Caffe Nero in Cheltenham

The place is infested with midges - not one or two but hundreds - not what you want to be bitten by whilst eating lunch and drinking your coffee.

The new Nero just on the promenade is fantastic. Well worth a visit. The fact the place has such history and has been a coffee shop for so many years seems to give it a great vibe

It's a shame because the pistachio iced latte used to be made properly in the blender and was green like the the advertisement. Lately though the staff have been just putting a few pumps of the syrup at the bottom and its doesn't look or taste nice. I undestand sometimes it can be busy but this has been happening a lot even when it's not busy.

Hi, we have raised this with Cafe Nero however the place is absolutely crawling with flies. Sadly it wasn't until we ordered and found the seating area, walls and ceiling were covered in flies. Not little green fly, and it was just so unpleasant to have our lunch and drinks being dive bombed by fruit flies. Surely it should be closed to be cleaned? I understand summer but it was crawling. Please check before you order, it would be a pity to see your lunch ruined. Staff are lovely, patient and helpful, but this needs sorting at senior level. Check the ceiling before ordering, something I never thought I would ever say!

Ordered a takeaway hot choc. Must have been a quarter of a teaspoon of chocolate in it.. basically just hot milk.. never again. Rip off.

cheltenham Nero's cafes in the High Street and House of Fraser both excellent. Service polite and very good. Always clean comfortable seating and pleasant surroundings Staff very helpful

Love a visit to Caffè Nero, I live in Gloucester, so visit theirs more often. The new Cheltenham branch is also really lovely. Relaxing music, a nice ambiance, friendly and helpful staff, plus the drinks are such good quality. Very much enjoyed my White Chocolate Mocha and a raspberry croissant. Thank you for creating this little bit of heaven, after a busy week at work, it’s a lovely treat. ☕️

Very dog friendly. Free dog treats with a pupcup. Lovely barista took the time to "freshly grind" her dog treats as she such a small dog.

New location approximately 4 doors up from the old. Very nice. Clean, tidy and smart. The layout is pretty much a match from the last place with the addition of a new upstairs seating area. Very pleasant decor and ambience. The disappointing bit though is that my coffee was cold. I even ask for hot milk. I do not like luke-warm coffee :-( I would have mentioned it to barista at the time but they were pretty busy with a queue to the door.

We sat upstairs. First time we’ve been in since the refit. Coffee great as usual, very polite staff as usual, our favourite coffee house. But I was utterly shocked and quite frankly disgusted at what I saw in the upstairs toilets. Some ridiculous airhead has decided in their infinite wisdom to place two unisex toilets next to each other but with the top / bottom of the doors cut away. I won’t be taking my family back into this or any other cafe Nero who obviously feel it necessary to place vulnerable customers in danger. Get it sorted Cafe Nero, what I saw was utterly shocking and very dangerous.

Lovely coffee and super friendly, helpful and cheerful staff. Always will opt for a Nero as I find their interior is always cosy and comfortable. Staff were really helpful and patient when I couldn't get my card to come up. Fast and reliable wifi is handy to stay in and do work Will defiantly be back

We called in here for lunch on our first day in Cheltenham and found the staff so friendly, that we returned on our second day for iced coffee. On both occasions we were served by smiling, happy staff. The food was nice and the coffee good. It's a coffee house/cafe, not fine dining. Happy to give it 5 stars.

Nearby, great coffee and really nice staff. Can get very busy now there is just one Nero in town but staff seem to do what they can. Of all the chains I like this one.

Why is every Caffè Nero I visit filthy? We only came in desperation for a sit down and a cuppa but most tables are uncleared or when the miracle happens and they do remove the dishes they don’t wipe the tables. Unbelievable and appalling !

Brian is a credit to Café Nero. We try to have our morning coffee here, obviously depending on how busy it is. Brian is always up for a friendly chat and goes out of his way to make sure that you feel welcome. During these difficult time's and the long hour's that some staff have to cope with, he is an absolute star to this business. Credit where credit is due, as it doesn't happen often enough.

This place used to be busy and full of atmosphere, comfortable chairs, most of which are now gone, replaced with hard upright seats. I realise that they had to make some adjustment due to covid but whoever thought out the current seating plan is not making the most of the space that they have.available . It would be a simple matter to use the space more effectively, whilst keeping some hard upright chairs in place to save space. Personally I won't be visiting from now on, and neither will my family.

First time to Cheltenham and popped in for a coffee. The place was filthy and in these COVID times I was really disappointed. It’s all well and good having hand sanitiser as you enter but the coffee shop really needs a deep clean. Had to wipe the seat down before I sat on it, the floor and tables were in need of cleaning. Went to use the toilet and it was blocked by some inconsiderate person (not the staffs fault!) but an old lady had to ask someone to clean it, I waited and went to John Lewis instead. The barista had to clean the awful mess then go and make coffee for waiting customers!! Maybe Caffè Nero need to have a cleaner as an added extra, shouldn’t expect baristas to make coffee and clean toilets. I don’t think I will be returning on my next visit to Cheltenham, will go to JL where I know it’s clean.

El personal nos estaba compensando tanto que ni siquiera noté el horrible / casi ninguno / sabor de mi café helado / probablemente hecho con leche desnatada también / - literalmente probé jice / agua / e incluso el de mal sabor. 3 libras por una bebida que está esperando no es una oferta barata para una / la próxima vez compraré una lata de islandia

Always have really nice hot coffee in Cafe Nero. Most are dog friendly which is a massive bonus. They also serve beautiful toasted tea cakes which are full of fruit and always served hot.

Esta es una cómoda cafetería para visitar. El personal es muy servicial y atento. Es difícil evaluar el café porque es cuestión de gustos, pero esto fue bastante bueno. Compro frijoles recién tostados de Rave y lo disfruto negro sin azúcar de mi máquina de espresso todas las mañanas. Para mi gusto nada más es tan bueno.

We visited here a couple of times on our recent trip. Both times the staff were friendly and made an effort to ensure customers didn't wait too long to order.The toasted panini was so good that it was the first of many on this holiday. The cappuccino was well made.Both toilets were out of paper but this was fixed immediately when I mentioned it to staff.

it was a disappointing experience. There were two people serving, one wore a tee shirt stating he had been a finalist in a competition, the other competitors could not have been very good, or maybe it was just about making coffee and not about the customer experience. The coffee was reasonable, cakes pricey. The tables were not cleared during our visit and when we left i counted 9 tables with dishes on then needing cleaned. This was despite a third person appearing behind the counter. The table we sat at was needing cleaned and we wiped it prior to sitting down. I felt sorry for the old gentleman who had a tray with a sandwich and couldn't find an empty table. I moved a tray of dirty dishes to allow him to place his tray on the table. The decor is dark and wasn't helped by the poor lighting. The toilet also needed a clean. The place needs a makeover and the staff need training on customer service. I won't go back, there are plenty alternatives.

There are lots of choices for coffee in Cheltenham, but Caffe Nero serves good quality coffee with a bold flavour. Good tasting Flat White and I can recommend the carrot cake that is particularly moist and tasty.

Out of the big chains, Nero is my favourite when it comes to coffee. Quick, friendly service and a great cappuccino.

Will not be visiting this branch again as rude horrible staff. What a shame as all the other Caffe Nero that we have been in have been very good.

I pop in here whenever I come to Cheltenham to grab a breakfast coffee and read the news before the day starts. The staff have always been unfailingly helpful, and the coffee has always been good.

Staff are reasonably happy, cafe is pretty clean and tidy and the drinks are as you'd expect from the standard menu. More comfy seating areas would be better.

Stopped for a coffee and hot chocolate. Quite slow service but got there in the end. Nice coffee but average overall. Decor could be better, some of chairs very tired.

Coffee is excellent and staff extremely attentive and accommodating but it feels they are understaffed and as such tables are frequently not cleared or clean and it's a 'do it yourself' job.

Convenient coffee shop on the lower highstreet. A number of comfy chairs are available, we were lucky enough to get one of the tables with 4 seats and spent a relaxing hour talking and enjoying the coffee.

Cheltenham is full of coffee places. This one, in Cavendish House, is as good as they get. The staff are friendly and very good - they make it seem a happy place to work. The furnishings have recently been upgraded. There are nice comfy armchairs by the window, but be warned: old people in Cheltenham are ruthless about pushing in front of you to get to the best spot, regardless of only being one person occupying a space for three or four - and this place can be very full, particularly at weekends.

Detoured here for a quick bite whilst out shopping. Good friendly service and modest range of snacks, cakes and drinks for us and our children.

Hot chcolates are luxurious here. Chai lattes can be a bit powdery at the bottom. Nice coffee. Best selection of cold drinks/shakes out of all the coffee shops but slacking with the cakes. Cheltenham one is nice if you get a good spot near the front of back otherwise a bit cramped.

A nice place to relax with your coffee and cakes. Very friendly staff and comfortable seats. A little puzzled about the strength of the coffee. A medium size mug Americano with three shots of coffee, not as strong as the same size mug I make at home from coffee beans and I only use two shots! It is nice coffee but I think they must use a light roast. However, I will go again.

Always great coffee and free wifi... always friendly staff, love going here after a day in chelt town... chilled and relaxed vibe, plus cumfy chairs

About what you would expect from this coffee chain; polite staff, average coffee with a limited range of pastries and snacks. A mixture of comfortable seating and regular tables and chairs. Reliable but nothing special.
