Visited Fat Hippo in Birmingham and really enjoyed the food, so brought my Dad here for a birthday lunch. I was so disappointed with the American burger, it was so bland and the beef patties tasted of nothing. We ate the tater tots and left the burgers. Although the staff tried to make up for it with a discount on the bill, it didn't take away from the fact my Dad didn't have an enjoyable birthday lunch.

Always a worry when a burger place has really bad burgers. Had the fat hippo, which is their signature burger, so is one they should really be knocking out the park. The meat was tasteless and bland. I can't fault the front of house staff who were friendly and attentive, but underwhelmed by the rest of the experience. Quite slow for a Wednesday lunchtime, and the food wasn't as described on the menu with missing ingredients.

If you love a good burger then this place is perfect. The variety of burgers are all amazing and have me salivating thinking about them and depending on how hungry you are there’s an opportunity to make the burgers bigger or smaller. Would highly recommend.

The wings are tasteless and very very greasy. The chicken burger was very very greasy and tasteless. The batter has no flavour or seasoning. The onion ring were dripping in fat. The chips were nothing to write home about. The other 3 people in my company agreed. I would not go back.

Brilliant. We were looking for a hamburger restaurant because we were craving it and we found Fat Hippo. A great success. The girls were very nice and very attentive, the waiting times were normal, the atmosphere was very good and everything was great. Recommended :)

I only ever leave reviews for food places if the food is exceptional, so I have to say, this was one of the best burgers I've ever had. A lovely, cosy place with friendly staff as well, a perfect first stop on my trip to Glasgow. I may be back before I leave! Thank you!

There were four of us here. The drinks and food were ordered quickly and after a short wait, although the place was full, we had our drinks and shortly afterwards our food. Thank you for the delicious food, the friendliness and please keep up the good work.👍

Came here for hubby's birthday. The food choice was good, but not a big choice of desserts, though cookie dough was the theme. Hubby had The Fat Hippo burger, which looked amazing and was quite big, hubby said it was tasty, as were the fries. I had the plant based burger, The Notorious VFC, a bit of a let down, not as big and not big on flavour either. I had a watermelon margarita - lovely and hubby had the Perfect Storm, which was also lovely, along with a few other drinks. We did have to catch the servers' attention 2/3 times for drinks, desserts, and the bill. Not very attentive

Really nice food. Portion sizes are spot on. (I love the food in Buck's Bar but I hate the huge portions as I'm either wasting it or feeling too full) Burgers were great. Nice variety of choices including chicken and vegan. Hand cut chips with the Hippo sauce were really nice too. Staff were fantastic. Good banter, chat and service was really good too. Only negative would be if you're a bigger person the booths are a bit tight (I didn't personally have an issue) so maybe ask for a table in that case. It's not super cheap, but I think it's worth paying up for good food. I look forward to going back.

Davids was lovely amazing host, lots of awesome recommendations. Whoever his manager is give him a raise he's a total credit to your establishment. Food was brilliant btw but wouldnt have had such an amazing choices if we weren't helped by David.

Place was busy when we arrived so wasn't sure if we would get a table as we hadn't had a booking but they did get a table and have to say the food was amazing, and service was excellent, would recommend the born slippy burger it was delicious, will be back again.

That was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while, portions were great value for money, sauces were really good too! Can’t recommend the Hot Hippo sauce enough! David was our server and he was an absolute Gem of a host!

An amazing looking restaurant i love the wall art. The food was awesome and so delicious and our server Cheryl was amazing with accommodating us and making sure we were well taken care of.

Outstanding service by Cherelle she went above and beyond by making us feel comfortable and took out dietary requirements. Perfect example of a service with a smile, lovely cheery lass to have on the team!

1st time coming into the fat hippo Must say came here for a chicken burger and was given an overall great meal . Had David suggest quite a few options to me with the menu . Quite alot to choose from From looking at the menu there was also a good selection of other burgers too for anyone that doesn't want chicken . Overall though hats of to David for the service and the suggestion of going for the waffle fries which was a great shout combined with the Hippo Sauce My only downside was I had to cut my time short as I had to rush off but again a quick carry out box and payment complete . Would have definitely stayed for a dessert . There's always next time Thanks again folks

My first hot meal as a 40 year old. What an intro into my 5th decade on this earth. Many a burger on many a land, and I enjoyed this one as much as the best of them. Pepsi rather than coke is also a win! 👍 No birthday balloons available though 😔 BBQ sauce would bring tears to your eyes. Beardy Dave, our server this afternoon brought a laugh and a smile on this rainy day. Full of knowledge on the menu to help narrow down my plentiful options. See you next time Dave 😊

I can't believe I am just finding out about Fat Hippo! Why this place isn't being screamed from the roof top is a mystery to me because seriously, Fat Hippo is amazing. Burgers were outstanding and the cheese balls.... well, just get them and trust me, you won't regret it. The only con is the price, a little pricey for a burger and chips but suppose it is in the middle of the city centre. Overall though, outstanding service and food. Will be back!

I've been here a few times now and have to say that this last time was really disappointing, Burgers were Dry, No care taken in presentation and la serious ack of toppings on the PB JJs we ordered , also much smaller than I remembered. The main problem I had was with the staff. After taking our order nobody seemed interested in making sure our table was seen too and serviced property, no condiments on the table and weren't offered any when food arrived.... Had to eventually go and ask for salt at the bar. ordered drinks and the bar person was not behind the bar at all and after a 10 minute wait had to ask for those too.......Staff seem Blase in this branch and something needs to change in both the kitchen and the front of house. Was a great place when it opened and burgers were amazing but I can't see myself going back and am worried other customers feel the same way. Please take these comments onboard. The person taking my payment all shouted out the amount of the meal to the whole table, I was taking the table out for dinner and this is not acceptable.

Got our order wrong so we ended up eating food we hadn't ordered and didn't realise until they brought the bill, which of course they got right.

Misled by gmaps which turned this up on a search for vegan restaurants. Wish I could persuade their search that any place with only three fake-meat vegan items on the menu is NOT a vegan restaurant! The staff were lovely and the fake-meat burger was tolerable, but soooo not what I was hoping for.

Nice atmosphere, but food and service were shocking. Waited over 20 mins for 2 fried starters that should take less than 5 mins to prep, and then a further 25 for our mains to be delivered and dirty plates taken away. Mains were extremely underwhelming and overpriced, our beef burger was even undercooked and the dirty tater tots were smothered with far too much cheese. I'd rather have had a McDonald's mayo chicken than what I got from here! All for them to charge us 60 quid, for 2 starters, mains, and drinks. Avoid at all costs! Bread meats bread across the road will give you a much better experience and product for a similar or lower price.

Nice mouth watering selection on the menu. The food was delicious and we were served quickly. It's quite a funky place with an industrial vibe, the one and only complaint was the table is tiny and the seats were really uncomfy, but that's a design issue, don't let that distract you from the food. Staff were attentive and very friendly.

Fat Hippo seem to be cropping up in every city, and I'm glad to have another quality burger place available. The burger and tater tots were excellent, staff very friendly.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon after a fun day out in Glasgow, we been here before so it's not a new experience to visit Fat Hippo. Their cheese balls are very flavourful and wings are delicious, however the waiter did take a while to get our order, we were ready to ask for food but once we given him our drinks order he went away before we had chance to say we're also ready to order food. And took a while for him to come back to get our order, already by then we felt extremely hungry and anxious. The cheeseballs came quite quickly thankfully but took a while for burgers to come through. Overall it was decent, it was delicious and filling the food, however the waiter issue did confused us but we did had a good time in the end.

A bit of an underwhelming experience. Like a lot of people I follow the Fat Hippo on instagram. I love all the pictures of the food. I was so excited to come and try the food but we had a really mixed experience. I had the hot honey chicken burger, it was so bland has no taste at all. I couldn’t taste any hot honey or blue cheese. Luckily I had ordered some zinger mayo which gave it some flavour. The waffle fries were delicious. My husband had the born sloppy which was delicious but the burgers were over cooked but it was will tasty. The hand cut chips were awful they were like chips that had been cooked and left out (sweaty). I am not sure if I would rush back as there is so many really good burger places in Glasgow.

Just got a delivery chips where under cooked and not edible and my honey monsta burger had a piece of under cooked chicken on it. couple of bites and I'm already feeling sick they won't answer the phone I will be getting the under cooked chicken sent to a lab for testing if i get food poisoning i know where its from. The person that sent out that food should be sacked

Recently i went to fat hippo as i seen on ticktok that it was highly recommend, from a quick google search i could see the quality in the food and decided why not? upon arrival i could see that the place had potential to be something great. we were seated fairly quickly and were given our drinks 5 minutes after being seated. after ordering our food our expectations were high and had seem to be met with the service. but as the food came it all began to go downhill, portion sizes were clearly not as advertised on google and we were giving a poor handful of chips and a puddle of sauce. not to mention the chips that we were given were not even the ones we had ordered as we decided to order the super fries yet it did not have any bacon, parmesan or honey buffalo, and portion was barely even a quarter of the tray! after finishing our meal we had to wait a further 30 minutes before a server asked if we would like bill/desert despite our countless attempts at grabbing they’re attention. I was disappointed and felt extremely underwhelmed after my experience with the only upside being the burger.

Firstly we were seated early as we arrived a bit early which was good. Had high hopes for this place after seeing loads on social media. We ordered a burger each and a starter and a side to share. The burgers were actually quite dry (much to my surprise as this is a burger joint), the onion rings side was huge, however they were greasy and mushy on the inside. We shared a started of cheese balls, these looked amazing when the food arrived, however when we started eating again left a bit disappointed as the cheese was solid inside and cold. We had to find a member of staff to ask for another drink as no staff approached to offer/ask. No one asked us how the food was throughout the full time we were there, or asked if we needed or wanted anything else. Reasonably priced as we were just under £50 for 2 meals, 1 starter and a side and 1 soft drink. However overall very very disappointed in our visit.

Ordered for delivery so can't comment on service and atmosphere but the burger was genuinely incredible. Ordered the Higson burger which was succulent, perfectly cooked and dripping with sauce and flavor. Got some fries on the side which were delicious and some cheese balls which were also lovely. Highly recommend this place for a good burger

Went here last night last minute got sat at the table then proceeded to wait 30minutes for someone to come over to take a drinks order and food order to be told there’s no milkshakes no mither we don’t mind food was amazing but service was totally appalling there seemed to be more staff members stood at the bar talking and laughing than actually coming to serve paying customers

Had a few failed attempts in getting a table on a walk-in basis, the place is simply so busy! Booked it this time to make sure I can get in - that was so worthwhile. Ordered the "Crack wings" and "PB+JJ". Never thought the peanut butter & jelly combination would also do so well with the patties! Will be back again at some point.

The google listing made it feel quite “fast food vibes”, but it turned out to be great, very good burgers, fried chicken, beef and veg were eaten in our large group. Everyone really liked it. The stand out was probably the fried chicken. I would go again. Only improvement would be more beers on draft. Service was great.

Tried this restaurant today with my daughter service was ok food came fast ,chips nice and crispy but my burger was raw in the middle didn't notice til I had muched half way through it gave me the boak after seeing it raw I told the server and they gave me my drink for for free a pint of coke wow Won't be back as they can't cook the food properly

Had heard loads of great things about this restaurant. Finally got to try it for the first time tonight as a takeaway. All 3 of us had modifications we had asked for. Which is difficult to know if it will be adhered to when ordering online. But to our surprise everything had been made just how we asked! This was especially appreciated as one of us is vegetarian and has many allergies. Hope to dine in next time. Will be back!
