LGW is probably the grimmest airport in Europe. It’s dirty, the walking distances are ridiculous, the gates are non functional & would have looked outdated 30 years ago. The LGW ground staff are helpful but the EasyJet people seem to have forgotten what they are there for, making the whole experience as stressful & unpleasant as they can.

My experience at Gatwick Airport was completely positive! Everything went extremely quickly from the train feeder: I was checked in and through security within just 12 minutes. I have rarely experienced it so smoothly and efficiently - no long queues, friendly staff and very good organization. Horrible staff. Unfortunately it was just one. I decided to wait at a gate because I didn't know where mine was boarding off from yet. This lady, I believe here name was Marisol told me I would have to leave if my flight was not leaving from the gate. I did not have my gate yet so clearly if I did I would not have been sitting there. I was not causing any issues and this was just beyond rude and unprofessional. This was at 8a Gate 1 British Airways on 4/28. Because of this lovely situation I will no longer be flying from Gatwick. Good riddens. And would you believe there is no number for customer service at this airport. How convenient! I'm pretty sure we know why. I also ended up going to the Airline desk and noone was insight for what felt like 30 mins! While people just kept waiting and ended up sitting down because they needed help. This is horrible. Update: not even an hour later and she left the gate and was not longer there. For what reason she did that for I have no idea but here is the bac of her. Yes, you are lucky I didn't have a picture of your face.

Ease of getting through customs is lovely, but DO NOT under any circumstances use their currency exchange centers. Their employees will lie to persuade you to use their center, stating it'll be more expensive to use an exchange center in your destination country. I found it to be quite the opposite. The spread here is robbery. For example, buying Moroccan DH with USD here was at a rate 6.3 DH per USD. IN Morocco we were getting a rate of 9.50 DH per USD. Selling in Morocco was the same, 1 USD per 9.50 DH, but at this airport Selling DH to USD was a rate of 1 USD per 16 DH So they'll sell you 10,000 DH for about $1,587 USD. They'll buy back that same $10,000 DH for just $625. Robbery at its finest. Current exchange rate online shows... 1 USD = 9.29 DH 1 USD = 0.75 pound sterling 1 pound sterling = 12.38 DH Yet in Morocco we were seeing rates of $1 USD = 9.5 DH 1 lb sterling = 10 DH Obviously these rates will be changing, but moral of the story here is, don't trust this airport with currency exchange, it's a for-profit business for sure and you'll be the unlucky sap

If you’re planning a trip to or from London, chances are you’ve come across Gatwick Airport (LGW) as one of your options. Located about 30 miles south of central London, Gatwick is often seen as Heathrow’s younger sibling—but don’t let that fool you. With its convenience, wide range of destinations, and ever-improving facilities, Gatwick holds its own as a solid international hub. After my most recent experience flying through LGW, I’ve got plenty to say—so here’s my honest review for fellow travellers. One of the biggest perks of Gatwick is how easy it is to get there. The Gatwick Express train from London Victoria takes about 30 minutes and drops you right inside the South Terminal. There’s also Thameslink and Southern rail services that connect directly to the airport—so whether you’re coming from central London or further out, you’re covered. The signage from the station into the terminals is clear and accessible, and the moving walkways make navigating the terminal much less of a chore, especially if you’re dragging heavy luggage. Gatwick is divided into two terminals: South and North. Most airlines operate from the North Terminal (like easyJet and Emirates), while the South Terminal serves others like British Airways and TUI. Both terminals are modern, well-lit, and generally clean. I flew out of the North Terminal, and I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the process was. Security was quick, even during peak morning hours, and the staff were helpful and polite. For such a busy airport, security at Gatwick tends to be more efficient than Heathrow in my experience. During my last visit, I was through security in under 15 minutes—even with a bit of a queue. They’ve upgraded to newer scanning tech in some lanes, which means you don’t always have to remove liquids and laptops, depending on the terminal and time of day. Once you’re airside, there’s a great variety of shops and restaurants. Think WHSmith, Boots, Hugo Boss, Harrods, JD Sports, and World Duty Free for the usual airport retail therapy. When it comes to food, you’ve got everything from Wagamama and Pret to more upscale sit-down spots like Grain Store or Jamie’s Deli. Prices are typical for an airport—slightly inflated—but the quality and variety are better than most UK airports. If you’re after a quieter experience, I highly recommend one of the lounges—the No1 Lounge or Club Aspire both offer decent food, drinks, Wi-Fi, and a relaxed atmosphere. The departure gates are sometimes a walk from the main lounge areas, but boarding is usually well-organised, with plenty of seating nearby and screens to keep you updated. Staff at the gate were friendly and efficient. Things That Could Improve • Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available but limited to a few hours. It’s okay for browsing or checking emails, but not great for streaming or working. • Crowds: Gatwick can feel crowded during peak travel times—school holidays especially. • Late-night options: If you’re flying early morning or late at night, food and drink options can be limited, so grab something before security if you’re unsure. Overall, Gatwick Airport is a reliable, convenient, and increasingly modern choice for flying in and out of London. It might not have the prestige of Heathrow, but in many ways, it’s a better experience—less chaotic, more efficient, and easier to navigate. Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or heading on your first trip, Gatwick gets the job done without unnecessary stress.

Airport for nerds. If you’re going to Paris get the Eurostar, or choose literally any other airport. No smoking area. It’s 2025. We used to be able to smoke ON planes and now we can’t even smoke while we wait for one? What is that about? INB4 the Eurostar hasn’t got a smoking area either. Yeah but at least it’s not an airport. You actually arrive AT YOUR DESTINATION, and not an hours journey + a 30 odd quid train ticket away from it. Not only do they want you to be 2 hours early for a short haul flight that, 9/10 times, will be delayed by an hour, but they ALSO want to deprive you of one of the few things that will get you through the torturous wait. Cigarettes. Might as well direct all the AA members straight to the Whetherspoons after passing through security. OH AND GUESS WHAT? THEY’VE OVERSOLD THE FLIGHT. I visited this Costa about a week ago with my sister, who has a serious dairy allergy and is also gluten intolerant, which rules out oat milk from most mainstream brands too. My sister noticed that multiple orders are prepared simultaneously but none of the tins used to warm the milk were labelled and it would be incredibly easy to get them muddled up, with serious consequences for customers. When my sister asked the staff member if she was sure that she'd given her the right coffee with soya milk the woman was rude and dismissive and this was building on her visible irritation with my sister that I noticed while we were first placing the order. My sister never drank the coffee, it was too high risk. Had it been the wrong milk she could have been hospitalised. Dairy and gluten allergies are serious and customers with these concerns should be treated with care and respect and furthermore, Costa should implement procedures which give customers reassurance that mistakes won't be made and they should train staff to handle these situations with greater care and concern. I won't be using this costa branch ever again.

From the moment I entered Creams Café, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by the owner. His hospitality instantly made the place feel more than just a dessert café — it felt like home. Owner personally took the time to explain everything in detail, from the freshly made waffles to the smooth and creamy gelato, crispy crepes, and the wide variety of delicious toppings. His passion for quality and service really shows in every corner of the café. The atmosphere is vibrant, the desserts are beautifully presented, and the staff — under his leadership — are incredibly professional and kind. Whether you're craving something sweet or just want a cozy place to relax, Creams Crawley is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

What can I say, it must be good if we visit every week. Variety of choices and the kids also love it. Definitely recommend to try, probably the best take away in the area. Good job guys. recommended.

We liked this restaurant because we were hungry and did not expect to be that good. We had the eggs with salmon, toasts, orange juice and coffee. Service was good and we appreciated how fast our food came.
