We were seated quickly in a pleasant room. After a shortish wait we ordered 2 sandwiches, a portion of chips and 2 coffees. After a long wait the coffee arrived but was only lukewarm, I asked for another one that was hotter but the waitress seemed confused, eventually we got replacements which were slightly warmer but I didn't want to risk complaining twice ... The food was delicious but the chips were plonked down with no offer of vinegar or sauces, not even salt. After rugby tackling a passing waitress we asked for vinegar which was deposited on the table but with no comment or question about whether there was anything else we wanted. At no point did anyone ever come back to the table to ask if everything was alright or did we want anything else, which considering it is table service and not cheap, I would expect. We are still here wondering how on earth we pay as we have been finished for at least 15 minutes and are still being studiously ignored. Maybe if we get up to leave they might notice us. To summarise food lovely if expensive service atrocious.

I was with friends visiting Saltaire village. Stopped for food prior to a long journey home at the Cafe at the Opera. After being seated we were told that around 70% of the menu was unavailable due to items being sold out. I can understand this if it was just 1 or 2 items. But to be left with the choice of just 4 items from an entire menu is unacceptable. If I hadn’t been with friends I would have taken my business elsewhere. The choice was egg sandwich, cheese on toast or a vegetable sandwich. I was served the most expensive egg sandwich that I have ever eaten. The best part of £9 for an egg sandwich is outrageous. I therefore feel unhappy for the poor choice available and the overpricing. I would not return and wished we had visited one of the nearby cafe’s in the street instead.

Quite nice for a snack or light lunch while visiting the Mill. Accessible. Smallish menu, gluten free available on request when ordering. Nicely presented food. Quieter than Salts Diner.

We were visiting the Mill to view the exhibits and wanted a quick lunch. The main cafe (Salt's diner) was a bit bust and noisy with kids so we elected to try this place. I just had a glass of red with a simple sandwich with mustard mayo but it was so absolutely excellent, that I can still taste it now. Service was good too. Can't wait to go back.

I have had lunch at this cafe probably five times over the last 10 or 12 years, so this is written from a sense of disappointment and slight sadness that the standards offered by the current people are much lower than the original crew. Visited with one of my sons for a simple lunch . And a simple lunch is what we got - but barely average. The tables were not even 40% occupied , yet it took over 20 minutes to bring our sandwich orders , my bread was definitely dry - exactly like pre - sliced bread when it has been left out of a plastic bag for a few hours. The salad garnish on my plate was alright but please , kitchen people , if you want to put onion with it be SPARING. - it overpowers everything otherwise.. The menu choice altogether was limited and the few sweet cake items were obviously standard cash & carry fodder. [ yes - customers had been spoilt by the previous proprieters because they really knew what they were doing . ] The pleasing and unusual aspect for the cafe is the mill building interior with the high curved ceiling , large widow area and rooftop views , and the whole room feels spacious .

The service here is soooo slow. Not much care for customers waiting to be seated, basically ignored. The food took 40 minutes to arrive, it's a cafe not fine dining! Such a shame. It spoilt our visit to this lovely place.

Nice, spacious surroundings. Much quieter than Salts Diner, which is SO noisy! Round tables, set well apart, with great views over Saltaire. Classic, appetising lunches with good puddings. Short menu with daily/weekly specials. Reasonable prices. Perfect for a catch-up, as it's possible to have a private conversation. The Mill is full of interesting,after- lunch, browsing. Brilliant books, art materials, stationery, houseware and more. Lots of art to see, particularly Hockney. Great place.

Staff were quite slow and inattentive. There was a fair wait to be seated - it was busy(ish), but there were clearly empty tables. After ordering the wait was way too long. We saw people who arrived after us get theirs brought out as we waited and waited. When it did arrive it was so disappointing. We had both ordered spinach filo parcels - it sounded lovely on the menu. It was meant to be a light bite, but even by those standards the portion was meagre. There were several greasy little parcels that looked like cheap supermarket frozen party food, a tiny clump of leaves with too much dressing (greasy again), a few tiny pieces of apple and a teaspoon sized blob of something creamy and unpleasant. This disappointing offering was £7.50 and absolutely not worth it. Salts mill is such a wonderful place, so it's a real shame the cafe doesn't match.

Amazing Sunday breakfast. It looks closed when you drive in to the car park and if you try to get in through the restaurant door you will still think it’s closed. Be creative go to hotel reception, no obvious sign just look for the door. If you are persistent you will be delighted by the breakfast. We went for Fathers Day breakfast. Choice of raspberries, strawberries, melon, yogurt cereal etc. Followed by cooked breakfast made to order. Beautifully cooked ingredients which. I couldn’t resist toast and marmalade to finish. Choice of a pot of tea or coffee. My only criticism would be that the coffee could be a little stronger but that’s my preference. A lovely food experience sat at a white starched table cloth in a calm environment with lovely staff.

The food has changed from traditional food your gammon and chips, fish and chips etc to trying to compare with bao buns at the Riverhead, sorry no contest. The pub smells of wet dogs particularly around the fire and the sofas and been bitten there. Not in a rush to go back .

" Gastropub " it says on their website....NEVER ! We went for Sunday lunch after reading how popular this place was on our local FB page. Not the nicest of dining areas , certainly not like their photos. Tiled floor , mis-matched furniture, more like a transport cafe for lorry drivers. The whole place is very rundown and drab , peeling wallpaper, damp patches etc. No starters available . Meat was tender and plates piled high but frozen soggy sprouts, cabbage with loads of stalk and nothing seasoned at all . Very bland .Not a good experience. We like to support local businesses but sadly won't return here. The staff were lovely but it needs a lot of money and a total revamp in order to survive . I hope it does!
