Good place to have a nice coffee

I have come back to Niro cafe after a long time maybe 6/7 years and the staff were courteous and helpful, the trainee behind counter was very helpful and observant, I had my mocha which I have to admit tasted exceptionally nice, although I feel the leather chairs could do with an upgrade, also the interior could be a little bit more clean, there were drip marks down the counter where we order I shall add photos, other then that I feel I would definitely like to go enjoy a cuppa here again because it’s got a cosy feeling over all I enjoyed my little stay.21/10/24 16:25 today I have come here again and I have to admit it’s not improving if anything opposite but still almost all the rest were closed maybe I am loosing coffe taste but here I have to ask for cream and still no chocolate on top and no extra side flake or biscuit, here I have to admit In Halifax best coffee value for money and I have to say taste is cafe @ number one with out any doubt in my mind but they and the staff there are probably the most welcoming and friendly

Ordered a pistachio cake and a cappuccino. The creamy texture of the cappuccino added to the richness of the coffee. Liked it overall!

Get yourself a pistachio latte girly. Honestly a life changing experience 💅

Not the cleanest cafe its old and tired but the staff are warm and attentive and the coffee is good Dog friendly is a bonus for me the staff were fabulous with him

Could do with a re fit but at the very least a deep clean. Windows dirty especially in upstairs seating area. Seating showing wear and tear and ready to be restored or replaced. Paintwork worn and marked. The stairs upto the upstairs seating area was caked in filth.

Nice place and staff seem friendly enough but my goodness the noise they make smashing and crashing behind the dishwasher area is insane. Don’t know if it’s on purpose for laughs as it’s completely over the top, ruins the atmosphere of an otherwise really nice coffee shop for customers.

Dirty, sticky tables. The floor does not look like it has been cleaned in months. The seat smelt like "wet dog" !! No soap in the toilets. One of the staff was quite rude and there were no manners. Will not be revisiting.

As coffee shops go, this is good with a very relaxing set up

Not a lot to say about this cafe other than top notch in every way. Fabulous, helpful staff, excellent food and drinks regardless of the time of day you can snack or have a couple of courses. The staff regardless of shift are delightful and go out of their way to help. I'm not a very regular customer as there are other local eateries I also enjoy but the cafe culture is definitely alive and kicking in town with this very hot weather we've had, daresay if we get a typical Halifax winter it'll stop in an instant & we'll all be indoors moaning about the grey winter stuff 😂 for now though just love this cafe & I've met some delightful people even Australians visiting family here . Take note Calderdale Council!!! Our Victorian buildings get gasps of amazement from all the visitors I've spoken to this summer, Piece Hall etc etc. You need to plan your roadworks much more carefully in future as you've single handedly ruined the traffic flow in this town. I get why you want to encourage visitors but a at the Piece Hall ?? What about the businesses at the top of the town who are suffering? The Borough Market is having a full refurbishment & will look amazing but you seem to be forgetting the people who work here, live here and pay council tax 52 weeks a year & it's NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

I visited Halifax Nero many times before, to have a online business meetings. The music was loud. I kindly requested, if they can turn the volume down for approx 30 minutes. Reply was: "Area Manager does not allow the volume to be lowered". Not happy with this response. On previous occasions, the other staff have always been accommodating and alwasy lowered the volume for me. Dont why these were unable to simply lower the volume for a mere 30 mins. Considering I was regularly coming here,

Lovely friendly staff and nice outdoor seating area.

My husband who is a regular customer here and buys coffee morning and afternoon,wanted to use the toilets upstairs. This person who works there stated she was a ‘manager’ and refused my husband to use the toilet. What kind of a customer service is this? I myself have been buying coffee from Cafe Nero for years but will not be going back. Absolutely appalling behaviour.

I've being in here twice in last week and the staff after super friendly it's always busy which shows great atmosphere I haven't had food but can image it's nice 10/10 definitely on customer service nothing is a issue too them

The coffee is decent but the shop itself is really scuffy and looks like a homeless shelter they seriously need to refurbish the Halifax branch it’s disgusting compared to the ones in Leeds etc Nero what you playing at you need to keep up with the like or costa and Starbucks .

Do not order delivery from here. Twice I have ordered today first time through just eat didnt arrive contacted cafe Nero was told to complain to just eat. So ordered again through uber eats one of the sandwiches were missing, was told uber driver must have stolen it. Contacted driver who was fuming and he went to cafe Nero to complain, he also couldn't have taken it as the bag was stapled shut. Cafe Nero couldn't have cared less was told to complain to uber. This is not the first time food either has not been delivered from here or there have been items missing and it's always someone else's fault. I will never order from them again. The coffee was pretty rank too. Please someone open a starbucks in halifax. Also don't dare complain to them as they don't appreciate it and will put the phone down even though it's you that's out of pocket. Go to Costa save yourself hassle and money.

I haven't been here for years, and nothing has changed, literally. The tables and chairs are tired and could do with replacement to freshen the place up. The drinks were standard, and the food was quite expensive for what it was, which is standard for this type of establishment. Staff were OK, but it was lacking the welcome you used to receive years ago.

Lovely staff, always make us feel welcome and have a conversation with us. Will is absolutely lovely and always remembers our order when we walk in the door, great person and fantastic at his job!!😊

All of the staff are so welcoming and easy to get on with. They remember people's faces and orders. Will constantly makes the customers laugh especially me and my partner. A lovely little coffee house that I will keep returning too 😊

One of the last few decent places to get a coffee, defiantly best of the commercial coffee shops. Nice and quiet and opens at a decent time on the weekends.

Me and my 11 Yr old came in for a coffee and a milkshake, a really nice girl called teegan (T) I think that's what she said was amazing. My son complemented her jewellery and that started a whole conversation when he asked her a million questions. She was lovely she really showed an interest in what my son was talking about and he loved it. Always the coffee is thee best 👌

Another good cafe n. A little run down and mostly full of elderly folk. The coffee, as always, was great, and the staff very attentive and friendly.

Busy but great service. Very attentive to customers. The guy and girl working behind the counter both very efficient and friendly. Great customer service from the guy especially.

Disappointing service and communication

Cannot fault the coffee or staff. However the shop is untidy, dirty and the furniture is in dire states with seat filling showing through on leather chairs.

We have been visiting this Nero regularly since the day it opened around 20 years ago and often used to visit twice in a day sometimes every day of the week so we have certainly been topping up their profits !. However over the last 5 years it has become obvious that this store has sadly been slowly deteriorating in every way possible. It used to be quite a smart upmarket place and the majority of customers tended to be local business people, families or professionals, but that has all changed. The cafe looks scruffy and unkempt and is not an enjoyable place to sit and drink the increasingly expensive coffee. There is often a down market sleazy atmosphere which other customers have noticed which has spoiled it for us and far too many dogs now which can be noisy when you're trying to relax so we have visited for the very last time and will spend our money elsewhere.

Helpful staff and a nice experience for a chain.

Still disappointed in this place with the service. Now frequent other dog freindly places with better service and better value for money. Also the decor and cleanliness is appalling. Water or coffee stains on walls and floors which have not been cleaned. Constantly tables not cleared. The regime here requires an overhaul including housekeeping.

Been coming to nero in fax for a few years now and in the last six months the service and general look of the place has significantly gone downhill. Dirty stocky floors and tables, toilets unkempt look, damage to floors, chairs, walls etc. The service you ask for a ham and cheese lattice and get a pork one. Waiting time for the product also long and I even prompted the staff. 15 minutes wait for a lattice iv finished my coffee by time I got to enjoy it. Really disappointed quantity over quality.

Clean, friendly, cozy, popped in for a mocha staff were great, cafe was lovely and clean, it was really cozy, I will deffo be going more often

Nero is the one place we can enjoy a coffee when we have our dog with us. They were very friendly and even provided our dog with a bowl of water. It is brilliant that some cafes allow customers to bring their dogs in instead of having to sit outside with the smokers.

Nice coffee shop, friendly staff, upstairs furniture is ageing and feeling old but overall clean and tidy. Another nice Nero's.

Nice decor, friendly and helpful staff, good range of food and drinks including vegetarian and vegan options. Good mix of seating over two floors, outdoor seating too. Nice view over the Victorian market building. Wi-fi access.

Honestly the staff here seem great but maybe they just don't get time to clean or Nero needs to hire professional cleaners because the toilet was absolutely disgusting and there's no hand-wash, so if staff are using it, where are they washing their hands?!

Nice cafe with friendly staff. Coffee is the best and my panini was delicious. Clean and comfortable with plenty of room inside or outside.

I’ve never had the food, so I can’t comment, but I will say that plenty of people do eat here so it must be nice. The coffee though, it’s excellent👍🗿😀 Sadly the service can be a bit slow, but good coffee can’t be rushed.

For the first few times it was lovely but the past couple of times I've ordered they have either not given me a few items or given me the wrong things

Staff are friendly. Atmosphere is generally OK. Only thing I don't like, and this might be a chain coffee shop thing, is being charged an extra 10p for decaf.

Always friendly staff, quick service and top drinks. Often get a coffee in the morning before college or sit in and do some work. It's always a calm atmosphere to do so.

I have been coming to this place for years and literally over the last few months the customer service and standards of cleanliness have significantly declined. Cups left on tables then when removed table not cleaned of coffee stains. Sticky floors, damaged seating, decor damaged and peeling away. Damaged door with glass cracked on one side and boarded on the other for at least a few weeks. Danger to public if shatters. Both sides should be protected. It feels and looks dirty. A shame really. Its a wonder who manages cap ex and inspections of the workplace here as its definitely in need of some uplift and proactive monitoring. Also no toilet paper in the bathrooms at 1030am in the morning. Disappointed

Handled large order well. Advised all customers table by table, calmly and politely that due to the inclement weather, snow, the cafe would be closing early. Drinks as good as ever, staff excellent.

Service was very slow and coffee nearly cold. Some people were buying take away coffee but drinking upstairs. Is this allowed?

Nice ham and cheese croissant brought to my table by the ncice counter staff. Nice americano. Clean table, unusual in this country. Pity I couldn't have the armchair in which they had a tramp fast asleep. Strange atmosphere.

Came in last Saturday for a quick coffee - wasn't very busy but there was only a couple of staff in. Lots of tables still needed clearing and wiping so obviously had been busy earlier in the day - just seemed grubby. Chair arms, banisters all a bit sticky. Toilets were grim and stank. Not sure I'd bother going back.

I like coming here when I have the off chance friendly staff nice food.

If it weren't for this one major issue, I'd give 5 stars, but unfortunately what always lets this store down is the toilets. The staff are always really friendly and the tables are always clean and tidy, which is great. The toilets are just always filthy every time I'm there. They must not be checked and maintained regularly. Other than that it's great.

We’ve been visiting this Caffè Nero regularly for many years now and have yet to have a bad experience either with the staff or the food/drinks. The staff are always welcoming and happy to help, and go above and beyond to provide excellent service and correct the few mistakes they have made. Provided nothing changes, this coffee shop in Halifax will have our custom as long as we live near enough to visit it.

Really nice space and superb staff. A really great guy served me and he was all smiles. Plenty of sanitiser and social distancing excellent. The tables were tidied all the time keeping the place in very good order

This has always been a lovely coffee shop and staff are always friendly and polite. But social distancing of the tables inside and outside is necessary. Please clean them more outside, in the past this might have been the favoured choice of smokers but now it’s a safer option for us all and If someone prefers it they need the option. Other than this the staff are great, and quality of coffee is good.

I went to this coffee shop with a friend of mine and we was very surprised with how clean and friendly the staff were, expecially the young girl working on Monday 10th Febuary 2020 at about 4 PM. I will definitely be coming back for more coffee.

We came in here as it opens later than other nearby coffee shops. I had a very nice quality flat white and a good chat with the friendly staff.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, free wifi. Coffee: excellent. We enjoyed the visit to this Italian-themed cafe. Definitely somewhere worth heading to before wandering down to Eureka Children’s Museum.

popped into Nero's for a coffee and to pick up more beans for home on a cold ,wet Sunday ,great coffee ,as always ,good selection of daily papers ,nice biscuits and cake ,pricey but nice .main reason to visit is due to cafe being dog -friendly ,we were able to take our wee lad inside ,out of the rain ,i always ask first ,never presume .

The guy that served me was really friendly and I always love when a cafe has an extra seating area upstairs

A really lovely chap made me a nice decaf coffee with flavouring at christmas, He was helpful and amusing. I quite like this place. As is the nature of barista coffee, it can take ages to get your drink.The only thing I dont like is that it is rather pricey and that the cafe always looks quite dirty and messy to me. Needs a good clean which needs keeping on top of during the day and tables and chairs need to be cleared of newspapers etc. Otherwise ok .

The drinks are lovely but the place is disgusting. The floor behind the counter where the food and drinks are prepared is covered in food wrappers and sugar packets and bits of all sorts. Upstairs the tables haven’t been cleaned and tray haven’t been moved. The staff continuously re-ask what i have ordered.

Called here for a coffee before our journey home after spending the evening in Halifax after a show at the Victoria Theatre. Once again this Caffe Nero didn't dis-appoint - great coffee and good location.

The staff are always really friendly, helpful and always seem to be having a good time. Only had Latte's in here but they are always really nice and hot.

My daughter’s birthday shopping outing included going to this friendly cafe. We had Italian lemon juice, almond croissants and sandwiches. The staff were smiley and enjoyed serving us. They were efficient and nothing was too much trouble.

I came this place because I work nearby and thought drop by for latte. The waiter is friendly and welcoming. It was quiet so I notice there no plug area as my mobile is about to died. It may have somewhere as didn't ask the waiter but I cannot see it , if it got a lot then it will be good place to come while also workin (use laptop)

Everything is fine except one thing. The people smoking outside. All the horrible smoke pours inside and it's just spoilt it for me. I have an illness and can't bear to even be near it. I don't see any benefit from the smoking ban!.

In one of the main shopping streets opposite the Victorian masterpiece that is the Borough Market, Caffe Nero is a favourite haunt. I need not comment on what they serve because everyone already knows, but where this branch scores so well is the genuine friendliness and humour of the staff. Everyone is made welcome immediately on entering, and nothing is too much trouble for the boys & girls behind the counter. Highly recommended.

The only place to go for quality coffee in Halifax.Staff are friendly and make superb cappuccino's, with the usual selection of pastries.Relaxed atmosphere, supported by great staff will explain why I visit several times a week.

Visited here Saturday afternoon to while away an hour with a coffee or two. The coffee did taste like coffee and I was offered hot or cold milk - a nice touch as I always like hot milk. It was very busy but managed to find a table downstairs but on visiting the toiltes upstairs there was a lovely big room that felt like aa library as people were sitting reading - would certainly sit up here next time. My only criticism - as with most places - is the outside seating area appears to be for smokers - what us non smokers who would like to sit outside too?

I like coming here they sell a range of stuff and have lovely smoothies I do enjoy sitting with a nice pot of tea and then a smoothie or a hot chocolate and have a nice chat with whoever I'm with. The staff are always friendly with smiles very polite will help in any way they can which is lovely when you have little ones around I have also breast fed my little boy in there a few times its a nice relaxing place I feel very comfty when visiting

Good coffee, tasted like coffee not like some places where you wouldn't know it was coffee if you were given it blindfolded. Friendly staff and plenty of places to sit.

nice coffee,nice muffins etc....pricey but if you fancy treating yourself why not!!!!! outside seating, draughty even in the summer, no sun hits the seating area. Steep steps to the upper floor, a bit dodgy if your going up with a full tray, can easily trip up.

Well here you will be spoilt for choice many different coffees to choose from ,reasonable prices lots of mouth watering cakes to choose from pleasant staff ,plenty seating and when weather permits outside seating call in for lunch or afternoon tea it's situated on the precinct so very handy for all the shops

Very friendly service, which stands out. The coffee and food etc. are what you would expect; it is quite spacious. What stands out is the friendly and positive staff. That stands out these days and is worth commenting on.

It's good. I go 5 times per week for coffee and it gives me a break from working from home. try it now
