Cafe Niche in Scarborough

Called in yesterday for sandwich and tea. We were greeted by a lovely lady who took our order. Prawn and tuna sandwiches with salad dressing. We really enjoyed the pot of tea. We chatted to the owners who said the both had worked for NHS and this was there retirement project. We will be back !!

If you want a friendly cafe with freshly cooked food venture a bit out of the main drag of the shopping centre. You will be impressed with the cleanliness and Yorkshire welcome. Nice selection of breakfast and lunch items with a good price. Unfortunately although we are local we have missed this cafe before but plan to visit again.

It's a very clean, nicely decorated cafe serving excellent food at very reasonable prices. That would be enough for a recommendation but the best thing about this place is the warm welcome you get from the owners. They really are the nicest people.

Lovely, clean, quaint place with Parisian decor. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

Just in for a coffee .. it was such a friendly place ! The owners were so nice , we even got a history lesson on the Grand Hotel !

Very glad we stumbled across this cafe! The owners are so lovely and had a lovely chat with them! The breakfast was great and the cafe itself has such a cosy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and the service can’t be beaten, they were so warm & welcoming!

We popped in by chance. The food was freshly cooked with a wide choice - would recommend the omelette Kevin cooks. They were really friendly and hospitable and recommended a good place to eat in the evening- a Greek restaurant which we really e enjoyed. George Michaels is worth a visit if you like Greek good. Would highly recommend this little cafe and they have a 5 star rating too. Well done.

We called in here for a quick bit to eat before starting a long car journey. We were made to feel very welcome, and were eating our food quite quickly. Well worth a visit (or two)

Friend and I tried this cafe for the first time for a late lunch. What a good choice. We chose the chicken pie, one with chips and one with mash. Both delicious, crispy chips, smooth potato and tasty home made pie. The couple who own the cafe are friendly and we enjoyed a chat with them as the cafe was not busy. Will definitely be further visits.

Great little cafe serving tasty food at a reasonable price in a friendly atmosphere. Meeting up with old friends we decided to have lunch at Cafe Niche and were immediately greeted and made to feel welcome by the couple who own the business. The majority of the party ordered the homemade lasagne which was served with chunky chips and a salad garnish. I can honestly say it was the tastiest lasagne I've had in ages,and good portion size too. It was my first visit to this hidden gem but certainly won't be my last, I can thoroughly recommend. Give it a try, you'll be made to feel welcome and enjoy a tasty, quality and value for money meal.

I found this little cafe just off Westborough, the place seems to have quite a few local regular customers. I had a home made chicken and mushroom pie which was absolutely delicious. The cafe is small but has 5 or 6 tables, with French paintings (or prints) on the walls and traditional French music in the background. The couple running the cafe are efficient and very friendly, I wish them every success with the business, they deserve it!

Popped in here for coffee and bacon roll. Coffee was fine but bacon (decent helping) was underdone, microwaved, fat was inedible. Nice couple running it, back ground music a bit irritating. I was the only customer. Clean and tidy. Probably won't go back though.

Popped in for the first time today and was really impressed! A lovely warm welcome was given by the couple who run the business together. Myself and my dad chose the full English breakfast which was delicious and well presented. At a cost of £12.20 including 2 mugs of tea we thought this was great value for money. The cafe is very clean and is perfectly located just off the pedestrian shopping area in the town centre. They offer a good selection of breakfast cobs, omelettes, wraps, jacket potatoes etc so something to suit everyone. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Just popped in for a cup of tea, which was reasonably priced and a good size. Also glad we tried the home made mince pie with brandy cream as it was amazing! Did have anything else but the beef bourginone pie everyone else was having looked great.

Excellent breakfast got chatting to to owners and they where great people very welcoming all in all a very good experiance and i will be back

We found this little cafe when looking for a quick lunch last week . I had an omelette with a side salad , the owner went to great lengths to make sure everything was just how I wanted it and my husband had a baked potato loaded with cheese and a salad garnish . We shall certainly return when we are in the area next time

Says it's open till 4pm but arrived at 330pm and was all locked up. Should not say a opening time if they can't stick to it.

Attracted in by clean, neat appearance and overall pleasant style. Had a home cooked chicken special with rice and fries - very good and the fries were complete perfection. The owners could not have been more welcoming and took the time to make every customer feel special. Will definitely make a point of returning on a future visit to Scarborough.

our usual breakfast stop was closed for refurbishment their loss café niche gain, I may have marked not sure for a number of answers but this was our first but not last visit. We had a quick coffee and sausage sarnie, coffee was really good, didn't skimp on the sausages as some do, table service and host friendly. Nice and clean place to have our pit stop it's on our radar for our next visit, good luck to the owners and next time we will call back for lunch - another review coming shortly.

I have been meaning to visit this cafe for some time since it changed hands and was re-named. It is quite small, but well laid out and clean. While I was there, many of the customers were ‘regulars’, always a good sign. One customer was obviously working nearby, after ordering he left, and shortly afterwards a member of staff went out carrying his order, to deliver to him. I had a very good coffee, and a delicious scone home-made by the owner. The cafe is a couple of minutes from the main shopping area, but well worth a detour. Sandwiches, soup, meals and snacks are served as well as teas and coffees.

Great food, spotlessly clean, great service. What more could you need ☺. Good choice on the menu and cooked fresh as you wait excellent!

We popped in here as we were walking past after finding our usual cafe now didn’t open on a Friday, so we thought let’s give this place a try and we’re glad we did. We were greeted at the door by one of the owners and given a choice of tables, after perusing the menu and the specials board we opted for the breakfast offer. This was a full English breakfast with white or brown toast. I don’t eat eggs and my partner doesn’t like mushrooms so we both had extra sausage, we also had a pot of tea for two which came with a pot of hot water as well. At £4,60 each the breakfast was well cooked and well presented and it was obvious that quality ingredients were used. The tea was extra but well worth it as it was a full pot and tasted good. The owners are a very pleasant husband and wife team and we’re relaxed with customers and we enjoyed interacting with them. The breakfast tasted really good and wholesome and not at all greasy. Toilets are down some steep stairs and care must be taken in negotiating these, the toilets smelled fresh and clean and everything you need is provided. All in all a very pleasant dining experience and we shall most definitely eat here again. Highly recommended!

Arrived here twice even tho its states it closes at 4 it been shut at 3 when i arrived. Should not put opeing times on they cant stick too

Very welcoming and very competitively priced.The food was top notch and you felt that the owners really wanted you to have a good experience.Slightly off the main thoroughfare in Scarborough for holidaymakers but I'm sure these new owners will build up a clientele of regulars in the coming year.

My husband and I called into this lovely, clean little cafe for breakfast. The food was cooked healthily which we prefer to the usual grease laden fry up you get in most cafes. The owners are really friendly making it a very pleasant experience. We will definately call in again when we are in the area.

been in today also go in couple times a week the food is always cooked to perfection always yummy the staff are friendly and very welcoming always nice for a chat tried a lot of different food in here and everything been really nice

first visit to Cafe Niche today and was made to feel very welcome by the proprietors and had a warming bowl of excellent Broccoli and Stilton soup with bread roll. Excellent value for money and will certainly be visiting again

Went for breakfast which was cooked lovely with poached eggs, been on numerous occasions, very friendly and clean.

Went to this cafe today with friend. We received a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we walked in. Great place to pop in whilst shopping in town with a lovely Parisian style decor and the food was very good... definitely recommend the omelette!
