Visited today 13th September. Visited many times before generally food has been OK can't do much wrong to a sandwich, but today I ordered a classic burger husband had a jacket potato. Looked OK when it came . Cut a section of burger to eat tasted like raw meat . Examined the burger in the middle it was raw. Husbands potato was shrivlled and hard difficult to cut the skin obviously quite old . I took the burger back and got a refund . Didn't complain about the spud . Just won't go back .

First of all, the garden centre itself is really nice and we were assisted by a really helpful young man outside. The two stars is for the food. We called in to the garden centre café for some lunch and found it to be very poor. My mum enjoyed her cake, but my scampi and chips was almost inedible! The chips were undercooked and hard. The coleslaw was basically red onion in mayonnaise and the service was lacklustre also. Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Very disappointing.

We arrived at 2pm found a table which was great as the cafe was really busy. We quide up for an eternity to be served as the drinks area was very slow. We wanted the carvery and we noticed the food was running out. A couple in front of us wanted carvery and they got to the front and was told no more carvery. Surely make enough to last till closing and not run out at 2pm. Absolutely terrible. Then had waited along time and the lady in a red coat I presume was the manager just said sorry and they walked out. We got to the till and my husband had to go and look at the menu which the manager got her face on. We ordered sat down and food arrived not all of it. We had to ask a young waitress for the rest. The food was rather aweful my baked potato was a funny colour, had a small portion of salad no coleslaw. We should have gone down the road to the pub would have been a better experience. The next day I couldn't keep if the toilet due to the dodgy potatoe.

Called yesterday whilst visiting the garden centre. Had the burger and chips which was OK. The burger was cooked far too well and almost dry. My wife had a panini which was OK. She had a side if chips which came in a small dish and I think was £2.79. there were 9 chips. This left us feeling a little ripped off.

Called back today 21march to return an item of clothing, so we thought we’d give the restaurant another chance from the disappointing time from the 18 March, I had the special board of meat and potato pie, so where do I begin, the pie pastry at the base wasn’t cooked, the top of the pie was so hard that I couldn’t cut it , but that might have been the fault of the cutlery, the knife was so blunt it wouldn’t cut anything, the fork had square ends so you couldn’t stick it in anything, the green beans were half cold and not cooked so they were hard , the mash had a strange taste like they were yesterdays cooking, the gracey was so thick you had to spoon it out , but on a brighter note the bottle of coke was cold

Ordered lasagne and Omelette with sides of chips and coleslaw. Coleslaw was served on the Omelette plate and had to ask where the chips were as they didn’t arrived. The coleslaw was to share. Chips finally arrived half way through, clearly forgotten without any apology. Lasagne had very little beef in it and was tasteless. Omelette tasted like a frozen omelette was made with one egg, the mushrooms and tomato were sitting on top. We assumed maybe wrongly loaded meant cooked in.

Not been for a long time. Met a friend for lunch, the food was okay but nothing special, found it a bit on the expensive side too. Had the ploughman’s type salad, not much cheese or ham, cheese was thinly sliced and stuck together. Salad could have been better. Not the standard I have previously experienced which was a shame…there was a bit of finesse about the place before….

Very dissapointed with the lack of organisation in the resteraunt. The food was not palatable for the amount of money we paid. I just feel that the food due to cost should be better quality. We have been going to Whiteleys for over a decade and left so many positive reviews. Now the cafe is a big downgrade, ordered a Turkey carvery roll which was just bits of turkey served up between two slices of cheap floppy brown bread, nothing else! I had to ask for the salad and inedible coleslaw that I had paid for. The cutlery is low grade and tea cups transport cafe issue, the condiments low grade, mass catering. Reminded me of being in a transport cafe. No music, no Christmas decorations, no atmosphere. You have so many loyal customers, it's a shame to let this lovely cafe slide into oblivion.

Visited Mirfield Garden Centre for lunch with friends. Very disappointed with the menu compared to the last time I went there. The menu resembled a pub menu. No veg to the main meals. There used to be quiches, pies together with lovely veg. Instead I opted for a wrap which was ok but best of what was on offer. Will be going elsewhere for lunch in the future.

Popped in for lunch I ordered the ham salad sandwich platter my partner the chicken tikka sandwich platter both with chips. Several spare tables hadn't been wiped down when we walked in so not a great start. The food itself well the chips were overcooked don't know how you mess chips up in the first place luckily there were only about 10 on the plate anyway. On to the sandwich well it wasn't a platter it was on sandwich cut in half with one slice of ham (at least the ham was nice) and some salad my partners chicken tikka had about 3 pieces in it. So it was around £8 for a sandwich in white sliced bread and overcooked chips, oh and the cutlery hadn't even been washed properly. Don't bother eating here it's a rip off with very average food.

I am very sorry to have to say that the sparkle of the place is lost for all time. The shop is nothing like it used to be, before the takeover. As for the food, I was rather disappointed, I ordered the gammon steak and when it came it was over cooked, no onion rings, as on the menu, the plate was smothered with oil and there wasn't even a steak knife supplied. I know that many establishments use, bought in frozen chips, but some are better than others, enough said on that point. All in all a wonderful place has become a less than average one. A very sad time for all of us that remember how it used to be

Disappointing overall. Found table ( sticky!) and then returned to counter to order and pay. There was a queue as drinks were served as you paid, prep of drinks was slow. I had the prawn mayo sandwich, which was particularly cold and watery, suggesting prawns had only just thawed - served in soft white sliced bread. My partner asked for chicken and bacon in brown, but that came in white. As we had a long wait before they came, we didn't bother to ask for it to be changed. The chips were hot (good point!), and the coleslaw was rather chunky. The overall plate did not warrant a £8.49 price tag.

When we arrived at lunch time on Sunday we were surprised to find that the cafe had a lot of empty tables, something which we thought odd for somewhere that is often so popular. Firstly, it took us around 30 minutes to queue and place our order at the till. This never used to be the case and I have no idea what was taking so long. The food again took around 40 minutes to arrive. This was disappointing especially when a lot of the hot meals are already prepared and hot held at the counter. When the food did finally arrive we were very disappointed. We were asked if we would like any sauces and several of us asked for mayonnaise. We were presented with one small pot of mayo that would certainly not be enough for 4 people. There was also no horseradish or mustard which is a typical condiment to expect when serving beef. The beef baguette was poor. The filling consisted of mostly mushroom and onion which was not stated on the menu and any beef that was there was extremely dry and tough. The chicken burger bun was burnt with a dry piece of chicken inside and some wilted lettuce - no tomato or mayo that you'd usually expect in a burger. The quiche was burnt on top and lacked any filling and was served with a ridiculously small side of coleslaw. The ham cheese and tomato panini had barely any filling and just one cherry tomato inside sliced in half. Meals were extremely substandard and certainly not value for money. We complained to the waitress and asked to speak to the manager but we were told there was no manager or anyone of authority that we could express our concerns to. We asked for replacement meals for the chicken burger and steak baguette as they were inedible and the waitress agreed to bring another option. Before posting this review, I sent this information to the two email addresses that the manager has told customers to email as a result of their poor experience. I have waited over a week for a response and have heard nothing so unfortunately I'm now posting this on here!

We had a gift voucher for the deluxe afternoon tea. When we arrived we struggled to find a table, due to most of the tables having dirty crockery from the previous customers, this was despite the cafe being a third full. we ordered and were given our drinks straight away. Sadly there was quite a wait between this and receiving the food elements so both had been drunk and we had to order more drinks. During the wait the waitress came over and explained that they had run out of beef, so we ordered ham, however this wasn't understood due to the notes taken by the person on the till. Thankfully we were able to explain that we had ordered afternoon tea and the words on the ticket were our sandwich choices. Once the tea stand was brought out, we did have to chase the chips that came with the deluxe version. Given the uplift for the deluxe version £3 per person the portion was very small, less than 15 chips, but they were hot. The sandwiches and cakes were nice, but the dirty tables surrounding us did ruin the experience. It did feel very faulty towers due to the staff, one boy was clearing the tables, but seemed pretty clueless about it. When we eventually sat at a table we had to ask him to wipe it, as he was only going to clear it. The table next to us had 2 half eaten Sunday lunches from when we sat down and was still dirty when we left.

My parents were bought an afternoon tea as an 80th birthday gift. The reviews were so good that they were really looking forward to this. How disappointed they were when the staff were abrupt and not welcoming. They were told to go sit at a table near the window which to be fair was ok but there were crumbs on the table, one of chairs had a tray with used crockery on it. There was a table in the doorway with trays and trays of used crockery all on sight to customers. they were asked out of 4 choices what they wanted as sandwiches, tuna sweetcorn, cheese, egg mayo or ham (dull!!) they bread was dry, they had 4 sandwiches each! There was a small scone half a strawberry dipped in a bit of chocolate and a selection of bite size cakes. all in all the experience was really disappointing, they will never return to the same venue and as it was a gift it was also not something that either my parents had expected or the person who bought the gift!

Compared to the previous set up the cafe looked untidy. Everything feels like it has been significantly down graded. Food was just ok The worst aspect was seeing fly traps above the toll points full of dead flies. Really put me off my food and left me questioning the hygiene arrangements of this place. We have had an afternoon tea in many garden centres and hotels over the years but this was by far the worst. The sandwiches were far too thick with no refinement. Chocolate cakes, one was very think and stale and other twice as large. Scones could have been nice but the butter could not be spread, it was liquid. Other cakes were tiny and warm and sticky. We had a table booked for 09:15 for breakfast. We got there and got a table no problem, though there was no evidence of our booking. We had three ultimate English breakfasts two with tea one with coffee. The cutlery needed a bit of a polish before use, the knifes were covered with dried watermarks. The food arrived promptly but was disappointing. The portions were generous though the plates a little too small so it was all piled up. The bacon was the toughest bacon I have come across, tough is not a description I normally use for bacon. The fried bread was luke warm and really just a sodden piece of toast. The Ultimate did include a slice of toast, somewhat burnt, but if you wanted some marmalade it was 50p extra. The tea was cool and it would be impossible to identify it as Earl Grey. So whilst is was a reasonable price , £8.99 each, it was poor value, all a little cool and had a kept warm feel to it

Always wonderful food and good service.I was pretty dismayed at 2 recent reviews on the access system they have, as there is no physical stopping of customers, just a polite message reminding you to wear a face mask if you haven't got one on. First and last visit. Nice enough food. Young staff waiting tables are very nice but unfortunately not sure what to do.Although it was table service, had to go find my own cutlery, condiments and plates! As did the table next to us. Asked for hot water. Yet again after a long wait went and got it myself. When it came to paying I questioned why I was being charged £1.99 for a portion of chips Opposed to £1.70 on menu? She had to go question who I presume was a manager who came over ( She didn’t identify herself) So the reply was chips are £1.70 if you get a hot sandwich, but are £1.99 if you get cold sandwiches. She wasn’t especially pleasant or could I say up on her customer service. Now 29p is not a problem, but the principle is and who knew or understands that chips are more expensive with a cold sandwich??! No size or weight of portions are on the menu.So glad I’m a secret shopper at times.

Recently visited whiteleys garden centre cafe in Mirfield West Yorkshire. For a Deluxe afternoon tea, the cafe was extremely busy, which is a good sign I always think?! But the £22 for 2 deluxe afternoon tea was a little lacking I feel .. sweet treats/cake/scone were nice average but nice, the fact that you can only choose 2 filling for your sandwiches was a little disappointing, prawns were served on not the freshest of white bread. Then the very greasy potato wedges were the last feature of this ‘Deluxe’ afternoon tea. The refillable coffee was given you in very large thick pot mug, although on my return to the counter to get my refill I did ask for a daintier cup and saucer. I guess for £11 each it was ok, but not sure I would get it again.. But the staff were helpful and friendly.

Went to the cafe at Whiteleys Garden Centre for lunch. We had the Turkey dinner at £9.99.This was absolutely excellent. Everything about the meal was first class. The drink we all had was extra but all in all was worth it.Really good system they have which although very busy worked well.

We live close and visit on odd occasions. The cafe is always quite busy whenever you go. Good selection of good and drinks. The staff are always very friendly and helpful which is typical of us Yorkshire people.

Went for lunch about 12.15 and it was heaving...so must be good?! Stood at hot food counter for several minutes before order taken with minimal courtesy from staff. Then to drinks counter to pay and order drinks, should keep queues to a minimum but doesn't seem to work, good 10 minutes standing to get to table although not too long to wait before food served. Quiche, chips and veg looked quite nice but was underwhelming - chips were hard, quiche lacked any seasoning and was bland, carrots overdone and beans/broccoli was watery.Didn't want to bother with a sweet.Shame because they do lovely cakes but just wanted to leave.

I don't really know why but I have always been a bit underwhelmed by Whiteleys so went for coffee with friends in our walking group with quite low expectations. Happily I was proved completely wrong - the coffee was great and after our walk we returned for lunch. This was equally good for everyone and my prawn sandwich on granary bread was superb. Well done Whiteleys - I will happily return. Prices reasonable as well.

It was very busy and they were putting out a big order so we waited patiently. On enquiring what they had on off that was GF, the answer was bread or jacket potato after my mum had her eye on the chicken which was all sold to the big order and the sausage and salmon were not GF but could easily have been. The staff seemed relieved they didn’t need to serve us when we declined their poor offer. Will be a while before we go back I’m afraid

Plenty of parking available. Arrived at 12 o clock lunchtime. Fairly quiet but soon filled up. Outside seating available overlooking the garden centre part. Breakfast served until 11.30 weekdays. Great range of food and salad looked very fresh. A lot of bread based items on menu , jacket potatoes with various fillings, roast dinners and hot meals. Order at counter so really need someone to keep table while order placed. Table number given. Drinks at a different checkout so can get a bit hectic at counter if busy. Soya milk available as an alternative option to dairy. Food ordered arrived pretty quick, sandwich was well cooked, chips a little cool. Coffee good. Cakes looked amazing.

mum wanted to go to a garden centre so I suggested Whiteleys for change, as in past when we have gone there twice they have had a power cut haha. anyway when we got to the café, it was fairly busy as per usual, so we ordered scampi, chips and salad , which was cooked just right and yes was hot & delicious, we also had one of there homemade scones ,do warn you if you do visit here, it could be busy , the staff here work hard well done keep up the good work.

I visited Whiteley’s with my Nana on 5th April, and was very disappointed when the only food option for vegans was a “small pot of three types of fruits and a plain jacket potato”.

I booked afternoon tea for 10 of us on Mothers Day. Given the fact that it was extremely busy on the day we were seated on time. We were met by a café member who was very friendly and told us of our choices and what the ordering process was. The choice of sandwich fillings were amazing even prawn and salmon was included in the price! Everything arrived in good time and all together. Food was fantastic and the selection of sweets were hand made and delicious! The staff were amazing and very thoughtful. Would highly recommend the Afternoon Tea, especially the deluxe version as the home made chips are to die for! Great place, great food and great staff!

Hi all, Visited mid-week for a latish lunch just after 2-00pm, (17/Jan) We enquired if lunch was sill available and were told no problem as all the food was cooked to order. So we placed an order for 1, scampi veg & chips also 1, steak baguette, salad & chips. We then went over to the drinks counter for our hot drinks and to pay. Plenty tables were available as most lunch people had left. The table was clean & tidy. Our order arrived after a few minuets and the scampi was warm but the veg & both portions of chips were cold! The salad was as it should be cold!! But as you are waiting for your meal to arrive the hot drinks you have purchased are going cold. You cant return for another warm drink as your meal would then be going cold.

As many other reviewers have observed it's got a very cramped and visually unattractive interior layout with the views to the west out of the windows the only saving grace. They need to take out 10% of the tables if only to make it easier for disabled people to get around. Today despite wearing 3 thermal layers I felt cold. Not evident the heating was on. The coffee and cakes are ok but ate premium priced. The tripadvisor statistics say that more than one in 6 customers rate it poor or terrible. They ought to reflect on that as there are better places to spend your money and this resurrected former failed business ought to better appreciate the value of repeat custom.

Met up with friends for spot of lunch. Four of us had the jacket potatoes with various fillings. Fillings were nice and plentiful but all the skins of the potatoes were black and hard, as they were so overcooked. The potato inside was practically non-existent. Any decent chef should not have allowed these out of the kitchen! No wonder they were all smothered in coleslaw to try and disguise the carnage underneath!!! Very expensive mistake!

There are some cafes who think they are the Ritz. Whiteleys are a garden centre, soap, sandwiches cake salads and hot meal. Drinks hot and cold. Nice staff, high chairs and clean site. However the prices are high and a family will pick up a bill of £50 easy.

This Cafe located in the garden centre is a must to visit. Great food, very generous portions, efficient staff and good menu choices. The afternoon tea looked amazing. We had lunch of prawn sandwiches which were large brown rolls packed full of prawns, marie rose dressing and side salad. Excellent. Couldn't fault anything. Will certainly go back.

This was our second visit to Whiteleys Cafe. To be honest our first visit hadn’t been great but we were persuaded to give it a second chance. My Mum has restricted mobility, so I phoned ahead to book a suitable table. When we went in a very helpful lady on the tills helped Mum into a wheelchair and I wheeled Mum around to the cafe. We had a nice table reserved, by a window, with access for the wheelchair. I went to the counter and ordered our afternoon tea and paid at the tills. Our afternoon tea didn’t take long to prepare. The sandwiches were tasty with very fresh bread; the scones were warm and the mini desserts all different and delicious. We totally cleared the plates and were full afterwards. It is a busy cafe but the staff are very cheerful. I can recommend the afternoon tea but would advise if you do have restricted mobility to book ahead so the staff can seat you comfortably, as the cafe is often very busy and crowded. Thank you Whiteleys.

Just arrived home from Mozzarellas. It was our 58th wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it with a meal. It was absolutely gorgeous, I had the seafood pasta and my husband had the Sea Bass. Both meals were delicious and the service was fantastic. Thank you . Tony Dreda and Rory the dog. See you as usual on Sunday x
