranch) and she loved them. For mains I had the Born Slippy burger which was absolutely delicious and my partner had a chicken burger, I unfortunately can’t remember what it was called on the menu but she loved it. We were too full for deserts but we’ll make sure to leave space next time as they look awesome. We were served by a gentleman with bright blue hair, didn’t get his name unfortunately but he was exceptionally friendly and had a good sense of humour.

The sides were great the burger was great but the chips were utterly awful i mean awful!

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times now and every time it’s been consistently excellent. As a bit of a foodie it’s nice to get the consistency and quality which is often rare from a chain. Fat Hippo Glasgow always delivers. Thanks. Shootout to David who was friendly and really helpful when I was in yesterday. An absolute credit to Fat Hippo.

I’ve tried both Edinburgh and Glasgow now, visually the food looks amazing but on both accounts the burgers are subpar, this time I ordered the honey shot chicken burger. Only a small amount of honey and couldn’t taste the blue cheese in the sauce, it overall lacked flavour and was a bit of a let down I wasn’t a fan of the chicken. I’m not sure if the batter was just over cooked as the chicken was dry or if the oil needs changed. The chips were good the pint was lovely and cheese balls both times ive had them are amazing ! The zinger sauce is really good too but I feel like the starters are the main highlight rather than the burgers.

We enjoyed our visit to The Fat Hippo on Sunday 9th March, we had the Wild Bill and Born Slippy burgers that were really good quality and well cooked, the fries were great and the onion rings were brilliant, Beer on point as well. Didn't get the waitress's name but we were really well looked after, all the staff we encountered were very professional. I would certainly consider going back in the future, I would recommend to anyone that likes a burger 🍔

The food was incredible they put a lot of effort into making the food delicious and of a very high quality. The staff were super lovely and made amendments to the menu items to suit our needs. Would definitely recommend this please for a meal and would definitely return.

I come here often and I have never been dissapointed. The food and service are top tier. The staff are always so lovely. Nice place to sit as well, it’s one of these places you can dress up at the weekends or be casual and still fit in.

Went with my friends yesterday everything on point well seasoned and well cooked no to expensive either well worth.

Second visit, food was decent, not as good as the first time. Burger was dry, and very very thin. It was good, not great.

Greeted and served by snobs. Very poor service. Food was barely warm. Burgers were below average for quality and taste. Good was the Beer, Thin fries and slaw. Would not recommend to anyone.

if you want bang average food, with slow wait tiny, cheap burger patties and undercooked bacon, this is for you. 2£ for Parmesan truffle fries for the lightest coating of Parmesan I've ever seen. Definitely not a place id recommend

Nice friendly burger place. Great selection of burgers, both beef and chicken options, never tried the veggie stuff, would have been good to see a chicken fillet burger option. We got there on a Saturday afternoon and sat downstairs, the staff were really fast and friendly. We picked our burgers from a vast choice of options. The food and drinks came quickly although our onion ring were missing, when we asked, the waiter noticed he had put them down on another table. Rather than get us new ones, we went and grabbed them from the other table. Fortunately we had seen him putting them there, and no one had touched them, but for hygiene and customer service, I would have thought, rather than run the risk, just get us a fresh portion. However they were pretty spectacular! The burger themselves were pretty good, the American beef burger had great pickles and nice sauces, albeit slightly overcooked burgers. The Semi-parked life chicken burger was really good. We got a portion of both the fries, simple, nice and crispy, and a portion of the dirty fries, these were nice, but you really need to love the Fat Hippo sauce for them. As I said earlier, the onion rings were spectacular, brilliantly crispy. All in with mains, the sides and couple of beers and a cocktail, the bill was really good. Definitely one of the better burger chains in Glasgow.

Really enjoyed eating at Fat Hippo! The food was tasty and there was lots of choice, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. It was a clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere, and very good value. I would recommend it if you fancy a burger while in Glasgow!

Got the wachos (amazing!!!), hangover chicken burger and the Swiss Tony beef burger. Absolutely delicious but between the appetiser and fries portions so so full! Happy tho!

I went for lunch during the week with my partner, we both ordered the lunch deal burger. It comes well accompanied with plenty of potatoes, my girlfriend ordered the vegetarian burger and she liked it a lot, however I ordered another one with beef and the truth is that it wasn't very good. I've seen what the "normal" burgers look like outside the lunch deal and they looked much better, so I'll be back to try those as I think for £3-4 more they would be worth it.

A very good burger restaurant with a wide variety of both beef and chicken burgers. The burgers are very tasty and as burgers come with a side included, Fat Hippo is fairly good value. The only negative I experienced was that one burger we ordered was lukewarm although still very tasty. I would definitely recommend Fat Hippo to all burger lovers.

Mediocrity for the price of gold

Had takeaway, meat burger wasn’t fully cooked and lacked sauce and flavor, the buffalo burger had no taste at all like there’s no much sauce and chicken wasn’t fully cooked, both burgers were dry but the bun I really liked was soft and nice.

Pop in with my partner, wasn't that busy, ordered a wild bill i think she got a chicken burger, we also had 2 pints, camden hall i think which really didn't look it as it was more like a large whisky glass, very over price, did enjoyed the burger though, partner didn't eat all off hers. We only stayed around 40 mins. Not much of an atmosphere, dont think we be back , as it was really over priced of what we paid for

I have been sat here for 1 hour waiting on food. I have seen 3 groups walk in order and leave before we have had our food We have a 7.30-9 pm booking and haven’t had our food with only 20 minutes left. Bit distasteful as i’ve never had a bad time in this place. Shocking to not have even been updated on the order status. Common courtesy to attend to your customers waiting for so long

0 flavour! Wanted to try this place based on the good reviews, staff were friendly, atmosphere nice but fundamentally as others have mentioned the food is just bland. They fall into the trap that often impacts burger places of chucking everything on a burger and assuming more is better. Can only assume they use very cheap ingredients because flavour was 0. Chips and salad were good but tiny. Dessert was truly strange, lots of sugary items jammed into a cup (like a trifle) but vegan custard used for all the options so tasted, again, of nothing Nice general idea, poor execution of the food, go elsewhere, assuming the 5 stars are from people that either like the food because it Instagrams well or people used to eating at TGIs

Good food let down by sub standard service. Basic things, such as ensuring the entirety of our meal was brought to the table, were forgotten. When brought to attention with a waiter, they didn't resolve the issue. Food was great.

Food was stunning , service was great also , very well looked after

We each spent about £15 and got 3 burgers with fries and chicken with fries, the food was top tear being cooked well and cooked quickly. We only waited about 20 minutes and got drinks almost instantly. The staff were kind and and retrieved some lost baggage from last visit. The restaurant was filled to the brim. My younger brother had the chicken and says it’s the best ever 10/10.

Great food, attentive staff, lovely atmosphere

I'm afraid to say this was one of the most unusual dining experiences we've ever had. I won't be long-winded and just deliver a quick account: 1. Delivered the wrong items - twice - to our table and then react in a odd passive aggressive manner as if we had caused the problem. One of the employees did - with a crumb of subtlety - suggest that we should accept them which was odd. 2. When a member of our party asked for some condiments the employee seemed annoyed by this request. At first we thought that we had read her wrong but no. She stood behind us taking an order from someone at another table and then backhandedly threw the condiments at our friend. We looked in surprise- as our friend sat with packs of condiments on her head and shoulders - at the member of staff and were met with an insane level of stink eye. 3. We also waited 30 mins for burger and chips. 4. We then waited 25 mins for the bill - which is weird for people that gave off a strong vibe that they didn't want our custom. We've been to Karen's and that was more chill than this.

Very cool little place; grabbed the cheese balls, a the semi-parmed life (the garlic butter bacon sauce in this was the absolute best) and a milkshake. All very delicious. We needed a quick lunch, and Fat Hippo was the best choice. Highly recommend! Portion sizes were great, and super fun vibe in here!
