Cafe Nero Truro in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Stopped here for a drink and was greeted by a pleasant and friendly mixologist. The place had a nice atmosphere too. I will visit again next time I’m down that way.

Going cashless? It's a no from me...what will you do if card machine goes down ? And think of the charges set by the provider...crazy Reply to your comment about forgery is a cop out .. train your staff to deal with fake notes.. and just refuse them . Simple as that really. For someone to enjoy a pint or 2 and to keep tapping away is madness.. using cash gives people a budget and if it's gone its gone. And cash is readily available to use but you are denying the customer that choice which is fundamentally wrong

Went for birthday drinks, easy to reserve seating and service was excellent from the staff that were working that night.

I only stopped there for twenty minutes in the afternoon for coffee. I sat outside and I was served quickly. It wasn't busy mid afternoon. Helpful staff.

Well I come here a lot and I like the location and the coffee is great. However omg the place is filthy!!!!! Today 19/04/23 the table is dreadful and the floor just dreadful. Behind the counter where they keep trays and various milk containers is just not acceptable. I’m just really surprised. I won’t drink in again for sure.

Great place and area. One of the top bars in Truro. A great selection of beers and excellent service especially from Abi and James. Just a shame they are not open everyday. There were 12 of us on a work party on Monday and we wanted to go and have a few cocktails but they were shut ,wish they were open!! Highly recommend though.

Good selection of beers but when I ordered the barmaid told me to ‘shoo’ away from the bar, while we were waiting for another member of staff to pour our drink. (I think the owner suggests we were too close/being annoying in their reply, but this wasn’t the case at all - think they were just trying to make space for other people to come up to the bar, just thought it was a pretty rude way to do it as we’d been pretty polite and would have happily made space anyway)

Popped in to day for a coffee there was a lovely young man and woman working, you could tell they had been there all day and was getting tired but as soon as someone walked in they had a big smile on there face and was so welcoming! It was lovely to see also the coffee is amazing best around by far

Great atmosphere, good tunes only downfall is no dance floor!

For a busy market day, staff served promptly and the lady with the long blonde hair was brilliant to ensure I got the largest free coffee I could with my completed loyalty card. Well done for putting the customer first and for being so jolly!

Cocktails, huge garden and a vibrant atmosphere

Enjoyed lunch here veggie burger was really 'meaty' and tasty. Not a bad price either. The tapas looked good too. Nice garden area. Will definitely come back again.

We stopped for coffee this morning, it was great to be greeted and acknowledged whilst in the queue. The gentleman in front of us had obviously visited before and the guys serving remembered his preferences, he was very gratified by this. A lady with mobility problems came in, once again she was greeted by name and her order taken to her table. One of the servers sat with her to explain about the disabled facilities. I had started to think that excellent customer service was a thing of the Past, but both of these young men at Cafe Nero were showing that it still exists and also what a wonderful skill it is. Thankyou for a great start to our day.

Sunday 10th July served by a very friendly young Irish girl who is fantastic. Nothing too much trouble and full of smiles. A credit to the Quay Street branch

the food is really nice! the staff are friendly too. I had a chicken burger here and it was very well done.

Late on a Saturday night we popped in after other bar had closed, we were the oldest people in there! (We're in our 40's!) The music was good, the space of the building is a bit of a maze and could probably be put to better use. The inside areas were bright and nicely decorated but definitely in need of some TCL due to wear and tear through popular use ( it's very busy with younger peeps ) The beer garden is a fantastic space with its own outside bar, loads of seating and great views. It's a little gem of a wine bar and maintaining it , busy as it is, must be like painting the Golden Gate Bridge! However this in no way detracts from its appeal, it's a fab place!

What an absolute hidden pleasure of a place, staff truly welcoming, chief knows his craft, the food just amazing, the good lady enjoyed the coffee, myself had beer clean glass and crisp pint, highly recommended.

Can’t fault this place. If you want an amazing plate of food, great selections of drinks, fast friendly service then your not find a better location for it. Really nicely decorated and furnished on a great location.

Vertigo is a very fine establishment. The food is exceptional and the customer service was amazing. Although Truro does not have that much to offer. A meal and beers at vertigo and a trip to the office nightclub afterwards is a must.

My favourite place in Cornwall. I really recommend the BLT, the best sandwich I think I’ve had. A lovely selection of drinks and at a fair price and the staff are always helpful. Highly recommend!

Vertigo is great for so many reasons for Truro! It does amazing food in the day time! The new menu is amazing! The staff are all great and really friendly and welcoming. The drinks are top quality and so are the cocktails. The espresso martinis are particularly special. Highly recommend to anyone!

Awesome!! I’m not really one to write reviews but the staff and venue is fab! Fantastic food and drink with a massive range to chose from (not a cocktail man but they looked really good) We sat in the heated beer garden and felt like VIPs! We were served by James and Abi- both of which went the extra mile with our group. There were some lads working the outside bar too and they were amazing with us as well! (Sorry didn’t catch your names) If you’re looking for fab drinks, great music and a bite to eat, with INCREDIBLE customer service, I would only recommend coming here! You won’t regret it. Thanks for having us guys, we will be back!

Recently visited Vertgio and it was amazing! Our food was delicious with a large variety of soft and alcoholic drinks to choose from. The staff were lovely as well as the atmosphere. Will defiantly be returning.

Vertigo, ahhhh, where to begin. It all started on a warm midsummers eve when my thirst began to quench and tummy begun to rumble. I, a proud scot, thought of somewhere near me that could relinquish this but sadly nowhere would suffice. Hence I took a short trip down to Truro, Cornwall. What an exciting town - sometimes known as the Manhattan of the South west - it bodes fine establishments and terrific scenery, not to mention steeped in history and culture. Deciding among all these delectable haberdashery’s i stumbled upon Vertigo. A truly cheeky lickle boozer that wowed me from the moment I entered it’s castle. Beers, Burgers and most importantly bloody brilliant atmosphere - Vertigo ticked all the boxes with there quality food n drink and professional and friendly service from staff (in particular one Megan Beynon). Vertigo you did yourself proud and I don’t know if you know it yet but you just set up a brand new bar somewhere very close to me … my heart xx. Lots of love Cdoggy

Had such a lovely time at Vertigo! Drinks were amazing and the food was to die for, cooked to perfection and delicious! The manager James was also super welcoming would recommend this restaurant and bar to anyone and will return soon some more of there incred menu!

I visit vertigo quite often, the staff are always really friendly, the new food menu is gorgeous, highly recommend the tapas, and the drinks are stunning, cocktails are definitely some of the best in Truro and a great beer and spirits selection, definitely has something for everyone, and with the best garden in Truro, best place to relax in the sun or celebrate any occasion.

Always nice going to the garden area. Heaters available and music playing. Sun shines right in to the garden too. Good cocktails but £7.95 each and never seem to have them on any deals. You can spend alot of money, very fast.

My girlfriend introduced me to this lovely bar in Truro today. The staff were really friendly and the cocktails are excellent - and reasonably priced too. Only criticism is staff could have been more attentive and asked if we needed more drinks, especially as a) the place was basically empty and b) in these Covid times, in most other places staff are trying to limit the time customers are spending walking around. Overall very good though and we will definitely be coming back.

Booked a table online, a few days in advance, for the Thai food as this looked really appealing. This booking was confirmed by email. Arrived on time and the back of the bar was busy. Many staff were at the front and they all appeared surprised we had booked (we were told no one really books a table, even though this facility is on their website) and they seemed to have no record of our booking. One staff member seemed to find this slightly funny. We were told we could sit in the conservatory and have drinks as food was no longer being served as the chef was "leaving soon anyway". Obviously this was not what we expected and we refused to stay, saying this should have been communicated better. One staff member offered to get the manager but we declined as we were hungry at the time and it wasn't clear what this would solve. It appears, looking at other reviews, that this isn't the first time this has happened either. Received a text a few days late saying we did not show up for the table! This place may be fine for drinks, but avoid if wanting food. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise as we had great tapas food round the corner at Bodega 18.

Great cocktails, great service and a beautiful outside area with comfy seating and heat lamps for those colder days! Prices are reasonable for truro. I'd highly recommend a visit

Really good atmosphere and amazing cocktails but super slow service. Takes around 15 minutes to be offered a drink and another 15 to arrive. Then sometimes they bring the wrong drinks, and insist you pay for them as well as the correct order. Also close as and when they feel rather their closing time. The bouncers will literally just come to you table, announce they closing and tell everyone to leave, even if you haven't finished your drinks

I have visited this coffee shop many times, the staff work hard and are usually really friendly. I tried to take my mother in for coffee this week - she can't stand for long so I masked up and walked to the end of the counter to see if there was a table free for her to sit at whilst I returned to the queue and sorted out the track & trace required. The assistant shouted at me over her shoulder to get in the queue. I explained I just wanted to sit my mother at a chair but she just said 'get in the queue'. This then resulted in the other customers joining in. The place wasn't full, we weren't queue jumping but they couldn't accept we had someone with us who wasn't able to stand in the queue. We walked out and went to the independent coffee shop down the road where we had great service and great coffee. Cafe Nero, not all disabilities are visible and we were made to feel hugely embarrassed and unwelcome. Such a shame

Helpful staff, good set up out back but the cocktails were pretty disappointing - definitely tasted pre-mixed / very sweet.

Extremely slow service and made to feel uncomfortable by franchisee of Thai food hut constantly starring at us as we were not eating only drinking which was followed by server refusing us another drink because table booked for diners, there were at least 9 empty tables therefore took it personally,they refused a table of 7 drinking and spending money in the HOPE that they would fill a dozen or so tables with diners outside in the cold and soaking wet!!!! I will not be returning 😡😡😡😡

Had a great night out on Saturday for my friends birthday. Amazing atmosphere and the garden looks fab. We were really well looked after by James and they have very safe covid regulations in place, well done guys. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I am exempt from wearing a face covering yet was interrogated and humiliated by Ellie . This young lady took it upon herself to be rude and arrogant . Not a good representation for respecting people with non visible disabilities . Ellie clearly felt it was appropriate to be loud and rude in front of other customers . Shame on you .

31/10/2020- If you want to go to a cafe and have a very rude Staff member talk down to you regarding face covering , me and my friend are both exempt and have proof, when ordering she just glared at us and said about a face mask after we said we are exempt she rolled her eyes she was just completely rude throughout the order and spoke down to us as if we’ve done wrong. Yes I know it’s a horrible time but remember girl with the blonde hair (staff) we’re all vulnerable and all worried like you!

Disgusted, that there were no Covid procedures in place. Tables not cleared, or sanitised. Bins overflowing. The place was a disgrace. I won't be visiting Cafe Nero again, if this is how they act in this pandemic.

Excellent service, the Thai food served from the courtyard is absolutely superb. This is a little gem of an establishment that is tucked away which seems mainly frequented by the locals. If I was a local I would be eating here every night....

I had my coffee in the cafe - in a disposable cup and paid with my card.....whilst locations are encouraged to collect details from customers re covid trace, there was only one guy serving.He was diligent in cleaning tables when free and gave excellent service. it was great to be back !!

We’ve visited many cafe Neros over many years, enjoying the espresso as well as the ambiance. When we visited this particular branch, our names and contact details as obliged by the government, were not asked for. This was not a takeaways service as customers sat down at tables. One hard working server trying to supply the lengthening queue whilst her colleague fiddled with a device. Eventually, he gave up and took payments.

We stopped for morning coffee, Americano for her, Espresso for me, with sicilian lemon cheesecake and apricot and ginger ameretti to go with the drinks. The coffees were very good and we both enjoyed our cakes. The service was friendly.

Good coffee from, here. I like the choice. Also the free drink on o2 priority is a great touch. Flexible with your needs. They do their best to keep the wait as short as possible. Nothing bad to say about these guys here.

One of the staple bars / clubs in the city of Truro, which seem to be on the decline recently, but Vertigo still remains to cater for the Truro nightlife. A great venue with a good selection of drinks on offer including multiple beers and lagers and cocktails.

I went there twice in one day during the day I found it to be a nice looking place then later on that night I asked her to take me there for a last drink at midnight, well there was a dyke looking Lady who refused us entrance for no reason I never get drunk and we were not drunk. I am a straight man and I have a lovely woman I am on vacation The bouncer told us the joint was over crowded she lied we simply walked away but the place was not full.
